Nice page, you and Romartus have kicked out a nice one there. And since you are writing again, you may actually be the first person to reach the 40 feature mark, a spot reserved for the legendary or hauntingly frightening (take your pick) residents of Olympus itself. Nice work. I saw the link to Hoboeroticism, and if that page is your too, hats off and dusted to you. Aleister 10:53 11 6 MMX

Thankyou very much......as much as I would love to take full credit for Hoboeroticism it was mostly young Codeine. Would be lovely to reach the big 4-0, first I think I need to polish something from my back catalogue or remember how to write funny. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
And now you have to catch and pass him! Leave that slacker Modus in your dust, let him see your hindquarers racing away from him. Force him to get back to writing again, damnit. Kindest regards and cake and cookies, Aleister 12:28 17 6 MMX

"Go eat more shit, fuckers"...obviously I am excited to have reached the BIG 4-0, and am delighted that enough of my peers deem the quality of my work good enough to have reached that figure, although I have to say I'm a little pissed that at least 10 other of my articles are feature-worthy and are constantly overlooked (lengthy bans will ensue, I'm sure), I am equally as proud of my featured images, as well as many of my other contributions that I hope that my peers feel have augmented the work of others. I'm sure she has, however there are ways of dealing with matters like a grown up, and then there's behaving like an infant. A simple message on the user page or on the forum explaining the issue and we could have it resolved. The world does not revolve around her and her amateur photographic work. I'm sure Hype will replace the image as soon as he is aware of the issue. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
I'm not saying that I do not believe she handle this appropriately, as she did seem quite irate on the phone when discussing it with emc, but Hype is already aware of the issue and (from his initial reply to her) doesn't intend on replacing the image without a push by yourself. Emc is already working on a replacement anyway. And the edges of it won't be shit this time. MegaPleb Dexter111344 Complain here 14:26, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

Not sure about the "parody" angle, that would only come into play if the article was about freelance photographers or the individual themselves. To be fair, if this image is indeed her copyrighted work she has every right to ask that copyright be respected, and we do have historical processes that we have gone through for just such occasions. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Not a problem, I'd have preferred Hype to have edited it as it is his work, and I'm sure given a short reasonable amount of time he would have done. Obviously we can't react to every screaming nutjob who claims copyright infringement without something to back up those claims, but when we have been asked to deal with an issue we always have. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

