Mike Tyson Redux
Romy, man, I think your going to like how much your words changed the article. I certainly didn't waste your good advice. Please take another look, make any changes you like, and join Aleister and I on this Collaboration. In my own advice booklet HTBAFANJACF I say that deleting is just as important as adding. And you just proved it. Thanks and much appreciated. Cheers!--Funnybony 20:38, Dec 3

Plus, I loved Whigs. Are there lots of Romartus articles like this that I should be looking out for? --Sog1970 22:56, December 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Soggy. No one messes with your pages! Thanks also for the vote on the Whigs article and your suggestion about dropping the list. I have improved an older article I wrote awhile back Herod the Great. Let me know what you think of it or anything you may want to add (be my guest). This being Christmas etc, Herod was the original Biblical Scrooge (though without Christian redemption). --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:07, December 4, 2010 (UTC)
- What little I know about Herod I think I picked up on the Discovery Channel. Nevertheless, I'm off to read it now. --Sog1970 21:16, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

- Are there any more? Romartus has a stack of amazing work just lying around, which he edits for a year or two. I finally got around to seeing the changes at Mike Tyson, and I put back some of my faves that were gone (and put the baby pic back where it was originally when M&M dropped it off, I have a real good feeling that that is the perfect place for it). With the listy things gone and reworked, and all of our favorites sitting around on the page, it has turned into something Mike Tyson would be proud to show his parents (if he hadn't done them in in the first round). Thanks for all the edits! Aleister 00:55 5 12
- Well,I liked it! Fancy a nom? I think, perhaps, it requires more knowledge of ancient history than is common round here (I didn't remember the whole story, and I like that sort of thing) but what the hell. I bimbled with the commas, but I went to school in the 70s when commas were optional because they stifled creativity. Consequently, I just put them in where they look right. If you don't like, you know what to do. If you want something to look at, I just finished Male Adolescence, which is far less scholarly. --Sog1970 22:02, December 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Ok Soggy, let's give it a go. It isn't so much the subject but the length that might be the problem but thanks for all the changes and going through it for me. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 22:09, December 5, 2010 (UTC)

Thanksized
Thanks for fixing the obvious spelling errors on Never on Sunday, sometimes I read something several times and go right past a missing letter. Interesting how the brain sees/creates things. Quick explanations. The Frighten small children page is all about the guy seeming like a murderer or rapist or something, and then all he does is show them pictures of swarms. I'm laughing as I type this. Differenct humors for different people. And the Virgin Mary and her wayward son, the page is just a stretch of the mother/whore meme personified by Mary in this case, as well as the mystical thought that even in the mundane act of whoring herself holy things still happen and surround her, and those Forest Gump-style circumstances create waves through time. Thats as close as I can come to explaining both in short, and maybe I should add something about the virgin/whore meme in there. Is there anything else you'd suggest to bring it into the realm of the magnificent? (Kip prayed over it, or over his vote, one of the two. Yikes.) Aleister 18:35 6 12
- Thanks for coming back to me. Perhaps it is in the end a matter of taste. Some of your work reminds me of Tristram Shandy with a narrator going off in right angles to a story and then heading off somewhere. When it works - like in that book - it comes out brilliant but if it doesn't, a reader will be left more puzzled than amused. That is how I felt after going through Never on Sunday...--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:45, December 6, 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, I will read the Shandy page next log on, things call me and I've ignored the things, but they are persistent and have things to do thingselves. I'll play with Sunday later, everytime I play with it it either improves or at least more tunnels are created. When Lyth forced me to add to the Game of Tag section suddenly a metaphor for the Israli-Palas-however-it's-spelled conflict came to mind, but then again maybe even that can be put more accurately with a few words. Land occupation should enter into it in some brief symbolism. Maybe something will come as I wander. Thanks for the link. Aleister 18:52 6 12
- p.s. quick question. Did you catch the pop-up links on Sunday? I love two of those enough to marry them, the one in the caption and the angry one.

