Hi![edit source]

I'm defiling your freshly archived talkpage because I'm nice like that. Huzzah! Also, good to see you around again. Also also, you might want to update your talkheader about the TAW, and all. Since it happened and went rather well and shall hopefully continue to happen... what, yearly? Something like that... 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 04:44, 6 February 2011

 • Thanks. :) It depends on what contests are already running this year. I was hoping to run a second contest after Christmas vacation but I've been kind of busy lately. It should be back in the fall though. BitchNigger 07:08, March 9, 2011 (UTC)
I'm glad the hi! is already there, as I was about to put the title on. I haven't dropped in for tea in a long time, so Hello! and how'v'ya'been? I wanted to steal something here but you've got everything nailed down. Not much going on, things and halves of things. I will check back here in the next few minutes (months) to see you and talk again. I will bring a hammer, to use the prong side to get some of those nails up. Fair winds. Aleister 00:45 9-2-'11

Hello Again[edit source]

I asked you to create a template for me a very long time ago before I figured out what formating was. Do I have to ask your permisson to delete it? Hi, images[edit source]

I see you're removing red links where pics used to be, even on original image pages. I thought that if a pic was on a user page it was protected, esp. someone's original images. How did these files get deleted? As you know I'm a critic of the photo deletion decision (not policy), but, like I said, if a pic was on a user page it was being used. Why not just list where the pics are missing and ask Lyrithya to put them all back? Thanks. Aleister 23:13 22-3-'11

I usually undelete images on a case-by-case basis. Some redlinked images were originally deleted because of cyberbulling, copyright violations or were otherwise "inappropriate". It is odd that a lot of images in userspace were deleted. It could be that the list ZB was sent from Wikia listed all (or most) the images that weren't on mainspace. Right now, I'm going through files at Special:WantedFiles one at a time so I'm not sure how many there are just yet. Personally, I think its faster to just undelete the used files as I find them. BitchNigger 23:38, March 22, 2011 (UTC)
I took a look, and most of these weren't deleted by Zombiebaron or myself, anyhow. Haven't seen any that were, at least. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 23:46, 22 March 2011
Well I was speaking of deleted userspace images in general and not specifically those deleted by you and ZB. Its something I see from time to time but more common since the wikia switchover. Actually there's a few weird bugs I've run across over the past year although it could just be I'm using lousy computer. Often its simply a matter of overlooked vandalism or not having a notorphan tag. I haven't undeleted a whole lot of the recent images yet though the ones I have are usually used on user talk pages/subpages. File:Highway.jpg, however, was linked to a mainspace article though which makes me wonder how accurate the list ZB has. BitchNigger 00:33, March 23, 2011 (UTC)
Not terribly so. But it was the best we had. Now something like folks do with the toolserver with wikimedia projects... oh, to have proper database reports, now that would just be glorious. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 00:43, 23 March 2011
That's true. Uncyclopedia used to have a great offline site for that, similar to what Wikipedia uses, that listed pretty much everything under the sun. Seems to have disappeared during the switchover though. MadMax 01:06, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

ethical trade and No offense[edit source]

Dear Mad Maxm,

Thanks for uncyclopediafying the two articles. I appreciate the work. No offense, but could you please move ethical trade back to ethical trading. Ethical trade is the production and distribution of products from developing countries to first world markets (usually at a higher price and sold in faggy stores). Ethical trading is the investigation of companies through an ethical lense and recommending or deciding whether to invest in them or not (regarldess of if what country) whether product or service :) :) :) . Thanks again for the links and category additions, and No offense but I think that you are a cum nugget. :) --ShabiDOO 21:54, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Requested articles[edit source]

I went on a bender today, and I hope my quality is satisfactory. I went ahead and upped my own reqawards below the one you did yesterday, I think I did it right.

