Questions, questions ?

I thought the Village Dump was the place to ask questions. I take Spam on Rye by the way. 65.173.104.112 07:43, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

The village dump is not the place to spam questions. If you have questions ask them all in one topic, or use IRC. Spang 15:29, 13 Feb 2007

Lovely arc

awwww!!! :D bless ur lil cotton socks.

don't blame Insineratehymn, to the untrained eye my recent edit could be classed as drivel or rubbish :D

personally I blame the wine! --Ceridwyn 07:17, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Hehe. I figured someone would see your edits and revert them thinking they were vandalism sooner or later. But don't worry, they're safe as long as I can still edit here! Spang 07:56, 4 Dec 2006
Hmmm, edits which appear to be vandalism but are in fact, not! Sounds like a new power to me... --Ceridwyn 08:00, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Ooh, that power sounds mighty trifling... Spang 08:01, 4 Dec 2006
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Not..../gasp....TRIFLING! I'm just /hitched breath not...ready for trifling powers, because with them comes.../pained look...trifling responsibilities! --Ceridwyn 08:06, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
So tempted to change that hatehate template just to the hate one :P oh and i got a nice random this refresh:
"I have often been described as "somewhat similar to a belittling cuddly toy". I once liked to sniff stuff, but since You constructed George Washington, I now mostly earn squids." --Ceridwyn 08:23, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
You may not think it, but I think you're ready now. You just have to believe in yourself, man, and the trifling power will come with it!
Yeah, the random thing can be pretty good sometimes :) And funnily enough, I do mostly earn squids now. Weird.
Hey, how about adding both, right next to each other? There's some contradictory fun right there! Plus I do hate myself. And, I'm already in both the male users and female users categories, so more things that don't make sense can't hurt! Spang 08:30, 4 Dec 2006
Hmmmm both WOULD be hilarious, I think I shall... yeah I did notice the ambiguous/androgynous group membership there.
As for the squids I guess you are right! I didn't think of quids-squids, just actual squid-squids. thoughts of a template are blossoming.
RE:being ready for trifling power, I'm still not convinced, and technically that should read: "You just have to believe in yourself, woman, and the trifling power will come with it!" but then who am I to quibble with s/he who aligns themselves with both genders. All I know is I'm not you, nor am I Mhaille (yes, days of musing on this topic have assured me on both counts.) --Ceridwyn 08:43, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
I actually meant actual squids. It was a lie though. It also would be a lie in the money-making sense too, but I can always pretend.
Oh, and I meant "man" in the hippy way, the kinda non-gender specific way. Saves me typing two extra letters! I'm lazy in a very complicated way. I'm sure you'll know when you're ready for trifling power... best stick with the trivial for now then, until you're ready for the trifling responsibility!
And I'm glad you're not me or Mhaille, no offence to mhaille, but that Spang's eeevil. Spang 09:05, 4 Dec 2006
In the interests of aesthetics I've decided to undent one edit at a time so this forms a lovely arc back around.
Earning actual squids would be awesome. I wish I was. I'm not earning either sadly.
The irony of being too lazy to type "wo" is that now you've had to type much more than 2 letters in the explanation/defense of the lack thereof. Take that hippy!
I think given the appropriate amount of time I may be ready, but as I apparently can't be trusted to use the Move button and therefore right yet another trivial wrong, I can't see that that time has arrived.
I too am glad, I heard that everyone hates Spang. Even Spang does, according to his user page. Maybe I still could be Mhaille? --Ceridwyn 09:19, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Heh, talk page aesthetics sounds like another trivial power to me!
I imagine getting paid in squid would be all fun until you decide you need to eat, and you can't cook said squid because the power companies don't take squid as payment. And squid don't pay the rent neither!
I did say I was lazy in a complicated way! That includes believing that the time saved missing out 2 letters is worth the many more explaining that, and the more explaining my special laziness. Totally worth it.
Yes, in time you'll be ready... though I think the move power will be granted very soon, unless I'm very much mistaken.
I'm pretty sure you're not mhaille now, as your userpage tells me you hate users who hate me, and he definitely doesn't do that! So I think you're safe there for now... Spang 18:29, 4 Dec 2006
If you were to build a fire out of dried quid (possibly last months pay check, this months is too fresh still, and we'l be using that later...) and cook the more fresh squid, for example this months pay (see!) atop the fire, then one could consume the charred flesh of the fresher squid, providing important nutrients and proteins in a process also known as eating.
I'd say thats more than 'complicated' I'd go so far as to say that laziness of this caliber warrants the title 'sophisticated.'
Well technically, I didn't put that there, I asked for EITHER the I hate users who hate Spang tag OR the I hate Spang tag. You can blame Tooltroll for that one. Technically he could put it on Mhaille's page too, which voids your argument for why I am in fact not Mhaille. --Ceridwyn 22:39, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Wow, this eating sounds fun. But I'm not sure the squid would like it.
Aha, I like "sophisticated laziness". I'd make myself some kind of award, but, y'know, I'm too lazy.
This is interesting... perhaps you are actually Tooltroll? Or any number of other people? Maybe you should go on one of those self-discovery things, and let me know when you find out. Spang 06:24, 5 Dec 2006
Whether the squid enjoys it or not is neither here nor there, the squid was payment, it is nought more than a form of currency. Its feelings are irrelevant.
You know, I had no such questions about my identity prior to coming here, I think you all want to confuse me. I know who I am. But I'm not telling :P Anyway, I can't be Trolltoll if you look at the evidence, he edited my user-page, and I have sworn an vow to not edit my user-page, so I can't be him, unless schizophrenia or alternate accounts create loopholes in the vow.
I'm considering making you a sophisticatedly lazy award, but I'm terribly busy writing my piece on Kralnor so can't right now :P
Maybe I'll just pinch a different award and change the words? --Ceridwyn 21:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, so long as the squid go peacefully, I'm sure I could live with it.
Yes, confusing you has been my aim all along. Soon you'll be more confused than you've ever been, and then I can brainwash you. I haven't decided what for yet, but it will be decidedly evil, no doubt.
I love awards, I'll do anything for one. And stealing another award and just changing the words I think is appropriately lazy for an award for laziness!
And that kralnor article is coming along nicely! Looking good so far. Spang 04:08, 6 Dec 2006
Oh noes, only one more un-dent left before we have to begin re-denting!
You may help the squids along however you please, but it does modify the flavour somewhat unfortunately.
I'm certain your nefarious schemes to brainwash me shall not succeed sir for i gird my brains with cheese.
As for awards I have some ideas, but as mentioned earlier, Kralnor is taking up all my time.
On that note, do you really think it has potential? I think its becoming awfully long, but I am very proud of my "not at Wikipedia" template! Its veritably squee-worthy!
If you can think of any suggestions or tips for it, please feel free to leave them on its talk page! I would be most honoured!
My main concern with it at this stage is when is it ready to be moved into main article space. I'm rather nervous about my first article being ridiculed =/ --Ceridwyn 04:27, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Aha! I got back to the margin first! I think I should win something. Maybe squid. Although undenting past the left hand side is technically possible, it might not be a good idea. How do you know my brainwashing scheme doesn't take the cheese into account? Or perhaps uses it in some way? Or maybe I'm just saying that so you no longer trust the cheese? My powers of confusion are strong, you see.

As for Kralnor, I don't play WoW, so I know next to nothing about the subject, so I don't know if I could help with the content. I can offer general editing tips though. It is pretty long, so make sure to keep the readers interested through it. Maybe some pictures if possible. Don't worry about it being ridiculed, I pretty sure it won't be :) Take a look at some of the new pages we get, and you'll see that yours is already like 100 times better than the majority of those already! Spang 05:02, 6 Dec 2006

Congratulations to you for being the official first recipient of the Squid Award!, although we probably could have worked out who would hit the margin again first from the time I started un-denting :P still its award worthy. you award whore you!
Your powers of confusion are indeed strong, but this cheese is blue cheese, so you must try harder than that!
I don't think that not-playing WoW should be a problem when it comes to Kralnor, his teachings have wisdom we can all benefit from :D anyway the bulk of the content is made up really. only the three posts he wrote aren't, the rest is gibberish either by me or other nutty warlock types, so i think anyone should be able to read along with it. as for the length im struggling to see where i could cut it down, so ill resort to adding more pictures in an attempt to keep the flow going, probably once i have finished the text though. Thanks for the compliment, even if the others are shite, it makes me feel better that at least mine is 100 times better than shite! --Ceridwyn 23:47, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
Hooray! An award for me! My day is made. Thanks!
Aha, my confusion is working already! Because that cheese is green.
As for Kralnor, I shall try to apply his wisdom to my life as best as I can. I don't think you need to cut the article down as long as it keeps people's interest which it probably will do. And being at least 100 times better than shite is more than most people manage in their whole time here! Spang 09:02, 7 Dec 2006
Glad my meagre award made your day. I'm considering making a little "This user" template too for your growing number of categories to belong to.
"as long as it keeps people's interest which it probably will do" /gasp! That would indicate that you didn't stay up all night feverishly devouring the details of Kralnor's Simultaneously Third and Fourth Gospels! or reading about the Minor Prophets! What about "Winning converts to Kralnoricism" ?! Blasphemer! ;P
Just think, What Would Kralnor Do? and remember, don't report him, he might get in trouble! :)
--Ceridwyn 22:03, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Heh, that's ok. I haven't made my own award to give, but I may make one up sometime, for starting this nice arc shaped conversation.
Sorry, most of my time is taken up with worshipping satan, which is a lot more time consuming than one would think. I have hardly any time these days to read about other people. Perhaps I will consider converting to Kralnoricism, though Satan may not like that. Spang 04:29, 9 Dec 2006
The arc is indeed coming along quite nicely, no award necessary, just the lovely shape of it is reward enough. As for being busy, thats understandable, The Big Red Guy must be a demanding boss at this time of year, no wait, wrong big red guy. He may not like it, but surely in the interests of research he wouldn't mind? In the immortal words of Zach de la Rocha; "Yeah! Know your enemy! Come on!" --Ceridwyn 05:21, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
A beautiful arc it is. Oh, both the big red guys are in fact the same guy. Ever wondered why the names were so similar? It's all part of a smear campaign by this hippy Jesus dude, just because he didn't get any presents for being bad one year. But I shall do my best to apply the teachings of Kralnor to my life, and also the teachings of Rage Against the Machine. Spang 02:53, 11 Dec 2006
Ah, it all becomes clear now, I had always suspected their involvement...And I'm sure Kralnor would approve of RATM as medititive music. so long as you LOOK IT OVER. Can't think of anymore to say, too tired! --Ceridwyn 04:07, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I can't think of anything more to add to this conversation other than the fact that I want to keep this lovely arc going, so that it might one day turn into a wave. Which would be cool. Spang 01:21, 20 Dec 2006
Me either really :D Perhaps we need new topics to discuss? The squid seem to be exhausted now... --Ceridwyn 06:20, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes, the squid are probably quite finished now. They should work on their stamina or something. As for what topics to discuss to keep this arc going, I have no idea. Maybe we could discuss the economic climate in Peru, or maybe tell tales of past adventures in exotic far away places, or maybe talk about the weather. The possibilities are surely endless! Spang 04:07, 21 Dec 2006
Trying to see just HOW far I can push the arc this time before it becomes ridiculous. Or am I attempting to rig the winning of the next margin contest? You be the judge! I'm not sure I know anything about the economic climate in Peru, and I haven't had many adventures in exotic far away places, unless London counts? But then again, had no adventures there. Umm, my parents took me round Europe when I was 3...and the weather here is lovely at the moment, looking forward to a barbie with some friends tomorrow! Noice one bro! --Ceridwyn 08:32, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Heheh, well I'll let you choose when to undent it. Undenting must be one of those trivial powers I lack...
Well, the economic climate in Peru is going interestingly, I've been on hundreds of exciting adventures I could tell you about, and I made both of those things up. Although I am going to London for a bit this summer, and it should be very exciting. But those suggestions maybe weren't the best. The weather here is dull and dreary, but that's just normal here. We didn't even get snow over christmas :( Enjoy your barbie, I probably won't be able to have one of those until Scotland's three days of summer arrive, which is ages away! Spang 09:11, 5 Jan 2007
Wow this section really requires a lot of scrolling these days. I hope it doesn't break my poor mouse. Its so comfy and gamer-ly. Shame about the weather, its just lovely here. No purveying cherries isn't a euphemism, at least not in the context I used it, its my summer job =/ Really tiring and unexciting. But pays ok.
As for a lack of trivial powers, I would have thought that your admin powers would encompass and include all lesser powers also? Surely? (Yes I did just reply to at least two different sections in one post. Some of your lazy must have infected me.
Oh and, I forgot a couple of things, I thoroughly approve of the trademarked colour, in fact, I'm rather humbled by it all! I'd like to thank my manager..../forces out a fake tear and a giggle simultaneously. Also I LOVE the new rainbow sig! Are you SURE you're not a girl? Oh and you should SEE what my friend made me, a BINARY CLOCK! It definately surpasses sliced bread as the best thing ever. --Ceridwyn 10:01, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, perhaps a sub-header would be the next step? That seems a bit drastic though. At least your mouse would have broken for a good cause! We're used to weather like this here, it's pretty normal for it to be cold and wet and not very nice.
I think any other powers I have other than the admin ones must be somehow blocked out by the power of laziness I have. Which is fine by me really, it means I have less to do, which is always good.
Yes, you know you've come far in the world when you've got a colour named after you! As for my sig, I made it so it only shows like this on my talk page, because the random colour template was making it take ages to load up! So it's still the same old one everywhere else but here, but I quite like them both. And yes, I'm pretty certain that I'm a guy! I just liked the colourfulness of the old one, and a rainbow seemed appropriate for non-random colourness. Or something.
Surely a binary clock would be difficult to read? Well done to your friend for making one anyway! I have a backwards clock in my room, it confuses everyone who tries to read the time from it. Spang 02:36, 6 Jan 2007

arc2.0

And I see you've archived our lovely arc! /cry!

