Dildus[edit source]

Must we have a NSFW template? given that there really isn't anything NSFW.

What has gone wrong with the first {{Cquote}}? Do you know how to work these things, or of a better template? I specified 20px, even though I don't care about 20px, because you have to put something there. I almost think {{Q}} would work better. Spıke ¬ 23:12 8-Oct-10

With respect to the NSFW tag, some people might find this image inappropriate. Unfortunately, that template is also the apparent cause of {{cquote}} having a hissy fit, so I removed it. --Mn-z 23:46, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
I fixed the error on {{NSFWArticle}}, it was missing a closing </P> tag. --Mn-z 23:50, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

:Template:OWQ[edit source]

The following is copied to Forum:Trim back the Oscar Wilde Project?, where any discussion should move.

I manually transcluded the respective Wildeism into the first three pages (Jane Austen, Bowling, and Nuclear explosion) and listed the Wildeism template on QVFD, but now see that the Wildeism template is used in a digest of all supposed Wilde quotes. The intent (as you probably already know) is to provide a complete, alphabetical list of everything we say Wilde said, on any page. As you touched on on VFD, this is Uncyclopedia taking its fabrications too seriously, but we ought not to proceed without wider input, and perhaps should not have deleted {{OWQ}}. Ann Arbor[edit source]

You must have a separate talk page where everyone else goes.

Anyway, I see you touched down at Ann Arbor recently, with salutary results. But the rest of the article is crap. It has nothing to do with Ann Arbor except for a smattering of names of people and places from Michigan, most of which have nothing to do with Ann Arbor either. (Saginaw is one hundred miles north.) I grew up one town over, however, and am inclined to take this over.

We have, on VFD, encountered vanity pages from the University of Michigan, and it's odd that there's no such influence in this article.

For now, I've started with a faux Infobox and a real intro. Spıke ¬ 23:30 28-Oct-10

I don't recall ever editing the page. Looking at the history, it appears all I did was purge the inside joke of Kentuckistan --Mn-z 02:04, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

The Grue Army[edit source]

Hey Mnbvcxz, Meganew and I were wondering, if you would like to join the grue army. If so just write back here or on my talk page and Meganew or I will add you. You can click all the links at the top of that page to read all about us. Or go here. Lastly, I don't know if you're one for userboxes but we do have this really cool one you get if you join:

What purpose does joining it serve? --Mn-z 02:02, November 18, 2010 (UTC)
Well we're fighting the great fight against vandals. Here's a list of benefits:
  • A free userbox
  • Pudding
  • A giant sandwich
  • Immunity to death by Grue, except in Text Adventures
  • Ability to eat vandals
  • Protection during flamewars
  • A chance to run over the vandals you report with a Big Rig
  • A nice, fuzzy feeling inside
  • Being able to add cool stuff to your sig (if you get high enough).

Gresham's Law[edit source]

Thanks for the correction in the Forum. I have corrected my message and deleted yours, to keep the con alive. What is happening there is that Iwillkillyou333, who has just (loudly) returned to the board from some sort of absence, is taking the subject of that Forum dead seriously, and a couple of us are stringing him along. Uncyclomedia[edit source]

If your assertion in the Forum is correct that Uncyclomedia hasn't had anything to do with us since "about 2006," then the UnNews Front Page needs editing. Can you point me somewhere so I can learn the details? Spıke ¬ 14:34 22-Jan-11

The "split" was related to the sale of uncyclopedia.org to Wikia back in 2006. Originally, Uncyclomedia was supposed to coordinate the various foreign language uncyclopedias and other sub-projects, but it never really got off the ground. I not really sure exactly how it happened, since I wasn't active until 2008. It had something to do with carlb, who runs Uncyclomedia and hosts the non-wiki foreign uncyclopedias, effectively retiring from this wiki after it was sold to Wikia. Also, there was been various "personal" drama between our site and Uncyclomedia over the years, mostly related to carlb's crusade against Wikia. Some examples can be seen Forum:Foreign_Office_translations_as_a_copyright_problem and Forum:No_more_Wikia,
I really don't know the particulars of what happened, you'll need to ask someone who has been here longer. --Mn-z 15:17, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks; discussion now moved from your user page where I mistakenly put it. Spıke ¬ 15:27 22-Jan-11

I studied this a little more and wound up just asking Mordillo if he has an opinion about it. I don't care about the legal issues (unless the lawyers get in the way of us having fun and being creative, which is not inconceivable) nor about protecting my work (service is what I sell, and the work product generally belongs to someone else anyway), nor do I resent Wikia making money off us under the "advertising" business model, unlike some of our rebel spirits, nor about foreign-language wikis using my stuff without pointing to me personally. Do you have an opinion about the presence of the Uncyclomedia logo on the UnNews Front Page? Spıke ¬ 01:25 23-Jan-11

Perhaps those forum posts were a bit confusing. Basically, it was carlb and his associates bringing up reasons why Wikia shouldn't be hosting Uncyclopedia. The community here really doesn't care about the legal issues of internal copy-left violations or the fact that Wikia might be making a few cents from hosting a translation of our articles on an ad-supported wiki.
Like I said earlier, I don't know what went down when and where. I do know that site has very little to do with this one, yet it gives the impression otherwise. The only relationship we have with it helping to coordinate the foreign language inter-wiki links, and even then, it is in no way "in charge" of what happens here.
With respect to the link, UnMeta is likely to confuse people regarding who is charge, so I'd suggest its removal. --Mn-z 03:20, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. Am getting the same impression from Socky on IRC just now. Spıke ¬ 03:54 23-Jan-11