So, I've heard talk of various e-mails currently flying around (or soon to be) about various people, myself included and I would wager that Flammable will be the one doing the talking; we've had several verbal disagreements on skype regarding the handling of this whole IRC debacle and nobody likes being disagreed with, but in any case I would never and have never taken unilateral action against an administrative decision but at the same time, I expect the original action, if the offense was serious enough, to have been made as a result of a discussion and NOT unilaterally, I'm against it and it works both ways. What I will never promise to do is tow the party line; if I disagree I'll say so, my goal is to talk someone round, not pummel them into submission until I feel I can override them because I wouldn't do that regardless. No doubt Flammable will see this and it's aimed at him more than you anyway, but it's always good to have a third party in the loop :) -- Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. (Harass) 15:58, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for not responding sooner, had a 200 mile round journey last night and couldn't be arsed.... :) Firstly I would have to say that as far as I can see there is not, nor has there ever been a "party line", the implication that there is is usually the last resort of someone who recognises that they may have done something naughty and are about to get spanked for it. Pointing at some ghostly Cabal and wailing about injustice is usually a convenient method to avoid admitting "I fucked up".
I would like to think that I always aim to do what is right, even if that does not meet the general consensus of opinion, and I would expect no less of others. I would also like to think that I am, for the most part, quite easy going, and will overlook some suspect behaviour, especially coming from long established contributors to the site that maybe I would be less forgiving for amongst less established users. Maybe that lack of consistency is an issue, who knows? Again, given that I maybe like to think of myself as a "good cop" there have been of late a number of actions from established contributors (some of whom are also admins) that have concerned me greatly.
I appreciate that we all come here from different backgrounds, and this not only colours our view of humour but also of what is right action, social interaction and all nuances of modern life. Again, I can only speak from my own perspective but for me to reach the point of looking to take action usually means something major is up. When others seem to share the same concerns it merely reinforces your own view, but should not colour it in any way.
It is important too that we view everything seperately, except where it demonstrates specific behaviour from an individual. Contributing here has been a joy (at times) and I would hope that my adminning has met with the approval of the community. I would also like to think that when I have cocked up, regardless of my intent, that people have been able to approach me and for me to deal levelheadedly with those issues. From what I have seen of late I can't say the same for several of my peers and that is a concern for all of us. As it should be....
Nobody wants to lose valued members of the community, but when our actions are driving people away, and others are overreacting to every minor issue, we have to recognise that change is necessary, either in attitude or personnel. This goes for ALL of us, not any specific individuals. It is far too easy to blame others, when we are often "guilty" of the same "crimes".... -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
I'm not sure if you understood what I meant about towing the party line: I'm specifically referring to any action taken that I disagree with, I had nothing to do with either the shit that went on in IRC or the actions taken in response to it, nor do I dispute that what went on wasn't an issue. what I *do* find fault with is the way in which it was dealt with and the severity and method of the response. the point I was making was that no matter how much I may disagree with such things, I will never reverse that action on my own but what I *will* do is say how I feel... the culmination of this was a pretty big blowout with Flammable on Skype, nonetheless, I have *not* interefered (and as stated above, would not interfere) in the decisions made as a result of that debacle.
And again, with TKF banning Hype, he had a sound principle for doing it and I agreed with it and I'm sure you recall on IRC what my actual position on the matter was regarding banning him (i.e. that he clearly shouldn't serve out the full ban).
So as far as it goes, the issue that I perceive is that the problem is my verbal disagreement, if you think I'm barking mad then let me know and we can have a little heart to heart on IRC because frankly I think it's far better if things are out in the open, they tend to get resolved much faster -- Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. Just thinking out loud here... but I'm honestly not convinced that Amanda Rivkin is that much less public a figure than John Scherer. John Scherer: ~620 unique Google hits. Amanda Rivkin: ~310 unique Google hits. Rivkin is a professional photojournalist employed by the New York Times. She's been featured in Newsweek. She's been interviewed by numerous media outlets. And isn't a journalist a public figure by the nature of the job? I can say that Ted Koppel gave me a rim job, can't I? So, I'm not sure why it's considered okay to say that Scherer markets his own semen after he threatened to sue us, but not okay to make certain comments about Rivkin after she threatened to sue us. Just food for thought. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 19:46, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
Scherer's image was being used for parody of Scherer, and he didn't have the most solid legal basis. Rivkin? Eh. So, distinction between people who ought to be ridiculed and people who have no business being ridiculed, I guess. Actually, Wikia's lawyers determined we couldn't use Scherer's image, no matter what. He did have a solid legal basis for making us get rid of it. But he didn't have a solid legal basis for stopping us from saying he sells his semen to Tom Cruise. I seriously wonder whether we're not looking at the same situation with Rivkin. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 20:01, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
Also, as to whether someone "deserves to be ridiculed" - well, do I think sexually humilating stories about Rivkin should be posted? No. But do I think an article about her incredible self-importance and incoherent frothing rage at seeing her precious, precious pictures used for Internet foolishness might be appropriate? Hmm. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 20:06, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
Darnit Hype, I'm a Mac, not a lawyer. And you're being quite reasonable here—an article about Rivkin's irrationality, I think, is safely closer to satire than to cyberbullying. But it's evident that I know little of this stuff, so I'll hold my tongue and release it briefly just to say—