Instead of doing something productive...
I have come to demonstrate what a terrible mistake you made voting for me for UotM last month. Really, I do not understand what you possibly could have been thinking, but what is done is done, and now I suppose I should be gracious and attempt to thank you, or something. As I do not know how to be gracious, however, I will instead give you a carefully chosen line of Madness, for you to keep as your very own:

Festivus
(I put this in after an edit conflict above and forgot to save it from preview!) Hi. Thanks for all the fish on Festivus. You put in some good links and info. Will tweek a little, as some of the page is a mirror of some of the lines in the first Fadda Murphy story. He's not, in my strange universe, specifically form the Bronx, could be from any semi-tuff and moronic neighborhood, and he now resides in Vatican City where he pretty much runs the place (I'll work on a page very soon where he is elected Pope after Benedict dies, and keep the page in reserve. The third of a trilogy. I'm going to ask the gang at 'tatochop if they could make his clothes in the opening pic into papal clothes without changing the background.) So the line "Get a life" is a stand alone from the first page, showing that Fadda Murphy, then and now, has such a low opinion of nuns that he sees their lifes-calling as banal and wasted. The flying dutchman link, you know I've never read the wikipedia page and will do so, it would be fun. Will link the first word, "flying", with a marijuana page, as the "get my drift" refers to the flying on grass. Thanks for playing on the page, and correcting some of my more stupid real spelling errors, a problem I never seem to avoid. Alietser 9:09 15 12
- Another one I switched was "da Sistine", just left it at that as Murphy is talking to O'Malley there, and is using the "inside the Vatican" shorthand for the Sistine Chapel. That's how my mental landscape works when writing these things, even though a reader or two may get lost on the way the language stays on a path to somewheres. I love the Raff line, and that's another wiki page I've never read. Never a big fan of some of the middle-age painters, they seemed so restrained in their subject matter and shapes, but it's all in pushing the envelopes of talent, paint texture, what's allowed from the hired painters of the relgious and political elite, etc. I'm just gabbing away here. Thanks again. Al 9:29 15 12
- p.s. Tweeked the raff line a little, howdayalikeit?
- Ah..no probs with the reversions. I see my links are broadening your horizons! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 09:52, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

Duran
Romy, somehow I got Sog turned loose on Roberto Duran this nom. Might take a soggy look, all right, mate! And I suppose it's going to get even better still. Dropped the Duran Duran mention that was confusing (although Duran was so famous at the time that the band named themselves after him. Really). Anywaaaay. Cheers!--Funnybony 15:44, Dec 18
- As an article it seems fine to me FB but as a feature? Just seems a tad obscure unless you know about boxing. Jack Dempsey - that's different or Mike Tyson - but had never heard of this guy until I saw this article. I can't vote against it but I can't honestly vote in favour either. I don't think Duran Duran named themselves after this boxer, I understand the reference comes from the film Barbarella where there is a mad scientist called Duranduran. Anyway, I understand why you dropped the reference. I do know there are articles here on American football stars I don't anything about and stories about cricket players which works in the opposite direction. All a bit of conundrum and I haven't worked out how to be consistent here either! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 17:04, December 18, 2010 (UTC)
Proton
I don't like your additions about "newtrons"--"conton" was a useful humor concept but "newtron" seems like mere word association.
But if you're really interested in the subject, there is a Neutron article that is in just as much need of work. Spıke ¬ 22:13 20-Dec-10
- Well it does mention electrons in there too. Perhaps the Newtron joke in the first paragraph can go there after the West Side story and remove the other references. I will have a look at the Neutron as well. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 22:16, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Added a pic and some rework on Neutron as suggested. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 23:20, December 20, 2010 (UTC)
Magnificent! Spıke ¬ 23:38 20-Dec-10 PS--I did a very light copy-edit on it. But please do something about the "nonsense number" in the intro. Spıke ¬ 00:11 21-Dec-10
PPS--Have poked through the other pages referred to by the template at the bottom. If I referred you to them, good things might happen, but you might be lost to UnNews for a long time. So--officially--I'm not. Spıke ¬ 02:28 21-Dec-10
- That's the problem here. You repair one article and then find there is a whole family of them in need of reworking! As long as there is a gleam of a good idea in there, they can be rescued but articles that are randumbo from beginning to end are impossible to do because by their very nature, nothing hangs together. Proton and Neutron were different which is why we could at least get them off the operating table and walking with some confidence in the jungles of Uncyclopedia. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:19, December 21, 2010 (UTC)
I welcome your vote on this. Spıke ¬ 14:23 21-Dec-10
The Art of Whore
Hey Pard! Seasons greetings! When might you complete Psychedelic music? I wrote the following to L and would like to say same to you. The only way to win you over is to implement your suggestions, which make it better. I appreciate your input on Roberto Duran; In fact, the article needed the nom to push it up to become much better. Now I removed all the out-there nonsense, and other objectionable stuff and the result, as of right now, is way better. Uncyclopedia needs more Champions featured. I really feel that you might approve of the article if you saw what it has become after 11 days on VFH. Now its waaaaay better. If you could give any further suggestions I'll jump on them. It's at 7/0 now. Cheers!--Funnybony 18:31, Dec 23
- Sorry not to have got back sooner but got the flu this Christmas. I did have another look at Psychedelic Music. Still seems an article that is trying to cover a lot of ground and the list in the middle could be either cut down or moved as a footnote. Also the intro with John Peel looks a bit isolated from the rest of the text (for example, I doubt many readers would know who John Peel was without an introduction). --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:33, December 27, 2010 (UTC)

