Seriously good contact for you in So Cal

Dude! You must have heard of International Music Magazine UT or Ugly Things Magazine, which is the most influential bi-annual publication on 60s Psychedelic music, specially British artists, like Kieth Moon, Cream, The Misunderstood, The Move, The Creation, THEM, The Who, etc., with special awe to the real fathers of psych rock the Jeff Beck Era Yardbirds. Mike is the World's leading authority on The Pretty Things (after which the mag is pun-named). Anyway, it's published out of San Diego. Please contact the Editor, Mike Stax, and tell him that Rick Brown heard and suggests he review your stuff. Write him at uglythingsmag@hotmail.com His web site is http://www.ugly-things.com/ - Mike is in a position to help you. He even has his own already successful label UT Records with global distribution, same as his 20 years old magazine, which has risen to the top of the heap.

Tell him what I said about it sounding "under". Ha! I was thinking, maybe if someone did get tripped out on DMT or even less heavy, like shrooms, then your music might sound normal. Haa!! - He'll see it's far from that! Contact him, really! Ugly Things Magazine is also on Wikipedia. This might be the best contact you'll ever need.--Funnybony 22:16, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
After thought, I think your sound would benefit with your vocals in distant Tomorrow Never Knows drone voice, and put meaningful lyrics. The Misunderstood were about Mind Expansion and Anti war. So you can be what ever you like to say. For example, the UK Band MUSE, I checked on MySpace and they have 65 MILLION SONG PLAYS. And everyone of their songs is about Illuminati, anti-NWO, anti-loss of freedom to fear, anti US of Earth. They tell it like it is, they're on about secret politics behind the NWO - which they oppose with a passion! And 65 million Song Plays?? Someone is listening to them. Do it Dude!--Funnybony 22:49, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
This is all well and good Rich, but it's getting kind of tiring coming to my talk page every day and finding an essay's worth of comments about psychedelic music, and suggestions of how to alter my own sound. Particularly, it's getting annoying that all of these quotes about the past are all over my page. I'd listen to nostalgia radio if I wanted those. Music is great, but this talk page is more for the purposes of this wiki, and so I'd like to keep it readable enough for me to answer any administrative questions and the like. -RAHB 00:57, October 28, 2009 (UTC)

Phil Ochs

Hi. I've continued playing with the Phil Ochs article which you suggested be expanded. Please have a look now, and I'll continue to work on it (Movies would be the next starting point). Do you know Ochs' work? Long time fan, first time caller. Aleister in Chains 14:32, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

Not familiar with him myself. It seems long enough now, although it could use some pictures. Maybe a couple more links for good measure. But the terms of the expand tag are satisfied, so good on ya, I'll be removing the tag now. -- Also, penis. 14:35, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm not proficient as yet with pictures, but will work on the links. Ochs was, indeed, considered by many the main singing voice of his generation, most of whom have little hearing ability left. The reason he didn't get airplay was that he attended as many protests, movement activities, and wrote about the issues of his day, and was more-or-less blacklisted (more rather than less). Those who know him will catch the references on the page, and hopefully will add to them. Thanks again. Not to be too serious here, goats. Aleister in Chains 15:34, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
Word, sounds like someone I could get behind. Think I'll check him out. Good luck on your article! -- Also, penis. 16:31, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

Words!

It's just words man. He is awesome and recently discovered by myself. I guess you saw that video years ago... MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 02:58, Oct 31

