Kip!!![edit]

Hi, good to see your name and all your stuff again. I've been off and on here for a few months, and hope to get back "on" again soon. Are you doing a Halloween article this year? Christmas? Stuff to do! Aleister 17:40 28-9-'11

Yeah, I've been "off and on" as well. My life has been pretty stressful these past two months, but I think I'm now starting to get things in order. I might do a Halloween article this year, if inspiration hits. I need to get back in the writing groove. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 17:43, Sep. 28, 2011
The best solution to stress is suicide. Get back to me on that when you finish. I've got one Halloween page in the works but am actually planning it for next year, as I'd like to epicsize it with links and a full-range of data (and it's not funny now, so I have to funnyize it too). I'm not on enough to do a halloween page for now, time not allowing unless I rework something old or something borrowed. But Christmas calls from the curtains! Aleister 17:46 28-9-'11

Well, this is the best I could do. Tricorn hat, pigtail, long-tailed coat, breeches, silk hose, and buckled shoes. (I can change the colors of the clothing, if you like.) If you can find a better picture of Al Hamilton's grave marker, I'd be happy to try using it, but this seems like the best I can find. ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngFri, Oct 28 '11 17:22 (UTC)

I doubt it would get featured, because 1) Christmas is nigh! 2) It's an in-joke parody. Maybe try next year. I wouldn't care if Auld Lang Syne was featured on Christmas Day, because, franky, watching it sit there after it skyrockets ahead of the other other articles in votes is torture.

Kippers[edit]

I just updated the UnNews audio thing now that we have flash. I notice that on the main UnNews page there are loads of links that don't go to anything interesting, or that seem out of date. I would suggest deleting all of those in bold -

Newsroom • Audio • Random Story • Foolitzer Prize • Goldstein Award
The TeamAsk HAL 9000 • Archives • IndexesChatCall Us

So that would leave Audio, Random Story, Foolitzer and Archives (the link needs to be sorted out for this last one)

Are you with me? I think less links, more likely people are to see them and click them.

And, any chance we could change 'Current Events' on the side by to simply UnNews? I still confuse Current Events with Recent Changes...

Leverage (talk) 19:56, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

I believe labeling it "Current events" is meant to model directly after Wikipedia. I would personally be in favor of changing it to UnNews, but you might want to consult Hotadmin4u69, since he seems to be a stickler about these things. More so because he actually has the power to change it.
I've taken the liberty to alter the links. I kept Newsroom, because that still has potential use if we grow the news community, and frankly we should be having this discussion there. I also kept the link to the chatroom for the noobs and to look enough like Wikinews. It kills me that I had to remove Ask Hal9000. I love that movie! -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 05:46, Jan. 30, 2013

Weird topic, because I came here to ask you if you've watched the 10 episodes of Aaron Sorkin's "The Newsroom" (twilight zone music playing). It's my favorite show of all time now, the best I've seen, and have watched each episode at least three times. Aleister 1:12 1-3-'13

Drone me a river[edit]

Nice work on the drone article. I've been following the story, and read the manifesto where he names names and points fingers, and live or die this guy will become like a Robin Hood in some areas of the Hood. I can imagine his picture being hung on walls right next to Dr. King's and Rodney King's. I like the pic and caption. Good work. Aleister 10:09 11-2-'13

Yeah, I've been following the story and I've read the manifesto as well. This article was supposed to be a simply satire the government, but then I found out it was spy drones. Thus, I used my creative genius to save it by mocking MSN's sloppy journalism. Morissette's smile near the end is one of the best smiles in movies. Hey, I really like your idea to not accept the Foolitzer until you do seven quality unnews pages. Commendable and UnUncyclopedic and a good example for everyone. I updrifted a new UnNews about meteors (I've actually seen one fireball and the light from a second (the second one brilliantly silently exploded behind me as I was taking a piss), but that Russian one was the biggest to run into the atmosphere in over 100 years. User:Multiliteralist/SoS

So if you want to start with this, it's right there. Requires nothing but the will to embed your writings into larger wholesso that links are more interesting to the reader. RAHB is in and maybe some others like it too.

-- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 21:51, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure if I should take your bafflement seriously, but I do. Let me know if it was a joke. My idea is that as a writer, we/I/you would assume a nonsensical role of, for instance, attacking the record industry for helping Dylan kill off whales. The record industry would then react to that, assuming that the nonsensical angle is valid (because this is not the real world). It's not an altogether fresh take but here on Uncyc it is more or less new. In any case, join please! The more the mermaid. There are no limitations - it's more a case of making stuff more interesting to the reader by interconnecting it properly. Not to mention that it's far easier to construct text when you have an opponent.

-- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 12:09, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

At first it confused me, but after reading the Bob Dylan one, I saw where you were going with this. I think it's a fantastic idea, especially when UnNews is in a dry spell. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 12:36, Feb. 27, 2013
All righty. Just leave a note on SoS page if you want to pick any of the ideas there. Or if you come up with things you would like someone else to tackle - rather connected to something you do. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to grab some point in someone else's article and start having at it. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 19:07, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Eat him up[edit]

I have an idea for the footnotes there: use Paul McCartney without the Sir; use footnotes that get angrier every time; threatening you if you refuse to call him Sir McCartney: "What is the use of having knighthood at all if nobody remembers us?" "You liberals remember him only as a Beatle - but he is KNIGHT now you fuckers!" -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 11:47, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Sounds distracting. Maybe if it were a different, more high brow article about Sir Paul McCartney. This one is just going to be silly. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 11:52, Mar. 1, 2013
Oh it's a newspiece - that's different. I wouldn't use the footnote joke in a newspiece. It works ebtter in an article that can have been written by several writers. Also...

Shouldn't we rewrite the "From the chief"-bit?[edit]

It could be far funnier, which is no miracle. If you want some real aspects in there let me know what they are - I can basically write it if you have no time. It reflects things we want from the news... it could be more life-like and/or more surreal. Now it really does read like it was written by Jimmy Olsen. Maybe it was? -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 19:45, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

I checked out the history and it probably was written by Jimmy: " ...darned fine editorials". Oh fuck me with a fucker. I would limit advice to this: If you're not certain your newsstory is suitable as it is, please run it by Kip (and whichever others we can name as volunteer readers of what might be crap.) OK this is what you maybe missed when dropped out:[edit]

 • (About the editorial needing a larger logo) It has been written by the implied chief editor after all
 • planning a joke on how it used to be but also it should be funny without the knowledge
 • User:Multiliteralist/Editorial01
 • tell me if it is
 • also about that editorial: if you know of newspieces that you would like to see linked there, just change them. I went almost at random to get it over with.

I'm planning of dropping in news about the purge of Uncyclopedia every now and then to give the impression there's a right-thinking sect in here. Should be funny, what with all the frothing, prejudice and patronizing attitude I plan to insert in them.

-- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 14:16, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

When you say Editorial, do you mean the template? I was never really found of that anyway.
No, that article I linked above. But the template should be, first, on top of page. And somewhat more intrusive. Same goes for the column template because it quickly separates them from news. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 14:26, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Also, concerning the editorial template: I would make the image for it but I don't have the tools any longer since my shit has been fucked for some months. I could draw something to start with but someone else should work it from that point on. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 14:31, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
You should probably get some of our potatochoppers on that image. Bizzeebeever is the first one to come to mind. As for the article, it works. It reads as a real stressed chief editor pulling his hair out.
I think this an amusing running joke, although it's a little bit too meta for my tastes. Still, I'm guessing the handful of readers we have will enjoy it. It gives us the *POP* we need to distinguish ourselves and get our brand out there. "Hey, Uncyclopedia/UnNews is a thing!" -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 14:42, Mar. 8, 2013
Yeah I admit it's meta but what the hell... besides, what's not meta on Uncyc? I take the whole site as a piece of literature now that I've recovered from the seriousness attack I had when I had to fight against those jerks we lost to Wikia. All that aside - the main thing is you feel the readers will like it of course. Encouraging. I'll ask BB to deal with the templates for the editorials and columns. What say we publish an editorial once every month or so? Different kinds, of course. It would give a sense of continuity to the whole UnNews. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 17:53, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
I have a running joke of my own with a fictional ex-journalist named Glenn Fitzgerald. You can see his narrative unfold with each of his columns so far:
However, I use him sparingly, usually for when I think, "This would be funny coming out of his mouth." Since he was originally a parody of conservative columnists, I was thinking of creating an academic left-wing douchebag parallel at some point. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 19:03, Mar. 8, 2013
I'll probably come up with a fresh one for each column I write. How about a column and editorial depository somewheres out of sight? We could then write them beforehand and publish at the rate that seems suitable. Some of them will be tied to something recent, so that will be the cue. But others - mine will probably be more or less nonsensical or general enough to publish at any time. Also, I think the Jimbo Wales bit has the best Fitzgerald introduction. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 19:21, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
I would think your own userspace would be the editorial depository. For example: I'm writing obituaries for old celebrities and waiting for the "cue". Although that's a bit of a dark example. I think I have a few UnNews articles in the chamber that don't involve death or holidays. (Or both, if you take into account Halloween.) This, for example, is waiting for Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal to announce his candidacy for president in 2015 (hopefully), since he resembles Kenneth from 30 Rock in his mannerisms, speech accent, and maybe even looks, if you look at it from an ironic perspective. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 19:31, Mar. 8, 2013
Speaking of Glenn Fitzgerald and edit conflicting someone, I was also wondering if I could pull off making UnBooks out of the throwaway jokes in his introductions. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 19:33, Mar. 8, 2013

