Broken Redirect[edit source]

I appreciate you fixing my redirect page. You're right, without being linked to the original page, it's not that funny. However, technically it's not really a redirect anymore. After Olipro messed up This page does not exist, Olipro had to change it so it still looked like a broken redirect with actually redirecting to the page he created. You think I should revert it back? ---- Kippy the Elf Candycane2.png Talk Candycane2.png Works Candycane2.png Candycane2.png Candycane2.png Candycane2.png

I kind of do, actually (now the page has ceased to exist again) - despite the whole "appearing on broken redirects page" thing I was quite sorry to see it go. Then again, if it does go back on there it'll be running the gauntlet against certain admins who might get more annoyed about it than me... so I'll leave it up to you! --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 12:21, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
I think it's one of those that you just have to have, and I think most admins wouldn't delete it. Like, say, for example, if someone created an article that contains nothing but a full stop. Spang talk 12:58, 26 May 2007

Poopsmith![edit source]

Since you just voted on 10/16 articles on VFD, I hereby designate you a poopsmith. While I may not understand/agree with your voting, you obviously spend a great deal of time looking at VFD. Thus, you hereby gain the title Poopsmith, with all the rights and responsibilities commensurate with the title. Those rights and responsibilities are limited to:

  1. Adding Poopsmith to any signature you might make upon this site, or in any legal document or fan signature.
  2. Removing deleted articles from VFD and moving the entire discussion to the appropriate archive page, with the edit summary of "Poopsmithing" on each page.

Congratulations! If, for some reason, you decline this appointment, you may elect to never do any of the above. If that is the case, this appointment will be declared null and void after a period of 1 (one) week of complete inactivity on your part. Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 05/31 21:42

I find this rather hilariously ironic, since I was one of those who voted to delete the poopsmith template on the grounds that it would never be used. Which is not to say I won't take the job seriously - I've been rather close to just going ahead doing such chores anyway, but it's nice to get the go-ahead officially. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 21:57, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

This user went on vacation, sabbatical, administrative leave, or was otherwise goofing off without the knowledge and/or consent of the Admins. However, they forgot to put this template on their page at the time, thus making it a bit pointless to be placing it now. If you're lonely, or you miss them, then they are back, so you're a bit late. But you can still leave a message saying how much you missed them while they were away, with the added bonus that they'll be able to quickly reply to it, what with being back from vacation and all. No? Never mind then.

Ah - you kind of have to tailor these things to your own browser a bit - copying and pasting someone else's javascript is fraught with problems if you can't work out for yourself what each bit means. I'm going to bed in a moment, but tomorrow I'll maybe have a go at creating a script that will put up just those buttons. Seven Sisters Falls[edit source]

Saw you put a NRV on this page. I messed up and forgot to add the Under Construction tag and have done so now. It's part of a series of linked towns that I'm working on.The humour definitely helps if you have some prior knowledge, but I think if you know anything about small towns or have any preconcieved notions about small towns there should be some redeeming value.

Prior to beginning this project I did find a few similar pages where towns or provinces were spoofed. This lead me to believe that mine was a suitable endeavour. Am I wrong? Any constructive feedback is appreciated.

Roadrunner3

Hmmm... I guess small town articles aren't forbidden or anything - the problem is that it's incredibly difficult to make them truly funny for a wide audience. Add to that the fact that many, many people have tried (so many people here are automatically prejudiced against such things) and you end up with quite a challenge! As for the other examples you've found, they may just be things that have slipped past the radar or were created in older, laxer days - if they're rubbish, put them on VFD. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 09:36, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

DYK[edit source]

I was merging my version of June 8th with the most recent one. ie. the one with all the crap taken out and the one with the latest additions. I'm pretty sure I did that. You know it would be a really good idea for you to just ask me what I was doing on my talk page rather than instantly reverting a lot of work. --Kelpan 10:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but as far as I could see you just reverted a load of Zork L's hard work (and he's officially in charge of it, after all). Plus the fact that Codeine reverted you the last time you tried to do anything to DYK... --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 11:36, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

See here under DYK. If you look more closely you'll see that I've actually spent a large amount of time taking out poor DYKs. In merging the two versions I put in all the ones which had been added since I made the changes originally (which were reverted) but regrettably had not been able to redo all the minor changes made by L to existing ones yet. I was actually about to do that but found all my work to have been reverted again. Can I ask you to undo your revert yourself since if I do it then the next person to come along will just assume I'm in an edit war with you guys and revert it all again. Thanks. --Kelpan 14:50, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... I'm still not convinced. I'd probably leave in at least half the ones you took out - some are pretty funny. I'd leave it to Zork L, who does these things occasionally, or at very least talk to him before playing around with his baby! --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 14:56, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Yikes! Cyber-Stalkers (re: Vern page)[edit source]