It IS just words! You only recently discovered Zappa? Well that explains everything then. The reason I didn't particularly want that video on is that, yeah, it's a fucking great interview, but when you start watching all of the many many interviews Zappa did over the years, they just get better and better. His philosophy extended over such a broad range of topics, and was so fucking insightful, that it's impossible to sum him up in simply that crossfire interview. So I choose not to.
If you will it, you're in for the ride of your life getting into Zappa. I must warn you however, that you will also become quite insane. But it's a delightful insanity. I don't even notice the poltergeists anymore. -- Also, penis. 03:01, October 31, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I already have a poltergeists. It opens and closes locked windows... I have watched probably 15 or so interviews and such with Zappa in the last few days. Apparently he also played some music, so I probably should look into that also. ;) MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 03:07, Oct 31
Hahah, yes, I hear he did something along those lines. A paltry 70 or so records. -- Also, penis. 03:08, October 31, 2009 (UTC)
I hope you don't mind me butting in here, but I just read something that I didn't know about Frank Zappa (I'm assuming you mean Frank). This is from our imitator Wikipedia: 'Zappa had proposed to replace "phonographic record merchandising" of music by "direct digital-to-digital transfer" through phone or cable TV (with royalty payments and consumer billing automatically built into the accompanying software). In 1989, Zappa considered his idea a "miserable flop."' The idea might have been a flop then, but a few years later, with the Internet.... King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  03:12, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Exactly! Just one of many many factors that added to Frank's genius. Are you a fan? -- Also, penis. 03:17, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I didn't get to know much about him until after his death. I had thought of him mostly as a guy who sang about yellow snow and valley girls--the stuff I heard listening to Doctor Demento. Now, I'm fascinated with him. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  03:34, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, that's how it tends to go. I didn't find out about him until long after his death, and was lucky enough to get right into the meat of his discography without being distracted too much by his "hits". Don't necessarily mind Apostrophe and the like, but beyond what's most well known of his stuff there's some of the most fascinating music and musical-related ideas in modern history. Hence why I preach of his works extensively in all situations, appropriate or otherwise, much to the chagrin of those around me. -- Also, penis. 03:38, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Is there a Zappa religion? Something like Zappanity, or The Flying Frank Zappa, or the Sons and Daughters of Invention? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  03:44, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
Wow, Sons and Daughters of Invention would probably be it if there was. My idea of the Frank Zappa religion is not having a religion. And dressing up like a poodle on December 4th. That's more of a ritual though, I suppose. -- Also, penis. 03:49, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

Can I sell you my Topaz?

Congratulations on the featured, nice work and a nice article. A question, why or who or what should I ask about a keyed-in article that needs a major change? It's locked up, stored away like amber, and yet not up-to-date. Thanks. By the way, where can I hunt topaz, and what weapons should I bring along to hunt it? Aleister in Chains 16:46, October 31, 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying you have a finished article, but you want someone to make a pass and clean it up? If that's the case, I could probably help you out. Alternately there's The Thinker, pending he's in mood to check his talk page. There's also the proofreading service, and you can also get constructive feedback at the Pee Review. Also also, you can ask around for someone to help you in the IRC channel. If that's not what you were talking about, then please disregard this entire message. Except for the statement that to hunt topaz, you need only your hands...and 15 years of intensive martial arts training. -- Also, penis. 03:52, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
Hi. Specifically, I've edited the article, and will fine tune in, United States Emperors to select a new Emperor (Sinead O'Connor, weird, but it fits the logic of the page), and this update will affect the Ron Paul page, which is locked. So, how can it be unlocked in order to make the needed changes? Thanks. Oh, and thank your for putting an under construction template on my new article The Babe Over There On The Right, which could also be fun. Aleister in Chains 15:15, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
Ah yes, I see what you mean now. Well, three things about that then. Firstly, I could generally unlock the article, allow you to make your edit, and then relock it. Secondly, continuity between articles isn't actually something very much upheld, so if the edit is needed just for that purpose, it doesn't necessarily need to be made. Alternatively though, if you think it will make the page funnier, then absolutely make the edit. Most importantly of all is this. There are two types of protection, a regular user protection, and a sysop protection. Sysop protection means only sysops can edit a page. Regular protection means that anyone except IPs can edit a page. The Ron Paul article is regular protection, but brand new users (I believe the number is four days old or less) can't edit those. So if your edit can wait for another day or so (although looking at your contribs I think you've passed the requirement by now), then you'll be able to edit the article without anything having to be changed. As will be with any other regular-protected articles now that you've been around for a few days. Merely a precautionary measure. -- Also, penis. 15:30, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I didn't know about the four day rule. It worked out fine. The Ron Paul and the United State Emperor pages seemed to go hand in glove, as much of the Paul article centered on the other while other "Emperor"s only mention it in passing. And having Richard Nixon as Emperor over and over again (supposedly his soul inhabited Ron Paul and that's why he was Emperor, I had Melinda Gordon send his soul into the light while abdicating to O'Connor, who will lead all into an era of peace. Thanks again. I may try one of the news articles tomorrow and learn how those work, but the Paul thing seemed to remedy itself. Aleister in Chains 00:58, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
Right. That thing you just said. -- Also, penis. 07:12, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

Huffing Ted Stevens

Apparently Ted Stevens was huffed because I was the only one who wrote about him.