Had you honestly heard of her before last week? Because I hadn't. And I had heard of John Scherer. But that is a seperate matter. I'm more concerned that a group of people contacted Ms Rivkin claiming to be acting on behalf of Uncyclopedia, whilst others thought it perfectly acceptable to begin a campaign (no matter how small) of cyberbulling against that individual, linking, no matter how tenuously their actions back to Uncyclopedia. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Mhaille, no, I hadn't heard of her, but I also hadn't heard of John Scherer. She's a minor photojournalist; he's a minor peddler of software. I'm just not sure how we're "cyberbullying" her but not "cyberbullying" John Scherer. Because she's a young woman and he's an old man? Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 20:06, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
Also: I agree that the only people representing Uncyclopedia should be official representatives of Uncyclopedia - but do we have any?? I truly do not understand the power structure around here. Who's qualified to speak for Unc? Mordillo? Sannse? Chronarion alone? Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 20:06, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
Did you see the link to the blog that was posted on your talkpage? -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Yes. And the blog is pretty disgusting, and the link shouldn't be there. But I feel like that link existed because we quickly came to a consensus that we couldn't respond to Rivkin like we did Scherer, and some users felt like they wanted to do something to respond to her pathetic and annoying threats. And I'm not sure that original premise was correct. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 20:18, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
Consensus? A small group of people on the site were probably aware of what went on, and a much smaller group of people were actually involved in the action that was taken. The lady appears to have had a genuine issue and was obviously very concerned. Sometimes, especially when something seems to be unfair, we over-react to the situation. Clearly she did, and very passionately expressed her message, which was met with ridicule, abuse and outright hostility. Welcome to Uncyclopedia. Then individuals decide to take it one step further, setting up a blog and placing repeated references to her name so as to make sure that internet searches one her name come up the blog linked on your talk page. Do you honestly think she deserved that? I'm pretty sure that both you and I have annoyed people on Uncyclopedia, how would you feel if you were treated in this way? -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Honestly, maybe this will make me sound like a prick, but I think she got exactly what she deserved. You can't pop in out of the blue and insult and threaten a group of people without expecting them to retaliate in some way. Rivkin's a photographer; she's gonna have to deal with copyright issues all her life. Maybe this will be a learning experience for her: if you say "Oh, hey, that's my picture and I don't want its copyright diluted; could you please remove it," you get your way; and if you say "YOU HAVE MALAPROPRIATED MY WORK AND I HAVE RETAINED COUNCIL AGINST YOUR AMATEURISH INTERNET FOOLISHNESS AND DEMAND YOU REMOVE MY WORK IMMEDIATELY", you get... responded to. Because, suddenly, you're no longer an innocent victim of bullying - you're a bully who demanded someone's lunch money and got punched in the nose instead. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 21:02, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
That thing Hyperbole said, I agree. She can't honestly expect anyone to be sympathetic to her cause if that's how she's going to go about it from the beginning. tl;dr, she started the bitchfight. Help request: How to make an article in namespace

I am reborn! Tremble in fear. And tell me how I can make an article using the namespace. Please guide me from scratch as I have no idea what a namespace is at all. PS: For the past two hours, I am having trouble accessing the site's pictures. Are you having server issues? Thanks.

Probably not. Also, I'm willing to help you, you know. Making pages in namespace is pretty easy. Type into the addess bar: http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/User:Lakepoint/<Your Article name here> replacing <Your Article name here> with the title of your article to be. It'll ask if you want to make the article, and just follow the link to do so. --Flammable 00:53, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Contest Today

Happymonkey called for a writing contest which will start at 2:00 UTC (10 p.m. eastern time in the United States and other weird countries). Contestents will give each other an exact name of an article at app. 9:59 eastern time, and then we will write until 11:15 (3:15 UTC). We need at least one judge who will look at all the articles, say nay, or yay, or something, and tell us whatever they want to. Please sign up on Happymonkeys talk page, as participant or judge(s), and then we can pair people up around 9:30 eastern and let them know who they will give their page title to. (Inspired by Ape's contest of a month or so ago, and Ape will probably be watching from somewhere up in a branch). Aleister

Asshattery vs respect

Yeah, there's been lots of asshattery. I have done my best to be restrained, but I've been irritated to the point where I have begun to defend my position here. Oli and I had a long talk last night on IRC. TKF is on my shit list until he stops being an instigator. Ape is rude, baits others and told me not to let the door hit me in the ass on the way out. EMC has even registerd a blip on my radar. Oli seemed puzzled by it all.

I was sensitive to his remark about UnNews being an "oligarchy", real or perceived". I took it as condemnation of my past work, not to mention the other users who've been great UnNews contributors. If people don't wise up soon, there will be new votes and forum topics begun by me. Not my first choice.

As an admin, I've tried to be a minimal meddler, avoiding banning and other horrors against users for the most part. If I start wielding the banstick around and start being firm with rude people, perhaps I will garner minimal respect due an admin.

To some of us UnNews regulars, this whole reskin and rebuild from the ground up thing just appeared one day, a foregone conclusion with voting, in the minds of some, simply a formality. From the start, nobody said much to me, not a peep on my talk page save for quick notes from Mordillo. I knew something was in the wind, but haven't been well enough to cover everything I'd like to for Uncyc since May. My reaction was, I felt irrelevent, like what I've done here is essentially worthless.

My irritation began last July 18, with TKF trying to dispense with the Goldstein award on the forum, for no good reason. Thankfully it was voted down, but it got a surprising number of votes to shut it down. He likes to snipe at SPIKES work for reasons that satisfy him.

I don't know what his problem is, but he seems to enjoy politics, and fucking with Spike and I for his own amusement. I'm done with it. Sorry to sound so gruff, but mate to mate, that's how I feel.

