Okay so I was thinking one day (cue for applause) when I asked myself: I wonder where most of these people's usernames come from? I mean some of them are probably plays on people's real names, but others may have long and complicated histories. Anyway, I invite everyone to present a discription of how they came up with their username. --ZB 15:59, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- Zombiebaron: Okay I'll go first, my name came from a character in a game I used to play. I used to be unbeatable with my Zombiebaron...oh those where the days. Anyway, when I was younger, I thought "Why not get an email?". But then I was like "I need something no one has taken." (Because numbers are so ugly) So I looked around my room, and saw my beutiful miniture. The rest, as they say, I'll leave up to your imagination. --ZB 15:59, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

- Orion Blastar My name came from a Space Pirate I played in the role playing game of Traveller. It is spelled Blastar because I wanted a unique name and I put Blast and Star together to make Blastar. --2nd_Lt Orion Blastar (talk) 16:30, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- CartoonDiablo well I was a giant fan of Adult Swim and still am and wanted to join the forums so I wanted an odd "Cartoony" name but wanted to sound cool so I wanted to bring in demons to the mix. Then I thought hey Diablo sounds cooler then demon so there came my name and sounded cool so I just stuck to it. -- CartoonDiablo

- Insertwackynamehere It was 8th grade and I was just learning html. I put down my Creating Web Pages for Dummies as I stared at the Yahoo Geocities registration screen. "What should my online name be?" I thought. I had never had to do this before (except when I was a lot younger and wanted my own email and tried going by Samuel backwards 'Leumas' I believe). I stared at the screen. Then it hit me! I can't think of name, so I'll let others think of it for me! Everyone has stupid names online followed by numbers, so why not put "Insertwackynamehere57" as my username? It sounds just like the stupid names people really use! Later on another messageboard I used "insertwackynamehere#" cause the number could be inserted as well. Later it was changed to "insertwackynamehere." Or "inswackynamehere." Or "insertwackyname." Or "wacky" or "insert." Yeah.. heh, its been over 3 years since I started surfing the net regularly and this name has been with me pretty much the whole time. --Maj Sir Insertwackynamehere CUN VFH VFP Bur. - Composure1 It's actually a pretty boring story, but the bottom line is that 8 years ago someone referred to me as "Mr. Composure" because I was so calm and composed. I wanted to make it an AIM screenname, but at the time the maximum screenname length was 10 (and MrComposure is 11 letters long). "Composure" was taken, so I made it "Composure1" and I've used it as an overall internet name ever since.--Composure1 00:45, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

- Hardwick Fundlebuggy It all began at an all night craps game with Telly Savalas and William Shatner. Telly had all his hair back in those days. It was golden and flowing, like a waterfall made of spaniels. But he knew it would all go, and it bugged him so he kept on asking Bill to mix him another Manhattan. I figured I would cheer him up with a joke, so I said "Hey, you know what's on the telly tomorrow?" and Telly said "What?" and I said "Nothing!". That was when things got ugly. Then the shooting started. Anyway, the next day I woke and decided to call myself Hardwick Fundlebuggy. --Sir Hardwick Fundlebuggy (Bleat) 08:04, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm a small/passive guy, but he liked me a lot for some reason, and affectionately called me by my nickname and did a most peculiar "woof woof woof" sound to greet me. - Codeine: Contary to popular supposition, my username doesn't indicate a predilection for opioid abuse. It stems from an addiction to Final Fantasy VII when I was at university in 1998, during which I had the (amusing to me at the time) idea of renaming all the characters after various prescription drugs - so the main character Cloud Strife became "Codeine", Barratt was renamed "Ibuprofen", Aeris was "Morphine" and so forth. The "Codeine" thing stuck as a handle/nick since then. (Jesus, it's been 8 years! It's official, I have no life.) -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 13:40, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Savethemooses: There was a time I had a different IM screenname for every day of the week. It was an addiction. One day, though, I had the realization that there were no Mooses in Kansas anymore! I decided to start a faux environmentalist movement to save the moose population in Kansas, beginning and ending with my screenname. Savethemooses is my screenname for quite a few forums and in other capacities on the net. So it has remained pretty consistent for me. And "mooses" came from my love for grammar. -- 14:01, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