I go away for a couple weeks and you've erased all memory of me!

Well except for changing your name on your userpage, of which I heartily approve! --Ceridwyn 00:54, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

What are you talking about, the arc was never gone! It was merely hiding until you came back! It is by far the best-shaped conversation I've ever seen. Although I do like the coloured section header on this one!
So were you off purveying fine cherries again? Or perhaps great apples this time? Lovely bananas? Can't have been nearly as fun as conversation-arc building, that's for sure! Spang 01:52, 16 Feb 2007

It warms the cockles of my heart to see the arc's return :) Where have I been? oh, here and there. If you must know, the expansion for WoW came out, so yeah...but I'm lvl 70 now, and all is right with the world again. I gave up the purveying of assorted high-quality fruit to study Lua programming for WoW for 2 wks, and an now resuming normal student life :)
I am in agreement about the aesthetic value of the conversation, certainly the prettiest I've partaken in! And thank you ever so much for the delightful colouration on my user page! <3 --Ceridwyn 06:01, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
You're welcome! Wait, are you trying to tell me there are things to do for fun that aren't uncyclopedia? I didn't know such a thing existed! Congratulations on becoming level 70, you must be proud!
You're welcome for the colouration too, I'm sure you would have done the same for me, should the situation ever require it! Spang 13:25, 17 Feb 2007

I'm not certain fun comes into all the time, more compulsion these days :)
I logged into IRC yesterday and was sad to hear I'd missed you by 20 mins :(
You know of course I'd repay the favour, or have I already? I've lost track of our tit-for-tat edits of each others userpages, can't tell who owes who anymore!
In fact if I was to be completely honest, I've forgotten which pink is the correct pink these days too, its been so long. IIRC i liked FF3399, but you were in favour of FF69somethingsomething? Perhaps you can shed some light on this :)
Also one day I'll get around to making an all pink signature for myself. the blue name and black time/date mar the pristine loveliness of my paragraphs.
I see a bit of a trend here, could this be arc 2.0?
<3 --Ceridwyn 22:39, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Compulsion, fun, it's all the same, right?
Aw, what are the chances? Though I'm usually on IRC at quite odd hours, and usually not at any regular times. So it's often quite difficult to catch me on it.
I can't remember who owes who what as far as the userpage edits go. Basically now I would just go by editing whenever I feel like it! Much easier than keeping track of things. I think the correct pink os the one that looks the best. There may be a reference to Ceridwyn Pink™ above, but I'm going to use my powers of advanced laziness to not look that up. I remember mine was more of a hot pink. Or something. I'm not really sure, to be honest, I though you were the one to keep the pinks in check!
Ah, a pink signature would be rather good! It would make your paragraphs that much more pink, which is always a good thing! If you find your trivial powers aren't quite enough and need help making the signature, just ask and I'll assist (if I'm not feeling too lazy, that is)!
I was thinking of making my paragraphs some kind of blue to offset the pink, and make arc 2.0 even better looking than arc 1! That'd be awesome. Spang 04:24, 18 Feb 2007

Yes I think I was the self-appointed guardian of Pink, but I've caught your laziness. I'm sure you are quite right and that all we'd have to do is scroll up and the answers would be there, but meh :)
I'm sure I'll figure something out in the way of a signature, although my earlier dabblings didn't acheive my secret and nefarious goals, so perhaps I just suck at this CSS stuffs.
Blue would be nice, however then we'd really be falling into awful clichededness. Perhaps you could find a nice gender-ambiguous muave, or even puce? Perhaps a shade of olive? Olive is quite nice, although it might not go well with my pink. Better stick with puce. I think I shall change the name of this heading to arc2.0 Yes without a space. I like it that way --Ceridwyn 07:07, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh dear, I didn't realise my laziness was catching! I'd do something about that, but meh... :)
If it's not above, then it'll be in the archive somewhere... but that clicking as well as scrolling and looking, so I'd probably only do that in the case of some kind of Pink-emergency.
If I see any signature-dabbling, I'll be sure to lend a hand if I can. I sucked at the css stuffs before I came here, and now I'm like the best, ever. So I feel honour-bound to pass on The Knowledge whenever I can!
Ah, I didn't consider the clichédness of the pink/blue combo, I was just thinking of using the blue in my sig. Can't be having with terrible clichés, though, so a different colour it shall be! I'm too tired for colour choosing right now, but later I shall peruse a big colour list to find the perfect one. I'll keep your recommendations in mind though!
Hmmm, arc2.0 without a space? Is omitting spaces a hitherto undiscovered trivial power? Maybe even trifling? :o Spang 04:36, 19 Feb 2007

The blue in your sig IS quite lovely, and might perhaps dispell those pesky rumours of your being a girl :P
No ommitting spaces, as far as I can tell, is not part of my trivial powers, more part of my fleeting whimsy.
Bleuch Ethics class is getting in the way of my arcing =/ --Ceridwyn 21:45, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Damn, I thought that userbox I made would have convinced anyone beyond their gender-doubting. Damn you, false rumours!
Hmmm, how about this colour? I don't know how well it goes with the pink, but it has the manliest name of any colour I could find: Burly Wood. I don't know if I'll stick with it, but it'll do for now.
Perhaps ethics class can be useful to the arc: I wonder how ethical it would be to retroactively colour all my parts of this arc? I don't know if your class covers arc ethics specifically, but if it doesn't, it probably should. Spang 09:05, 20 Feb 2007

Burly Wood eh? Certainly sounds very manly, however sadly it is quite a hard colour to read =/ Perhaps a darker shade of it? Although bear in mind it is critical to avoid it looking like poo. On that note did you intend to make the pun about "sticking" with it? If not its mightily funny anyway.
My opinion on retroactive arc colouring is that it would be unethical, although under Rawlsian justice theory, those sections of the arc have been under-priveleged or deprived, and should therefore have more given to them to make up for this injustice. Its a heavily debated area of retroactive arc colouration ethics.
Much to my dismay (and yours also I'm certain) my Ethics class is shamefully neglectful of recent retroactive arc colouring theory, almost conspiratorially so I might add. My trival powers fail me as to the correct spelling of the act of being privy to a conspiracy. :( --Ceridwyn 00:21, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Ok, today's manly-sounding colour is "golden rod". *snicker* It's quite similar to the last one, and maybe easier to read. Though I don't know how well it achieves the "not look like poo" goal. I think it's just enough gold in it to save it. Don't know if I'll keep this one either. I just get distracted by the ones with slightly funny names.
I think it would probably be best just to leave the old ones as they are. It's like history. If I was to start retroactively colouring my arcs, it might start me on a slippery slope, and before I know it everything I ever did would be variously coloured with colours with vaguely amusing names! And that just wouldn't do.
I think it is quite unethical that ethics classes aren't teaching people what they need to know about the modern-day issue of arc-colouring. What kind of world would they have us live in, one without arcs and colours? That's be a terrible place to live indeed. It's obviously a conspiracy - perhaps there ought to be a secret undercover investigation into this... Spang 01:09, 22 Feb 2007

Lol@golden rod, just where is this master list of colours you peruse? I'm not sure which is easier to read tbh, but its probably closer to baby lamb poo yellow than traditional brown, so you are probably safe at the mo.
I definately agree on the anti-retroactive arc colouring stance you are taking, more power to you!
Uggh I started writing this ages ago lol, got distracted. Thats enough from me for one arc segment! --Ceridwyn 10:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Aha, so you want to know the location of my super-secret ultimate list of all HTML colour names, eh? The place where I derive all my (admittedly inferior) arc colouring prowess? Ok. Awesome colour list here!. Today's pick is light sea green. I think it compliments the pink nicely, though it may be getting into the clichédness we were avoiding just a little. Ah well. I had considered "snow" colour at one point, but decided against it. :)
At least it's definitely not poo coloured in any way! Which is always important.
Hmmm, not very many section to go till we're back at the margin... I wonder who is going to win? I have absolutely no idea who it could be! Spang 06:34, 24 Feb 2007

Light seagreen is quite nice actually, and definately well clear of looking like poo! I think the argument that its actually a green, not blue would negate the cliché aspect easily.
As for who is going to win, I suspect I know at this point, although I wonder if the decision to turn back was entirely random or is this somehow rigged? /suspicious
What will the winner receive this time?
Also, this raises an interesting question that I hadn't thought of last arc, once we reach the margin and arc back out again, are we locked into turning at the same point as the last arc, for symmetry's sake, or is each arc another race back to the margin? --Ceridwyn 06:49, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Well seeing as light sea green is ok, I'll stick with it for now. Also, I'm too lazy to find another good one right now :)
Well, not so much rigged, as come to the conclusion that as long as each person indents or undents by one each time, the winner will always be the same, no matter where it turns back. That's the science of conversation arcs for you. I suppose one could use html/css to do a half indent, but it just wouldn't be quite the same.
Hmmm, I'm not sure what the prize should be... Perhaps whoever is going to lose should think something up soon!
Hmm, I'd say that one should be free to indent or undent at will. Others may feel that a more evenly structured approach would be better, but I say they're living in the past. The past! This is the future, there's no place in these arcs for rules any more. You could even start indenting from the right, or go crazy and indent both sides at once! The possibilities are endless!* Spang 07:10, 26 Feb 2007
*not actually endless

Woohoo! I win! Lets play again! The fun is trying to win when you play ArcConversation™ by Milton Bradley

I think I've figured out the formula for winning, the person who starts the undenting will lose. Always. Although I think this needs stringent testing. Also in the interests of aesthetics, I think if arc2.0 is ever left to die, we cannot let this happen until we reach the lefthand margin again. For example here would be an ok place, but another complete arc first would be preferable.

Not that I think we *should* let it die, its clearly superior to arc1.0 and I accept full responsibility for the expiry of that one, although I have seen the future, and its arc3.0, better, brighter and more colourful! Why we didn't start colouring it earlier I shall never fathom, and although we decided retroactive arc recolouring was inherently evil and wrong, it does somewhat offend my aesthetic sensibilities.

Anyway, I digress, the point here is 'I win', and I want a purty award, akin to the Squid Award, but much more topical to THIS arc (lets look to the present and future not the past after all!) with which to furnish the dusty recesses of my userpage, perhaps something in a tasteful light seagreen? --Ceridwyn 22:26, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Arc de triomphe.jpg
Triumphant Arc Award

Congratulation, you have won the prestigious Triumphant Arc Award!.

Awarded by Spang for being the first back to the margin, impressive
use of colour, and proficiency in the field of arc ethics.

It is awarded only to those possessed of the most advanced
arc-crafting skills known to mankind. You should be proud.

Congratulations! Well done on being first back to the margin, you deserved it. I'm considering another rainbow award, but that might be a bit excessive.

Actually, I think that whoever starts the arc always finishes it. If you think of the person who started it as always having an even number of indents, and the other person having an odd number, you can see that it's a foregone conclusion right from the start. Unless each person uses a different number of indents. Like that game with the conting numbers, that I can't really remember right now.

It's a shame that colouring the old sections would be wrong, but we can look back on them and be thankful we live in more colourful times. Of course it shouldn't be left to die, but I am very intrigued by this arc3.0 you speak of! It sounds brilliant. There was me thinking that this arc was pretty bright and colourful, I can only wonder at the wonders arc3.0 will hold!

For today's arc colour I was going to go a bit darker with normal sea green, but thought it wasn't bright enough. So I went with one slightly brighter than light sea green, medium turquoise. I still like light sea green the best out of my colours here, but I feel I should mix it up a bit. Though most of the colours I find either don't go well with pink, are too blue, or are too poo-coloured. It makes choosing colours quite difficult on occasion.