What I feel I need help on, is when to stop. In my life, I am often one to keep going to no end. Eg, my Silent movie I have whole sub sections in mind for that, but is it appropriate to create a whole zombie silent movie "universe" for a joke that pretty much runs itself out int he opening paragraph. The remainder of the article just stays in universe with some twists. I was happy to find Eraserhead in the requested articles because quite randomly, I chose a Harold Lloyd image that was eraserhead-esque. I also thought it looked like the redlinked Klaus Nomi which I am also prepared to write. But, I digress. It was just luck that I was able to link my two most recent new articles. Which is why I chose somerthing completely different to allay fears I was all zombie all the time. Personally I think Zombie jokes and bacon jokes have become cliche, but they did work in my silent film one so I went there. Yea Cheers Thanks a Lot, you can never have enough Hats, Gloves of Shoes. --K3vin-Yak-Bak MUN,CM,NS 22:33, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not exactly the best person to ask for writing advice but, in my experience, editors who try to create an entire series of articles (e.g. Bloodbath, Disney, Wheeling Jesuit University, etc.) generally end up burnt out and left half-finished. Most style manuals suggest Full Name (F.N.). With the initials being used in the remainder of the piece. A proper redirect would solve any concerns, if in Oz, it is so widely known as AFL, like the US's own NFL, keep in mind the size of the Australian audience. I'll ask around to see who can edit the spam filter. In the meantime, you could try substituting "8" for another term (e.g. eight). MadMax 21:50, April 24, 2011 (UTC)
It blocks single digits on newlines followed by spaces - solve this by using a different character in it somewhere, or putting a . after the number, or a space before... although in the case of UnDictionary, it should probably be using #s for the numbered things, anyhow. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 22:06, 24 April 2011
I have to do more work to avoid spam filters?--Jokerman dance to the nightingale tune, bird fly high by the light of the moon...Respond 22:14, April 24, 2011 (UTC)
To be fair, you probably shouldn't be using single digit numbers as digits in articles at all. Ain't proper. If it's a list, that's what # is for, and if it's a number in prose, spelling them out is preferred for the short ones... 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 22:36, 24 April 2011

My apologies[edit source]

Hi MadMax. You can scratch my rather rude comments earlier. I didn't realize you used the "you username" template into the DYK suggestions so my foolish self thought you were directing them at me. Thanks for adding my suggestions, but they still do not appear on the official DYK page. Maybe you can look into this when you have time? Thanks! --none 04:22, April 28, 2011 (UTC)

The main DYK template uses the <choose> </choose> tag to pick seven or so "facts" from the list at random. You should see your submissions if you refresh the page often enough. MadMax 09:29, April 28, 2011 (UTC)

MEGA TOURNAMENT[edit source]

Mad max,,,,a huge tournament jambouree all at the same time is a phenomenal idea. Especially with all the different categories, some of them open and closed. This is great if you run them in sync. as if you run 10 at a time, i have the feeling that most of them will work really well and maybe one or two will peter off, but it doesnt matter if you are running a whole bunch of them at the same time. A chance to experiment. I really like the different ideas for touraments and especially that they are single elim. One thing I can tell you, having tried out a single elim tournament in wikipedia was that it fell flat in the group section, not a single group turned out anything in the end. Something to think about. Anyhoo...let me know if you need help with anything :) --ShabiDOO 13:30, May 1, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I've been trying to come up with some unique ideas for new writing contests. It would be great to have an annual competition which has a different theme or format, such as a tournament, each year. I'd love to hold some of the tournament ideas though I'd be happy to get just one of the ground. I guess it depends on how much interest there is.
One of the problems I've been trying to figure out is holding a tournament larger tournament. Since an 8-person tournament would run at least three weeks, anything larger than that could go on for months. I've considered a few ideas. Maybe running two 8-person tournaments at the same time or holding each round every other month. I'd appreciate any help you can give. I'm definately open to suggestions. Thanks for signing up. :) MadMax 20:35, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
My pleasure man. I would suggest trying several different 4 person tournaments all at the same time. If you make it informal, youll see which ones work and which ones need to be tinkered with (though theres no reason they should fall flat, intuitively guessing). One thing I really suggest is not limiting the amount of judges. With happy monkey we ended up being 5 judges in total and while there was a lot of similarity in the judging, there were also major differences, and the more judges you have the more unpredictable the outcomes and balanced (in theory) and so next time with HM I dont plan to limit the judges. It also doesnt hurt to brand the tournament (come up with a logo and stick it everywhere you talk about it etc...). Majic man is good at that. I also see nothing wrong with a tournament taking a long time. Theres no reason you couldnt have a 16 person tournament with 1 month increments. Your whole thing seems really well thought out so far and a groovy idea. --ShabiDOO 21:57, May 1, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I've been feeling a little iffy about the present judging system myself. In theory, it works when judging the opening round and semi-finals but I'm not quite sure what works best for the final round. Should it be a combination of the existing judges, a new set of three judges or should it be decided in a special VFD? I do like the idea of holding multiple tournaments at once to test different variations. MadMax 00:25, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