- SimulacrumCaputosis: Ooo, this is going to be long. So, it all began over 7 years ago. Pokémon was on the rise, and I was swept up with the rest of the juvenile world. My favorite monster quickly became Cubone, for reasons pretty much unknown. My friend ran this message board at the time, and everyone there RP'd with Pokémon-related screen names. When he invited me, I decided to call myself "Phantom Cubone" (as the creature was associated with the dead to begin with). Everyone developed a second, darker persona, based roughly on their first (i.e., the same general type of monster but the dark side). Name changes seperated the personas, and so I decided to use Latin for my new avatar. Keep in mind, I wasn't proficient, for all I knew came from a dictionary. Anyone, "phantom" translated well enough to "simulacrum", but obviously "Cubone" wasn't going to come out right. I got "-osis" for bone, but Cu? Well, I looked at Cubone's distinguishing features, and the skull helmet came out the most prevelant. Thus, I decide to use the latin for skull, or "caput." Butting everything together, I got Simulacrum Caputosis. He then evolved into a character of my own fictions, and I've become rather attached to the guy. In fact, he's not even a Pokémon in my writing anymore, and according to the history I created for him, never was. Granted, he wears a skull upon his head, but I came up with a unique explaination for that quirk. ~SimulacrumCaputosisTheGreat*moan* F@H MUN CM NS 15:59, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

- Flammable This name comes from several places. Firstly, it was the product of an annoying orientation intoduction thing, in which I said the most interesting thing about me was that I was, of course, Flammable. Secondly, it's a product of my previous tendencies toward argumentative pugilism in discussion boards; the fact that my own statements typically never degenerated into ad hominems and nonsequiturs usually resulted in me being rather flame-able and as such, I figured this nom de plume was apropo. Lastly, it's a great game nick, good for a laugh in FPSes or MMOs.--Sir Flammable KUN (Na Naaaaa...) 20:55, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Anyhow, the word "Israelite" appears often enough that I started to giggle every time I saw it hyphenated as "Isra-" on one line and "elite" on the next. This is mainly because I am incapable of saying the word "elite" in any but the nerdiest of voices. Since 1337 means leet means elite, my screenname became Isra1337. - Sliferjam - I have very little idea what it means, but I might know where it came from. Two ideas.
- The Divine Fluffalizer - A few years ago, two things happened: 1. Either me or a friend of mine first began what has become a since-running in-joke between us and a few more, including an online friend (the one responsible for originally writing Fluffalization); describing things as fluffy, and using fluff and derived terms for various things. 2. For the heck of it, I declared myself The Holiest Being In The Universe. A year or two thereafter, I and some others began concocting crazy concepts during a couple of incoherent story games on a forum. I thought up a lot of rather... interesting stuff, which was repeatedly used and further developed. The concept of fluffiness was taken to a whole new level with the advent of The Holy Broken Chair of Fluffiness and related ideas. (the articles of that and related things are part based upon those weird stories once made, though containing no more of them than various references. except for Fluffies, which was originally a completely separate article, later adopted into the larger series and further developed) At some point further on, when and where originally I do not know, I gave myself the title of Fluffalizer, ie. bringer of fluffiness, someone who makes things fluffy. Concidering myself mock-holy, I soon added an extended form of the title: The Divine Fluffalizer. For now, let's just say it's more easily googlable. - Sikon 10:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Tooltroll - 15-odd years ago, I was the maintenance guy in an apartment building, and had a damp smelly little workshop/office/storage room in the basement. One day I came in to work, and somebody had painted "Lair of the Tool Troll" on the door. So I repainted the door and had a proper sign made up, and I've used it ever since. ••••• I my cat! 14:33, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

- Dr. Skullthumper. My username came from a skit my friend and I did in drama class, entitled Doctor Skullthumper. Interestingly, neither of our characters were named Skullthumper, but it was still an awesome name for a skit. For those who are wondering, it involved a psychologist and a nervous patient. The psychologist convinced the nervous patient to go out into the waiting room (the audience) and tell them exactly what comes to his mind. He walks out and monologues, insulting each audience member in turn ("Hey buddy, it looks like you just won a 100-yard dash in a 90-yard gym!") until he finally annoys the psychologist and leaves cured. It was a lot of fun to do — drama is filled with fond memories. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 00:27 Dec 18, 2007

But for some reason, probably due to the influence of an ill-natured fairy or some malicious impostor or sockpuppet, I was not allowed to have pietopper, so I changed it to pieface in honour of slapstick comedy, which is the most I could ever aspire to. At one point in the first game, you get a magic wand, and when you use it, it makes this crazy sound effect. Like, really crazy. My onomatopoeic attempt at spelling it was Wepudicabok at first, to which I later added an H for no reason whatsoever.