Anyway, here's to arc2.0, and the future of all arcs! Spang 07:02, 1 Mar 20072

Thank you very much for the award, however it is a bitter sweet triumph because, and I'm almost afraid to utter the words aloud(or typed?) but you forgot to indent! :O
The shock! The horror! I'm nearly speechless! arc2.0 is ruined!!! /sob--Ceridwyn 07:54, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
No no, it was entirely intentional! It was in fact a sneaky attempt to win the next indenting challenge by being in the "winning" indent position. I've indented this one twice to make up for it. I hope it doesn't just ruin it more... Spang 08:03, 1 Mar 2007

Rofl, I'm not sure I can handle such blatant bending of unwritten arc rules! I'm from the conformist school personally :P And no colour either?! You really are a renegade of arcness aren't you! As for the colour choices, I can see how you've been put in a difficult position, but as they say, um...necessity is the mother of creative arc colouring? >.> Excuse me I think I life the over on.../scuttles away --Ceridwyn 08:07, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm believer in free arcs, man. Rules are so... not rad. To be honest, I was in such a rush to correct the arc to its former glory that I completely forgot to colour it! Though I also believe that sections of colour should be treated as equally as sections of non-colour. Doesn't mean I'll stop using colours intentionally though! Spang 08:17, 1 Mar 2007

Lol filthy hippy! :P Lol I just realised I wrote "I think I life the over on..." man I must have been tired, was meant to be "I think I left the oven on..." rofl
So whats the buzz around ole uncyc these days? I'm kinda out of the loop now... --Ceridwyn 20:12, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I was also so tired I didn't see that till the second time I read it. I sure it could work as an actual sentence somewhere...
I'm not sure there's much interesting going on now... people making articles, me deleting them, same old same old! Maybe it's time to start making your own loop. I know your forté is arcs, but that might be pretty interesting. Spang 23:43, 2 Mar 2007

I do apologise friend, its been a busy wee while and your last comment threw me for such a loop (oh yes I'm terribly funny!) that I honestly didn't know how to reply!
Loops!? Not arcs?! The possibilities may in fact be endless, if in fact one could figure out where to start! I think thats always my problem, I see the possibilities of the great ball of wool of life but can never unravel it en2ough to find the beginning with which to knit the great jersey of experience!
Excuse the rambling, I've just spent the last hour secreted away in my hallway closet looking through boxes of old sketch books and I feel a bit peculiar!I think I left my brain somewhere near number 5 Memory Lane. You know, the lovely little bungalow on the corner?
Ooooooh I see where the whole loop thing came from now! Very tricksy of you Glittersprinkles!
Wow, my web design tutor would be having absolute conniptions at the deprecated tags I use here!
Anyway Mr. Pinchy dislikes loops and I am bound to his will just now! Good day! --Ceridwyn 00:59, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Ha ha! I see your joke! Very droll, very droll. :)
Loops... now those are like the future of arcs, maybe one day, we can craft a looped conversation. It would be awesome! But in the mean time, arcs are quite awesome enough, especially this one, which is veritable the very best of all the arcs.
Are you sure looking through these sketch books is entirely safe? You never know, they could be cursed (with two syllables). Ahh, number 5 Memory Lane. I have such fond memories of there. Well, I would, if I hadn't taken a detour through amnesia avenue.
I think I'd be doing your tutor proud - no deprecated HTML tags here! CSS all the way! Even though it does take long22er to type it out this way...
Gasp! Dislikes loops? He must be loopy! Spang 02:47, 9 Mar 2007

I'd use CSS but then it wouldnt be true to the essence of #FF3399 =/
This arc is definately the pinnacle of all arcdom as we know it, I'm not sure about loops, I think its beyond my trivial powers.
Speaking of which I had a wee chuckle to myself in the video shop the other day because one movie (Clerks 2 IIRC) had the line "With no power, comes no responsibility" on it.
Lol at amnesia avenue.
Mr. Pinchy can be quite crabby about things like loops. (teehee!)
So has your flatmate surfaced yet or esconced safely in his room still. What is a sconce anyway? --Ceridwyn 05:34, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm, I think a colour is the same regardless of where it comes from. But maybe that's just the filthy hippy in me talking again.
I don't think we have the advanced technology required for loops yet. But one day in the future... it shall be a reality.
Heh, I think someone's been stealing our sayings! (Never mind that it probably came out before our trivial version)
I've not seen my flatmate yet, but that's mostly because I'm not staying at my flat this week. But he is still replying to his phone, so not all is lost!
According to google, a sconce is a wall-mounted light fixture, very fashionable around the late 17th century. So I'm not sure how exactly that applies in this situation. Perhaps if he were staying in his room in the manner of a wall-mounted lamp. Which might be fun to see. Spang 12:23, 10 Mar 2007

Yes but the essence of Ceridwyn Pink TM is that its a hex colour. To go around using some weird RGB colour would just be wrong wrong wrong! They may look identical to the untrained eye, but I would know, and quite frankly the knowledge would keep me awake at night. In fact, I'm not sure I could live with myself!
Loop technology is certainly a field we should be investigating. I shall watch its developments with great interest! Hopefully there will be some really gripping conferences and workshops on it somewhere exotic that I can be paid to attend by uncyc. In the interests of developing this new technology of course!
We should definately sue Jay & Silent Bob for stealing our completely original and creative saying!!! How dare they!!!
Its when they stop answering the phone that you need to worry. Unless its a highly important raid, in which case its FINE if ppl ignore the phone in order to not interrupt their WoWing. Yeah... >.>
I had a feeling you'd bring up wall-fixtures. I suppose that makes sense. --Ceridwyn

Ah yes, but the wonders of CSS allow hex colours to be used too! Magic! Like the lovely random hex colour picked randomly from template:random colour. But I won't stop you using Ceridwyn Pink™ in any way and in any tags you please!
I think if some kind of loop technology could be devised, here should be one of the very first places for it to be implemented. I too shall be on the lookout for developments. Though I think that attending conferences in exotic locations would interfere with my laziness, unfortunately. Though travelling the world in search of the elusive loop could be pretty fun too!
You had a feeling? So does that mean that you're psychic or that I'm predictable? Or both? I sense that you don't find the subject of wall-fixtures particularly thrilling.
This just in: a sconce could also be a kind of defensive fort, hence, ensconced. It can also mean sense or wit. It's really quite a versatile word. Shame I can't use any of my sonce to make up something clever about it.
Yeah, sometimes real life just gets in the way of important gaming.
Yeah, I'll make sure he doesn't lose himself in the game too much, unless he working on leveling up the character I told him to make, in which case I'll lock him in his room till he's suitably awesome. Spang 03:45, 14 Mar 2007

See, I like the fact that my deprecated tagginess is at least consistant. Whereas you sir have so far alternated btwn font and div tags. Your hippy freeloving tag swinging ways bah! But at least you don't oppress my oldschool ways :) Not sure I approve of this new colour, or are you trying to follow your latest vandal's advice?
Certainly if loop technology breakthroughs are to be had, they will happen right here at Arc Technology Labs.
I suspect it might be a combination of both predictability on your part (not a bad thing) and a touch of psychicness on my part, possibly.
I wouldn't say I don't find them thrilling, just that I was aware that that was really one meaning of the term when I asked what it was anyway, so your initial findings weren't particularly surprising. However these recent unearthings are quite interesting, as much as sconces can be. Really if I were honest though I'd have to admit I find scones more interesting. At least you can eat them.
What character did you tell him to make? It better be a warlock! XD You may have to make use of some kind of feeding tube to provide his RL body with nutrition as the road to Suitable Awesomeness is a long one, fraught with danger! --Ceridwyn 04:53, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Well maybe it's better to say inconsistent - it keeps your opponent on their toes. Or something. Yeah, I didn't even preview that colour, just copied the first thing that came up. I probably would have chosen a different one if I'd previewed, but then it wouldn't be so random. Back to the tried and tested for now though.
I don't often take advice from my vandals, but I'm still hopeful that one day one will actually vandalise in a nice or useful way. Though they'd be hard pressed to better my userpage in its current form! Speaking of which, I feel it's time a added or changed something, but I don't know what yet.
Hmmm, well I'm working on the predictability with my random colours and inconsistency, but that psychicness is quite a talent!
Ah yes, scones. Those are pretty awesome. And so much better than a sconce could ever be, I'm sure. Aw, now I have a craving for scones, damn you!
I'm not sure, I only specified the name, and that it had to be awesome. Obviously it won't be as awesome as if I had created it myself, but I have faith that it'll be awesome enough. I will suggest warlock, though I may hold out on deciding class until I'm 100% that there won't be a god class in the future. You never know! Spang 05:36, 14 Mar 2007

Well, I've graciously decided to let you win this one, but I'm not certain I'll be able to top your Triumphant Arc award! That reminds me I still have to get that put on my user page :D
It might be nice to see something new on your userpage, though anything radical and you'd have to preserve the original somewhere.
I'm interested to know what name you suggested for him! And as for God class, I'm pretty certain warlock IS it. Although having said that, I'm a bit bored with mine atm, been having a lot of fun on my priest alt. Perhaps its the constant awesomeness, it can get tiring you know.
Sorry this is short and much delayed, you know how I am, all hiss & roar for a while then I just disappear :P --Ceridwyn 21:26, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

By my calculations, I may still lose :S Though if you think I am going to win, you have plenty of time to think up2 an award!
I'll take that hint and add all your awards to your page somewhere ;)
Oh no, nothing radical, just minor tweaks here and there to keep it up to date! I don't think I could start again with something different now.
The name I suggested was "Mentaldor". It's a bit of an in-joke. I'm not sure the Warlock enough for me. I mean, spells are all well and good, but I don't think I'd settle for anything less than absolute omnipotence from my character! Though I find constant awesomeness a real problem in real life too, it does get a bit repetitive. Spang 16:32, 26 Mar 2007

Well my formula states that you should win, I guess this is the test! Still no award ideas yet =/ Perhaps something with Dylan Moran standing beside an arc wearing a seagreen shirt holding a sign saying "#FF3399" but that might be tricky to arrange. Was he supposed to be also near a squid fuelled fire? I forget.
Clearly one of those "you had to be there" in-jokes ;P So do you know what class he's playing yet? I'm personally taking a wee break atm, too many assignments and too addicted. Need some balance. --Ceridwyn 22:13, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Indeed, time will tell!
That would surely be quite an award to behold! Now I surely will be disappointed by anything less that that, should I win!
He's playing a dark elf druid or priest or something. He can turn into a bear and a cat though, and is level 22. That's about as much as I know. Spang 02:04, 30 Mar 2007

My absence is really just a form of procrastination because I have no idea what to do for an award! Truly >.> Ok not really. I'm just an incredibly slack and terrible person.
Ah night elf druid. Can't say I've ever played once past lvl 12, I hope he enjoys it! I just never found them that appealing. Has he convinced you to start playing yet? --Ceridwyn 23:41, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

It doesn't make you a terrible person! Well, it does, but I'm too nice to tell you. I've also heard that, in the same way as those tribes that believe taking someone's picture steals their soul, editing my talk page also steals your soul. So maybe it's a good thing.
Ah, that must be it. He hasn't convinced me yet, as my laptop at my flat is too old to run it in the first place, and playing it seems to take up too much time that I don't have! That valuable time could be spent sleeping, or sitting around doing nothing, and those things are very important to maintain a healthily lazy lifestyle.
Oh, and I still think you're going to win again :P Better start thinking up another award... Spang 04:59, 10 Apr 2007

Well I can't be having my soul stolen now...wait how many edits does it take for it to be stolen completely? I think I'm doomed. Surely no-one else has made quite as many edits as I have. Oh noes =/
Probably just as well that your laptop can't run it. Best to stay clear of temptation. WoW is really horribly addictive and so far apparently humanly impossible to quit. I don't know a single person who has quit for good yet in the 2 yrs I've been playing. They always come back. Myself included, even when you don't really want to. So I suggest not even trying it. Its worse than crack cocaine. Not that I've tried crack but I can imagine...
As for winning, well historical evidence supports my theory. If you aren't too lazy, scroll up and see what I mean. The person who wins is never the person who decides to undent first. In arc1.0 I turned first and you won, in the first loop of arc2.0 you turned and I won... Something to think on. Argg! I'm hastening the process by editting further! I only have 7 more edits in which to come up with an award! /panic!! --Ceridwyn 22:30, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

I can't say for sure... but my soul seems fine, and I'm sure I've edited it a lot too. It wouldn't be that bad though, I imagine it would be on a par with being kidnapped and taken to a magical pixie land full of ice cream and happiness.
Steer clear of temptation I shall then! Unless I find myself with absolutely nothing to do for the next year or so, in which case it might be a possibility. That or crack.
Well then only time will tell! Remember the sooner you edit, the sooner it'll be over. And if you never edit it'll never be over. Though it might never be over anyway. I'm sure there's something Zen in there somewhere. Spang 05:17, 11 Apr 2007

This arc phenomenon is almost worthy of its own webpage IMO. I've been perusing blogs and twitter and such and I sincerely feel there is a place in the greater WWW for beautifully coloured arc conversations.
EEP! Its occurred to me, and I may have counted wrong, but I almost wonder if you might be right about the results of this arc! How can it be so wiley and unpredictable?!
A magical pixie land full of ice cream and happiness 'does' sound rather nice. Ok I'll continue to edit if thats the only consequences.
By all accounts (which I totally made up right then) crack is better for you in the long run.
Those are indeed wise words. I shall meditate on them at length.
Why does the signature have to be two hyphens then four tildes? That seems slightly ridiculous. Perhaps its nearly time for me to work on building my signature?
So I don't usually edit my posts, but Rcmurphy showed me this just before on irc and it raised some interesting questions. Should we allow others to join in the arc so long as they are aware of the few basic rules? It would certainly make for more interesting margin-races. Which got me thinking about arc3.0 I have some ideas about it, and I think we should really start discussing it, for its surely the future of arc technology. --Ceridwyn 00:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Indeed, why stop at a webpage? How about a whole shrine to the wonders of the arc! Although nothing else could come close to its actual awesomeness.
Haha! You see my logic now! Oh crap, that means I should be thinking up an award now... damn.
I'll combine the reply to the next two lines into one by saying you should meditate on crack. I don't see what the harm could be.
There is a box in the preferences menu that lets you choose what you want to show as your signature. There's a few help pages lying around that'll tell you how to make an awesome signiture, not sure where they are though. And I could do a thing that changes the two dashes into something else, like one em dash, or nothing if you like. The wonders of technology!
As I said in irc, rcmurphy is evil and has jealously had it in for this arc since it started! But if people want to join the arc, I can't really stop them as long as they know how to do it properly. And use colours that actually work. Part of me favours a private type arc, but I think there might at some point be a need for a multi-user arc. I have no idea if the multi-user version would be even more awesome or a horrible failure... too many cooks and all that! It is not a decision to be taken lightly! Spang 05:19, 13 Apr 2007