Maybe that would be different if the article was left up more than a day. Ketchikanadian 18:21, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

The "only contributor" thing is less of the reason than the fact that there was nearly nothing whatsoever on the page. Unfortunately, you can't simply start a one sentence page and then just expect everybody else to start throwing in a bunch of comedy gold. Generally, if you're going to start an article, you should finish it, or at least develop it a significant amount before getting outside help, and asking for that help instead of just leaving the article there, hoping someone might come along and give it their pity. Putting the template {{construction}} on a page is also helpful for keeping an article safe from deletion while it is in development. -- Also, penis. 18:24, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
Ok thanks. I'll try again when I have more. Ketchikanadian 06:49, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

I usually don't work on other people's articles unless I started out a collaboration with them. And I know absolutely nothing about the subject matter and something tells me that reading the article isn't going to give me the same frame of reference that being Dutch does. I also generally don't do articles about people. Because I suck at that. I'm sure someone else around here might help you though. By the way, I did not know much about Pier Gerlofs "Grutte Pier" Donia either until some time ago. I read he had "superhuman strength" and then I began to read a book about him. Pretty interesting stuff... a gigantic warrior chopping of heads with a gigantic sword who possesses superhuman strength - how cool is that? I would say, almost as cool as ninja's and pirates. :D Seven&ThreeMidgets 21:18, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

Aren't you going to have "the talk" with me?

I'm just curious why User:Tomisbetterthanu was blocked indefinitely when the user hadn't yet posted here. Perhaps it's some Super Secret Admin Thingy I'm not allowed to know about about. Or maybe it's an IP problem. Those rather concern me, as I once got blocked indefinitely from a wiki because some troublemaker used the same IP I did (IPs change over time, some services such as AOL have shared IPs, some services switch IP numbers around frequently, some security services give a shared IP, some users do edits on shared library and school computers, etc.) Also PuppyOnTheRadio‎'s home IP was blocked indefinitely, but fortunately Puppy knows enough computer code to get it fixed. If not, we might have lost him. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  17:12, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Actually he has posted, but those posts don't show up on his contribs list because they were all deleted. He created a vanity page to the tune of Sandy Hubers, which he kept recreating. And so I got rid of him. He a friend of yours? If there's something I should know, I'd gladly re-evaluate the ban. -- Also, penis. 17:42, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
Also, do you mean that Puppy's IP was banned when I blocked that guy? Or were you referring to an altogether different occurrence? -- Also, penis. 17:43, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
I don't know Tom at all; I just found him when I was looking for noobs who hadn't been welcomed yet. And the Puppy ban was a separate thing that probably happened a couple months ago. I don't even know the details, but saw Puppy mention it somewhere. Happy editing! King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  17:58, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Pat Benetar (redirect) (delete)

Sorry for not checking Wikipedia before nominating this for QVFD. Still, I think the redirect is pointless since its target is Heart, and I see no reason that Pat Benetar will ever be mentioned in the Heart article. (Is there some other place the redirect could point?) --Pentium5dot1 (semi-retired) t~^_^~c 22:46, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Well I think the reasoning is supposed to be that Pat Benatar is often mis-attributed as being a member of Heart, the band. Or something. And that her last name is often misspelled as Benetar when it's really Benatar. That or somebody made both of those mistakes and made an idiotic redirect. As is it seems like a funny bit of reference though. -- Also, penis. 00:08, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