Thanks for listening Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. Zim_ulator (Talk) I am the dirt under your rollers 14:33, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

I think its very sad that people are reduced to feeling this way. Although I can understand that some people may feel that individuals have assumed "roles" within the site I too was annoyed at the terms used. Annoying and aliening regular contributors should be treated with the contempt it deserves, likewise people too concerned with polishing their own egos pushing changes supposedly for the benefit of the community but that ultimately cause considerably more damage. This is something we ALL need to watch out for, it isn't aimed at anyone in particular. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

I know you're processing all this. What you said is basically nothing. I still feel that TFK will continue to fuck with me and Spike until stopped, and am going to call him on it in a forum soon unless you and others with cooler heads can come up with a better solution. I will not accept that I have been in the wrong, aside from a few bitchy remarks. If nobody wants to mention names and state obvious violations of good faith, the light of day will never fall on this bullshit, and things will continue to go downhill for Spike and I. His latest way to irritate us was to spontaneously call a closed vote for UnNews formatting, and is intent on making all articles conform to his standard. Oh, and he said Spikes UnNews article, UnNews:Local firebug trips himself up is too short, in his opinion. So he ICUd it. Spike and I disagreed , but he's determined to have a revert war. He answers none of my accusations against him, dodging responsibility at every turn. I would appreciate any help from you in straightening this mess out. I am not asking you to "take sides"; I am asking you to objectively look as what's transpired and call people on it. Otherwise, I am a lone voice, sounding like I'm whining. Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. Zim_ulator (Talk) I am the dirt under your rollers 23:20, August 31, 2010 (UTC)

I'm going to tell you again, but you need to please please please stop taking this so personally. I don't have anything against you two. I explained my reasoning about the ICU. If you want you can take it off again and I won't argue with you but I still feel objectively that the article could be better.
I do not appreciate you putting all these words in my mouth, either. I admit that I nominated Goldstein in that forum thing for pretty arbitrary reasons, but it was meant as a shock move to reinvigorate interest in the often-overlooked awards of Uncyclopedia. Yes, it was a bit of a "troll," but I swear my intentions were only good. I do love Uncyclopedia and I want to see that the best that can be done is done for this site, and when things start to stagnate action needs to be taken.
But nothing I've done, except in a few offhand messages when I started to lose my head, has EVER been intended on purposefully "irritating" you and SPIKE. Please don't corrupt my actions with ulterior motives that don't exist. I'm really sorry if you feel threatened by the style vote on the forum, but I gave it 3 days and (from what I percieved), it received pretty strong community consensus. Again, a completely objective issue. --Littleboyonly.jpg TKFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFCK Oldmanonly.jpg 23:36, August 31, 2010 (UTC)
I guess I am not very clear. The words put into your mouth reflect the way I interpreted your behavior. You never wanted to discuss this before, and I could think of no sensible alternatives for why you were trolling. It would have been nice if you acknowledged your motivations for the Goldstein vote before today. I asked you about it directly, more than once, and you ignored me. What was I supposed to make of that? You go and revert the ICU thing with simply a reiteration of a flimsy reason; the "new formatting rules" according to your cynical close of the voting. What's happened has been a long chain of events which distracted me from my work here, made people cranky.
In my perception, you were a newly-returned admin intent on stirring things up at UnNews. If I did the same, out of courtesy, I would communicate with staff who've been doing the work, not just go my own way unilaterally changing this and that. You just started doing shit and not accounting for anything to anybody at UnNews. This has caused a rift at UnNews. Good intentions or not, here we are now. I'd like to see it repaired, so that we can all get back to doing what we're here for. Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. Zim_ulator (Talk) I am the dirt under your rollers 00:13, September 1, 2010 (UTC)
As for "communicating with staff who've been doing the work," the changes were proposed on a public forum which I'm certain you've seen, since you've made comments further down on the page. Since I saw that these comments were made but you didn't have any input in the form of a vote (not relating to bolding, at least), so I assumed you just didn't have much to say on the issue. Three days had passed since the vote was open and the only opposition was Spike (who has done nothing but assume bad faith throughout this whole ordeal) so I thought it reasonable to implement the changes. So that's my perspective on that.
I distinctly remember explaining my motivation for the Goldstein forum in IRC one day while you were there, but I'm not positive if I told you directly or in private. That's my mistake. It really is too bad that the situation's gotten this bad and I'm sorry that we're at this point right now. I have no intention on getting purposefully or aggressively getting in the way of your business or "creating a rift at UnNews." The way I perceive things, these current events have only brought the "Regular UnNews team" more closely together than before: you all hate me! Hopefully this can change in the future but I suppose there's no much I can do about that. It takes a lot to fix an internet hatred and quite simply the best way to do it is just by staying out of each other's ways for a while.
That said, in the effort to not step on any more toes, and with all due respect, I'd also like to see to it that the new measures regarding bolding are implemented. Like I said, they're very minor and the community seems to agree that the old method won't much be missed. --Littleboyonly.jpg TKFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFCK Oldmanonly.jpg 01:16, September 1, 2010 (UTC)
Not to use Mhaille's talk page as a forum, but we really, really, really shouldn't have "departments" at Uncyclopedia. If we start saying that certain editors are "in charge" of certain things, this latest flame war is just a tiny preview of things to come. With very few exceptions (like poopsmiths, who need a bit of training lest they screw things up), everyone should be participating equally in anything they care to participate in. Tinymasaru.gifpillow talk 02:22, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