Riddle
Just thought I'd mention, with regard to this article: the concept is the various sections are different people attempting to solve the same lame riddle. Each section is relevant to that particular person, and as such is pretty consistent. If you don't agree with the concept, that's fair enough, but I think calling it random suggests you missed the point, which is why I thought I'd explain this. As always, this is not an attempt to get you to change your vote, because I respect your opinions and your right to them, I just wanted to make that point really! Hope you're having a great Christmas Romartus! --UU - natter 10:24, Dec 28

Syria
Thanks for piling on. I copy-edited you and reverted in two places: (1) The previous editors provided a link to an actual WHO document that apparently overstates Syria's population by a factor of one thousand, and this was the joke. (2) One sentence had the single point that "Syrian Arab Republic" is laughably self-evident, and going to the Lego People takes it in a different direction at the end. Cheers! Spıke ¬ 10:56 5-Jan-11
- No probs. The overall tone of the article (except where the writer starts to crack up) wasn't bad but thanks to our repair job, it can go outside and play with the children again. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 11:03, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that section needs work. Writing facts that are utterly the opposite of truth--irony--is tried and true. Having the author burst into laughter because he can't maintain the con job--Well, why here? Why not everywhere? Imagine! It's sort of trite. Spıke ¬ 11:36 5-Jan-11
Mordillo declared the article saved, noting his proximity to the country, and I invited him in for an edit. Separately, whereas most of the article skewers the reality of Syria, Section 5 on Foreign Affairs takes a turn toward fantasy, Middle East = Middle Earth. Sometimes these new hairs look awkward until you manage to weave them into a Rastafarian work of art; not done yet. Spıke ¬ 20:06 5-Jan-11
- I guess you mean the Gollum Heights joke. I am not wedded to it but just threw that in to extend the article. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:15, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
BarBar the Elephant
Edits to Barbarian done as requested - which at least forced me to find out how to insert a footnote. surprisingly straightforward. I may use them again. --Sog1970 13:34, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
- It took me awhile to get the hang of footnotes but it's a great way to add jokes/ideas that would otherwise slow down the main article. Now I can head off to VFH and vote in favour without further 'quibbling'. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 14:24, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
UnNews:Witches hold Romania spellbound in tax revolt
I don't know the web site that your UnNews lists as a source--and don't know that it isn't another comedy web site, from which we are not supposed to be stealing jokes. However, that web site lists a source of its own, MSNBC, from the real media (and I use the term loosely). I've replaced your citation with the link to MSNBC. Please read the source's source and make sure your story ties to the reality and not to someone else's joke. Spıke ¬ 19:10 6-Jan-11
- There is a witch who is making the protest in Romania but couldn't get a decent pic of her so I created this one. The real story is funny anyway so perhaps this spoof isn't that good, though I thought the vampire-banks joke would make a more general point. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 19:17, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