A couple things to think about. The VFD thing works well in a one hour contest, the idea is to get a bunch of articles out, and some of them are deleted off and if anyones who is deleted likes it (and who cares, it was all done in only an hour), they will work on it in the user space. Works well. If I were to spend a week writing an article (that a few dozen people have probly read) and then a few people publicly trashed it infront of others (and people can say some really acidic stuff on VFD) Id feel pretty raw about it. I spent a fair bit of time on my pic in Zombie Barons picture and I only got one vote, I dont care cause judging is subjective and the winner deserved to win, but if a bunch of users just threw my picture in the garbage with (what the hell is this shit...kind of attitude and voted to delete it, I would never sign up for the tournament again) though thats just me. Second thing, the VFD wouldnt rank the articles just decide which are not to be deleted. People are lying if they say they entered a tournament only for the fun of it and nothing more :) An unrelated thing to think about, most competitions have three judges, cause, thats just the way its always been (atleast how I have seen). And an even more unrelated thing, I would also recommend encouraging judges that dont judge often, and or dont spend time on VFH or VFD, youll get a much more varied point of view on the articles if you can pull that off. --ShabiDOO 00:45, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Ali[edit source]

Hello Maddest of the Max's. Would you mind deeply if I reverted your edit and name change on Ali vs Frasier? The lead doesn't fit with any of the story, and the name "Ali vs Fraiser" is much of the joke (are you a boxing fan? If so, never mind. But if not, the Muhammad Ali Joe Frazier fights were a big deal in terms of boxing history and fan appeal. And I had left a note with Funnybony to come work on the page, with his knowledge of boxing and his track record of late on boxing articles. So, yeah, would that be okay, or do you want to redo the page too? Thanks. Aleister 10:28 13-5-'11

Sorry I didn't mean to interfere. I reverted my edits earlier today. I used to watch a lot of boxing when I was younger so I'm looking forward to how the article turns out. I'd be glad to help if you need it. MadMax 18:04, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Merging articles[edit source]

You seem to be the only one around here who has any idea how that's actually done. So... ah... how's that actually done? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 08:39, 15 May 2011

It's pretty straightforward. If you find two articles of essentially the same topic, say from Category:Articles to be merged, just copy and paste the text to the older article. The talk page should also have name of merged article to preserve the edit history. Its pretty useful for stubs as well as articles in Category:Articles to be expanded and other time-maintenance categories. If both articles have different styles of writing, or are about different subjects, an alternative is to move one to a more descriptive title and add about, whoops or a similar disambiguation notice. MadMax 10:28, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
Alright, thanks, man. 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 17:09, 16 May 2011
Hope that helps. :) MadMax 12:28, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

I click on edit a page that desperately needs a rewrite and it looks very confusing with alle the brackets. I can't seem to find a page that explains those to me. – Preceding unsigned comment added by John McSchweeb (talk • contribs)

I'll answer for you, hope you don't mind Max. If you are struggling with editing generally try this article. That should explain what these brackets are for. Any brackets that look like this mean that a template of some kind is being generated on the page, you don't need to worry about that too much; if you are struggling try and find another page where someone has used the same kind of template you want to use and then copy that. You can also check out this page which has some helpful pages on editing. I hope that helps. --Chiefjustice3DS 09:41, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

Single-elimination tournament[edit source]

Yesterday, I was talking to Dr. Skullthumper about trying to revitalize/call attention to Uncyclopedia:Ideas, and I suggested that we do a single-elimination tournament a la March Madness. He said, "Oh, like MadMax's idea, then." I said, "Yeah, I guess," but meant, "I doubt it, considering I'm a genius and nobody could have possibly come up with this idea before I did."

I was wrong. You totally did come up with it before I did. I could try to Thomas Edison my way into getting credit, but instead, I would like to simply propose that, once your trial run is over, you have the first single-elimination tournament held with your experimental format be a rewriting extravaganza, with the caveat that only pages on Uncyclopedia:Ideas are fair game for rewriting. We could start out with as many people as want to participate and then just whittle them down in however many rounds would be necessary (we could always have a flight system if the numbers get too unmanageable for one bracket). Anyway, let me know how you feel about the idea.~~ Sir Ljlego, GUN  [talk] 03:49, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah that sounds like a great idea. I was originally going to propose an "official" tournament at the end of the year (involving either NOTM or WOTM winners), but we could try holding one over the summer. I had planned on starting the second TAW competition in late-June/early-July (and the third in late-September/early-October). Do you have a specific date in mind? MadMax 19:00, May 25, 2011 (UTC)
I didn't really have one in mind, but now that I'm looking at the TAW competition it looks like they share a similar philosophy, so is there any chance I could hijack the summer timeslot for this, just to see if it works?~~ Sir Ljlego, GUN  [talk] 19:07, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks again. --ShabiDOO 00:06, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
P.S. really consider putting all the contestants in one big bracket and eliminating half of them each time. I also think that one week is really more than enough time to pull out an article. Actually, the IP you're referring to was an "ordinary" vandal (meaning someone who vandalized a single article). My blocks are more on the administrative side. Basically this means when I've indefinitely blocked an IP it was usually over something serious (e.g. vandal/blanking/page moving sprees, posting spam, shock images, proxy IPs, cyberbullying, etc.). I generally leave other admins to deal with "ordinary" vandals. I used to have a more detailed explanation when I was still editing regularly. MadMax 15:29, June 7, 2011 (UTC)
Ya big softy! I would often see a guy who I thought needed a block, then I look and see that Max has already reverted them but not blocked them. Who is a humble MrN9000 to override MadMax regarding who requires a block... Many souls were saved... MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 16:16, Jun 7