Header; templates and shit[edit]

I thought a Column template with an easily replaceable image and text would be pretty good for quick editing. The Editorial template can be all fixed since it represents the implied Chief Editor of UnNews.

About the userspace/depository: of course, but whoever takes care of the publishing bit should have a clear list of columns or at least editorials waiting for publication. This just so that we wouldn't need to ask; would be quicker on the whole. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 19:34, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

How hard is it to just let it sit in your own userspace? Why would we need a separate space for these to sit until trigger time? -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 19:39, Mar. 8, 2013
No problem at all. I just thought that since there will be at least two people writing editorials, it's easiest if one person handles the publishing to avoid wasting them. With columns it's all the same since they'll not conflict in any way, having different authors and all. Of course it can also be funny if two or more totally conflicting editorials appear right next to each other. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 19:44, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
I suppose you could put them in User:Kip the Dip/E&C, since I'm technically in charge of these things. Alternatively, User:Multiliteralist/E&C, since you're on top of the editorials and columns, and my userspace is currently being studied by astrophysicists for its high level of entropy. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 19:49, Mar. 8, 2013

Regarding stuff we probably don't want to talk about any more[edit]

Just so you know: either all of it is important to me to the extent that it is, or none of it is. Listen to One track mind by Motorhead!! to get a clear picture of my mental processes. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 08:49, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Original template, other stuff[edit]

 • Let me know if you start the Fitzgerald UnBook - I might be able to contribute
 • the Original t. really is unnecessary, you're right. I'll try to keep in mind not to use it

-- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 18:14, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

That template is no big deal. I just find it an eyesore. Unless you have a lengthy UnNews, it seems to get in the way more often than not. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 18:20, Mar. 9, 2013
It is in the way - and now unnecessary. It seems to have appeared when our friend SPIKE needed something to separate his high-class comedic news reporting from our obviously low-brow crap (since he couldn't use the word shit to save his life). -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 19:35, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Done added subpage on Poep[edit]

I added that. Came up with UnNews on how the next Poep might retort to that asteroid-attracting plan. If you want me to branch off your planned popesies, leave links there when you start them. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 07:31, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

So here I use that schism special template. Not sure how it will work with the UnNews template yet - I hope they won't fuck each other. Up, I mean. It only took me half a week to make such a simple thing, too! I really am a genius! That aside, I thought it would be good to use the template whenever we have some controversy about anything any Pope does. Seems appropriate to me. Should it be a bit bigger? -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 18:25, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
No it shouldn't, it's stylish now - and works with a couple of additional linebreaks. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 18:25, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Very nice, but I think it would work best in the upper right corner of the page. Observe: Mike Tyson and Conan O'Brien featured in A BUTT POOP Christmas!!!!:

[[File:Conan's Christmas card.png|60px|Everybody smile!]]