Thanks again for your help on getting this post flagged. I'll be honest, I'd never heard of this site before happening upon a link to that entry, so I wasn't immediately sure how to rid the world of it. (It is more than a little creepy to discover a made-up biography about your dad that alleges he is some kind of pedophile, no?) I am about 95% sure the kids who created it are going to try to put something else up, so if there is some way to keep an eye on what they're posting that would be fannnntastic. I believe this all started when my dad was asked to be a moderator of sorts for some ESPN message board, and he ended up having to repeatedly ban these users for inappropriate photos/content (shocking, right? they seem like such nice kids!). Unfortunately he's not quite as cyber-savvy as he should be, and used the same handle for ESPN, Photobucket, MySpace, etc. Whoopsie.  :)

--The One In The Blue Shirt :) 11:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

That's quite all right. Unfortunately, I was an idiot and forgot to get those IP addresses before the page got deleted today, so I can't watch them. But I'll keep an eye on the space where the page was at least. I suspect they'll get bored before long and go off to some site where that sort of hate stuff is allowed. It is creepy, but we're far too used to finding that sort of thing on here; we've even got a name for it: slandanity (a cross between slander and vanity, where vanity pages are ones about people or things we've never heard of). I expect Wikipedia have it similar. Anyway, feel free to stick around and get some more positive experiences of the site - we've got a lot of stuff that actually is funny too! --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 15:58, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

P.S. Though not through official means, you actually did help to get the page deleted - I only saw it when it appeared on the list of short pages after you'd blanked most of the content!

Hey, that's all right about the IP addresses -- it's just a couple of teenage boys whose favorite past time is to harass complete strangers online, so they were probably going through a proxy anyhow. Besides ... I am relatively sure they have the collective attention span of a goldfish, so they will probably find a new victim soon enough.  :) And in the meantime I will definitely check out the site ... the whole premise of it sounds hilarious and I've always harbored a secret desire to be an editor.  :) --The One In The Blue Shirt :) 14:40, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Quite honestly, Vern is NOT a nice guy. He harasses any and all ESPN posters that don't worship Lebron James. He also harasses any and all ESPN posters that don't hold his political views. And when I mean harass, he calls other posters names and will report them as soon as he's riled them up enough to defend themselves. I have no idea about his children...or whoever wrote the above. I'm sure THEY think he's a great guy. And I'm sure his kids are nice people. But to non family members, Vern is a vicious, venomous guy. The following is a prime example http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323776 . I'm no soccer fan. But to seek out soccer fans that actually remember having problems with this guy, only to harass them more? This is a grown man with grown children apparently. Very simply, Google Erievern and do some research. People across the internet complaining about this guy. Wherever he goes he creates enemies. To his kids; I'm sure you're very nice. But you must realize, your Father is not the nicest of people. He seems to be having trouble letting go of his HS sports career (at 50 something) and he likes to insult and alienate people across the internet. I just felt that both sides of the story needed to be told.

Poopsmithery[edit source]

Hey SbU. Since you're a respectable poop smith, what do you think about creating a list somewhere on your userspace of "next-in-line-vfd-designated-poop". When I encounter VFD I almost never get the chance to post it, since it's always crowded and guarded by Zombies. So, possibly creating a waiting line? What do you think? ~Jewriken.GIF 17:24, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Hmm... interesting thought. Off the top of my head, it seems like such a scheme might get so backed up that no-one would ever get to put anything straight onto VFD ever again. I don't know if you've seen some of the pages where our regulars keep their own waiting lists, but there are usually enough on those to fill VFD 10 times over or more.
I don't know - I'll have a think about how it might be possible though, because we should indeed try to let the non-regulars in a bit more than we do. Meanwhile if you want to report anything yourself just leave it on here and I'll add it to my own list of things to VFD. Although I don't guarantee speed-deletion, because I come up against the same problem as you a lot of the time! --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 17:39, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
hmmmm....I think we should try and improve the VFD system somehow, but I haven't a clue how to approach that....did you give it any thought? ~Jewriken.GIF 18:03, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry - too busy playing with Dynamic Page Lists right now (oh, and eating, at some point, that would be a plan). Hmmmm....icecream.....:) I had a pretty nasty crash with my bicycle last night, so an ice pack would work as well.....~Jewriken.GIF 09:04, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Ooh dear, hope you're okay - I still have the scars from the last time that happened to me. Admittedly it was my own fault for trying to jump off at too high a speed, and gracefully skidding to a halt on my hands, but it still wasn't nice.
Anyway, after seeing someone on the VFD talk page complaining of this very thing, I think there's definitely a need to do something. (Not that I don't trust your word alone, m'dear!) I think perhaps if I implement this for non-VFD regulars only, and make it just a list somewhat like QVFD that I can patrol to separate the rubbish from the "just not to certain people's tastes", it might just work. I'll get to work on setting up a trial version soon. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 10:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Its a page thats still under construction, i know its not a laugh a minute, but i hope to improve it. I also read the vanity page and there is a section which says that a page has to apply to 2 of those things and the page on william hulme grammer school does. It does have a page on wikipedia and it does get a decent amount of hits on goodle, predominantly in the news. if you still disagree, then tell me and i will correct the vanity parts where ever possible