Kriptonite[edit source]

Hello. There is a VFH page which needs to be moved to Kryptonite. I've already moved Kryptonite to Kryptonite (Earth element) but the name needs to be QVFD before the "real" page can be moved it. Can you delete the name Kryptonite so I can move Funnybony's page to it? Thanks. And I like your reasoning and banning policy above, accurate and humane, not just reactionary. Aleister 12:48 8-6-'11

About Bucket[edit source]

No, I'm not the original IP. I thought since the page was only a paragraph or two, I'd do some rewriting. Not one of my best works. I checked the IP's contributions, and he/she/it hasn't done any other edits since. Is there a rule against that sort of thing? If I did break a rule, I'm terribly sorry.--User:CandidToaster/sig 14:57, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

Oh, no. I just wanted to know to credit for creating a a requested article. :) MadMax 02:53, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

LV[edit source]

Hi, I don't know what you feel about all the stuff going on, but help on one thing (or two) if you would. You may notice that the page "UnBooks:The Old Man and LV" is in sephia. The potato logo doesn't affect that much, but the new (and I think horrible) UnBooks logo in the corner floods it with color and draws the eye to itself immediately. Can you change that back to the potato? Appreciated. And since when did UnBooks have a stupid saying under the logo ("Empty books for an empty world?" What a pessimistic piece of shit, if I may be blunt. Why aren't more admins trying to stop or revert these negative changes?)? I fear for the soul of this wiki. And since when did category Writers begin to get diffused. It's a perfectly good category name, and where I would go if I wanted to look up, well, writers. Again, fear, soul, wiki. Thanks again. Aleister 11:02 11-6-'11

Sure, I'll see what I can do (though I only have a limited knowledge of Wiki software sometimes I get lucky). I'm currently trying to sort out the Category:People category and am adding more specific categories as I go. I can add back some of the articles I removed from Category:American writers if you think its best. MadMax 11:58, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, that would be great. The page needs more sephia, not less! On writers and other cats, I was told and agree that putting articles in numerous categories helps people to find them. Taking writers out of category:Writers seems counter-intuitive to me, as if I were going to search for writers that's where I'd go. Ernest Hemingway is a major name who could be in many categories. Reasonable? He is also a writer with a beard, so we can diffuse even further! And he wrote standing up, so...I'll get right on that one. I'm just frustrated at the new logos and the stupifying of the wiki. Did you see the new logo for uncycouniversity or whatever the name is? The old one is one of our beautiful logos, as is the one for UnPoetia, and I fear for that one next. Sitting in corner, blanket pulled up over knees, Aleister 12:04 11-6-'11
I've noticed the mainspace logo changing recently though I assumed it was just something being tested out. Personally, I liked the original better but that's just me. I take it this is a permanent thing? I don't really visit the forums or IRC all that much so I don't really keep up with the latest news around here.
I can see your point about diffusing categories. The thing is, though, when a category gets over populated will a reader be willing to sort through hundreds of articles at a time? It can be even more difficult for people, like myself, who use low-end computers to navigate the categories. MadMax 12:44, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
You are a lucky man to stay out of the forums. They are a den of vipers (including me, one of the daylight vipers). Lots of permanent changes occurring, I like some and don't like others. Thanks for working on Old Man and LV, Lyrtheriya seems to have solved it with a sephia-like logo. Well, the categories, how much is too much? I dunno. There was even talk of breaking up the category boobage images, which has 600 pics of boobs. Who in their right mind would want to break up a page with 600 pics of boobs? Where have all the boobs gone, I will ask when that occurs. 'Aleister 12:52 11-6
As a point of information Category:Boobage Images was "diffused" during the Great Animal-Pic/Pr0n Database Creation of 2009. --Mn-z 02:38, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

George Carlin[edit source]