Template:AoED[edit source]

Ok, I don't mind People adding to the AoED template, but, why are you saying is that their Hot Dog eating competition is an evil force to be reckoned with? A hot dog eating competition is an Event, not an organisation or a Person. Just think about that, as even though it is in Relation to the Subject, It is missing the point of the template, This template is a Hate template, Not a template categorizing a Fictional organisation. - Another n00b 11:13, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

The article in question is in fact titled: Axis of Evil Hot Dog Eating Competition. Since its featured (granted it was featured in 2005) and mentions the axis of evil in the title, it more or less needs to be on the template. --Mn-z 12:58, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

How about now? I added it to a "See also" section so that it is clear that the Hot dog Eating Competition is not Evil but is relevant to the Template. - Another n00b 13:07, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

It works, I have better stuff to edit war over. --Mn-z 13:09, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, Mn-z - so, I wrote a new version of Trig Palin. I'd like to move the original page to Trig Palin/Classic and replace Trig Palin with my rewrite. FFW and templates[edit source]

While tagging crappy, useless templates is of course important, some of the ones you're tagging are popularly used in userspace where they aren't doing any harm. So please check the Whatlinkshere of a template before tagging it. Thanks!  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 16:37 Jul 24, 2011

While I have stopped ffw-ing templates for the moment. I don't see why use in userspace should be a reason to save a template. If they still exist, they will creep back into mainspace and/or encourage others to create crappy, useless templates. Also, BUTT POOP!!!!. --Mn-z 16:41, July 24, 2011 (UTC)
Also, some of said templates would be more appropriate for VFD. Sir SockySexy girls.jpg Mermaid with dolphin.jpg Tired Marilyn Monroe.jpg (talk) (stalk)Magnemite.gif Icons-flag-be.png GUN SotM UotM PMotM UotYPotM WotM 16:42, 24 July 2011
Cuz usually we try not to do things that impact userspace. There are plenty of templates that already exist for userspace-only purposes, like userboxes and such, so a few extra templates wouldn't hurt. (That said, those could potentially be subst'd and then the templates done away with...) Nevertheless it's a project outside the scope of FFW because of its complexity; deleting used templates requires a bit more attention than just deleting an article (or an unused template, for that matter).  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 16:45 Jul 24, 2011

Worst 100 LOL Cats[edit source]

The thing about this article is that it's a bunch of LOL Cats and it's hard to make LOL Cats funny. I also feel that the 100 entries hurts the article because most people will not want to sit through 100 pictures of LOL Cats. However, I see that you care about this article, so I recommend that you move it into your userspace and get a pee review because other people might actually find the article hilarious and I just don't realize --Talk to me! Heya[edit source]

I appreciate that you may feel strongly about certain matters, and while you are welcome to share your views, in the future, could you please try to pay more attention to where you're posting your replies? It seems like you've helped derail an entire forum into an off-topic flamewar partly as a result of mixing up one forum with another, so please, read what people are actually saying before you reply. Thanks. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 02:55, 15 August 2011

Obviously, your rant on admin dickery had nothing to do with your recent experience of admin dickery, like how Forum:There needs to be transparency when banning an established user. had nothing to do with SPIKE leaving after he was banned for a week.
More to the point, like I said in the forum:

“This issue has been brought up before. Basically, the problem is that the vast majority of admins are unwilling to agree that any changes that could possibly maybe result in them loosing their adminship. Therefore the current system of anarcho-oligarchy is probably not going to change much. Granted, the admins are better at policing themselves than they used to be, going from no policing whatsoever to very very little policing.”

~ Me on Admin accountability
In other words, there is no chance that the admins will agree to any system that could result in an admin being banned for something short of a vandal spree. You can see that in the forum now. The idea of UN:Office for admins was brought up, then that was replaced by the idea of de-opping admins, since if a person is on UN:Office, they shouldn't be an admin. Then the admins started to backtrack from the idea of de-opping, and I predict the forum will end with the admins concluding that de-opping admins will result in doom and gloom. Or, basically the system we have now and have had for years. I won't attribute bad motives to the admins for coming to that conclusion, since in the forum post, I defended the current system of feudal anarchy against the perceived alternative.
So to paraphrase my argument from the forum topic, your ability to do stupid stuff with relative impunity comes at the cost of other admins doing stupid stuff to you with impunity. --Mn-z 23:29, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
Do you have a point? Just don't derail discussions, will you? However strongly you feel about things, making things personal and going off on tangents serves noone. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 23:55, 15 August 2011
Forum:Accountability was not written in a vacuum. Upon a re-reading of it, it appears that you referenced Forum:There is a giant squirrel on IRC in your initial comments. I don't think taking into account the context of such a proposal is making things "personal" or "going off on a tangent". For example, in Forum:There needs to be transparency when banning an established user., Hype's previous conduct was brought up, and I believe relevantly so. Several users have brought the issue of admin accountability before, and the answer has always been "STFU, go take a chill pill, and go write an article".
My point is threatening to de-op or UN:Office-ify admins for admin on admin dickery or admin-on-admin disagreements is a bad idea, which I think is the emerging consensus of that forum topic. --Mn-z 00:47, August 16, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, that was an example, but hardly the topic of the entire thing. What you did was create pointless drama and distract people; whatever you might have intended or want to call it, that's still what it amounted to, much to the detriment of the entire discussion. So I guess I'll just get properly grumpy and instead of asking, tell you, don't do that again or there very well will be admin dickery involved. It doesn't matter one bit what you think of the matter of the forum; don't do that. Yes?
Yes. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 01:22, 16 August 2011