Guys, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. Also having onions, cheese, chicken or ham. Oh and a frying pan. Anyhoo, what I'm trying to say is that there are too many people here who, despite their best intentions, are bound to end up having differences of opinion as to how things should work. "Communication" isn't posting a forum page after working on something that is going to effect a whole group of people, its involving others in the process at a far earlier stage. UnNews has its own discussion pages where those who have gravitated towards that area of the website have worked together to work out issues relating to that section of the site. Executive decisions are made all over the site on a daily basis, but usually some sort of consultation occurs which involves dealing with those who maintain certain duties. This is NOT the same as saying that someone is "in charge" on any specific "departments", because that just isn't the case.
Just for a second consider the amount of work that you have done on the site over the last few years, your featured articles, all those little things that make you return day in day out to the pitface of Uncyclopedia. Now imagine that a group of people decide that improvements need to be made, announce in the Forum that a consensus has been reached and all your articles have to be rewritten. Don't worry, its for the best. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
UnNews Newsroom has basically died right now as it seemed pointless to talk about things there as the changes others want has been all over at the Dump for the past month. As writing an UnNews story is, in my view, a bit different than working on the general piece articles, I thought it would be a good place to talk about UnNews related issues. Perhaps the UnNews newsroom will be on Skype in future which is going to be tough on those who don't want to use that service or prefer to just write to people instead of having to see (or hear) them as well. --Laurels.gifRomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 09:21, September 1, 2010 (UTC)
I was actually going to cede the point you made about people being the de facto heads of their "departments" simply because they do the most for Uncyclopedia. Of course these people deserve the most respect and would be the most knowledgeable about issues pertaining to their areas, but it doesn't necessitate that they should be the be-all-end-all opinion on all matters. If everyone wore their status on their sleeves then we'd all have to ask MadMax for permission to create a category, or let Romartus arbitrate all VFH nominations. Please notice that this analogy is only just as absurd as your own.
Yeah, it's not the same ballpark, and it's not even the same fucking sport, but in the end I agree with Romartus. When the specialized areas of communication start to go unnoticed, that's why we have the Village Dump for big decisions. It lets in the opinions of people who are, uh, I suppose more ignorant because they don't write 5 UnNews a week, but it still allows equal ground for anyone who's more, uh, experienced with the issue at hand.
Wait, I actually forgot what this argument was about. --Littleboyonly.jpg TKFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFCK Oldmanonly.jpg 09:45, September 1, 2010 (UTC)
Actually a closer analogy would be in redoing or even reverting all the work that MadMax has done in categorising, rather than just creating a category. If I was suggesting that you need to speak to Zim before adding an UnNews article that would have been a similar ballpark. But, as I've said this isn't about individuals.
No one has stated that anyone should be the be all end all opinion on anything, the point I'm trying to make is that communication should have occurred long before it did. As I've said people make executive decisions all over the site, and that will always happen, Zim and the others who have worked together for a long time on a specific area of the site appear to have had a history of communicating changes and improvements over a prolonged time, actively involving many members of the community. Of course there is always the danger of forming cliques on the website, but from the outside this could be viewed as one clique replacing another one, whilst alienating and driving away the very individuals who have worked hardest in maintaining the site. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
I already admitted mistakes were made and I'll do it again. There's nothing we can do at this point to prevent cliques because at this point it seems most of us are so deeply entrenched that they'd consider a measure to remove the bolding in news articles to be a complete and utter neutralization of their life's work. As for the UnNews main page matter, I have no stake in that, though it seems to be healthily discussed right now between Zim, Olipro and everyone else. I still don't really see the full extent of the failure to communicate in my case, though. The bolding issue was brought up and discussed for a few days by Hyperbole, Spike et al before I began the vote, and it was still up for discussion 3 days after I closed it. The only thing is, apart from Spike (his reasosns, as said before, being only tangentially related), the issue had very little opposition. Zim had ample time to weigh in on the matter, and when he did, he didn't address the bolding, which was the only issue on which action was taken.
If I'm missing the point tell me now. In any case, I'm getting very tired and feel like we're all just going around in circles. To go around in one last circle: mistakes were apparently made, I'm sorry, things will change etc etc. --Littleboyonly.jpg TKFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFUJewriken.GIFCK Oldmanonly.jpg 22:52, September 1, 2010 (UTC)