Unwelcomed

I was going through, welcoming new users, when I noticed that User:Mullerisgay was welcomed, banned for two weeks, and the welcome message was huffed by yourself. I imagine you have a reason for this, but it seems the thing we would definitely want a problem user to see is the welcome message for those helpful links. I tried doing a welcome with a message about being productive, and got "This page has been locked to prevent editing. This title has been protected from creation by RAHB. The reason given is That's enough." Was this user only banned for two weeks, or did I read that wrong? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  05:02, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

I just ran into another one with a huffed talk page, User:Daniel simpson. Is there some way something could be left on their talk pages so it's not a red link on the User creation log? I welcome a whole bunch of people at once, and when I see a red talk page I go to put a welcome message on. Yes, I know I could check each page and each user individually, but last month I welcomed 177 people because it hadn't been done. If I checked each one individually, I might have burned out after a couple dozen. I'd rather welcome 177 and end up welcoming 20 banned users, than welcome 24 and miss a single potentially productive user. Thanks for your consideration, and happy editing! King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  05:42, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Eh, we have this policy about welcoming vandals or something. I protected the one page because the link was put on QVFD and kept getting recreated. Makes me long for the old days, when we didn't have a user creation log. People had to really contribute first and then we'd know whether to welcome them or get rid of them. Anyways, that was then, and this is potato salad. So...eh, exercise your best judgment or something I guess. I'll unprotect that other page before the ban ends. -- Also, penis. 18:07, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Likewise, users should be welcomed when they did something worthy of a welcome rather than just appeared on the welcome log, as we do have an unwritten policy of "don't welcome the vandals". ~Jewriken.GIF 18:35, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
I remembers them days whem ZB used to ban em for welcoming vandals... Huff the user creation I say. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 18:49, Nov 7
I certainly understand that. But personally I think it's good if people get links to how to write for Uncyclopedia before they've written a lot for Uncyclopedia. I saw a user a while back who got insulted (I think it was a threat of being blocked, but I don't remember) who was apparently trying to do good edits (adding Chuck Norris references/Oscar Wilde quotes stuff that's all over the site). The user had never been welcomed so had nothing to go by other than what's all over the site. When I first looked around here before I joined, I thought an Oscar Wilde quote was expected. A welcomed user may or may not look at the links, but at least they've been given a chance. Also my welcome message currently says "Thank you for your current and future contributions, assuming, of course, you aren't a vandal or some such." I got advice that thanking vandals even in a generic template wasn't a great idea, so I reworded it that way to cover productive users, users who hadn't posted yet, and vandals. The Welcome backlog was horrible--as I said above, I welcomed 177 people last month and ChiefjusticeDS welcomed a whole bunch too. We (and others) were working to catch up on the backlog for welcomes and Pee Reviews, and I believe we succeeded. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  19:01, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Ya, but... The thing is we want people checking contributions, not people holding down the Ctrl key and clicking 10 links on a page to send their welcome message. If that was all we wanted then it could be automated such that all new users automatically get sent the message, but then that would just be another link which popped up which they ignore along with all the others. If the welcome message is sent in response to a good/bad contribution then... Well that's your first actual interaction with the wiki for a new user. A real communication. You are saying "Hi! I actually read something you did, and it did not suck". We have so many other places where we do provide help and guidance. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 19:14, Nov 7
(Well MrN, I didn't read a word you said because you edit conflicted me, so on with my message as it was) The number 177 is irrelevant here. I think it's just fantastic that you were able to paste a template on 177 pages that were listed in a log, but that's neither here nor there. Generally I really don't care what people do when it comes to welcoming users. You can welcome whoever you want. Except you can't welcome IPs. But this whole thing started because someone posted a link on the QVFD, and when I see those I usually act upon them, since it is a policy here. And if you can welcome 177, and don't get to put a template on a 178th page, I don't see where the glaring issue is. There are more important matters to get caught up on, and it doesn't seem that any of these situations came out a negative, since all of the non-welcomed in this discussion were vandals. As for the whole Chuck Norris whatsit and everything, the welcome templates don't do any more to enforce quality standards than do any article. Users simply have to learn by example. I don't recall ever banning someone for incessant Chuck Norrising, unless they were being obnoxious or were already warned, and I think that's how it generally goes. But every administrator also has their own individual way about things, and there are over fifty of us, somewhere near twenty active. There are different ways of dealing with things, and as I said, it's generally good to simply exercise your best judgment in close calls. -- Also, penis. 19:16, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
And now, after I've cooled off from MrN's glaring edit conflict, I've bothered to read it, and I agree whole-heartedly with what he said as well. -- Also, penis. 19:17, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Understood, and now that the backlog's caught up, I am checking contributions of those who've contributed. But I'm still welcoming those who haven't contributed yet so they have an idea where to start. As I said in an earlier post, there's no way I would have welcomed that many people if I had to check everything first. There were well over 200 unwelcomed people because it wasn't being done and I saw that as a problem to be solved. I'm one of those people who's fixed computers with tape and toilets with paper clips. It's a lousy fix, but at least it's better than nothing. (And personally, I'd prefer an automatic welcome anyway as it would give people an idea where to start before they begin. Even if you do a welcome personally, it still looks generic because it's a generic template. Until I actually talked to a user, I had no way of knowing if it was a person who welcomed me or that person's bot.) King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  19:31, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
That's the thing though. You seem to be putting more stock into how big a number you can tally than whether it's going to do any good. As I said, you can welcome whoever you want, it really doesn't bother me. What would bother me would be if people are going around trying to make some sort of contest of how many people they can welcome, without taking consideration of what kind of effect they're having. And personally, I've fixed everything with duct tape and paper clips, but it doesn't really make me want to paste a template on a bunch of pages. That's just me. I'm not saying the things you're doing aren't good, but what I am saying is don't expect a tremendous amount of praise for solving some sort of perceived "problem" that Uncyclopedia has. Because it really doesn't seem to be one. Also, people who don't have welcome messages on their pages, and aren't brain dead, can find out all of the information on the template the same way I and may others did: by clicking the majority of the links covering the mainpage and the toolbar which is on every page of the wiki. Also by observation. The welcome template is more a formality, as well as simply an attempt at making users feel welcome, than it is implemented for any actual practicality. As MrN said, it would be very very easy to do as the rest of wikia and simply put a welcome template on every new user's page by default. We simply don't want to do that though. -- Also, penis. 19:39, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

