Promethium

One of these is probably promethium.

Promethium is a chemical element; it has symbol Pm and atomic number 61. Every one of its isotopes are radioactive. It's quite rare, with only about 500–600 grams naturally occurring in the Earth's crust at any given time. Promethium is one of the only two radioactive elements that are both preceded and succeeded in the periodic table by elements with stable forms, the other being technetium. Chemically, promethium is a lanthanide. Promethium shows only one stable oxidation state of +3(whatever that means).

In 1902 Bohuslav Brauner suggested that there was a then-unknown element with properties intermediate between those of the known elements neodymium (60) and samarium (62); this was confirmed in 1914 by Henry Moseley, who, having measured the atomic numbers of all the elements then known, found that the element with atomic number 61 was missing (somehow. not sure how you don't notice something like that). In 1926, two groups (one Mario and one obese man) claimed to have isolated a sample of element 61; both "discoveries" were soon proven to be total bullshit. In 1938, during a nuclear experiment conducted at Ohio State University, a few radioactive nuclides were produced that certainly were not radioisotopes of neodymium or samarium, but there was a lack of chemical proof that element 61 was produced, and the discovery was not much recognized. Promethium was first produced and characterized at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1945 by some science I don't understand. The discoverers proposed the name "prometheum" (the spelling was subsequently changed), derived from Prometheus, the Titan in Greek mythology who stole fire from Mount Olympus and brought it down to humans, to symbolize "both the daring and the possible misuse of mankind's intellect". A sample of the metal was made only in 1963.

Hey, wait a second, this is just the Wikipedia article with some shitty jokes added![edit | edit source]

If you said this, you would be correct. Unfortunately, I can't be funny for shit. Well, maybe just not funny about promethium. so, as an apology to all uncyclopedians, I will try my best and be funny. here we go.

the funny section.[edit | edit source]

Promethium is (allegedly) one of the elements of the periodic table. it has many uses, ranging from rocket fuel to salad seasoning. promethium is also a key ingredient in Kraft Mac and Cheese, which gives it the orange color, although, strangely, on it's own promethium is blue(probably)

this kinda sucks[edit | edit source]

Maybe htbfanjs was right, and just writing lies sucks. the thing is, however, is that there isn't really a whole lot to be funny about promethium. seriously, read the actual Wikipedia article for it. I did read htbfanjs, but it doesn't exactly help me here. well, I've put too much effort into this, so the sunk cost fallacy is kicking in.

I give up[edit | edit source]

Promethium is just simply not funny. And that's a fact. there are no jokes to be made about it, not even the low bar ones. hmmm, what to do? I could try just being funny and not about promethium, although that would be against the point of this. Maybe let's try to copy the best?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!![edit | edit source]

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

well that didn't work[edit | edit source]

The article still isn't funny. Perhaps I need to make my own jokes. here's a joke.

the joke[edit | edit source]

A man walks into a bar. he then wakes up in the hospital with a concussion.

not the joke[edit | edit source]

Crap, I'm still not funny enough. or is my unfunniness and poor attempts at funniness funny? What does it truly mean to be funny? Isn't what makes something funny subjective? for example, I'm sure there's at least one guy who finds this shitty article funny. but to you, this article is boring, and you are going to mark it for deletion. If this truly isn't funny, then make it funny I suppose. who knows.

conclusion[edit | edit source]

In conclusion, Promethium is an element that is not funny in the slightest, and is impossible to make jokes about. It's also blue.
