Unfortunately that doesn't jive with the award's (must) "Consistantly write crap" rule. What we need is another award entirely devoted to (dis)honouring people that register and (a) do absolutely nothing or (b) contribute no original content and make inconsequential edits to other people's stuff. -- T. For, due to the inordinate amount of work spent creating his negative campaign ads. Surely he deserves *some* sort of recognition? I mean, on IRC, he's become famous enough that when I say something particularly stupid (a frequent enough occurance), when someone says "I think GS was right", everyone knows exactly who they're talking about. I agree with you and I wasn't really concerned about "winning." I was concerned, however, about being accused of "giving someone a hard time" when I fail to see how anyone could find anything I asked or said even mildly offensive [[3]]. Honestly, my main concern was people would read what Jtaylor1 wrote and just decide I was an idiot or irrational, or both, and I don't think it's fair for them to have that impression without hearing the other side of the story.

  • Comment I'm not asking anyone to change their votes. I'm just voting and explaining my rationale. As for the examples you mentioned, it's debatable, based on my view of the award, whether it was warrented in those cases as well. As the award criteria states, the recipient must "[c]onsistantly write crap." Like I was saying, if we want a "he's/she an a&*hole" award without the writing quality aspect, we need to change the criteria for UGOTM, or establish a new AHOM award or something like that.
    
    It occurs to me that another aspect of this nomination is problematic (at least to me); it seems that Boothman was nominated, at least in part, because of how he voted on a monthly award. While I don't think Boothman deserves a medal for screwing up someone's vote count for what may well have been a frivolous reason, or no reason at all, I think it's inappropriate to nominate someone for UGOTM and identify a reason for the nomination as being how or why they voted on the site; we have a public voting system, and nominations like this, even in a situation like this, inevitably will have a chilling effect upon users voting, whether it be for awards or consensus.