Barack Obama's birth

This article was removed from the main article pursuant to Barack Obama#A separate page?. It summarizes the way that both sides made fools of themselves over the issue, but two of the Colonizers had said on the talk page that it detracted from the original theme of the main article. Why did you delete it? Spıke ¬  23:46 7-Nov-09

Well, I deleted it because it was short, and it looked to me just like somebody who fancied themselves a political commentator felt like spewing such commentary on a page. If it was the makings of a larger article, then I'll restore it and put a construction tag on it for you. It needs to be expanded and it needs to have jokes in it. Or an overall satirical or comedic purpose. -- Also, penis. 23:49, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for restoring it. I do fancy myself a commentator at times, but this one has a comedic purpose (and in fact, has a couple jokes in it). It was not the makings of a larger article, it was a piece of Barack Obama that a couple of people told me would be better stand-alone. (Who knows, maybe they meant, "In the huff log"?) I have no imminent expansions of it in mind. I think it encapsulates an absurdity, and "Simsilikesims" seemed to endorse it on the talk page, though perhaps not its presence in the main article. I think it's funny. Spıke ¬  01:05 8-Nov-09
It looks alright as a section of something larger to me, but it's going to need more meat if it's going to survive as its own article. Do as you so choose, but after a week it'll be gotten rid of or moved to your userspace. You could easily start by adding a picture. It could also use a different title perhaps. But those are all up to you. Well, the picture part only sort of is. I mean, it only makes sense. -- Also, penis. 01:09, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
If I might butt in RAHB, the way it currently stands it does not constitute as an article by itself and to be honest I don't see the great value of removing that single paragraph from the main article. Also, I didn't see a lot of discussion going on that page. Pelargonium is a new user with not relation to IC. And Mickey was not entirely for the whole issue. So all in all, I don't see a lot of added value in this sub article. ~Jewriken.GIF 14:30, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