So close to the margin now, but I'm still uncertain, however I think you're going to need to get working on that award soon :P
I'm not sure the world of shrines is quite ready for the arc phenomenon yet. But its own website perhaps.
Hmm well all this signature business sounds suspiciously too much like work to me. So meh, prolly wont bother ;P
But if you can make a spiffy thing to do stuff easier that sounds good! XD
Clearly the arc's allure has caught rcmurphy in its spell and he is smitten, sadly this is inevitable because the arc's power is strong.
I think your idea of one private arc and one multi-user arc is a good one. Clearly ppl would have to register and pass some sort of Arc Licencing Test before they can edit it, and the test program would teach them about the proper ways to indent, colour choices etc. It may fail horribly but such is the beauty of the interwebs! It would certainly be an interesting experiment. Clearly it wouldnt be a full release number of the arc, like this one or arc3.0 but it could be arc3.1 or possibly even arc2.2.0?
Certainly something we should consider. Maybe it could have a sandbox section so they can't mess it up too bad to start with. And obviously we'd be there to guide and help them discover the wonders of arcdom.
Surely there would be room for something like this here on uncyc? The tools are all here for us to control it what with you being an admin and all... --Ceridwyn 07:55, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I think it's practically certain, barring any catastrophic acts of nature, that you shall be first back to the margin again! Better get thinking.
The sig thing is easy once you get a hang of it! I shall look around for the thing that'll change your two dashes to something else. Any preference? Long single dash? Nothing?
It's true, perhaps one day rc may be able to add to the arc, if he can learn to control his impulses to write in huge letters withthe wrong indentation.
A licence test for adding to the arc is a great idea! It's the perfect way to ensure the arc's greatness for future times to come.
I'm certainly interested in your ideas for arc3, I can harly even fathom anything past 2, so I can't wait to see what the future or arcs holds. Does it involve loops in any way or is that still way in the future?
If there was to be a room it'd probably have to be in someone's subpage or talk page or something. The main forum may seem like a good idea at first, but the masses aren't ready for the wonders of the arc yet, it could confuse them and they just wouldn't know what to do, and it'd all be ruined!
Apologies for taking so long to write this, was distraced by other things that wanted my attention the whole time! Spang 03:05, 14 Apr 2007

Only one undent to go! This is like arc-Christmas! Yipee!!
I always like when the number of colons is few so I don't have to laboriously c&p them on each line. It breaks the flow of my ranting, which is never a good thing.
Does this dash changing thing remove the need for the tildes also? I just find having to type 6 characters a bit well, OTT. I know I can push the sig button, but I prefer to type things by hand, being the budding code monkey that I am. I don't really have any strong preferences at this stage as to what characters I'd prefer to type, just LESS.
Well your nom for UotM looks like its going well, naturally I put my vote in, once I'd 'heard' about it that is. How come you never mentioned it?
You must marvel at Rc's enthusiasm though. His efforts put me in mind of an exhuberant but wayward youth, trying to roll with the big kids. At least he did attempt to use colour, albeit garish and well, overlooking the fact that it didn't work. I think you are correct, in time he may show great potential. As we discussed yesterday arc3.1 may just offer him the place to flourish, after he graduates from the test and of course, arc3.0.1 aka the beginner's slope.
Yes I certainly didn't intend to unleash it on the main namespace, as you have mentioned the world isn't ready for arc3.0 yet. I'd offer my subpages but lets face it, you're far more popular (and clearly world famous, barring the ignorance of my friend) so it would get more exposure here. Perhaps if it took off then one day it could migrate to a place of its own.
Don't feel the need to apologise, I just get awful demanding when I'm going insane from boredom. I need more projects to busy myself with since I quit WoW. I'm like the workoholic who goes into retirement but doesn't know what to do with themselves so they meddle.
Well here they go again, those cursed dashes and tildes >.< --Ceridwyn 00:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Wow, feels weird doing only one indent! I liked typing lots of colons, I had got really good at getting just the right number in one go too!
Yeah, I almost fixed it and it worked for a while, but now it doesn't :( Oh well. In a while I'll get the code to make your timestamp pink and only have to use ~~~ to insert your sig. Hooray!
You never asked! Well that and I tend not to whore myself for awards I'm up for (mostly because I'm never up for any awards)
Rc's got a way to go, and despite his denials on irc, it's obvious he wants to join in. I don't see how anyone could not want to join in! In time he and others will have the tools and training necessary to join in, and everyone will be happier for it.
Well I don't really mind where it's at either, but it'll have to start off small first anyway, so anywhere will do really.
Nah, I like to apologise often just in case. As I always say, you're better sorry than unsafe.
Oh crap, only one line to go before I have to think of a new award :s Spang 05:33, 15 Apr 2007

Drumroll please! dnl-dnl-dnl-dnl-dnl-dnl!DN!BOOM!-CCCSSHH!

Oh yeah, thats right, two in a row baby. I'd like to thank my parents and my manager and all the wonderful ppl in #uncyclopedia who distracted me while I should have been doing assignments, and of course, the person without whom this would not have been possible Rcmu- *cough* I mean, Spang!

Well, I'm a bit overcome really, I didn't prepare a speech or anything *unfolds giant piece of paper* this is just such a surprise! It was such an honour just to be nominated...yeah ok I'm done :)

WOOOHOOOOO!!! I WIN I WIN I WIN!!!! ok now I really am done. Promise. Ok just one more,

YIPEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/me waits for her award :) --Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.0. 06:08, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Baby penguin.jpg
Arctic Arc Award

Hooray! You are the winner of the Arctic Arc Award!.

Awarded in recognition of the fact that you make the
coolest arcs around, and also have a very cool signature.

It is awarded only to those who create arcs with
extreme levels of cool. You should be proud.

Hooray for you! You win an award! Ignore the fact that it over-relies on a single pun! Hooray! Spang 04:46, 16 Apr 2007

Yay! Thats a gorgeous award! Thank you!!!! :D I must get those moved to my user page sometime :) I'm considering breaking the VoNSE in order to revamp it but tbh that sounds like an awful amount of effort required!
Squeee!! that wee penguie is so cute XD Oh and I thought of a wee update for your user page. Lemme know what you think >:D
Steelblue huh? That is possibly one of the more readable colours you've chosen thus far in arc2.0 :)
I'm still super excited about my signature. I must go around posting on the forums more so everyone notices >:D And I figured out how to put the (UTC) back in but I rather think I won't. Its not necessary.
That reminds me, I'll have to add that award to mah sig too!
Well I spose I'd better hop to and do some work on these dratted DFDs :*( -- Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.009:42, 16 April 2007
You are most welcome indeed! Yes, the penguin is rather cute, although being as manly as I am, I much prefer fast cars and explosions and stuff.
I do agree steel blue is a rather good colour. I may use it more often, clichés be damned! Yeah I find the small timestamps much better. The normal ones just seem too large and too long in comparison.
Yes, I keep meaning to add the awards to your page, but I always seem to forget! I'll remember to do it one of these days. But any major reworking of your userpage will probably require you to do it, or give detailed instructions for how you want it to look. I think my original page was the best though, obviously!
What's a DFD? Is that the report thing? Well good luck with it, whatever it is. Spang 05:53, 17 Apr 2007

Ohh I see we went with a div this time. fancy ;P I'd try CSS if I weren't so lazy, I've been learning a bit of the basics.
Of course, cars and explosions are far more manly than cute penguins, or KITTENS for that matter.
Sorry, you didn't honestly think I'd get through a whole edit without mentioning the tiny terror now ruling my life?!
I habs moar pics I'll have to show you sometime XD Its good fun putting captions on them to create our own cat pics. I've emailed them with our versions :) Guna be famous XD
Thank you again for adding all my lovely awards to my page :) Its nice to have it updated!
Your original page? You mean the one with just the randomly coloured ellipses? Yeah that was pretty good but it is nice having a bit more info on it ;P One day I'd like it to be all funny and look like something else but for now I'm happy with the basics.
The whole assignments thing has slowed down even worse now that this little kitten refuses to be quiet unless he's curled up on me sleeping, preferably being petted the whole time too. Makes it rather difficult to try and type a lot, but if he's gonna take up permanent residence on me he'd better get used to typing in a hurry. I do a lot of it. -- Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.001:35, 19 April 2007
Yes indeed, divs and CSS are the wave of the future! font tags are so yesterday.
I'll look forward to seeing those pictures! Although good luck getting famous with cat pictures, I could hardly get a quarter way thourough before skipping to the end! There must be millions of them.
You're welcome, I'm suprised I actually ever got round to doing it, it only took me almost a month from first "getting the hint".
What can I say, I like simplicity. And you know when they say, Brevity is wit. You could change the direction of your assignment to "how can I make my uncyclopedia user page look the best". A worthy topic if ever there was one!
Kittens are fun though. You could build him some sort of hammock you can attach to yourself. I was always a cat person, I just don't get dogs. We've been meaning to get a cat/kitten for a while, but never got round to actually getting one. If you ever get bored of it, just get it to swim over here and I'll have it! Spang 05:15, 20 Apr 2007