Since u Tzar...[edit]

I thought I'd ask you about dis idea here. I know it works better than without, so how about I just spit out a template for it to be used in UnNews? Then I can move new articles written in a certain way to UnNews:Open Letters (does it need a category?) and there will be plenty of sweet young twat for everyone. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 18:38, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

UnNews template thing[edit]

Wikinews has a little box in its stories now which gives links to relevant stories See here for example. I just pasted a few of the basic templates over and have made a primitive version for Venezuela but this is basically a pretty box with the stories pasted in after looking up the category. Any ideas about how to create a dynamic page list? I kept the coding from wikipedia in the edit box under thing should you wish to peruse it. Leverage (talk) 19:55, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

I can't see that more than causing more trouble than convenience. Of course, Hotadmin4u69 will insist that we copy Wikinews down to the last iota. He's already suggested we removed the opening location tradition:
Perhaps a radical retooling of the news article format should be proposed in the newsroom or the Village Dump? -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 20:11, Mar. 12, 2013
OK! I had noticed the template had changed a little. Pictures now on the left too... I will write to mr hot to see what he says. Leverage (talk) 21:00, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Two popes and a nun chuck[edit]

You have a Pope news coming up? There's that column waiting, and also the Sun a splode bit. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 19:51, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

I currently waiting for someone, presumably Bizzeebeever, to create a photoshop of ex-Pope Benedict's head on the body of an aged hippy nudist. Other than that, your articles are lookin' good. -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 01:40, Mar. 16, 2013
OK; I'll wait for yours with the one still in reserve. Then I think I'll need to wait for the next rush of ignorance to create the next one. Meanwhile, I took out the obvious conclusion of the middle chapter, the one you had added. Sorry for that but I think a small puzzle like that is funnier than spitting it out straight. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 18:09, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
Also but not as well, too - the schizo news I just wrote a couple of days ago. Any ideas to carry it a bit further somehow? I left it open for more reporting on purpose. Would look best if it didn't jump to silly things other than the premise: that schizophrenic and DT ramblings and rages are scientific fact. I think it has potential for more. Also, I've always liked the idea of reporting something idiotic (that really could happen) as news. It's so close to what the sensationalist asswipe papers do. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 18:15, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
If you want to link it to the Naked Pope saga for instance. An UnNews about how the schizo in question saw the N. P. the next time? -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 18:39, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
Pick one and I'll delete the other. ~ BB ~ (T) Icons-flag-us.pngSun, Mar 17 '13 22:36 (UTC)

Bobe[edit]

 • How about an interview-news about this: the new Pope proclaiming he's the poor people's pope is clear proof that he is space aliens' puppet. This could be just the final proving factor of a few in the interview. We would thereby link the other Pope news to ours. I'm out of details for this one. Gimme some and I'll write it. Or leave link on SoS pages if you start it yourself. Drop the ideas there too. Someone might be interested but slow to join - let's keep it going just in case. It's a clear way of keeping track.
 • I'll wait with the Sun a splode thing a couple of days more now that Al published that last one about poor people demanding ketchup. If you come up with a way of linking ketchup to the sun a splode bit, tell me. A previously undiscovered Dylan song with the line: "We will have you ground into fertilizer and make ketchup of whales"?
 • The image where Pope blesses Dylan has to be remembered as discriminating evidence of Dylan's part in whatever some of the Popes is planning.
 • I'll start a fresh subpage with the schizo news. Not certain more will come but who knows.

Next?[edit]

Oh now I rember . You cringe at dyslexia jokes. In any case, any loose ideas for the next step? I'm fresh out so gimme a little push on the SoS/Popesies page please. Or let me know what you think of those ^^^ up there. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 10:56, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

What's with this "One of the new Popes"? Shouldn't it "New Pope...". Did we establish that there's more than one new Pope? -- Thankful Kippy Cornucopia clipart.png Share blessings Cornucopia clipart.png Bountiful harvest Cornucopia clipart.png 11:24, Mar. 20, 2013
There can be differing opinions, I suppose... it seemed funny at the time. Al has one Pope who is maybe a bit closer to something real, someone suggested Pope Leroy on IRC, and we still have the Naked Pope running loose. He's in no way new though. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 12:13, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Link your best testicle molester and naked pope thingies in that one, I mention both in it. Saving it for a couple of days again. Going to connect Bob later. -- Style Oranssiviiva.jpg Guide 12:20, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