I think my little article violates the Uncyclopedia norm for articles less severely than some of those that have come through VFD recently, including one that I termed "not writing but performace art." I have a copy of the article in my space, though I have no grand plans for it at present; but it ought to go through VFD rather than have someone conclude that it simply can't be an article. Spıke ¬  02:43 9-Nov-09
VFD is for articles that have been around for a long time that weren't initially spotted when they were created. There are a number of one-week policies that apply to new articles. Articles that are too short on content get construction or ICU templates applied to them, and have a week to stay, unless further edited, then they have a week since last edit. It's not personal or a special case, it's a policy that applies to all new articles. The other reason VFD is a bad option is that if every new article we got went through VFD, it would be impossible to keep track of it all, and the backlog would be overwhelming after the space of even a week or two. That's why we have the short term policies. -- Also, penis. 02:47, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

It's true. Like, that time Frank Zappa got in a fight with Trevor Howell, Trevor totally kicked his ass and then tossed his beaten body into an orchestra pit. That's when I realized that Zappa's skills in hand-to-hand combat had been vastly overstated. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 18:01, November 25, 2009 (UTC)
To clarify, the fight was with Trevor Howard the actor, not Trevor Howard the footballer. And the competition was an acting one to see who could do the most convincing performance of getting his apparently dead body tossed into the orchestra pit. And that's really quite amazing considering that, while Frank Zappa was of course still alive during the 1991 competition, Trevor Howard the actor was already dead. This is a question not a complaint

I noticed that The Pirate Bay and HowTo:Be Homeless in America each had the same number of votes for. HT:BHiA had been up longer, but TPB got its vote quicker. I'm just wondering how decisions are made on what to feature first in a case like that, because it seems like it's not always done the same. Thanks. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  19:04, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

There isn't an official policy on it, but administrators tend to vary their opinions on it. I personally think that if two articles have the same score, but one got it faster, the faster one is obviously more deserving of a quicker feature, and so I do it that way. Others believe that the older one deserves it for having stuck around as long as it did. And evidently Rcmurphy thinks the older ones should be featured because he's tired of looking at them on VFH. So that's how it goes, depending on who's featuring at the time. I suppose we should develop some standard for it, but I doubt a consensus vote or any sort would be easily attainable, since it's a pretty double-sided thing. We usually don't worry too much about it since two articles with the top score are probably going to both be featured anyway, it's just a matter of having to put them up on different days. -RAHB 03:50, December 1, 2009 (UTC)
All right thanks. I suppose it doesn't really matter, I was just curious if there was a policy. In this case, it means the articles are being featured in different months. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  05:40, December 1, 2009 (UTC)
Actually I believe most admins feature the ones with the higher health score (meaning - ones who got more votes quicker) as it means that more people wants to see those on the front page sooner. Technical violation

I just nommed SuperBario for NotM even though technically it's a day or two late. The noob wrote Star Trek: The Next Generation and got missed for nomination (by me) for last month. I had actually thought about nomming the user early on, but wanted to see more work--then like a fool I forgot to put the noob on my watchlist. Can we make a two-day exception? What would Zappa do? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  19:55, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

Depends. Is it two days later than the thirty days, or two days later than the already stretched out 3 day exception. If it's really five days away from 30 I would generally say no, because this is exactly the problem with loosening the NotM rules in the first place, and it's what I've been telling people ever since we did it way back when. First we added a one day exception, then it was two, then it was absolutely three, no one was going beyond that. Normally I would say nom him anyway and if the community doesn't oppose it, it's fine, but if you do so, don't make the slightest mention of the extra two days on the nom page. Otherwise we're going to have another whole official rules issue again. And as I've feared, if we keep tweaking the rules for that award every couple of months, the exception will just keep going higher until anybody can be nommed and the award becomes useless. So I guess to sum that all up....give it a shot, but don't make a big deal about it. And if somebody points out their ineligibility, concede to it and don't allow another rule fight to break out. Barring those things, I don't think anybody will be issuing punishments or anything. -RAHB 00:37, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Gee, I don't know how to take a compliment here without sarcasm included. Couldn't you say something like, "That's a pretty nice thing to do. Good on ya for that one, you filthy whoring scum who's just acting nice to impress the admins but you aren't fooling anybody, you smelly wiper of other people's bottoms?" User:Why do I need to provide this?/sig8 01:56, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Recently featured ???