Rutger Hauer[edit source]

I revised it some more. It's still small, but at least it's not the one-trick pony that it was last week. Spikebrennan 21:27, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Ooh dear - sorry, from the point of view of an Uncyclopedian that's actually worse. We tend to prefer text in proper paragraphs rather than lists, and we're not that fond of quotes despite what the rest of the site would have you believe. I think you've picked a difficult article to make really - people who are not internationally known are very difficult to parody successfully. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 08:48, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I guess a dry sense of humor isn't what people are looking for around here. I should have put in more four-letter words and masturbation jokes-- that way the article would have been more consistent with the rest of the crap I've been seeing around here. (I'm not ranting at you, I'm just ranting in general.) I'm a little surprised that you think Rutger Hauer isn't internationally known. Spikebrennan 19:46, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

.[edit source]

User:Clown Time's user page was put up for your lounge. Since it was the author's request, I added a comment that that was not the proper place for the user page to be, but it was supposed to be at QVFD. Can you strike that nomination out?--Sir Manforman CUN.png 22:17, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Why did you put my article on the vfd[edit source]

As my article was on the vfd before and deleted but i got bradey helped me out by undeleting it and placing it in User:Richardson j/Alfred kahn and after 3 or 4 month i thought it was time to move it to alfred Kahn and you put that notice up on it . and is there anything that can be done about it . And i be talking to Braydie about it as well as i trust him even if the first meeting with him was because he blocked me once .Richardson j 00:02, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure there is much that can be done with this one, Richardson. The very first line rings alarm bells: "Alfred Khan is somebody who hates Japanese." This is just an accusation, and therefore doesn't make us laugh even if it's not true. The rape and suicide are not funny, just like they aren't generally funny when they happen for real. And as the random tag hints, a bunch of rather unconnected fictions isn't going to be all that funny - you need to tell a real story, probably one that closely parallels his real life. Your untruths should be more subtle, so that it takes just a tiny bit of brain power to work out that they are untrue. And again they should probably be connected to real life in some way. And then there's the barrier of grammar - you really need to sort that out, because it distracts from the article if we can't read it easily. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 08:37, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Pic[edit source]

If you do this in a higher resolution, with Bush's brightnest/contrast matching the background, I think it's featurable. The current version is on VFP right now, and some of the complaints are related to the execution, rather than the idea. Of course, what do I know? Just a thought..."George W. Bush, shown searching for 'Iraqian' WMDs during playtime at the White House.", or something for the caption. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:26, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Really? Wow, thanks for letting me know! Given my general drawing skills I am not really someone who expects to get a picture featured. Query[edit source]

Think back. Waay back. Was it you who, like me, voted to keep a small and unloved stub that went by the name of "Manna manna", or somesuch? I ask because a) I need a second brain to critique a page on a similar, if not identical subject, with a similar, but not identical name, and b) due to forces I can't control, I don't have access to my computer, and the other computers to which I have access can't "see" the youtube video of manna manna. As such I can't confirm that the lyrics that I have presented in the page, previously mentioned, are the correct ones (and won't be able to for some time).

Are you a) the correct person to be asking and b) the correct person for the mission in question, previously mentioned? If either a, previously mentioned, twice, or b, previously mentioned a couple of times, are "no", or is "no" and "no" for a second time, or if either or both are a response or responses in the negative, my apologies. Also, Mah Nà Mah Nà...doo doo doo-doo doo. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 02:40, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Ummmmm... Yes? Between all those alphabeticals and commas, I think I may have no idea what you just said.  :-) But the answer is yes. I think. I voted keep on that page, and I have the video on my computer. Please take a deep breath, repeat my mission, and I shall accept it. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 16:46, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh. Keep it simple. Got it.