It seems that we all understand what's happened, and we're all reading the same book, if not the same page now. I will try harder to keep up with things in general, but I can't be sure how things will go for me in terms of my health. I haven't made it a point to broadcast my situation. I think that's because I've got too many people concerned already, and I didn't want to bring it into the community. Hopefully, things have plateaued and will improve, and I'll at least be able to do my daily UnNews chores. Zimbuddha.jpg Rev. I put a ((noediting)) on Angus_Young by mistake... well, when i say mistake... I mean more like... "hmmmm, I wonder what this one does?... aghhhhhhh fuck! So thats what that does!". Can you remove that thing from the article so it can be edited by mere mortals once more. --ManiacJaSg.gif-Maniac1075Complain Here 04:10, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Pwnerator's Vote

The striking of Pwnerator's vote had nothing to do with the direction of the vote and it was simply on the basis of the comment. I made it explicitly clear to Teh pwnerator that should he genuinely wish to vote against he was completely free to do so on the proviso he didn't do so with the sort of comment made previously. Subsequent to that we then had a chat on IRC and he himself stated that he did not consider it an actual vote, so I challenged him on why he made it an actual vote and essentially said he didn't mean it that way and we therefore agreed the best way forward was for him to simply not post things that are not relevant and likely to irritate. I'm not going to (and haven't) reverted you, instead I shall ask teh pwnerator to do it himself. In any case, based on the evidence presented, I hope you can understand my true rationale for striking it -- Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. Not really interested in anyone's reason for doing anything, but thanks for the breakdown. :)
As I've said before I'd sooner see people, and this includes all users on the site, acting in a fair manner but also demonstrating that we are acting in a fair manner. Regardless of apparent asshattery the vote should have stayed where it was. By all means ban the individual for drama-mongering, but that shouldn't invalidate his choice. Asking Mr Pwnerator to change his vote (regardless of any IRC conversations you may have had) does look suspiciously like pushing an agenda you actively support (irrespective our your intent) which is going to result in people pointing to unfairness, and the resulting drama et al. I would say, and have said this to others, that if you can't take an unbiased view on an issue don't involve yourself, or ask someone else to deal with it. There are enough admins on the site who could have slapped a ban on the individual.
Please feel free to tell me to fuck off and mind my own business.... :) -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

Oli was telling me that he enjoys the penis, and has a photo of you in his wallet. I'm not reading anything into it. Just saying. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
"Asking mr Pwnerator to change his vote" Are you suggesting I asked pwnerator to change his vote? Oh how far from the truth ye are. I asked him to either strike his vote or change his comment on his vote, I did not ask him to change the direction of his vote, nor did I anticipate it. he did that of his own accord on the basis that he did actually quite like it. Frankly, if anyone has a genuine interest in the truth, they can get it from the man himself; no need to take my word for it. -- Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur. (Harass) 16:33, September 6, 2010 (UTC)
I was quoting your comment about you asking him to change it, rather than you reverting the change. But you see my point of people taking matters out of context? This is the point I was making about not just being fair, but being seen to be fair, the two are often not the same thing. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
And this is exactly about being seen to be fair; regardless of my position on the new Main Page, I would act in exactly the same way were I completely uninvolved; the bottom line is that the vote in and of itself was not reflective of any valid opinion, it was a troll plain and simple, hence why I struck it and made it explicitly clear that he is completely free to vote as he wishes so long as it's not outright trolling, anyone observing on either side of the fence can clearly see there was no question as to whether or not he was entitled to vote how he wished, the thing considered "unfair" was the trolling. -- Prof. Olipro Icons-flag-gb.png KUN (W)Anchor Op Bur.