Right now on the Main Page under Recently featured, it looks like the entries are listed backwards; i.e., most recent last. At least I think that's backwards from the way it used to be, and wonder if this means more recently featured articles will go off the list before articles featured before that get off. Or something. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  22:11, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Spang is the one to ask about that. The recently featured template is a foreign beast to most of us who don't have advanced wiki knowledge such as his. Go. Seek out the oracle in the lands of mystery. Inquire him as to the end of days, and offer unto him a sampling of your blood for his troubles. Only then, can the nation resume peace. -RAHB 22:22, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

Convenience store

You recently deleted an article called Convenience store that I was kinda working on. I know there wasn't much progress on the article, but could you restore it to my userspace or something? —Paizuri MUN (Talk Contribs Poll!)

Hey, dude, quick question for you.

I've been working on the Sir Hamsterlot article you tagged for the ICU. Could you take a quick look and tell me if you think it's good for the removal of the ICU tag? It's still not a huge article, but I think it's significantly better, and about 3 or 4 times as long (no Chuck Norris or that sort of thing, though there is more than it's share of MP&TQFTHG references and hamster-huffing references...).– Preceding unsigned comment added by Fantabulate (talk • contribs)

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Good job, tag removed, cheers! Oh, also, I generally like my talk page message to go at the bottom. And also, you can sign pages with the four tildes (~~~~). Anyways yes, good job. -RAHB 01:51, December 6, 2009 (UTC)
Awesome! Glad to get that out of there! Thanks for the tildes tip, dude. I'm kinda new here, so sorry about the messing up the chronological ordering of your talk page. I'll fix that momentairilly... that what you meant? Fantabulate 18:05, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

Voting against NotM

My understanding is that we don't vote against NotM (unless it's a joke as with Rcmurphy). But I may be wrong. What policy applies to this? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  23:40, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