  1. Watch that youtube video
  2. Read this
  3. Compare and contrast the two, paying particular attention to the lyrics in the song versus the lyrics on the page (hopefully they match or, failing that, they're close).
  4. ???
  5. Profit! Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 18:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Muppets Tonite was the only bit of the Muppets I've managed to see all of, to be honest - for the rest I've relied on odd bits of repeats and things which don't come around nearly as often as they should. I had to clear a path to my fridge (which, like my computer, I haven't been able to use for a week and a half. Unlike my computer, however, it's full of food), since it appears that I won't be able to get to it again for a couple of weeks. Long story-short: I hit my computer on the way there and watched both that version and the Muppet '76 one. One bad. One good. Also, I got to throw out a half pound of rancid prawns and four nectarines that were at the "furry" stage of decomposition. But that's another story.
The Muppets should be on more. After all, there's a TV channel for everything now. If I can click around and, say, stumble across an episode of the Two Ronnies from 1972...the little one was like a Muppet, actually. Also, I've lost my train of thought. /me shakes fist at sky. "Damn you, Ronnies!"

Re: Procrastination[edit source]

Aside from your consistent reverts, clearly the consensus is that the version of the article that does not have the unfunny journal section (yes, trust me, it's not funny) should stay, as expressed through the talk page and the ultimate measure of consensus: "Silence equals consent". Aside from that, the current version on the page is Version 3 of what was on the forum (see here), whereas the version you seem to be mistaking this article with is Version 2 (see here). You're simply reverting my edits, then citing a forum discussion that "decided" on a completely different version. So because of this, it is my understanding that the forum relating to this article is completely irrelevant, because if you were reverting to the version that was decided upon in the forum, you would have reverted it to Version 2, as would I have. So it's not about me trying to "get my way", as it is me trying to preserve what I, and others feel, is a funnier version. Additionally, I'd like to point out that the following excerpt:

"DigiWebuary 201, Spaceyear 41.128: Dick Clark's untimely passing yesterday really has motivated me to improve this page. I'll get to it after lunch."

I'm afraid I'm not quite going to come down on your side on this one, Manforman. You seem to be giving as good as you're getting to me. At very least, this guy's minor edits were good for the style and shouldn't have been reverted en masse. And maybe he had a point about the confrontational style of certain bits - okay, so you probably don't have to get rid of entire paragraphs like he did, but certain sentences could do with a rethink perhaps, and maybe if you'd carefully worked around this guy's ego he might have helped you. As for his other ban, that is a separate issue, and I don't think a person should have all their comments on the talk page striken out because of one (and a half) mistakes. If you can't resolve the issue when he returns (and please do try), come back here then. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 20:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I would like to know how did you turn this image (Strange.PNG) into a direct link to your user page in your sig. Matheus Wahl Who?  38,457  Portuguese 13:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

It's like this. Upload the image, then click on the filename of the image on its Uncyclopedia page. The URL (address in the top bar) should look something like Strange.PNG (the URL of the above image). Then, in your sig, you format the link like this: [http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/User:Matheus Wahl <Image URL without brackets>]. This makes it end up as you desire. Incidentally, the way I've done mine is arguably way too complicated. I think the way Ljlego has suggested isn't perfect, as [http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/User:Strange_but_untrue http://images.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/images/4/49/Strange.PNG] gives: Strange.PNG which has an arrow after it for most skins. Let me see if I can find the way to get rid of that... Ah yes:
<span class="plainlinks">[http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/User:Strange_but_untrue http://images.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/images/4/49/Strange.PNG]</span>
gives: Strange.PNG

I was just wondering, if you could explain to me why you blank user pages of users that have lost nominations instead of deleting them (i.e. User:Pat Sharp) I don't see how they serve a function to Uncyclopedia. Human[edit source]