Woohoo, we've cracked the 45 kilobyte mark. And thus, our arc becomes doubly-goaled!
I agree regarding CSS however that doesn't change the fact that I am, as I'm sure you can sympathise, horribly lazy. Til I experiment with hex colours in a non-deprecated tag I'm just sticking with reliable ole 'font'.
No word yet on the cat pics front, they have yet to respond to my email or update their site with what will obviously be the foremost cat pictures ever seen. A little kitten waits.
There are a few pics on my blog if you still have the link, and oodles more (generally depicting some cute act by the kitten, but not all necessarily that good in the photographic department) on my photobucket which I can link to ya.
A hammock idea had occured to me also, however shes getting past the "I want to spend every moment attached to you in some way" and is now progressing to "I want to scratch and bite you whenever I'm not sleeping, eating or chewing cables" so perhaps its best we leave that idea in the probably-not basket.
As for swimming to Scotland, she *is* rather comfortable in the bath, so if I do ever get tired of her (probably related to the whole scratching/biting passtime I'd imagine) I'll be sure to point her vaguely northwards. And sort of 'around' the whole Europe thing.
Anyhoo the assignments are calling! Adieu --Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.004:18, 23 April 2007
Yeah, it won't be long now before people start complaining that I should archive my talk page! If it were up to me completely, I would never archive any of it.
I did see the cat pictures from your blog thing, it's very cute :) Makes me want my own kitten. You may link your photobucket if you like, pictures of cute kittens never get old!
Cool, let me know if you do start her swimming, I'll be sure to look out for her.
Oh and I apologise for almost stealing your colour here, I was experimenting with colours and thought this one was too "fab" to pass up! Spang 12:27, 23 Apr 2007
Wow that is indeed a "fab" colour!
I can understand their crys for archiving when I try to scroll all the way to the bottom of this arc, but I can hardly complain since arcing is our want. On the other hand I suppose since its not their want then perhaps they have a right to complain.
Anyway, we could probably arc elsewhere, but lets leave that for arc3.0. Its nice to have the arc here so everyone can see it ^_^
I'll have to clean up my photobucket first before I link it, but I will soon I promise XD
And I'll be sure to let you know if/when I send the kitten your way!
In the meantime perhaps though you might want to look into obtaining a kitten of your own. I dont see me wanting to part with her anytime soon :P Then we can have "cute-offs" and pit them against each other in a battle of cuteness!
Check me out being all CSSy and stuffs XD Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.010:25, 23 April 2007
Wow, check out the divs on that! Welcome to the future!
Well in most cases people have a right to complain about stuff they don't like, unless you're trying to complain about me, in which case they are automatically wrong.
Here's just fine for now. Not just because the "you have new messages" box. Well, ok, it is just that. But my talk page wouldn't be the same without it.
One day, I shall obtain a kitten of my own. And it will be the best kitten there ever was, and ever will be. No offence to your Jezebel, but my kitten's awesomeness would be off the scale. Spang 07:00, 26 Apr 2007
Indeed, what a knockout pair of divs. Phwoar! I almost never see the you have new messages box, it takes me by surprise when I do. Its true though, what would User_talk:Spang be without arc2.0? Well about 49 kilobytes smaller. Buh-dum-boom-chh!
So is my sig really that bad? :( I thought the all pink really gave stealing Ghelae's sig a whole new dimension ^_^
I'd like to see this imaginary kitten of yours try and beat mine, she's getting pretty darned cute these days. XD
Anyway, I'm off to eat cake! (its mah birfday :D ) Byee! Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.0 02:50, 28 April 2007
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was going to, but slept instead. Did you get nice presents?
Indeed, them there's some divs to brag about! Ok I'll stop now.
Well I'll be sure to leave you messages on your talk page every so often then. But that may lead to an unmanageable threads of conversation. Not that I can't multitask, it just involves the exact amount of effort that my sophisticated laziness seems to want to avoid.
Well obviously the pinkness is good as always, but I've always found that style too... loud for my liking. You can see it from webpages three miles away! But I can't stop you if that's what you want!
Well I think my imaginary kitten has the advantage as it isn't bound by the rules of reality!
Well enjoy... I mean, I hope you enjoyed your cake! Spang 06:21, 30 Apr 2007
THANK YOU!!! :) Fair enough, sleep is very important!
You don't have to leave me messages, I generally check my watchlist more than my talk page so its fine :P
It is loud yes, but I felt it was time to be a bit more visible and active around uncyc, so I think its fitting. Its less jarring on the eyes than some sigs though. Its just a phase really :) I'm sure it will pass!
Hmmm good point. Not being bound by the rules of reality MAY give your imaginary kitten some advantage, but does he/she/it have badges created in its likeness? I think not.
Indeed, sleep is of the utmost importance.
Yeah, watchlists are cool, but you don't get a fancy box telling you when it's changed! I suppose it might be more exciting if it happens less often though.
Well I suppose it isn't the worst sig, maybe it's just because I prefer subtlety over loud brightness (except when it comes to arcs) :P Though speaking of sigs, I see you forgot to put yours in the last message... tut tut! Though I suppose any message in that pink doesn't need to be signed really :)
Aw damn, actual badges are way cooler than imaginary badges :( Do you wear those around the place? Heheheh. That's cool.
This is also a pretty cool colour. Heheheheh :) Spang 03:46, 02 May 2007
Ahem whoops, I wrote that one in a rush IIRC, I was on my way to a job interview. To which I was subsequently late, because of that post. However I got the job nonetheless, which goes to show, you can post in your arc and eat... erm yeah.
Yeah I do wear them around, although I forgot to put them on today because they are still in my scanner >.>
That is a pretty cool colour indeed. Its no Ceridwyn Pink TM but its pretty cool.
I can't think of much to say right now, I'm sitting in Accounting class feeling my brain literally liquifying.
52 kilobytes now ^_^
Edit because I just can't wait til my next turn to tell you this, Dylan Moran is doing a show here in town in a fortnight! Looks like I'll see him before you! I'll have the sign etc ready for the grand photo taking! Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.0 04:02, 02 May 2007
Congratulations! I'm willing to stake my reputation on the fact that it was because of the arc you got the job. Ignore the fact that I don't actually have a valid reputation to stake.
I think you may have missed the point of my colour choice... it's more to do with the hex code for it that the actual colour. :) Like this similar one.
Heh, it's growing all the time, and one day, the arcs will account for most of the content on uncyclopedia's servers! That'll be a good day.
Heh, cool, you should have a great time, he's very funny! Turns out he actually lives in Edinburgh though, so maybe I could see him before you if I find out where he lives and stalk him. Probably too lazy to do that though :) Spang 07:30, 04 May 2007
Its most definately because of the arc that I got the job :P
Heh I hadn't looked at the hex codes, but thats pretty funny! XD How long did those take you to figure out?
I look forward to that day for certain. T'will be a marvel to behold.
I doubt you'll see him before me though, the show is in 2 wks, so most likely he's touring around other places one would imagine. And yeah, you are much to lazy to do that just to beat me at seeing a man from opposite sides of the world. I doubt theres even an award for that. Perhaps we should make one. Especially if he ISN'T touring, because then we have fairly even chances of winning! I hope it will be a good show, I'm sure it will be. So 'cited!!! XD
Oh, did you see my spleen?! O_O I was most surprised by it! Surely my trivial contributions don't warrant that! Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.0 08:35, 04 May 2007
Hopefully it'll help me on that front now too, seeing as I'm looking for a job now too. I forgot to put my arc skills on my CV though, so I may have ruined my chances already. :(
Didn't take any time at all, I just had to think up words that had letters 1 - F in, no problem!
Yes, I saw your spleen, it's icky. Oh, you mean the award? Yeah, saw that too. Congratulations! Well I'm sure you deserve it. With the non-voting awards, basically all you have to do it have someone think you deserve it and give it to you, and hey presto, award! Maybe it's because these days everyone's just used to giving out their own awards, people don't gie awards as often as they used to. Spang 12:51, 06 May 2007
Never fear, arc skills are plain to see for the trained interviewer. If the job is right, they'll be able to spot your vast arc experience a mile away. /crosses fingers for you, best of luck!
Well it was very clever, it never occured to me. Of course, I don't have to think up new and exciting colours each time so perhaps I'm not pushing my creative envelope far enough.
Eeep you saw my real spleen! Thats scary and creepy in many ways :P I'm sure Olipro would read something into that. Curse him. Anyway, yeah I know that its just handed out but I was surprised anyone noticed me. I guess the giant pink boxes is a bit of a give away. I find them useful to ensure that I've voted on everything. I just blur my eyes and scroll quickly down the VFD/VFH page and make sure I see the pink boxes, the voices say that I'm allowed to sleep.
I suppose I'll take your pointing out the irony of whoring something on my own user talk page as an invitation to whore it up a bit here, at least its somewhere else. Though I'm not certain people take the time to read all of arc2.0 these days. Anyway: User:Ceridwyn/Proofreading Service User:Ceridwyn/Proofreading Service User:Ceridwyn/Proofreading Service. So far business is quiet but going well. Two customers that appear to be satisfied which is nice :D
Well, should really do some work! Ceridwyntalk contribs arc2.0 11:11, 06 May 2007
That's good then. I knew the arc would come in handy for something other than making my talk page look cool!
Yes, it is rather difficult thinking up new colours that are also good! I've resisted resorting to using {{random colour}} so far. I think this was in fact the hardest colour to come up with yet! It took ages! I might be lying!
Well then it might be appropriate, giant pink boxes gets you a giant purple blob in return. I'm sure it make some kind of sense, somewhere.
Feel free to whore it all you like, but remember to always be safe when whoring. I probably don't need it myself, as my spelling and grammar are naturally impeccable, aside from punctuating lists properly. But that's an iffy area anyway :)
When I get round to writing more articles (I have a couple of ideas floating around) I'll be sure to drop it in. Though you may well spell check it anyway, you seem to have done most of my other articles :) Spang 02:55, 09 May 2007
Wow, the page now suggests that it might be helpful to archive the arc. Its under attack from all sides!!! Vigilante arc justice shall be doled out!
I dunno, I think we might be entering a whole new era in arc colouration...
Did you do the spelling error on purpose then? Because if not, its very hilarious. I've resisted editing it so that you can see the error of your ways. Well ok, I have corrected it twice thus far then managed to undo it before posting.
Heh I think I've only edited the water powered bus of yours that I know of anyway, I tend to only encounter pages if they are on VFH these days and those certainly keep me out of trouble. The amount of articles on there with spelling errors gives me the chills frankly. And you are generally very impeccable with your spelling so it wouldn't give me a lot to do! Aside from that one typo in the above post...
I had an idea for an article today but I'm not sure I'd have the expertise to write it yet, but if done correctly it would be just darn hilarious. Doubt I'd have time though, writing Kralnor took me 3 solid days 9-5 to complete and I just don't have days off like that anymore.
Speaking of big pink blobs, you haven't mentioned my more elegant new signature! How rude! Especially after you and Famine guilted me into changing it. At least he complimented the new one, albeit backhandedly. ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 03:30, 09 May 2007
Gasp! That's not Ceridwyn Pink™! What kind of madness is this?!
The arc shall only be archived when it is finished... and it'll never be finished! Haha!
You'll be kicking yourself then, because there were actually two spelling errors there. And a grammar error! None of them intentional :( I've corrected them because I cannot live with the shame. I guess I just wasn't paying too much attention when I typed those out...
Well the best thing to do is to just sit on your ideas until they're reasy to be written down, and it'll be easy. Well, that's what I've been saying, and I haven't written anything in forever, so maybe it's not the best advice.
Yes, your elegant new signature is far better on my eyes than the last one. Bravo! It bears a few style similarities to mine, which is always a plus! Simple elegance is far better than giant boxes. And it's still noticeable, so it's all good! Spang 04:17, 09 May 2007
No its not Ceridwyn Pink™, I thought it might be funny to see what will happen eventually if we continue in this vein...
Although I suppose it will take a LOOOONG time to show up...still, we'll know!
Curses, I did only see one >.< And I see one in what you just wrote also...
I disagree, if I don't get the idea down on "paper" while its still exciting, I'll never do it. It might not even be funny. But it was at the time, we were talking in class about how to Feng Shui your computer. Including the system unit physically as well as the desktop and such. We thought it was quite hilarious and I do love a nice HowTo.
Thank you :) I initially only tweaked it as a demonstration but after that I found I was rather fond of the thing. ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 04:57, 09 May 2007

It'll take quite a while for anything noticeable occurs I think! I think the servers would fall apart before we saw a difference in it! Assuming we type very, very slowly.

Heh, would I be allowed to add "any comments I make" to your proofreading thing? It would save me a lot of trouble! Not that I ever make mistakes or anything.

Heheh, a computer Feng Shui sounds good :) There's probably a whole lot you can do with that too, could be a lot of fun!

Yes, that sig is indeed the better of the two! Just my opinion though :)

And check this out - I've undented... but only half! Haha. Bet you weren't expecting that! Yeah, each colon is two ems of indent, so I decided to only undent one, for a change. I thought it might be interesting. Spang 05:42, 11 May 2007

Aww this takes away all the fun colon adding :(
We'll just see how long it takes I suppose. Perhaps we should co-ordinate a rainbow coloured portion one day. Hmmm.
I think I can see a slight colour difference but I might just be imagining things!
As for adding "any comments you make" to my proofreading service, probably not. Primarily because I thought we had a Non-Restrospective-Editing agreement? That and I can't be bothered following you around checking everything you write. Especially because you never make any mistakes :P
Well we thought so too re:computer Feng Shui. I guess one day I'll get started on that.
Thank you for the sig compliment :P
Dunno bout this half-undenting though. Its going to mess up the symmetry! That and I can't work out how to do it. ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 06:43, 11 May 2007

I find the colon adding a bit annoying really, the new way only involved making a number one or two less. But we can do it this way too... but my way is the wave of the future, I'll tell you! One day everyone'll be using it!
A rainbow portion would be cool! I'm not sure how long I can keep up this pink, there's almost too much pink... almost.
I think the Non-Restrospective-Editing agreement only applies to the arc, I'm fine with any other comments being edited. I don't think I need any more proofreading on my comments, they're all obviously perfect as they are.
computer feng shui is coming along nicely now! Maybe just getting the idea down is the key then. That's one less excuse for me to not write anything! One day there will be no excuses left and I'll just have to sit down and write. :/ Spang 05:28, 12 May 2007
If you can teach me how much to change the numbers by, then we could change, however it will make arc3.0 less accessible to others...
I don't believe theres such a thing as "too much pink."
I think having the time on your hands is also helpful, theres so many other little things to do around the place (hundreds more for admins I imagine) that get in the way, you almost have to wait til all those have been done and you're really bored. At least, thats what happened for me. Or have something else even less exciting you should be doing and use writing the article as a way of procrastinating doing that.
Can't think of anything else to write too tired. Dylan Moran was hilarious and wonderful and well worth the money :) You'll have to make an effort to go see him live sometime! ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 11:59, 12 May 2007

It's actually quite easy. Each indent is worth 2 "em"s. So if, like above, there's 18 colons/indents, that's 36 ems. So the next one for me is 34 ems. Simple! Though I'm sure anyone else could just use colons if they wanted.

Indeed, I take it back, pink is great in all quantities. Though I may have to change colour sometime... I'm used to colour hopping, I don't think I'm ready to settle down to one colour just yet! :)

Nah, I'm sure I do a lot less than people think I do, I just do it in a way that makes it seem like it's a lot of work. I actually do practically nothing. In fact, it's mostly deleting stuff, so that probably counts as negative. But yeah, eventually I'll get it done. Maybe I'll start writing it in order to put off archiving this page.

Ah, I had forgotten Dylan Moran was so soon! Glad you enjoyed it, he's great. I've already seen him live, remember? ;) But yeah if I see he's doing a show here soon I'll definitely go and see him again. I can't remember what crazy thing you were going to get him to do, but did you manage it? Spang 08:04, 14 May 2007

Woohoo welcome to the FF3380's! /me blows party noise maker thingamyjig. Wow I haven't replied here in a while, whoops. Kinda been busy with schoolwork. And its only gonna get worse, 5 more weeks of the semester. Then its all coding, all day baby! Can't wait. And the test went really well, so you must have been sending some good telepathic help! Thanks! Doesn't appear anyone has noticed the switcheroo yet ;) I can't remember the exact details either, and it was you who was meant to do it. I think it involved a squid, a seagreen shirt, a placard with "#FF3399" written on it and the backdrop was the Arc D'Triomphe but I'm sure I forgot something. And no, I was with friends who would have thought I was a tad weird. Not to mention Dylan Moran himself. :P ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 07:15, 20 May 2007

Yay! However... Sorry about changing the colour, but I felt I needed to change from pink. Not that pink isn't awesome or anything, but I felt the time was right for me to move on, colour-wise. My apologies I could keep this incremental pink run going.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've hardly any time these days, in between sleeping, eating, drinking and watching TV. Life is tough.

Well done on your test! I'm glad my mental projection of the correct solution was of use. I'll be sure to help on the next one too. And in return, seeing as you're an accountant and everything, you can mentally send me money. That's a totally fair trade.

Indeed! I made it blend into the background colour better, and someone questioned what it was, but apart from that I'd say nobody has noticed! Haha!

They would only think it was weird because they don't understand! Heh, just finished watching my way through 3 series of Black Books, it's such an awesome show! Dylan Moran is great. Spang 02:51, 21 May 2007

Ok, today's arc entry is quite offtopic, I have some questions:

  1. With the {{poll}} if voters are not logged in but are all on the same IP, does it allow each of them to vote or will the second, third and so on voters get "You have already voted on this poll"
  2. If so, is there any easy way around this?
  3. If 20 or so people all edit a subpage of my user area, whats the best way to let people know its not vandalism

Reason I ask, is I have to do a presentation on something to do with the internet for tech and I thought, hey why not do wikis, because I have to do a lame activity with the audience so I figured having things on a subpage they can edit would be easy, however I can't sit there and wait while the whole class signs up for a username, so they would all be editting as IPs, and because its all originating from the poly we all have the same IP... Reason I wanted to do the poll was because it was fairly simple, not requiring anyone to get into the coding.

