Thanks for the vote of confidence on my editing skills. However, I think the vote against it has sailed in it's current form. Maybe it's better to move it to my userspace (User:Happytimes/VFD/) until I can get a chance to work on it? I'd hate to put time into it just to see it disappear. Many of us would have to do additional research. Maybe the real difference is that I don't care about yet another rapper, and you seem to. I am not an Admin, and neither will make the final decision on the vote nor can move the page to your userspace. If you are really enthused, cut the source and paste it into a new page in your userspace, because once in the last month the Admins didn't notice such a request in the VFD vote. Browsers and Laetrile

It turns out that your "obsolete" browser, Mozilla 3.0.17, is newer than mine. When I wiped this disk, 3.0.8 was the newest big thing, and I put it on all my XP machines for consistency and have seen no persuasive reason to grab the latest rev. (A Fun Fact at the bottom of my user page advises that I am a Late Adopter.) At any rate, the code snippet I pasted into the Forum should work for you and enable you to experiment with the appearance of quotes. (Just substitute for Spik2009, because you don't have that font.)

Now why does DOS tell you that Ctrl-Alt-Del might work for you? It is a Laetrile suggestion. Laetrile doesn't work either, but when your doctor's only advice is, "Take it easy and work on your will," Grandpa takes a ride to Juarez. Indeed DOS is telling you that staying where you are means the screen won't ever change, but Ctrl-Alt-Del might at least get you to the PC's Setup Menu. And in the rare case where the HDD failure was intermittent or heat-related, you might actually win by trying again something that failed, though Einstein called that a definition of insanity. In practice I often comment, to the machine in question, that if the operating system indeed can't be found then there is really no reason not to drag it out into the desert and see how many pieces larger than a quarter are left after shooting it repeatedly with a small caliber handgun. (9 times out of 10 it boots right up.)

As long as the humour in it keeps it alive. Monitor and Street Fighter are two examples of my longer articles. But I have a tendency to trim things down usually rather than expand them - these two are exceptions as they use repetition and escalation to make the overall joke. UnDebate: Is it ever right to restrict freedom of speech? was in danger of being too long in it's first draft, and I had to trim it down substantially in order to get it to zing just right. Pup

I did a baaad thing

Ordinarily, removing someone's comment from a discussion page is an absolute no no. However, I just did it because this was a very rare exception. You wisely posted a link from Uncyclopedia talk:Imperial Colonization to User talk:Why do I need to provide this?/Imperial Colonization so people wouldn't miss parts of the discussions. But I realized having two discussion pages for the same thing was confusing, so I cut and pasted the discussion from my talk page to the IC talk page. All U.F.B.I. Officers

The U.F.B.I. is now officialy starting operations as of right now. We have more operations as well, which includes helping users on pee review by showing them to the upcoming Pee Review 101, which will been this week. Toasty Bacon has not made any contrbuations since January the 6 2010, so he can be considered unattendtive, so we have only two members, but I will be recruiting more members to help us out. Operarations are still coming and we're still growing, but our great department will make a difference in Uncyclopedia. I imagine it was unintentional, but when you posted comments on User:Why do I need to provide this?/IC Batman Begins you were changing a template. This means that your comments appeared on every IC colonizer's talk page, which rather screwed up the message. The reason I did this as a template was so that if I found I'd made an error after I'd posted it, I didn't have to go back and change it on 40 or so users' talk pages, I could just change the template. Your work on IC Creationism...

is greatly appreciated. However, I need to point out a few things.

1. This is a minor point, but "body hair & tails" I don't thinks works as well as "body hair and tails"--the idea is this is a "serious" article, and "and" is more serious than "&".
2. This is a more major point: the quotes are all intended to be accurate and from the King James Version of the Bible. Twice now I've removed the "of the ground" part as it's not in Genesis 1:26. If we were now in 1610 and finishing up the Authorized Version (commonly called the King James Version which came out in 1611), or better yet were the ones who wrote the version they were translating, I might agree with your edit. But we aren't and therefore I don't.
3. This is a major point: I'm not saying I'm more qualified to do colonizations than anyone else--there's several people who've done many more than me, and have much more experience. But as long as I'm the Big Cheese of IC, I don't want anyone changing the official number of the colonized version but yours truly. Also click on the link that you put as the current version of the article and see where it goes. The next edit of an article seldom is one number higher than the previous edit.

Ouch! Ok, here is my response.