Spike said before that strike through was the system, not deleting. Anyway I don't object, but was just wondering what was the reason as well as the rule. Cheers, cat!--Funnybony 09:59, Jan 9
- I did see that. Yes, normally the writer (Siddhartha-Wolf) should have struck through his comment. I don't want to get another user banned for doing that as the writer has done other good work so it wasn't vandalism or such like. It seems the admins didn't see it either but perhaps I'll drop him a note anyway now. There is no problem about changing your mind here but those comments shouldn't be removed. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 10:39, January 9, 2011 (UTC)
- I had no problem with this one, though Admins might. SW added a nonsense non-vote and, when called out about it, erase the dialogue. But the reason for the strikethrough rule is to prohibit tampering with the transcript, and the fact that I find this case innocuous doesn't prove that it is. Spıke ¬ 00:40 10-Jan-11

- I had to go to wikipedia to learn about this Spike! Never heard of it before, another example where what is the common culture of one country is completely alien to another. Reminds me of a recent Cracked article about two cartoon characters - Dennis the Menace (USA) and Dennis the Menace (UK) by two artists who had no idea the other was publishing a cartoon strip. Very different I might add (the UK one was a scruffy bad boy with an ugly dog). So I don't know if I can add anything to this. That is up to the contributor, I guess, though my opinion was that he would have unprecedented rapport with Ahmedinijad et al. Wikipedia taught me that the dinosaur's name was Dinny, and he has other cohorts with names that might be adaptable as members of the Cabinet. Spıke ¬ 00:40 10-Jan-11
UnNews:Hope fades that Sarah Palin's mouth and brain can be reconnected
Sorry for the edit override during the early-morning UnNews style scrub. I put back the bit about Glenn Beck, saw you had already re-added the categories.
Please keep going. Palin's "blood-libel" quip was another whopper, which beats Napolitano's "on duty 24/7/364," but perhaps briefly explain why, perhaps take it literally and follow it to its implied conclusions, instead of recurring to the usual partisan avenues of ridicule. Spıke ¬ 12:44 14-Jan-11
- I was trying to go beyond the Tuscon killings and Blood-Libel bit to indicate Palin is suffering brain/mouth connection problems in general. Palin parodies always face strong competition from the lady herself, perhaps it really is Tina Fey there and the real Palin has franchised out her name to do something else...--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 13:01, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
Caribou burgers? My article on Napolitano toyed with the implications of her misstatement rather than cast her as a pathetic person. (Actually, I did the latter in the photo caption.) As I often complain: Partisans in America are advancing the theme of Palin (and Napolitano, or "Incompetano") as defective persons in dead seriousness, and UnNewses in the same space ought to be more clever. You can make this more ridiculous than Lady Grizzly herself. Spıke ¬ 13:17 14-Jan-11
- If I had some better Obama jokes, I would do those too since he always seem to me about to break into a Martin Luther King style speech, crossed with the delivery of a 'Mr Cool' Will Smith. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 13:29, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
Conservatives here conceded his Tucson speech was good--some of the crustiest wanted to know the speechwriter so they wouldn't have to credit Obama. However, all had trouble with the rock-star presentation; Obama, Napolitano, and Holder did everything but pick up guitars. Limbaugh kept comparing it to the memorial of Sen. Wellstone's death in Minnesota just before the 2002 election, where Cheney was disinvited and the crowd was led in chants. Spıke ¬ 13:36 14-Jan-11
PS--A guest on Laura Ingraham's morning show has just found a new cause of Loughner's outburst: Heavy metal, and gaming! which to ban first?
One thing you might cover in an UnNews: The invocation at the memorial, given by a (Hopi or Zuni?) shaman, to the four-legged, the two-legged, things that slither on the earth, that live under the earth--apropos of: What does Obama think his faith is? What does he think Americans' is? Spıke ¬ 16:42 14-Jan-11
PPS--I wound up hanging all the above themes off yesterday's UnNews:America warms up to Obama-care. Spıke ¬ 02:16 19-Jan-11