Thoughts? ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 08:54, 22 May 2007

Edit: Also can you please please please help me do the image replacement thingy of the logo, either to one like yours (I tried copying yours but it wouldnt cover the Uncyc bit properly :(( or replacing the pic entirely. Can't seem to figure out how to do it! I'll be forever in your debt! ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 12:15, 23 May 2007

I think I've answered all these questions already :D Man, I'm good!

Oh wait, the vandalism one I didn't. Well, the best thing would to be on IRC at the time, but that may not be possible in a presentation. Probably the best thing to do is just watch for people reverting it and just revert it back with a note in the edit summary saying it's ok.

I think it'd be quite cool to do a presentation on wikis. Tie it into Time's person of the year being "you" and stuff because the best websites these days are pretty much run by their users, and wikis are a prime example of that. Or something. *reminds self that it's not his assignment, and doesn't actually need to do any work for it* Aaanyway.

I think the new style of indenting is coming along well. It now comes more naturally than typing millions of colons anyway! Spang 04:09, 23 May 2007

Yeah IRC isn't an option, nor can I really sit there and watch for reverts during the presentation, so I think I'll just put up a post on the forums letting everyone know when its gonna happen (my time) and again just before it starts telling ppl not to worry about a mass of anon IPs editting my userpages. Then I can just QVFD the lot afterwards :) Is it possible to get temporary protection on the userpages that form my presentation once I've finished editing them? I'd hate to advance to page number 3 to find all it says on the datashow is "This sucks!!!" because some wise guy in the class thought it would be funny. :( Hmmm actually that Time person of the year thing isn't a bad idea actually! Thanks for the tip! ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 05:03, 23 May 2007

A reply! Finally! Woo!

Well I'm glad you did so well and I could help out! I'm sure the telepathic pass vibes I was sending helped too :)

You should get some kind or award for getting some actual real life benefit out of uncyc! Spang 05:57, 29 May 2007

So, your telepathic pass vibes are 2 for 2 now, I just got my marks back from that web development test, 95% /dance! Third highest mark in the whole class! Waaheey! So I'd highly recommend your telepathy vibes to anyone now! Spang-Vibes™ have changed my life! Well not much else to add at the moment, since we've probably covered all this IRC mostly :P ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 01:47, 31 May 2007

Awesome, well done! I don't think I congratulated you for this one on irc, too busy contents-hating :P But only 95%? Damn, I'll need to perfect my technique still.

Spang-Vibes™? That's definitely something I need to start offering to people. :D

Yeah, talking on irc ruins all the conversation that could go in the arc! Perhaps I should stop using it and concentrate here. Though that would lead to an even bigger talk page. I'm only 12 sections away from having 100 sections! And it's larger than any article page on uncyc! And if arc2.0 was an article by itself, it would be the 19th biggest article on uncyc! Woo! Spang 05:13, 01 Jun 2007

Heh I liked your colour, its actually a very nice grey as well as being amusing! Decided to try something else, though I doubt I'll change from Ceridwyn Pink™, its just a fad...

<whine> Spangleeeeessss, I'm booooorreeeddd. Accounting class is sooo boring. Wish IRC worked in this part of the tech :( Even talking about Bananadine is better than this. </whine>

Sorry, I thought I had replied to this already, but I just remembered we discussed the stats in IRC and I never got around to replying. Whoops! I do intend to make you another long talk page award sometime. Perhaps when it gets to 100 sections. Those are indeed thrilling statistics though. Did you uncover any new stats? I think arc2.0 should be an article by itself sometime. Perhaps if you do ever archive this, and I'm not suggesting you should, it could be moved to its own page. ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0

Heheh, I see what you did there :P This colour's not bad. Or maybe it is. I don't remember.

I'm sorry, I'll work on strengthening my telepathic powers so we'll be able to conduct a conversation using only the power of my mind. So there'll be no need for IRC, and it may also mean the men in black with sunglasses and earpieces who've been following me won't be able to listen in on the conversation.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I do that all the time. Any award is a good thing! I'll never say no to one :) No new stats though, though to be honest I didn't really look any further than I did before.

If I do archive this page, I'll either give the arcs their own special pages or just leave them on here. Though leaving them on here would make the archiving not very good, this arc accounts for almost half of the size of the page by itself! I think it wouldn't be quite the same on another page, but it might be necessary eventually :( Spang 06:58, 07 Jun 2007

Hmmm this one might be pushing the whole "color" thing a bit far...

Speaking of IRC its really quiet and boring right now :P Regarding the men in black, don't think they can't hear your thoughts. Haven't you watched Heroes???

Well, we're getting back towards the margin now, though I think this method should in theory make it easier to pick a winner, I'm too bad at maths and lazy to try and work it out.

I really should be working =/ Too many assignments /sigh ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 07:23, 07 June 2007

Oh this is too far! Sort of.

If it's quiet and boring I'll have to get on there to liven it up! Although I am about to sleep, so I could only stay on for a short time.

Don't worry about the men in black, I'll also learn how to encrypt my thoughts so they can't read them. It can't be that difficult.

I think I know who it's going to be... again :P Unless someone happened to undent by an irregular amount, which might make things a little more interesting :D Spang 07:55, 07 Jun 2007

You're only prolonging the inevitable with the sneaky undents :P That is all! ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 09:29, 07 June 2007

Ew C007IE5! Hee hee.

I can't believe I haven't replied here for like 12 days! I'm so ashamed. I'll try to do better in the future!

If I really wanted to prolong the inevitable, I'd start undenting one pixel at a time :D Spang 03:41, 20 Jun 2007

Thats ok, my last edit didn't really leave much to reply to I'll admit, so I'll forgive you this once! Phew I've been really busy the last couple weeks anyway, lots of assignments and I sort of fell off the no-WoW wagon which was kinda inevitable I guess. Just went away for the weekend too and came back to find my hard drive was dead, so yeah, haven't been around the Uncyc halls much of late. Anyway to undent one pixel at a time wouldn't you have to know how many pixels an em is? I guess being as awesome as you are you probably know that already though.
My CSS/XHTML skills have come along in leaps and bounds in the last few weeks because I've just finished the huge webpage assignment I had. Its like old hat to me now /flex. Once my computer is back from the shop I'll have to pop onto IRC, holidays atm, not much else to do though may have two job leads to follow up! ^_^ ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 04:54, 26 June 2007

Indeed, once I'd resolved to write a reply, I had to work to make the reply worth writing!

Yeah, I'm pretty busy too. Though busy doing stuff which involves the computer, so I still find myself on uncyc a lot of the time! Completely unintentionally of course... I just black out and find myself ICUing pages, no idea how I got there. Pretty weird.

Well... one em is just the height of the current font, so it differs depending on what you're viewing the page with. So it probably wouldn't work too well. You could use ens, which are half the size of ems. I don't think it really makes enough difference to warrant further research though! Ems are all good so far. Remember when people still used colons to indent? Ha ha ha!

I'm glad your skillz have come along, I look forward to being astounded by your knowledge any time soon! You can code up something magic for the arc, perhaps, or something.

Hya Spang, I tried to upload an MP3 file which is aprox 5.5MB, and got rejected by the server. Any advises? Thanks. ~Jewriken.GIF 18:48, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey, sorry I forgot about replying here! I see braydie has already answered your question though. Another solution may be to encode the MP3 at a lower quality, or if the upload was just timing out, upload it from a faster connection. Spang 23:48, 14 Feb 2007
Do you have an encoder you recommend? And the server didn't time out, just game me a "you can't do that it's too big" notice....~Jewriken.GIF 15:30, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
I usually use LAME (google for it if you haven't got it). Try different bitrates and settings until it's under the limit. If that results in a noticeable drop in quality, try using that one and linking to a high-quality version hosted somewhere else. Spang 16:17, 15 Feb 2007
Yep, that's the one I'm using. OK, thanks again! ~Jewriken.GIF 16:21, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Pokemon Anime

Alright, I need some help here. Is there a way to attract some willing contributors (not the ones who delete every page on site) to help me work on this page? My Idea-O-Meter is reading zero, and if I don't get it done in a few days some nutjob is going to baleet it.

Cast your wisdom on me! --User:Midnight 7 04:30, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Well pee review is your best bet there. I would suggest making it less listy and more sentencey. Also make the formatting look nicer. But as for content, I'd have no idea where to start, knowing nothing about the subject. Spang 04:38, 16 Feb 2007

Favor to ask

Considering all of the work to deny recognition to He who shall not be named, I feel that we need to take further precautions to send him the message that we don't want him here. The reason why I come to your talkpage is to ask if you could go on a "proxy hunt". Considering He who shall not be named uses proxies near exclusively, we need to deny him a workable proxy. I ask that you go out into the internet and find sites that supply proxies. Once found, you must ban every proxy that site supplies. Call it a "proxy holocaust" if you must, but these precautions must be taken if we don't want He who shall not be named to come back here ever again.

PS. When I was saying "He who shall not be named", I was of course talking about Power**** dude. --General Insineratehymn 05:15, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I got that :)
Could do, but that an awful lot of work for one lazy person. It's probably be easier searching for a place where all the proxies he has used occur in the same place, then blocking all that appear there. Though having said that, most proxy listing sites add loads more proxies every day, so blocking "old" ones is likely to not make much of a difference. Though I think some wikipedia admins regularly go to these sites and block all the new ones. If someone gave me a list of proxies to block, I'd block them, and have done before with such lists, but I'm not sure it makes much of a difference really. For each proxy that's blocked, there's thousands more to choose from. That's why it's more important to try and make them give up in the first place, rather than trying to stop them coming back against their will. Spang 06:34, 24 Feb 2007
If you are to block a list of proxies that someone gave to you, could you block the proxies found at this site? I know that you said that new proxies are sent to these sites everyday, but it's at least worth a try. --General Insineratehymn 15:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
To be honest, I really don't think it's worth the effort. There are hundreds of free proxy sites, each with thousands of proxies listed at them. If someone was using a proxy that was blocked, it's about 10 seconds' work to find a new one. I think now that most mentions of him have been removed, it's time to just forget about him and move on, and just report him if he shows up. Good work doing what you've done so far though. Spang 07:27, 26 Feb 2007
OK, I understand. But before I leave, can I ask you to do something different? Could you go search the forums and censor every instance of the word Powershot with asterisks? (example: Powershot becomes *********) I would do it myself, but I don't want the admins to ban me for tampering with other people's comments. No, I am not asking you to get banned for me, I'm just asking you to do something that I know a normal user would not think to do. It would be greatly appreciated. --General Insineratehymn 23:51, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
I removed it from the templates it was on, but left the ones on user pages and archives. I'm not going to mass edit any forum topic as that would cause them all to go to the top of the topic list, and sending all the powershot topics to the top would kinda defeat the point. You may have seen, but Braydie already got a message from an anon IP asking where that article went, so it seems he's noticed aleady. So what you've done is already working. I think that's good enough. Spang 00:28, 3 Mar 2007
Alright, that's good. I guess I'll stop talking to you for now. --General Insineratehymn 07:47, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Reverting UNNews Edit

Hey, I saw that you reverted my edit of the UNNews recent news temptlate I'm I'm just wonder as to why. I'm not pissed off or anything, in casue the written word fails to portray my tone, but fact I'm more curious than anything else, for when I made they edit, I was in search of some sort of process for getting my article on the front page, but couldn't find one. With seemingly no formal system, I just took it upon myself to put it there. At any rate, I have no intention on messing with the existing system which has proven to work so well, I just am unaware of it. Thanks. --Benny Goodman 15:49, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey, you didn't quite do it right (there was a {{{15}}} somewhere), and you removed the picture, and I was tired and couldn't be bothered fixing it, so I just reverted it. It's a complicated process, and I have blacked out most of the details, except the part where you pledge allegiance to sophia and surrender your soul to her. Search the forum namespace and you might find similar discussions on how to become one. But to warn you, the short answer is: you probably can't. It's nothing personal. Lisa Daniels

Why are you protecting that page? This isn't wikipedia. We're allowed to be sarcastic here. Rialet 04:34, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Because the article in its entirety read "Lisa Daniels is a rock star!". That's not an article, it's one line. We can be sarcastic here, but we want quality sarcasm, and that involves articles being a lot more than one line. If you want to make it again and carry it on into a full article, put the {{construction}} tag on it while you're working on it. It's nothing personal, just think how fast uncyclopedia would fill up with clutter if we allowed articles one line long. Spang 04:55, 23 Mar 2007

Fair enough. Any ideas for adding to it?Rialet 05:00, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Well I've never heard of her, so I don't think I know enough to add anything that'd make sense. If you're saying she's a rock star, maybe elaborate on her life as a rock star? It might be good to check out wikipedia's page on her for some ideas. Spang 05:14, 23 Mar 2007

You haven't heard about this? What happened was, NBC (I believe) recently did an news story about wikipedia. It was completely bias against the site, with emphasis on how ANYBODY could change it. They didn't even mention the history pages, the presence of admins, or anything. During the report, Lisa Daniels looked up her page, and changed it from "is a news correspondant" to "is a rock star" to prove misinformation could be entered on the site, thus discrediting it. (They didn't mention how her edit lasted less than a minute before being reverted either...) Anyway, Wikipedia's had to block her article to stop vandalization, because the report really ticked people off. So I figured I'd do an uncyclopedia article on her. But there's not much to say. Rialet 05:23, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Heh, that sounds like there could be some good stuff in that somewhere! Perhaps turn it around and make it about a rock star who always wanted to be a news reader? Something along the lines of becoming a rock star just to pay the bills while she was trying to break into the newsreading business?
Then you could break it into sections, early life, start of career, trying to break into the news business, etc. Often once you start and get into it, they usually start writing themselves.
Feel free to use that, or not :) If I think of anything else, I might have a go at adding to it. Spang 05:37, 23 Mar 2007

Alrighty then. Good ideas. Thank you for your help.Rialet 16:31, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh, for gods sakes! It's been huffed again...Is there a tag I can put on it to stop people from deleting it on sight?! Rialet 16:38, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

No, it's still there... at Lisa Daniels. Remember the titles are case-sensetive! Lisa daniels (without capitals) should redirect to the Proper one now. An article won't be deleted for at least a week after the last edit if it's got a construction tag on it, which yours does, so no worries for now! Spang 17:30, 24 Mar 2007
Oh sorry, didn't see someone else had deleted the capitalised one too! It's back now though, so good luck with it. Spang 17:37, 24 Mar 2007

A question before graduating from n00b college

(insert what I just said above here), I seriously doubt there is, but is there anyway I can see how many people have visted the articles I have written? Or do I just have to pray that they're getting some attention? The-elementalist 03:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

There used to be, but having a page counter on every page took up too much resources at wikia, so the page views were disabled. There is a google analytics account which logs all sorts of traffic information, but you'd have to ask someone at wikia with access to that to tell you the data, which might be more trouble than it's worth. So the short answer's no, and the longer answer is probably not. A good way to make sure they get traffic is make sure the pages are linked from related pages. Spang 16:08, 26 Mar 2007

Legal Mobo jubo

Hi I’m starting to right my first actual article. I think it’s quite funny so do my friends. It’s about Al Qaeda but it is written from the perspective of terrorist so it’s very controversial. It supports terrorism in a joking way because it’s supposed to by written well by a terrorist (I am not implying I’m a terrorist) but I am worried about legal issues and I am quite scared I will be charged or something any way I have made a disclaimer. Do you think I need one or not and should I add stuff to my disclaimer or should give up because we don’t have enough freedom to by funny anymore.