1. There are two and's in a row; "...somehow lost their body hair and tails and put on clothes...."; and I often replace one of them with an "&" to pair them up because I think it flows better. Here I put "body hair & tails" together to separate it from "and put on clothes" for clarity. (Sometimes I re-write it and separate it by commas or rearrange it altogether.) This is a stylistic choice that some people love and others dislike. For me my brain halts for a bit to resolve the grouping/pairing of the double anded words. (This, also happens, to me, when there are, excessive commas, in a sentence.)
   Also, I don't see how using an ampersand makes anything seem less professional when used in moderation.
2. I see your point, it's so important that we keep things entirely factual and not one bit made up. Sarcasm is straight out too! We are the arbiters of knowledge after all!!! --- Seriously, I suspected it might have been a direct quote but I don't think anyone cares... unless someone did an internet search for that direct quote maybe? driving people to Unpsych would be a good reason for that I suppose; Hmmmm.... Anyway, I though at that point of the story we were trying to underline the 'authors' decline in to rambling proof, and I thought that adding the parallel cattle/ground to the birds/air, fishes/sea would be funny. (I still do.) -- Don't worry though, when I go back in my time machine next week to 1610 I'll fix it and we will never have this argument.
3. As the Big Cheese of IC you think you're so right don't you? Well, when you're right, you're right. My bad. I really didn't know I was fucking things up so bad & actually thought I was being helpful. Sorry. (I'm still a complete noob when it comes to things I haven't bothered to figure out yet.)

Yeah, we worked together and stuff which was cool. I think it's a great article, and I'm very pleased with it.

But while I'm here, one other thing. Whatever happened (or whoever did it--for all I know I screwed something up when I was trying to fix it, so I'm not blaming you or anyone) in connecting Uncyclopedia talk:Imperial Colonization/Creationism‎ to Talk:Creationism created a template loop--that's a bad thing. I don't even move talk pages onto existing talk pages; it takes powers reserved to admins to do without screwing up. Fortunately, I think I patched it together enough that it will keep us all out of trouble. Monkeys

Great additions! I took out a few duplicates, the red links, and some that didn't fit (almost all of the categories fit closely with the page, it's interesting how maybe more fit this one than almost any other on Uncy), and put the last three categories back down at the end, a good place for them to live (I try to make categories form sentences or phrases). Upsilon Sigma Sigma March Newsletter

March's collaboration on Nintendo, our first as a group went really well. You can drift on over to check it out in mainspace. Now onto frat business and stuff. First of all, we need to determine as a group a few things in terms of our monthly collaboration; will it really be a 'monthly' collab, or should we not stick to such a rigid timeframe? Secondly, we need to figure out how we're going to determine future collab projects. Currently we're voting on April's project, but we need to decide if we're going to vote at the end of each month for the following month's project, or if we're going to adopt a rolling queue like IC currently has. I'm leaning more towards the rolling queue idea, but I'd like to get a consensus on the subject. In order to vote on this, go here. I would like to take the time to point out that we are not IC; in fact we're kind of the opposite, whereas they take crap and turn it into slightly better crap, we create the crap that people want the most. Along these lines, any member of the frat is encouraged to contribute to each months collab, not matter how big or small. There aren't really any rules in terms of how we tackle these collabs, so the structure will kind of just spring up.

Ok, the second part of the frat of course is the individual creation of pages from the requested articles list. None of us, myself included, have called dibs on, started, or created any of these pages. I want to stress that this is just as an important part of our group as the monthly collaboration. I hope to make an individual article of my own in April from the list, and I encourage all of you to do the same.

Third, the lesser third pillar of our group, pee reviewing. I would just encourage you guys if you feel like it to go ahead and do an in-depth pee review or two in April.

Well, I think the start of Upsilon Sigma Sigma has gone rather well considering most groups don't get off the ground too well here, and it's all thanks to Aleister in Chains and Pelargonium, who both contributed to Nintendo. Without them, I feel the group wouldn't have gone very far, so please pop over to Frat Bro of the Month at some point and give them a shout out. Also, please feel free to browse the various sections of the group (I spent a bunch of time creating the frat page), and be sure to check the news tab from time to time, I'll be updating that regularly. UFFL 2010 Kickoff

The draft is over, the NFL regular season begins Thursday September 9th, and everyone is geared up and ready to play some fantasy football(!).

This season promises to thrill and intrigue, and as the Uncyclopedia Fantasy Football League has grown from just eight all the way to 14 teams, each one vying for a shot at the championship, except maybe Neox's team. With all this excitement, however, comes questions. Will Rush and Kick FTW, the UFFL's first team based in Britain, be able to compete with the league's American teams? Will Cheddar's rebuilt Doritorians be able to play at the same high level as last year now that their roster is down from 50% Eagles players to just 30%? Will evil Nazi overlord and reigning league Champion Guildensternenstein be able to defend his league championship now that Top-3 players at the quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end positions didn't fall into his lap this year? Only brutal, primal, visceral, cerebral combat on the fields of Yahoo!'s fantasy football league servers can determine these questions.

That all being said, everyone should take note of two things:

A couple good things to know, when editing it may be best to edit sections and not the whole thing at once, that way not too many edit conflicts. And be kind to my good stuff, be kind, neighbor as thyself and all that, be kind. Now, dinosaurs is a great page to play on, I'm amazed that we aren't all going to town on it and then put a couple people in a position to go over the article and heal it. Then we have an article with two pee reviews which none of us have actually worked on in a long time, Science Fiction, maybe you can take a look at that one. Ideas. Be kind. Aleister 00:23 15 10

I haven't heard from either of the two judges so I'm trying to get a consensus from the last participants on what to do. I see three options.