As you asked about where I might have heard you don't vote against, there's another opinion (where I and another user get soundly chastised) here. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  05:10, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
Well, Mordillo does have a point, that if you have no vote-relevant reason to cast a vote, than it should probably be stricken. And that is a policy that extends to VFH and all other voting systems. However, my point stands that you can vote against on NotM. I don't know what the situation with Syndrome is, and I don't care to know about it since it looks as if it's already been taken care of, but I stand strong in stating that you can vote whatever you want on anything. Others may not agree with me on that, and if that's the case, there's obviously some things to be discussed, and truthfully voting against on NotM really is a useless endeavor, but not having the ability to cast a negatory vote if it is truly believe the vote is warranted, is not something I condone and would hope the rest of the site doesn't. Most of the things that happen on this site are of a democratic nature, it's why we have votes in the first place. And those votes can go both ways. Or should be able to, at any rate. -RAHB 05:59, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
I don't know what the situation with me is either. I think moar dildos just told me to remove my vote because it was beginning to be a source of drama. I realize how fundamentally wrong it is for a 'crat to tell me how to vote to change my vote because a 'crat told me to, and had I meant my vote to be serious and permanent, there's no way I would have changed it. But if there's one thing we should learn from this, it's UN:N. This is a free wiki and people can do what they want. Just because Mordillo had an issue with one particular against vote does not mean that there's a blanket condemnation against against votes in general. (And Why, why do you keep referring to me as "another user"? It's not like I'm Candlejack or somethi --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 06:06, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
It's a courtesy; I learned to do that after I got chastised for posting the names of people involved in a conflict on another user's page, even though that user was involved in the conflict and I was trying to help solve it. My intent here is to try to figure out what's Uncyclopedia policy, and what's a matter of opinion. To learn that, I don't think it matters who was involved. Since I've been here, I've gotten very different views from admins on fundamental issues, which can make it confusing--one admin says "sure, do it all you want" and another admin says "because of what you did, you're in trouble." Frankly, I'm beginning to suspect that decisions are made based on which admin you ask first. And Syndrome, if you think this is a free wiki and you can do whatever you want, you probably haven't been blocked yet. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? Are you kidding me? Some dashing stallion of a man just infinibanned me. --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 06:26, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
You forgot to call me a penis, but yeah. That happened. Anyways, Why, you're mostly right. There are a lot of issues that simply can't be decided as a consensus because they're so subjective. And personally, NotM is such a minuscule thing on the site. The site is here for writing comedy and making the comedy heard. All this other bureaucratic shit is just that, it doesn't accomplish anything. Who cares whether you voted against on NotM or not? Is it affecting the site on a large scale as a whole? Is it causing a serious disturbance? I mean, it's just one of those things I like to put on the backburner, because, honestly, in comparison to the overall purpose here, it's just not important. -RAHB 06:31, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
Dead right. FreddAin't Dedd 22px-Flag_of_Egypt.png 18px-Foxicon.png 06:36, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but don't tell anybody. The consequences could be DIRE!!!......../me hits the bong.... -RAHB 06:41, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
For the record - I think it's perfectly fine to vote against, I have voiced that opinion several times in the past. However, when someone votes against a NOTM for no apparent reason other than "gay", that would surely cause drama, havoc, and feces flying all over the place something that the admins, me amongst them, will have to clean up later. And to be honest Syndrome - I had my fair share of drama lately. If you have a valid reason to vote against him, as I did say already, post it! Explain it, let him understand why you voted against - because even if this is a humor wiki we know people get offended by these votes. If you're doing that just to piss off someone or to make a vague point that no one understands other than you than,no, I don't have the patience to clean up after that, I have enough cleaning up after IPs and other clowns as it is. Why, you being chastised, as you said, had nothing to do with the actual vote. It was to do with the various liberties you take with reverting other users. Never remove a vote. Never. Even if you believe you're in the right. You have admins to do that, and you seem to be very able to find them when you need them. ~Jewriken.GIF 06:42, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
On a serious note, NotM may not be important to you, but it is to some people. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  06:43, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
Make it less important. It's just an award we give to award people who we think are doing a good job. But you should care more about your own perception of your abilities and accomplishments and not put so much stock in what awards other people are giving out. Do you think Frank Zappa was upset that he never won a Grammy award until the SINGLE one that he got in 1986? Dude, Frank didn't give a SHIT about the Grammys. Because he knew there was more important stuff out there to care about. Follow in his footsteps man, awards are nice, but they're no substitute for personal satisfaction. -RAHB 06:49, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
Mordillo, I understand your point about what I did. The first time I did it was in ignorance of the policy here (I've edited at other wikis where that was accepted); the second time I admit I wasn't even thinking about how it related to what I'd done before. As I told Syndrome when I apologized, I've been dealing with some personal tragedy lately and was dealing with a great deal of pain, and it warped my thinking. I'm not making an excuse--I know that if you aren't in the right mood, you shouldn't be editing--but that's what happened. I am assuming, however, that vote reverts and strikeouts and the like don't apply to joke votes such as UGotM. There, that sort of thing seems to be part of the fun. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  06:51, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
Mordillo, I understand your point about what I did. Yes, my vote was foolish, and I'm absolutely not trying to cause drama, but it's not like my vote came out of the blue, or that it's something that Hey people! isn't used to. (Note: Hyperbole made that vote before Hey people! was registered, so please, for the love of God, no one drag him in to this.) --Pleb SYNDROME CUN medicate (butt poop!!!!) 06:56, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
RAHB, the irony is I became active here because I was nommed (by Syndrome) for NotM. I had just thought to make an edit here and there, but once I got nommed and felt I didn't qualify, I thought, "I'll get some sort of article on here fast!" Then I found I had a lot of fun doing it, and have continued. I might whore myself for a Grammy (get one of those, and you can make more money), but not for some website's newby award. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  06:59, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
Good. That's all I'm saying, man. I think. Can someone remind me what I'm saying? -RAHB 07:04, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