Come on, I'm not the only one edit warring and you know that. You're doing it as well. But let's just read what each other writes and try to make a version that combines the one you like and the one I do. I'm sure we can come to some agreement without any doubtful ban warnings. R. Daneel Olivaw (Gaia - Foundation) 16:13, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Okay. Perhaps I should have gone through the reasons in painstaking detail with you, but I don't have the time to do that for everyone I revert. The first thing to realise is that Uncyclopedia is not Wikipedia. We have our own rules, guidelines and common sense which you'll get to know when you've been here longer. The main one I'm using here is that you don't delete something just because you personally don't find it hilarious. Because often, another person will find it funnier than you do. Again, once you've been around a while you get to realise what sort of thing people like. You can call this something like "Neutral Point of Funny" if you like. It's why I resist deleting at least some of the sex-jokes despite not caring for them particularly, and it's why I don't use my adminly powers to delete everything I don't like. --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 14:18, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, I guess I missed any part where I mentioned Wikipedia or guildelines over there... but aside from that, did you even read what I wrote? I suggested to make the next version of the article one combining "Neutral Point of Funniest" bits from the version you reverted to and the one I actually liked. If we do that, everybody's happy and the article is better. Just answer with your opinion to this with a yes or no. Besides, I didn't revert it simply because "I didn't like it". Maybe people actually didn't like what you called funny, therefore the article moved on, did not get vandalized, and you are the one who reverted that whole process. Just a possibility. Both sides must be taken into account, not just the admin side. You are pretty much doing what you last described on your last sentences. You're reverting a version you didn't like to one you did and trying to convince me you're right just because you're an admin. Everything you are accusing me of doing, you are doing yourself. P.S.: I'm actually pretty flexible towards new guidelines and didn't once even think of applying wikipedia guidelines here. Please, I'm just a bit new at Uncyclopedia, I'm not a complete moron. R. Daneel Olivaw (Gaia - Foundation) 01:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Of course I might be wrong. But since this is mainly about deletion and not changing stuff for other stuff (except for the quotes at the top, which tend to change faster than most people change their sheets), I'm thinking it's not going to matter a whole bunch if I just assume I'm not, and go with the fact that admin decisions are final. For the record (having read through the changes for the millionth time - yawn), there are a couple of paragraphs in there I thought were borderline, but the way the deletion was done was with no regard for consistency or sense-making. Case closed. (Please?) --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 12:37, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! --Cajek 04:51, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Hiya - overuse of the USERNAME template is generally frowned upon around here, especially on something that's going to be seen by so many people. It sounds strange perhaps, but it really does unnerve people to see their name on a page, so we try to restrict it to pages where it serves comedic value to scare, like You. As for the suggestion thing, it was a nice thought, but for one thing it wasn't inside the template box, and for another I figured you'd already suggested all the articles by putting them in the template in the first place! --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 08:27, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

A Worthy Sacrifice?[edit source]

Thank you for your comment and suggesting the appropriate course of action for me. I will follow your wisdom on this matter...

I do however have a related idea on a slightly different note... I see that several of the "more likely to be vandalised" pages e.g "Gay" are protected from edits by the likes of us n00bs and IPs.... I wonder if this is a good idea. I guess that they got protected because they kept getting vandalised. Assuming that the average run of the mill vandal will want to add something somewhere would it not make sense to allow them to do their dirty deeds in the places which they really want to? My thinking is that if they did, it would then be easier to find what they had done rather than having them go to a less obvious place and have their fun there... If we allowed edits to "certain key vandal magnet pages" then the experienced vandal reverters would know those pages well and could easily keep an eye on them. I think I get the point of protecting the "vandal magnet" pages, but is it not the case that this is done at the expense of causing more general vandalism through the whole of the rest of the Uncyclopedia? By protecting the pages I feel that we do not stop the vandal, just move him elsewhere where he/she is more difficult to find and deal with?

I guess this idea has probably been considered before, in which case I would be grateful if you could provide a link to the discussion (I am very interested in the subject). Also if you think that I am causing trouble here (please, please) simply tell me to drop this one and you will hear nothing more from me on this matter... If this is a new idea, which I doubt, I will write a better version of my comments about and post them in the dump... I'm new here, and definitely not trying to cause cause any trouble, I just wondered if this might be an idea which had not been though of before, that's all. Your comments very welcome... MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 16:04, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm... I think this one might be taking the good idea a smidgen too far. People do tend to vandalise everything they can get their grubby little paws on, and I think unprotecting the popular ones would just lead to more vandals, and so more work for no practical gain. It's all a delicate balancing act.
Anyway, keep observing the whole business - searching for key words in the forum namespace is always fun (although the search capabilities are a bit rubbish). Just don't be proposing too much too early, because to be frank people will tend to not listen to you so much until you've been around a while! Not me, obviously, I'm much too... I'm sorry, did you say something?  :-) --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 02:04, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Chuckle! Chuckle! Actually, I just noticed that Gay is now not protected any more (neither is the main page for that matter it seems!), so I have decided to "keep an eye on it" to see what happens... Many thanks for your words of advice... MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 02:13, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