Good elaborations. Only, I didn't like the recourse in several places to the first person; makes it look non-encyclopedic. On "Ariba!"--roll your r's, as I often yell at a confused ballpark P.A. announcer. To you, I mean double them. Spıke ¬ 01:02 18-Jan-11

For the Memphis correction on the cookbook page. I linked it to wikipedia, and look forward to reading the page. I've heard of Memphis (Elvis, right?) but haven't read or seen a history on the city. And when in monkey hell is the History of Great Britain going to emerge? Aleister 00:46 23-1-'11
- Memphis (Egypt) was the original capital of ancient Egypt until replaced by Thebes (Luxor) and then later on, Alexandria - though Memphis did periodically become the capital again. It was only finally eclipsed and replaced by Cairo when the Arabs conquered Egypt in the 7th century A.D. Regards 'the epic', I have been adding bits to it when inspiration has come on that particular subject. I am very aware of its incomplete state but thanks for giving me a friendly 'poke' on the matter! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 00:54, January 23, 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, so Thebes is Luxor. I can use that somewhere. My fondest wish for the New Year is that you put HistoryoGB on pee review, a noob reviewer takes it without looking at it, and then screams and screams when the page is opened. That is my wish. I will go look at it now just to be reminded of what is possible here. Aleister 1:02 23 1-'11
- p.s. Biggest laugh of the week, hawing like a donkey. I scrollllllleed down the page, and continuing schrooling, rested, schrolled again, and then when I got to (lol now) got to the bottom you had four tiny footnotes. I can't stop laughing. Aleister 1:07 please don't ever change that, one of the funniest things on tghe site.

On the kitten article, I've added a new section but not yet any names of kitten recipies per your idea (I thought that names would be better than entire recipies). This could work out very well, and would you have an idea of some historically sounding recipie names or phrases which capture the time period. "Purring Thebean au'grouten". "Mesopotamian sandkitten sandwich", things like that but with a historic message as well. Maybe five or seven really good names could be used, with most of them giving educational links to wikipea pages or our good pages. Thanks. Aleister 14:53 25-1-'11
- I had another look Aleister. It still looks a bit clunky to me. I can see what you want to do with it and there are plenty of good ideas here. I would have perhaps rearranged the running order of the article but now that it looks to be featured, this is a bit academic..(I used that joke earlier somewhere else). One thing has occurred to . The 'Kitten Chief' from Memphis was obviously a rebel who hated cats in a country that worshipped them and had a death penalty for anyone who killed a pussy. So he had to leave and ended up in Mesopotamia to carry on his trade legally. I would have given him a more Egyptian name - for example, Mi-Khiti-Khiti (just to make his pain doubly worse). As regards the recipes, we could either link off to another article to place them there or add in as footnotes. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 16:41, January 25, 2011 (UTC)
- These are all great ideas. Mi-Khiti-Khiti, lol, maybe that can be the woman's name who finds a whisker in her soup. I see Chef as not hating kittens - do chefs hate cows, pigs, and chickens? On one level they surely do, but almost all are just unconscious - he just experimented and discovered that with his seasonings and skill that they were delicious. I like the leaving Egypt thing, can I use these? Not featured yet, some pages linger for 20 days at 8 votes and then are taken away to pasture. And maybe one or two recipe names in the body of the page and the rest, four or five more in quick succession, as a footnote, good idea. I'll go put some of this in now. Thanks. Aleister 20:08 25-1-'11