Yo! I was wondering if what you added acts like hotcat: DEFAULTSORT:Carlin, George. I have a hard time getting that hotcat thing yet, would that defaultsort thing help me? What does it do? Thanks Talk Mattsnow 03:29, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Normally, if you add a category to an article it will list it in order of the first letter of the category. In this case, George Carlin would be listed under "G" instead of "C". The DEFAULTSORT tag sorts the article in alphabetical order so it can be found easier in categories. The "old" way to do this was by adding the name to each category (ex. to , etc.). By using DEFAULTSORT it automatically sorts it without adding "|Carlin, George" to each category. Excuse me[edit source]

I want to work on a contest, but how do I plan a contest? The contest will be called: The Uncyclopedia Summer Extravaganza, and I had a good idea for a contest. Please tell me how to make one, and what to do. Don't worry, there is no mention of Goa Tse or anything like that.

Thanks, GiratinaOriginForme.png |Si Plebius Dato' Joe ang Man on Fire CUN|IC Kill Don't be fooled. I'm an Aussie too. | 06:54, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

There's really no one way to start a contest. I'm not that experienced myself but what I do is create a subpage using an already existing contest as a model. Then I ask around for advice from a more experienced user, like Mordillo or TKF, and eventually propose the idea on the forums to see if there's enough support for it. You also might want to talk to editors who've hosted the PLS and other contests for pointers. Hope that helps. MadMax 12:51, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

Admin[edit source]

Hey Madmax, are you an admin? I saw you huffed a page that was shat by a nuisance. I put the IP on Ban Patrol, he created 4 pages (the ones I put - HAHAHAHA no. on QVFD) Talk Mattsnow 14:08, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks I just got them. MadMax 14:32, July 15, 2011 (UTC)
The nasty banhammer! The noise of cracking skulls is so satisfying! XD If that happens again, do you have another name on IRC or you just don't go? And what about your competition? I admit, better not do any since it would interfere with this one. Talk Mattsnow 14:44, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

I usually use MadMax (or MadMaxII if the first name is in use) but I haven't really been on IRC in a long time. I mainly use library computers and IRC dosen't seem to work very well. As for the tournament, I'd try holding one but I'm just not sure there's enough interest in it. I might try again after the PLS this winter. MadMax 14:54, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia:Requested Articles[edit source]

Hi MadMax, I see that you just recently edited this, I would like to voice my opinion on this page (you do what you want with it, in no way am I dictating something here. This page is so fucking long that a PC like the one I have (shit) takes an hour to be able to scroll down the page. Instead of just complaining about it I thought of a suggestion:

Breaking down that wretched page into like 4 or 12 categories, with a disambiguation page. My idea. What do you think, because I am not compelled at all to take ideas for articles or add some to this page since it takes at least a minute to load on my PC, and maybe some other users are in the same situation as me. What do you think? Thank you for the response! Talk Mattsnow 20:49, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

I know exactly how you feel. If you notice the time it took between my last edits it took me over two hours to edit the page. Not fun. I've been trying for the longest time to find a way to make it more useable for people with lower-end computers (like the ones I use) but the only thing that seems to work is to gradually cut back on the page's content. I don't think I've added anything in over a year and I try to remove requests as soon as I can. I suggested recreating the page along the lines of Wikipedia's version back in the day but nothing really came of it. As much as I like everything on one page I think that's the best direction to go in the future. I'd definately be open to any suggestions. MadMax 21:10, July 17, 2011 (UTC)
I've just seen an edit you did on Recent Changes. All my PC skills=0 and my PC=0 tend to say:good job! It's great you take input from a relative n00b, but I feel I proved I am trustworthy. As I said, a disambiguation shit could do the trick, though I certainly don't have the same knowledge of the site as you do. Glad I could spark a good idea! Talk Mattsnow 01:41, July 18, 2011 (UTC)
If I could help with my limited skills, say so! Like tideous work on a list or something. I have a bunch of time on my hands thanks to an accident. Feel free to use me as a slave! Talk Mattsnow 01:53, July 18, 2011 (UTC)
I appreciate the offer, thanks! There's always things to do though the major project I'm working on right now is sorting Category:People (and after that I'm tagging biographical articles with . And of course I'm working on the first version for a new UN:REQ. Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope its not too serious. MadMax 02:14, July 18, 2011 (UTC)
My accident is too long to describe, let's say I will wander around the place, doing things that don'y feel like work, but if somebody ask me, I will help. Talk Mattsnow 02:27, July 18, 2011 (UTC)

Hello MadMax[edit source]

Not to put too fine a point on it, but your message wasn't funny either. My edits were deleted within one second for no reason by this frosty dude, and i called him out on it, and i'm called a spammer/10 year old by your unoriginal automated response. well, fuck you lifeless 40 year old, you're like a wikipedia admin except on a site no one cares about. i'm off to vandalize some more, since actually trying to be funny/creative just gets reverted immediately anyway.