1. Wait for the two last judges to score the categories.
2. Judge the entries as is without the third judge.
3. Enlist two new judges as replacements.

Upsilon Sigma Sigma October Newsletter

Ok guys, my bad. I was gone for a long time there. I found some free time recently so I'm hoping to get Upsilon Sigma Sigma started up again along with my other project, UnReviews.

At any rate, We're going to keep Weird, the August collaboration open. We're also going to go ahead and open up a November collaboration. The article on the queue that has the most votes is "Blockbuster" so that's the one we're going to do. You can find the collaboration page here. I'm probably going to disappear again because of school in a few weeks, so hopefully we can build up enough momentum here to keep our collaborations going. If you haven't noticed our previous collaborations have been huge hits, all have been featured on the front page. Hopefully "Weird" and "Blockbuster" will too in their own due time.

Dinosaur

Those guys up there are trying to take some good players. You should take their best guys, break the legs of their other guys, and then steal their cheerleaders! Hi, it looks like only you and I have colonized Dinosaur, so it has a way to go yet. I moved the pic back to the right, unless you really love the left (people here seem to like their pics on the right, biased bastards), and did some edits to the lead, including putting that last couple paragraphs in its own section because some of the information is repeated from the opening paragraphs. Sound okay? Maybe I can put in some quality time this weekend on the page, I have to focus on it to do what it deserves. You know, I actually feel privilaged to be working on this, because like all kids, I loved Dinosaurs as a youngster and am so happy that birds are dinosaurs and I get to see them every day. Science fiction IC Credit

This is posted on the user pages for PuppyOnTheRadio, who was head of IC during this colonization and thus has the actual say, and for Happytimes and Why do I need to provide this? because they respectively preceded and followed Puppy. I think that means Why? fed Puppy while Happy cleaned up after him.

I don't think anyone's the head of IC right now, and technically whoever was the head while SF was being rewritten should decide who gets 1/2 feature credit for the article. Note that it was decided that not everyone who added a line or two would get this, but that everyone who made a legitimate contribution to the article, however small, would get IC credit on the Big Board. Personally, I think IC members who did a lot of work on this after it was moved to mainspace deserve a lot of credit (Pee Reviews by both HELPME and Why? didn't find it at all ready before then).

In addition to the obvious (writing a lot of good stuff on the article), don't forget the following: creating a detailed concept and outline for a previously-featured article gave someone a well-deserved 1/2 feature credit even though that person technically did little actual writing on the article. I would mention that doing a Pee Review and setting up a gallery for an article are part of the work too, but I won't. (Seriously, in my opinion these would not qualify for 1/2 feature credit but could add to what a person who did significantly more than that when figuring if they deserved feature credit).

Also there's that featured article thanks for voting thing I'm really not all that enthused about but it does seem to be tradition here. Puppy I think should have first shot at it, but if he doesn't want to do and no one else does, Why? could. User:Why do I need to provide this?/sig10 02:40, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

Tree project and such

Currently, it's a huge mess. Like.. when comparing to your copies, and my tree's history, there's been a reoccurring trend of misspellings causing adoptive kids to migrate accidentally from parent to parent (which does occasionally occur on uncyc, but that's another topic). Right now, it's me, and to some degree Zana Dark who've been at least remotely aware of what the hell we're up to, but we need to tidy things up, remind Sonje to get back to the family tree logo thingymahoo stuff, and if you're interested, you could get a trowel, and see if you like sorting out the tree, too... However, due to my more "high core" computer equipment being located in Seattle, and me in Yurop, the tree editing will have to wait on my end. TAW 2011

Hey Happytimes. I'm getting this year's contest together and thought I'd check in with former participants to get some feedback on a few changes I've made.

1. I reorganized UN:REQ this month, basing it on Wikipedia's version, because the page has been very slow to upload for users with slower computers (myself included). Do you think its easier to use now?
2. I've limited the categories from five to three (UN:REQ, UN:VITAL and Wanted Pages). This will limit the number of judges and, in theory, encourage more participants.
3. I've added several optional categories. Judges won't be needed since the prize is awarded to editors for completing the "challenge". Do you think its worth adding these extra categories?

I don't know what your plans are for the fall but it'd be cool to see a few "returning champions" come back for this year's competition (if only as judges). MadMax 23:26, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

1) Very clean-looking and with the sub-sections 'ported in I can see how it would load a great deal quicker than before. (I'd put the "This list is made by people...." back at the top & move the Wikipedia box to the top section.)

2) Sound reasoning. (The kind of sound that drives french teachers crazy!) More participants are a great thing.

3) Yes I do! However, you may want to have some sort of judging to insure writers adhere to a minimum standard.