Thanks! I've added your line about Egypt, although said he can't go back there instead of him being from there. Put the Khiti Khiti name in the footnotes, as that of the woman who finds a whisker in her soup. Some names of recipes included, two in the body of the page, one in footnote attached to it. Do they hit the right historical tone? And as I was working Zana came in and popped in a kitten recipe relating to the soup pic, I changed the composistion of that section (oh, by the way, I wrote and added an entirely new section at the end of the article, right before the recipe). So, some good changes spurned on and assisted by (look in the mirror) you! Thanks again. Aleister 3:39 26-1-'11
- And even more thanks. The thanks flow like water. Not only did you catch 25-97 mispellings (I must be missing some part of my brain, the spelling part has been damaged somewhere) but your edits enhance the sections they appear in. I tweaked the "pussy" stuff a bit, not much, and linked them to appropriate kitten articles, but that's just what I was going for. To use pussy a few times and not make it sexual, a delicate dance around the pussy. Has enough been done to change your vote? I know it will pass VFH but I have a special reason for it to be featured next on the que (if somehow it gets featured next, then pages of mine - thanks to a four day run of "Into the light" - will have been on the two-feature front page template for 11 days in a row! I have nine now, just a fun thing to contemplete), so if you were going to vote "aye" later, any help on that mucho appreciated. Thanks for everything, you are a gentleman and a proven scholar. - Did I mention that you are like an Egyptian God that walks the earth, trailing those long bandage things behind him? Thank you for the vlote! I want to put some historical links on the page, mainly to wikipedia, and the recipe names seem to be one place to do that. I like to educate 'em as they read. Todd Palin (ah, just thought up another goof on the guy) would have appreciated if someone had done that for him. Aleiwster 19:22 26-1-'11

We did it! The page is sitting on the main page right now. Please share feature credit with me, kind sir, as your ideas and writing added a great deal of detail to the page (as well as catching 62 of my typos). I linked some of the place names to their wikipedia articles, not that any reader is actually going to sit down and educate themselves in the historical aspects of "ancient" Egypt and Mesopotamia. Thanks again. Aleister 13:25 28-1-'11

User:Romartus/UnNews:Peter Weir to remake Picnic at Hanging Rock with teddy bears instead
Wikia seems to have a bug in which new UnNewses don't go into the UnNews space. Lyrithya moved it there, and you may not have realized where it has gone. I mercy-moved it, as an UnNews with an Indian head means someone is either developing in the UnNews space or has abandoned it completely. I reverted most of the final paragraph, as the final book title was more realistic and a reasonable next step from the increasing vulgarity of her real ones. Separately, regarding your fourth point on pedantry, isn't that almost exactly what Barry Goldwater told the Republican Nominating Convention regarding liberty?! Spıke ¬ 11:40 5-Feb-11
- That's fine Spike, the article has improved away from the VFD vortex... regards that fourth point, I was unaware that came from Goldwater from 1964! How strange, not a conscious copy I can assure you!! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 11:56, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
Your pedantry quote called to mind: "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!" Goldwater put the charges of being an extremist to rest--by confirming them--and resoundingly lost the 1964 election. Spıke ¬ 12:24 5-Feb-11
You know, your Pedantry bullet point repeats "a good thing" from the first bullet point. I'll remedy this by force-morphing it into the Goldwater quote. Spıke ¬ 18:53 5-Feb-11

- Did you mean scrum or scrotum? Well they amount to the same thing. The other Rugby code - Rugby League doesn't have real scrums but they tackle in a way which always looks like a mugging. They broke away from Rugby Union in 1895 in a dispute about amateurism v professionalism. Rugby Union didn't become a professional game until the 1980s - up until then, all of them had other jobs, a lot of doctors if I recall which was just as well considering how dangerous the game can be.