Your edits I deemed unconstructive, instead of blanking the page in retaliation you could have talked to me maybe we could have worked something out. Vandalism just made you look worse. Also ranting at MadMax is not helping your case. ~Sir Frosty (Talk to me!) Proudly bogan 10:49, July 21, 2011 (UTC)
This is not a constructive website. It's a joke. I made jokes about how no one in wyoming pronounces ing words with g's, they're racist and have no black people, and some dumbass posed his kid in front of a buffalo and got it killed. I wasn't gonna talk to you and we couldn't have worked something out because if you think this site is about being "constructive" and deleted edits based on what you deem unfunny in under 5 seconds without even reading them, you wouldn't have been willing to work something out you would have ignored it, while blanking a page got your attention. As for MadMax, his snide, douchey, better than me cause he has a username and takes this site seriously message was deserving of a "rant". But you're right dude, cause I really care about "looking worse" and making "my case"

UnNews digests[edit source]

Actually, the UnNews digests you hacked up don't have anything to do with Special:LonelyPages being filled with UnNewses. The links from the digests were DPL links, and Special:LonelyPages ignores DPL links. The reason it's filled with UnNewses is because UnNews is now considered a "content namespace," with the result that they show up in (and clog up) special pages.

I am currently working on some kind of solution which you can see here. It's still a work in progress and the scripts need improvement, but the gist of it is it's like LonelyPages only the pages are divided by namespace. Eventually I hope to have it running steadily once a week - I'll probably improve it after the end of FFW.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know the digests didn't have anything to do with it. They can be safely got rid of.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 07:34 Jul 25, 2011

Oh ok. I wasn't 100% sure it would work until the LonelyPages updated. I don't suppose there's a way to have the SpecialPages update automatically like they used to or is that controlled directly by Wikia? Anyway thanks for the update. I hope I haven't caused too much trouble. :) MadMax 07:49, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
You're like the opposite of trouble. Anyhow, when you say "update automatically like they used to" I assume you're talking about back when they used to update more often. Yeah, that's Wikia controlled, unfortunately. If I ever get to setting up a toolserver (which is sort of at the bottom of my to-do list right now) I may be able to make faux-SpecialPages that update more often than once a week or whatever it is. As it is Wikia seems to be trying to lighten their server load as much as possible so our real SpecialPages are pretty slow.  Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize  writings  critchat) 08:28 Jul 25, 2011

Un:REQ[edit source]

Hey great job! It will now be easier to look for categories, the new "layout" is great and of course, it runs very fast now! It's night and day. That must have been one hell of a job! Are you finished listing the articles? Cheers! Talk Mattsnow 16:49, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I hope everyone else feels that way. :) I filled in one or two lists but I figured I'd leave the rest until after FFW. I hope it works well for this year's TAW too. MadMax 16:58, July 26, 2011 (UTC)
Hey bro, I see you all over recent changes (learning the ropes 102) I guess. Are like adding categories to all those articles? You are adding bytes to articles so I guess it's not for reverting vandalism. I just recently started using HotCat, is that the operation you are doing? Sorry for my Noobish interaction. Maybe I should lurk more. Talk Mattsnow 04:53, July 28, 2011 (UTC)
An Uncy admin casually banning vandal IPs. Another day on the job!

Mostly though I also try to clean the page up if it needs it. Unfortunately I'm adding categories the old fashioned way. A lot of the site's functions don't work correctly on my computer though I'm told that's the smart way to go about it. MadMax 05:08, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Cool bro, I am not a policeman, I was just too lazy to check! With all that ffw thing going on, I was on IRC before editing my future article a bit (as I feel I should keep a balance from editing and IRC) Are you on the chat sometimes? What's your name there? And as I have said to TKF and BF among others, it may be looked at weirdly for a N00b to voice his opinion, but I think it can improve the wiki. I like the place, for one, and I appreciate anyone who has a better understanding on formatting than I do when he does something I deem good (That's you!) I don't see you on VFH much, I guess you concentrate on one place. Talk Mattsnow 05:34, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

I used to be on IRC alot back in the day. Not so much now though. Nothing wrong with newer editors speaking up and trying new ways to improve the site. Lyrithya and Fnoodle are perfect examples of that. I'll vote on VFH, albeit reluctantly, only when it's low on votes. Since I really don't contribute articles I've never felt too comfortable expressing an opinion on what's "funny" and what's not (which is why I don't vote on VFD). There really isn't much to basic wiki formatting. This is a good overview if you need some pointers. MadMax 05:52, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Max, hope you've been well. I have what I think is good material on Belushi, could we merge it with the current boring Wikipedia spork that is up now, and make a collab? I noticed you are the person editing it. I think I have better intro and death sections than what is up now, but the current has a better middle section. If we join them it could make a winner. Whattya say, bro!? Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 19:53, Aug 8