Disclaimer: This web page is a parody. I do not indorse any act of terrorist or suicide. I don’t encourage you to join Al Qaeda. People aid, plan or commit acts of terror will be trailed in a court of law. The opinions expressed in this page are not my own.

Is that good or do I need more?-Huffo 11:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't think you need a disclaimer. This is a parody site, and as such all entries are assumed to be parody and not serious. You can include one if you want, but there are plenty of articles in bad taste here that don't need a disclaimer - Holocaust Tycoon or Cancer porn or anything else in for example. The "this article is designed to offend" template is probably enough. Spang 12:22, 30 Mar 2007

You can upload images by clicking the "upload image" edit button above the editing box, or clicking "upload file" in the toolbox on the left. Use the image wikicode to add it into the article, wikipedia's editing help page should tell you how to do that. Spang 16:23, 30 Mar 2007

Alliteration hack?

Hello, I was wondering whether you know how to alter the article tags at the top of the page? You're the expert on these things, and I was thinking that we could replace the tags on Alliteration with alliterative counter-parts. They could go like this:

article  articulation  alter  adaptions  allocate  assess

Could such an act be possible? And is there any point to it? Me and Strange but Untrue talked about it on the talk page, you could join the debate there. Thanks for your help! Atomik Spongeface 00:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, that would involve page-specific javascript, and there are no pages on uncyclopedia that have that, and so might be rather difficult to set up. It might be possible to have this when the bugs are worked out in the new mediawiki version, but it's not really possible right now. Also, you'd then have to fix all the links in the sidebar too, and the user and login links up at the top... it's probably more trouble then it's worth :) Spang 06:50, 11 Apr 2007
Oh...I...I see...*sob*...yes, it probably would be more trouble than it's worth. I see what you mean. Well, thanks for your help anyway! Atomik Spongeface 10:42, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, yeah. I put {{construction}} on it, take it off when you're finished. We get a lot of crap here, and articles that are copy/pasted from wikipedia with certain words changed are one of the kinds that gets deleted straight away. Hopefully you'll be able to build it into an actual article. Spang 07:54, 15 Apr 2007
Thanks. Kgrr 07:57, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

peace of dennis

don't be such a fucking DICK, this isn't wikipedia and the page WAS A WORK IN PROGRESS.

YOU'RE A CUNT MATE.

PS: Some jokes are funny short, like you're penis. you got rid of faction too, I really hope you feel good about yourself cos you really must be a FUCKING CUNT.

I think I know what this website is better than you, mate. If the jokes are that good, keep them as lines in the original article, there's no need to have a separate article for a single line. If you had any idea just how many articles with a single line we get each day, you'd understand why they're all deleted so quickly.
And I should mention that it's not a good idea to say that to one of the people who could ban you from the website if you want to keep working on your articles. I'll let it go this time, but in the future, calm down. It's only the internet. You'll get a lot further being polite. The John Hannah page is good, you can add the deleted sentences into that article, no problem. Also, add the {{construction}} template to the article to stop it getting deleted for a week, if you're still working on it. Spang 05:04, 16 Apr 2007

Huffed redirect

Hi Spang - not that I really care hugely, but just thought you might like to know that when you huffed Insulting Maplestory you actually got rid of all the history of Maplestory which had been redirected there by a vandal and only copy/pasted back by someone else. (Also the talk page, if that existed.) About High General Grue's ban

I'd like to request that he be either unbanned from Uncyc or #uncyclopedia. I'll make sure he stops being an ass. --Starnestommy (TalkContribsFFSWP) 00:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

He got banned for being an ass, so he can take the lesson and not be an ass again. It's only two days. He can still join other IRC channels, but he needs to learn that if he's banned for being an ass, he can't just get off it if he just asks. Spang 12:54, 17 Apr 2007

If it offends you I shall change it into my other, much better, award.

MediaWiki:Common.css

Could you please do some CSS "magic" and conjure up a template class similar to "zorkclass", but with differently-coloured text and bullet points? Please use html colour "lime" (#00FF00). Thanks. —Another Pongo Flame Sandbox 17:22, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

What's wrong with just using the zork class? You can make text lime anyway by adding color: lime to the style bit in the header. The links and bullet points will stay yellow, but lime bullet points and yellow links look a bit weird. Spang 05:41, 18 Apr 2007
Trar wants his green text, you see. Oh, sorry, maybe I wasn't specific enough. Is there a way to change the link colour without editing Common.css? Thanks. —Another Pongo Flame Sandbox 19:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
I already added the green text to the template. It's possible to change the link colour without common.css, but each link has to be set individually. Common.css stuff should only be added if it's important, so if it's really really necessary to have links a different colour from that yellow, I could add it in. Spang 07:08, 18 Apr 2007
Meh, I'm fine. Thanks. —Another Pongo Flame Sandbox 19:19, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Maybe I should stop putting "thanks" after every comment. It makes me sound creepy. Thanks. —Another Pongo Flame Sandbox 19:27, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. Maybe I should start saying that at the start of every sentence. Spang 07:30, 18 Apr 2007
That would be great! That is something you can start doing right now. That would be quite interesting, wouldn't it? That would get a little annoying, though. —Another Pongo Flame Sandbox 17:50, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey, Spang? Where's the image request page? The Humbled Master 22:15, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry!

dear Spang,

Hello! I seemed to have caught your attention. I was poking around in a “non-existent’ article, seeing if there was some way I could cause it to manifest with little or no visible content, seeing if that was actually funnier than way. I figured if it reverted back to how I found originally it in 24 or fewer hours, it wasn’t. It got fixed so quickly; I thought I might be dealing with some sort of automated thingy calling its-self Spang (looks like the Germanic sprak, perhaps making it related to speak and the last name Sprague, etymologically). Inari, in a lucid (as apposed to bat-shit insane) mood tactfully suggested I apologize. I agree. Sorry! Your response was measured and reasonable (for a round-pupil). Sorry, that was out of line, measured and reasonable for a mortal. It can be hard to know where boundaries are in humorous environments.

I do need to warn you, though, that anyone with a name that resembles fox in any number of languages could be a dangerously powerful entity; [Vulpine, Zorro, Fux, etc.]. Many are perfectly nice entities and just as a Labrador would not rip your throat out, even though that is in the realm of physical possibility, many of them would not huff your soul. Some are not so restrained. This is not a threat, just FYI. If you run into any malevolent entities, let me know and I will see what I can do.

Verp

No worries. It wasn't so much a "get off my internet" ban as a "get your attention" one. This page does not exist is one of the few pages that will get deleted as soon as anyone with the power to delete it sees it created. Many people have tried to create it in many different forms (130 to be precise), so it's nothing personal. I'm not actually an automaton, though many people do make that mistake. It might be something to do with the fact that my entire left hand side is robotic, but who knows? I was just in the right place at the right time (for varying degrees of "right").
I do actually know a few malevolent entities - one of them is called Rcmurphy. But he's more evil than can be put into words, so I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to associate with him. Anyway, I see you've learned your lesson, so good luck with your uncyclopediaing. Spang 12:03, 23 Apr 2007

Un-ban request for user:Inaneframe has been duly processed

Good morning spang, I was approached by User:Inaneframe with a tale of unjust banning. I checked the facts and decided that the "unjust" part was indeed a part of the equation. So I placed an un-ban request on the ban-requestors userpage http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/User_talk:Strange_but_untrue#Relayed_unban_request. After this, I happened to be on-line on the #uncyc IRC chan and managed to catch the sympathetic attention of keitei, whome agreed to unban said user. So basically, everything is smelling like daisies once again. This entry is intended to inform you that this case does no longer need your active attention -- di Mario 21:16, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but I've re-blocked him. I'm not sure what he told you, but he actually uploaded the actual goatse image to image:hello.jpg. You'd have to be able to see his deleted contibutions and the deleted revisions to see for yourself, but you need to be an admin to see that, so you'll just have to trust me that he did. Last I checked, uploading goatse is an infinite ban offence (hell, even linking to it is usually an infinite ban), and being a new user is no excuse. It should be rather obvious that uploading shock porn to any website, not just this one, is almost certainly going to get you banned. Spang 05:20, 26 Apr 2007
Okay, as you say, I cannight judge properly if I cannight see the whole thingy. I'll believe you on your word if you say it was goatse. Mainly because any other course of action would mean wasting more of your time, for which btw I apologise. -- di Mario 18:01, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
It's no problem. It's actually good that someone's taking the time to make sure my bans are fair, but I just think I was right in this case. If you come across any more you have questions about, just leave a note here and I'll look at it again. Spang 07:36, 27 Apr 2007

I'm on his list twice. Best thing is to just ignore people like that, they just do it for the attention. I'll semi-protect it if you still want to leave for a bit. Spang 11:00, 27 Apr 2007

Hmmm. It could be because the site's error is stopping it loading. It's definitely a tab that says "qvfd". Are the other parts of your javascript loading edit buttons and tagging buttons etc? I made one last try, try refreshing and see if it works now. Spang 11:43, 11 May 2007

Great! There may be a similar security option you can change in IE, but I've no idea where it would be, other somewhere in the internet options part. You might have to play around with it a bit. Spang 04:39, 17 May 2007

Ahh, I'm back to complain again. Well, it isn't your fault, but anyway, QVFD.js isn't working at the moment. The error console says there is some sort of problem with the line "var lines = form.wpTextbox1.value.split('\n');" in the QVFDupdate function. I think the problem started when Wikia last did a small update a few days ago. I thought you would be the most likely person to know what to do. :) Icons-flag-au.png Sir Cs1987 UOTM. t. c 04:59, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I can fix this, will do it in a second. It's wikia's bad HTML in the wikia spotlight box that broke it. Feel free to tell them to fix so this stops happening in future! Spang 08:56, 20 Jun 2007

ICU tags.

In my feeble attempt to cleanup, I've been adding various {{ICU|~~~~~|fix=your message here}} tags to various new pages. I've noticed you putting up a few ICU tags with an extension at the bottom about the need for content, nicely laid out.

I can't find the proper tag for it - or at least, not without putting extra junky-junk-junk on the page, so I'm just requesting if you could slap the proper tag in nowiki format on my talk page to make things a bit easier for me - at least, before I get banned for accidentally abusing the ICU tag too much. Y'know. -- Pigeon 12:38, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, the fix messages are usually ok. As long as you're only adding the tag to new pages that need it, I'm pretty sure you won't be banned!
There's a list of pre-made message things you can use, you can see them at User:Isra1337/ICU and on Template:ICU. It's not hard to remember once you've used it a bit.
Also, there's also a script thing you can have that gives you extra buttons on the toolbar, which let you tag pages with a few clicks and makes ICUing stuff a whole lot easier. Or you could just have one extra tab at the top just for ICUing. If none of that makes sense, just ignore it, otherwise just ask and you can have :) Spang 01:23, 11 May 2007

Just enough time in advance to make sure there's an admin around when you want it to go up. So that's pretty much any time up until the 25th. To clarify I simply followed the link from here (see the post by herrdoktorneedsabrain in the Starnestormy discussion), wasn't really aware what I was looking at, and thought it was some kind of talk page or something so I edited crappy to shitty. I wasn't even aware this site had forums. For that I got blocked and yelled at. Anyway that's the story of that fiasco. Quadzilla99 12:11, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, I think it was ZB's fault....he did that part :). What colors do you recommend? ~Jewriken.GIF 14:25, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Well the normal colours seem fine to me... Maybe I just have an aversion to bright lime green and purple in large blocks of colour. Let's just say it's not the nicest colour combination there is. :P And to be honest I don't see the point in making all the links black! Perhaps that's just a reference I'm not getting.
Is there a colour combination that'd be more appropriate to the Hitchhiker's guide? I don't know it well enough. If you or Modusoperandi can think of any better scheme, or want it back to the original Main Page colours, and you can't work out how to do it yourself, just let me know! I just fear for the eyes of people coming to the Main Page while the reskin's up :P Spang 06:29, 21 May 2007

How do I....