Rome: Total War Mods
Hey Romartus, have you by any chance played R:TW and its mods (particularly EB and RSII)? Because I'm writing about them and I'd think your affinity for Roman history could be useful (along with the R:TW experience if any) when I seek some feedback about my Europa Barbarorum article. --Romaioktonos 22:40, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Rom (sounds like I am in an echo chamber). I will have to pas on the initials...I haven't got a clue what those are..I am almost as old as the Romans. Regards your article, let me check it over the next day and I'll come back to you. One thing I would suggest is that you use the English versions of names rather than your native Greek translated into English. If you don't know what those are (e.g. I seem to recall Alexander the Great being one of them) then you can ask me. It just avoids another layer where a reader could be confused. If I was writing for a French comedy wiki about London, I would use Londres as an example. Anyway, I will write back by the end of tomorrow! Thanks..--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 22:47, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
- Oh one sec. Total War Mods..is that what those initials refer to? --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 22:49, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah. I thought you'd be one of those who'd be playing Rome Total War and/or its mods. Oh well, gotta find some others who could go through the Europa Barbarorum-specific contents... --Romaioktonos 23:28, February 17, 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Rom2. I did have a look at the article..and then I remembered I had played this game as well(!). Leaving that aside, the article really depends on a reader having particular knowledge of this game to understand your angle. It is the type of article I would expect to see on a website/wiki devoted to Total War rather than here. I know there are quite a few game related articles here (pokemon etc) but I don't think Total War is known that widely outside the gaming community. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:15, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
- That sucks... I made some wrong assumptions then: I saw an Empire: Total War article and believed that the Total War series were popular enough. --Romaioktonos 17:58, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
- It doesn't mean the article can't be good; just know your audience and season it with sufficient real-world explanation to appeal to gamer and non-gamer alike. Then no non-gamer will take it to VFD and complain that "some guy is writing more game-cruft"! Spıke ¬ 18:05 18-Feb-11
- I do have plenty of real-world explanations... the question is, "Would a typical audience member be able to understand it?" For example, the Erythraia reference is to the Hellenic name for the African region that borders the Red Sea bordering the region of Kush. Baktria/Bactria probably be another difficult one to pull off a good joke about... Pelozurian/Paizuri happened to ask for non-college-level Greek stuff... Ooh, and IMO I thought the script/IMF joke was pretty funny in light of the fact that units take so much money to train and maintain. --Romaioktonos 22:44, February 20, 2011 (UTC)
- I would be surprised if anyone would know the Greek name for that particular part of Africa unless they happened to be Greek or classical history scholar. But to return to Total War, the trick is to relate that game to something that has a broader impact with other readers who have never played or have any intention to play it. Can you imagine an earlier non-digital version of the game with Alexander sitting in his tent and playing with toy soldiers instead of fighting the battles for real? Some writers like the 'idiot-narrator' approach where the author of the article makes an absurd complaint or puts in a weird game modifier. Like giving Alexander the Great nuclear weapons to take on the Persians (echoes of today) or the apaches flying Apache Helicopters to attack General Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn..that sort of stuff. These would be some of the ideas I would play with but that is up to you. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 22:28, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

- Hi, Roma... oh. ~ 01:26, 18 February 2011
- I would agree with Spike that introducing an author's voice in the article sort of disrupts it a bit in my view. Cultural impact is fine and what are Positrons are doing now and in the future is also a good line to go with. I was trying to put them across as 'nicer' than electrons and in the spirit of my other minor re-write/re-edit Neutron. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:08, February 18, 2011 (UTC)
- Okay I will work on cleaning it up today, and as for SPIKE's comments- I'll have you know that Hello Kitty is a damn fine company sir, they provide free daycare, work fuloughs and the aforementioned free diaries.-- Sir Claudius CUN VFH (carpe diem) 15:49, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