If you think you have a better version then what's there its fine with me if you want to merge it. I'll unprotect the article so you can work on it. MadMax 20:51, August 8, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, Max, I'll do my best to use as much as possible from both. Are you the co-collaborator on this? That would be cool, real cool. Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 06:02, Aug 9
Hi Max, okay, I think it is a lot better now. The most blatantly obvious joke of John was TO-GA, which seems, therefore, corny to over do - especially for starters. And the old intro sounded identical to Wikipedia. I also felt it more powerful to simply describe his "mid-life crisis' as a mad descent into oblivion - rather than dragging it out. Is this alright? Can we call this a MadMax-Funnybony Collab? Cheers!--Funnybony Icons-flag-th.png Agnideva-small.jpg AGT-logo-small.jpg 12:39, Aug 9
I'd be glad to help if you want it. I'm not really that funny though... MadMax 17:47, August 9, 2011 (UTC)
Max, if you can think of anything to add please do... you're plenty funny. If it's okay, and you like it, then we'll call it a collab. Moving Launchpad McQuack[edit source]

Unless I am mistaken, that user (whose name I am not permitted to speak) rage-quit, and has no intention whatsoever of coming back. Why did you move that page into his userspace? --Mn-z 23:21, August 14, 2011 (UTC)

I wasn't aware of that. I've just been moving all deleted UN:REQ articles to here. MadMax 23:44, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
Why is that article on UN:REQ? Uncyclopedia:Requested articles/Incomplete article series contains a lot of article titles that probably shouldn't exist, such as every interstate highway, every (semi)-notable Finnish person, the United Republic of Beer, Stickman Macheteist, Living Shit, and that Squirrel whose name I don't mention due to bad memories. --Mn-z 23:53, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
Launchpad McQuack was originally a requested article. I thought it might be a good starting point for an editor wishing to recreate the page. As for the Incomplete article series, I guess its all a matter of personal taste. The page is supposed to list all the templates with red links (similar to this page). I don't really have an opinion on them though I think you'd be surprised what someone can do with a random topic (e.g. Bacon and Cheese Sandwich of 1905 or The toaster in Pulp Fiction). I think a lot of the templates on the page right now are necessary navigation templates, and even the more questionable ones have at least one blue link, but I don't have a problem if you want to bring them to VFD. And if any have already been deleted feel free to remove them from the page. MadMax 00:48, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Um...[edit source]

I know how you dislike red links, but changing the links to Template:BUTT POOP!!!! into links to Category:BUTT POOP!!!! isn't really the ideal thing to do. In many cases, it's specifically about that one template that got deleted. Oh I'm been meaning to get your opinion on that since this edit. I've always thought it was preferable to have Uncyclopedia resemble Wikipedia as much as possible. It'd be nice to have a general consensus on this. MadMax 02:26, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, same here. Except for that projects thing, that was stolen from uncyclomedia. Or maybe wikimedia. Or something. I can't remember. But they seemed to deserve some advertisement, neglected as they were. Was that a bad idea? 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 02:46, 18 September 2011

I don't think so. They're definitely important parts of the site. And since its a collapsible list it doesn't take up nearly as much room. Though that's just my opinion. MadMax 03:12, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

Well, that was what I figured, but even that keeps getting longer... Uncyclopedia has too many random projects. >.< 1234 ~ 16px-Pointy.png 03:17, 18 September 2011

That's true. It might be a good idea to list only the most active projects and create a list for the inactive ones. By the way, I've always wondered would it be possible to incorporate Netdisaster.com as some sort of script similar to what Tropical cyclone uses? I used it on vandalism until the owner had to shut down the engine back in 2009. MadMax 03:27, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

Foreign Office[edit source]

I looked back at it, yesterday, and yes, it was in a deep sleep for a while. Though, the international connections aren't (fully) dead yet. We still got this voting for Embassador at UnMeta (the Intercyclopedia) after all. Though, that has nothing to do with the FO (as in translating articles, everyone can do it without projects), but it has the same purpose - more international ****pedia connections. R7 (NL) 19:32, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

