Skibidi Toilet is a web original by a Russian YouTuber by the name of DaFuq!?Boom! about toilets that want to take over the world. Skibidi Toilet has earned the valuable rank of "brain rot content" by many people online. The series has gone viral and gained the creator 7 million subscribers in a single month. As a result, Michael Bay wanted to make a movie about it; THANK GOD it got cancelled.
Themes[edit | edit source]
According to reviews, contents include:
- Toilets with human heads existing, flying, and shooting lasers.
- Various electronic devices with human bodies walking around enjoying life.
- Wars
- The Great Depression of 1929 to 1941
This sounds like something from the 1960s counterculture; but the creator has put in some effort to bring a modern vibe to the series. See below.
Artistic value[edit | edit source]
You can't help something that's not real, so don't even try. |
From the moment of its inception, Skibidi Toilet was set out to become the most talked-about show in the world.
Analyst Egesseno Ixen says that the series keeps people hooked with its messianic giant robots coupled with a unique art style. Notably, the animation is "smooth if badly antialiased"; close-ups of the floor can be blurry, and particles look like pasta sauce. These features, combined with the frequent use of first-person viewpoints, provide a viewing experience reminiscent of video games and distinct from Hollywood movies. On the other hand, the character and weapon models are rather detailed, bearing a retrofuturistic but never "plastic" look.[1]
Fortune-telling by thinking on a (regular) toilet attributed the success of the series to "filling a vacancy in the portrayal of shared human experience":
The sleek porcelain flush toilet is a product of modernity. Never has such a flawless object been made by humans, far exceeding both utility and smoothness of the boring granite sculptures. However the toilet had been an unsung hero, simply because the world considered it unclean and liked to exclude it from cultural discourse! Fortunately, we have the series to the rescue; it fuses comedy and action into a unity, and brings viewers a toilet-based mystery unparalleled in history.[2]
Thus, Skibidi Toilet is likely to leave its mark on global culture and be present among the great works of art in the new millenium. A century later collectors will pay handsomely for a Skibidi Toilet plushie like they do for modernist paintings today.