Make a templet Spatz 15:32, 20 May 2007 (UTC) Whoops forgot to sign, still noobish

The short answer is that, in general, you don't. Only make a template that is going to serve a useful on several related articles. Note that any "approved" template will likely be deleted straight off, so don't even think of making one of those, or similar. They've been done to death and been show to add very little to any article.
If you're sure the template you wish to make fits in with what I've said above, then just find an already-existing template which is similar to what you want and copy the code and change it to suit your purposes. It's not too hard to find the important bits in the code through trial and error. Spang 03:02, 21 May 2007

I've reverted his edits for now, though he may still come back.
If you have a disagreement, the best thing is to talk with them on the article's talk page to work out the differences. If he's vandalising, you can report him on Ban Patrol and an admin will check it out. Seeing as the uncensored version doesn't have any real comedic value, he's missing the point a bit, and so just feel free to revert his bad edits. If he keeps on doing it, you can report him on ban patrol.
Well done for looking out for uncyclopedia though! Spang 07:08, 07 Jun 2007

My humble offerings

Dear Spang,

Congratulations! You have been chosen at random from the list of admins for your vibrant and humorous username.

I would like to have a second opinion on my humble offerings, as it's not clear to me why that cannot be the start of an article. Please note that what I propose is not the final article, just a stub on which other users can expand.

The first opinion can be seen here and here.

Many thanks and kind regards. Hopefully Acceptable Username 06:06, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Wow, I am popular for the random admin choosers today :)
Well, before I get on to the subject matter, I'll point out that the chances of someone expanding a stub on this site is pretty slim, depending on the subject. I wouldn't always count on it being improved by itself, and so you should give it the best start possible, and so it could do with being expanded a little, maybe just a few more sentences in each section. Even combine one of two of the sections so it looks more article-like.
As for the subject, I agree with the idea that the media has blown it way out of proportion for one missing child among thousands, so that's the obvious way to go for the main idea of the article. The rest of it (like the sightings section, say) is on the line if not over is, because there's arguably nothing inherently funny about kidnapping/murder, so anything that draws solely off that would need to be very good to make up for that.
Unfortunately, a lot of the time on this site, how acceptable a potentially offensive article is often depends on whether the person who wrote it was an admin on not. So there's a pretty good chance that once in mainspace, someone may vote your article for deletion at some point, solely because of its subject matter. Having said that, if it's tidied up a bit, I see no reason why you shouldn't move it to the mainspace. But don't say I didn't warn you if someone VFD's it :) Spang 07:43, 07 Jun 2007

I have recently created an article on Checkpoint Charlie (here's the wikipedia article if you're not familiar with what it actually is) and I have received referral to you for help, specifically regarding "a full page graphic version of the page to make it more checkpointy" that you apparently have skill with. I'm not exactly sure what Mordillo meant, but I thought I would ask anyway (Thedivinebovine 14:43, 8 June 2007 (UTC))

Well what he's talking about is removing all the uncyclopedia bits like the left hand column, and the top tabs (like, say, The Consumerist does), so only the article content is viewable. I could do that, but I'm hesitant to do that unless the article really needs it, and I'm not sure the article would be much better off with that all hidden. Spang 04:27, 10 Jun 2007

I've developed new code

I borrowed some of your JS, more specifically the recentChangesHighlights. I took some of that code, tinkered with it a bit, and created a new function I call blockHighlights. What this does is that when you go to the Special:Ipblocklist, it highlights in red all of the users that were banned for an infinite amount of time. For me, this is easier than pressing Ctrl+F to find every instance of the word 'infinite'. Here's the code itself:

function blockHighlights() {
   if (wgPageName == 'Special:Ipblocklist') {
      var targetContent = document.getElementById('bodyContent');
      var rows = targetContent.getElementsByTagName ("li");

That's cool. Though I hardly ever use the IP block list, so wouldn't be much use to me. Can't remember who it is, but someone was making a list of lots of different js scripts, you could add that to there. Spang 04:09, 20 Jun 2007

soccer 24-7

Hey Mate, just wondering why ya wont let us have our own page?

It's because nobody except people who go on the forum are likely to have heard of it. It's nothing personal, any admin would do the same for any similar forum on the internet. See the rules on such things at UN:VAIN.
A lot of it was also about members on the forum, which is a big no-no here. In general, you can only refer to people in an article if they're famous or imaginary.
You're welcome to add to the articles on soccer and related subjects if that's what you're into, just as long as you're not adding stuff about a forum or people who the readers won't have heard of. Spang 10:57, 20 Jun 2007

But cant you let this one slide though? it was just a bit of a laugh for all of us and did no harm really.

But if one is allowed to slip through, other people will want theirs to just slip through too, and soon you end up with a site full of articles about forums, and people's friends, and stuff most readers won't have heard about. That's why these rules exist in the first place.
People create many articles every day on themselves, friends, forums, websites and the users on them, and those all get deleted. Sorry, it did look like you had worked quite a bit on it, but it's just not allowed here. I can restore the text to somewhere else for you if you like. Spang 12:20, 20 Jun 2007

Fair do's. Thanks for answering my questions anyway mate.

You good at ban making!

For that I give you this!

Yay! Thanks! I do good bans! All my banning work is not in vain! Spang 06:39, 23 Jun 2007

Dear Spang,

Why on Earth did you delete "Barney Online?" It was not a short joke. I cannot find a page called "QA". Would you please direct me to the proper policy page? Sincerely, Not an anon anymore 15:26, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

It was deleted because it looked pretty bad and full of nonsense, not in the good way. QA stands for Quality Assessment, and basically means it just wasn't up to scratch.
I've restored the page to User:Not an anon anymore/Barney Online for you to work on until it's ready. It should look a lot more like a proper uncyclopedia page, with paragraphs, headings, and pictures before it's moved back out. Good luck! Spang 06:54, 23 Jun 2007

Spang...

What have I become? A target for Edians? I don't know... all I wanted is peace with UNKNOWNFILE... my dreams are ruined... and you have helped me stand by my words.

You're welcome, though I'd strongly suggest that you tone down the army/war thing, and just ignore any supposed rivalries with any other users... it's just going to cause trouble, like what just happened. I think the "grue army" does useful things and is good for uncyclopedia, except for the drama that goes along with it, which is very bad for uncyclopedia. So keep that in mind. No worries, just saw it and thought I'd fix it for you. You're welcome! Spang 09:25, 30 Jun 2007

dear spang

on the 30th of june you huffed my article on the "Cult of Boon" a most non vain cult I was just wondering if it would be possible to get an official reason for being huffed and where i went wrong. if it is about being vain ill have you know vanity is quite humorous when your as vein as i am, and i think the pages humour outways my need to be recognised as a most vein person. please if possible put the article back up.

Boon 09:12, 30 June 2007

Well, sorry, but seeing as your name is apparently Boon too, I can't restore the articles, as it goes against our vanity policy. Which is, we don't allow any.
Basically, we won't have articles on any person unless they are famous, or not real. You are neither, so the article can't stay, I'm afraid. You can get the text here, and get a MySpace or something. Note the article will still be deleted if you repost it here. Spang 09:56, 30 Jun 2007
ok i can handle that but u gotta admit vanity and a cult created by a 15yr old boy is a humorous mix, what do you think? And boon is a ficticious name created by me. Boon 12:20, 1 july 2007
Well, I have to say, that the mix of vanity and a cult created by a 15 year old boy are probably only funny to that 15 year old boy. Which is my point. I know you find it funny, everyone always finds their own pages funny, but the point of it being on uncyc is that it will be funny to other people. And trust me, if the last 10000 vanity articles people tried to create weren't funny to other people, yours probably won't be either.
When I said name, I meant username, of course. Spang 04:41, 01 Jul 2007

>_>.

Could you at least give me the article which you "huffed" (article name = CGS), as I wouldn't mind having it, and hosting it on another site, seeing as for whatever reason it does not belong here. We spent many hours putting it together and wouldn't mind having a copy of the article, thanks.

When Requesting Your Article Back - Tip #4: Say please.
See tip #3 above. ~ Dame Ceridwyn ~ talk DUN VoNSE arc2.0 09:09, 30 June 2007
Saying please does indeed help, and your first attempt was exactly how not to go about it.
As for your article, it was deleted because it was about a school, and we don't allow articles on schools. Especially schools in New Zealand, which have been particularly troublesome in the past. That's because they are very hard to monitor for real names and personal information about pupils or teachers there, and as such such information can easily slip in. They are just not worth the bother. From looking at the source, there were some real names in there already.
You can get the text from the article here, but note that the article won't ever be allowed on uncyc. Spang 09:50, 30 Jun 2007

Uh... how can I put this..?

“I need your help... I have to stop it.”

~ Spider-Man on a similar problem

I told Ljlego (my Uncyclopedia Dad) this...

“Strangely enough, whenever I'm signed into my regular Citation-Seer account it Uncyclopedia comes out looking like the nihilism page. See? And yet whenever I use any other account (or am just simply not signed in) this website looks fine. Is this some random n00b prank or somethin'? Or has my name been randomly eliminated? Reply to this using my Citation-Seer talk page. I can still see it.”

...and he told me...

Help!

I need a sysop's attention. What is IRC? How can I get an account there? And how did you do that "Spangpedia" thingbelow the Uncyclopedia logo, I'd like to do something like that (not the same obviously) Also, I'm having a bit of problems with my sig. I need to make sure the ban link properly links o the Ban Page (Which Bans Me). I'd appreciate yourr help as soon as possible, thanks!

IRC is a chatting program, and is useful for discussing stuff that would take too long to discuss on-wiki. You can find out how to join the channel here. That's join as in connect to, you don't have to sign up or anything. The "spangpedia" thing is just a picture positioned directly over the logo, if you look at the code on my page, you should find the bit that does it eventually. And I'm not sure why you'd want a ban link in your sig. I mean, you don't want to be banned do you? It's a whole lot easier just to stop editing. Saves everyone a lot of trouble. VFH

Well, we've made tons of progress today. I'm really glad that a guy with your expertise decided to step up and fix my shitty page. It's nice to see it coming so far along and knowing that I actually touched it a little. I think it's ready for a test run unless there are some kinks to be worked out that I don't know of. Again, thanks for the assistance.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 03:07, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Don't mention it! I'm not sure it's quite ready to go yet, it needs some more fixing up first. Though I think the loading times are down to acceptable levels now, for the most part. I think it is mostly done, but before it goes live we still need to:
  • finalise the method for archiving/featuring articles
  • add in/fix up all the help/rules templates to be included
  • decide whether the summary or the full thing is to be made the "main" VFH page.
  • probably some other stuff I've forgotten.
And when that's all done we'll need to put a note at the top of VFH saying it might be changing, and probably have a vote on it. Then, assuming people vote yes/don't care, we'll need to set a date to protect VFH and move all the nominations to their sub-pages, in order from bottom to top. And anything else anyone thinks of along the way. It'll get released into the wild soon enough! Spang 11:13, 03 Jul 2007
If only people would reply to the forum topic I've posted. I think people will get cross if I post another. I don't know exactly how to go about things in this situation. My name isn't really taken seriously in very much of anything 'round these parts. Or anywhere, for that matter. Though I was getting some strong vibes from a super-super hot 16-year-old last night. /me looks down toward his feet, runs into bathroom.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 22:12, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, if I recall, somewhere up in this mess of talk page, you said you'd archive the talk page at 100 sections (that was back in my noobhood when I was a noob). Well, we're on 112 and counting. Still no archive, and the load is almost as long as current VFH if not longer! Just a thought.-Sir Ljlego, GUN VFH FIYC WotM SG WHotM PWotM AotM EGAEDM ANotM + (Talk) 22:40, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

.css stuff

Ok, so I am making an article for the PLS, and I would like a bit of your help. User:Severian/Germ Warfare MediaWiki:Skin/Uncyclopedia:Germ Warfare.css

I want to reskin the page I guess...and the image I have in mind is this one because it is cool.

If you know of a better one...by all means...lemme know. Sooooooooo when I made the MediaWiki page, I forgot I"m not an admin here and I can't play with it...so would you be so kind and put the .css in for me. I just want to be able to normal wiki magic like links, pics and stupid jokes in over top of the back ground pic. I guess all the other menu stuff can look normal...I dunno...

Lemme know.

Thanks,

Sir Severian Severian1.jpg CUN.png (Sprich mit mir!) Kraut.png

Yeah that's possible, kinda like Slime Cube? It'd be better if the background image could be tiled/repeated, and it'd have to be light enough to not cover up the text. I'm not sure that picture would work as a background so well, but if you want it I could put it in. I don't have enough time to look for good pictures for you though, sorry! Let me know if that's the image you want, and when you want it done. Spang 10:35, 03 Jul 2007

here is a smaller pic, tileable I think. pic and the text should go over it, even if I have to change the colour. Oh yeah, your talk page is 194 Kb... Sir Severian Severian1.jpg CUN.png (Sprich mit mir!) Kraut.png

Ok, it's done! Refresh and check User:Severian/Germ Warfare. And yeah, I was planning on archiving it when it got to 111 sections... I'll archive it shortly I think. Spang 05:45, 04 Jul 2007