I think it's definitely a worthwhile project for all involved. It'd be great for each international Uncyclopedia's to share the same featured articles or even a set of basic encyclopedic articles. And again if there's anything I can do, I'd be more than happy to help out. I know some (very) basic Portuguese though I can't guarantee how accurately I could translate an article to english. The project might benefit from starting a forum post to see if any current Uncyclopedians might interested in participating. MadMax 17:12, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

Commissioner[edit source]

Hello Commissioner Max, I've been gone on and off (mostly off). Changes keep happening here that bore insect holes into my soul, things missing or gone for good with rumors of wars as well as rumours of whores. I'm dazzled. On this one thing, I just clicked on one of my pages and all the things that used to move weren't moving. The fires on the top and bottom, the dancing demons, all still as rocks and nothing makes sense any longer without action, my friend, action is where the west was won. Anyhow, am I just working on a bad machine or are these images no longer moving???? Help, I implore, and may the ghosts of halloween visit you and Boo! jump out of doorways and stuff. They are quite dangerous at this time of the year, eh? While I am here, I was doing a self-masturbation by patrolling my articles, deleting a lot of red links, but I just didn't know where to put "Rosie O'Donnell" (if that's the right spelling) on the suggested article list, since I don't know for what TV station the whale worked (or is still working). Hey MadMax[edit source]

Would it be a problem if I separated the category concerning individual celebrities (Category:Celebrities) from the category about the general property of being a celebrity (Category:Celebrity)? The thing is, most of our articles will tend to be about specific celebrities, so using a more appropriately named category for those seems like the logical thing to do. Yeah that's fine. I think the "celebrity" category is used by Category:Celebutards. MadMax 23:34, November 26, 2011 (UTC)
It's probably best to have a more neutral-sounding counterpart to Category:Celebutards for articles that don't treat the person in question very negatively. User:Pentium5dot1/Storage facility/Tangerine[edit source]

In the future, can you please drop me a note on my user talk page when you userfy to my "storage facility," unless I requested such userfication myself? I had no significant contributions to the articles in question and only discovered the userfied page when doing some unrelated maintenance.

Did I miss some discussion you had about the purpose of the "storage facility"?

In general, try not to assign me special responsibilities with respect to UN:REQ/related processes, as I will generally be too busy with schoolwork. Thank you very much. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 06:34, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry I thought it was part of UN:REQ, not a personal project. You want me to delete it? MadMax 08:19, December 3, 2011 (UTC)
No, please keep the pages that have already been userfied in this manner. What I meant is that in the future, consider userfying to somebody else first, and if you really have to use my userspace than please "talk" with me first. --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 19:05, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Steve Irwin[edit source]

I'll start an article about him in my userspace and I would not want anybody to pick the subject up while I take my sweet time to write it. Problem is, he is the top 50 wanted articles and it is fully protected, so I can't edit it. Would you please clear him from the requested articles? If I change my mind mid-article (more than unlikely!) I'll just put him back on UN:REQ. Thanks! Talk Mattsnow 19:56, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Reqaward Statistics[edit source]

Hi! I didn't know about that page. I see I wrote 4 and got 3 featured, I'd like to know which one wasn't out of curiosity? Talk Mattsnow 00:03, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

Looks like all four five were featured. My mistake. :)

 1. Boston Molasses Disaster (Featured)
 2. Rand Paul (Featured)
 3. Bohemian Grove (Featured)
 4. Strength training (Featured)
 5. Don King (Featured)

I'll correct it right now. MadMax 07:01, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

The funny thing is that when I picked these subjects, I didn't know they were requested, except for Don King! How do you know these articles have been featured and that they are on UN:REQ without spending hours connecting the dots? Do you have a special log for this? Talk Mattsnow 14:25, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

Usually I just check the history to see if it was listed on UN:REQ before it was created. I know the first three were on the list for awhile (at least since 2009) while Strength training and Don King were added after UN:REQ was revamped this year. MadMax 17:22, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

To be honest, I think it's me that added Don King and decided some time later to write it. Talk Mattsnow 18:07, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

The Battle of the River Mole[edit source]

Did you appreciate the above page at all. Romartus is hell bent on destroying it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.--217.150.99.61 14:21, December 28, 2011 (UTC)

I thought it was entertaining. Of course fans of Medieval history are probably a minority on Uncyclopedia. ;) I can see where Romartus is coming from though. There's a history of editors starting their own "fictional universes" and leaving them half finished. Some are very good (e.g. the Disney Empire series) but most not so much and just clutter the site. If it ends up getting deleted I can move it to your userspace (User:Zarathustrauk/Battle of the River Mole) so you have more time to work on it. When you're finished you could get it reviewed at UN:PEE before moving it back to mainspace. If it gets a decent score it should be safe from deletion. I hope that helps.