Dick added
I put in a section on Dick. One of the best s.f. related books I've read is a long series of verbitum interviews with Dick shortly before his death (can't recall the name). Have you read it? It's by a woman author, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now. Dick's thousand-page opus or whatever his diaries are are supposed to be released soon, also too lazy to look for it. But, yeah. Aleister 11:48 21-2-'11
- Thanks for the add. I can't claim to be a great 'Dick' reader but did recently read an overview of his literary career which spurned my interest. I'll check as regards your ***** recommendation - at least I know your review will be unbiased and not planted by someone working for the publishing house concerned! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 12:31, February 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. Damn if I can't find any reference to the long interview I'm talking ab9ut. It was pubished in book form not long after his death, probably by a small publisher. The only reason I came across it was that I got it from a good library which happened to have a copy. If I or you can find it I'll think of ordering it from Abebooks. It's not by a family member, or that interview about Blade Runner (although it was from the same time period, as Dick had just seen the opening scenes of Blade Runner when the interview started). I'll keep searching. Al 12:57 21-2-'11
Graviton
Another one has turned up on VFD; I've copy-edited it and, nearby, have asked Mimo to illustrate it. You might want to take a look. Spıke ¬ 16:56 21-Feb-11
- Ahhh..how many more? Yes, this looks in a poor way. See if I can come up with anything here! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 17:27, February 21, 2011 (UTC)
The template at the bottom of them is a pretty complete list. Spıke ¬ 17:36 21-Feb-11
- I noticed no one has written about 'Levity' yet...--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 17:40, February 21, 2011 (UTC)
While Googling for images, I was reminded that Graviton is a superhero from Marvel Comics. And there are some fun images, and the potential to present a doubly confused author. Spıke ¬ 00:00 22-Feb-11

Hello. Do you have stuff here? I still couldn't find the Philip K. Dick book I wrote about, will keep looking. Thanks for finding some misspellings on the old man and lv page, I always miss some and you or someone else make me look good again. Appreciated. The Chicago Bulls joke was meant as a subtle one, for people who look at links, yet I appreciate your thought there. Edgar Cayce needs some love here. Aleister 1:36 26-2-'11
- No problems regards the revert from overt to subtle. Author(s) prerogative! --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 08:15, February 26, 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the vote and kind words. I found a section of the page that reads a little awkwardly, and will tinker with that - sort of like how you tinker with the epic. If every article was like that one our site would be known by every thinking person worldwide. Now, after writing the first note above, I'm tempted to do an Edgar Cayce page. Aleister 11:46 26-2-'11
- No harm with rewording an article if necessary. Perhaps a mark of true authorship is to remain dissatisfied with the end product..or then again, not so. Or..sell it via Kindle at 99 cents. Perhaps Wiki will do a Huffington Post and stick all our collective work on an AOL site in return of squillions. There is a lesson there..somewhere. As for the epic (with Zarbag), since re-writing/adding a bit of Dame P.P.'s Queen Victoria article, I haven't yet thought of some new jokes there - hence it's stalled status right now. Just when I get ready to start...Spike drops off some squealing bundles called Neutron, Graviton etc who are about to be furnaced in the Uncyclopedia basement...excuses..excuses...and write about Edgar Cayce - so I won't need to check wikipedia to know who this is/was.. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 14:02, February 27, 2011 (UTC)

UnNews:Libya wins the 2011 Bad Ass award
I hope I didn't edit-conflict you too much. It's what you get for bringing an unfinished article to the public space. "Bad Ass award"? How about "Best Bad-Actor"? Spıke ¬ 18:42 28-Feb-11
- Except I don't think Gaddafi is acting. Perhaps the audience of diplomats etc are the real thespians here. No prob regards the conflict editing, I tend to work best that way on UnNews. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:46, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
Not "Bad Actor" as in thespian; "Bad-Actor" as in bad-apple. Of course Gaddafi is not acting, but in cramming together an article that blurs Gaddafi and the Oscars, the exact boundaries are up to the reader. Spıke ¬ 18:49 28-Feb-11
- ah..ok that can make sense too, especially as I finish with a number of fictional film titles...--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 19:12, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
Shouldn't it be "Badass" award, the way it is now suggests Gaddafi has a rubbish arse. Or is that the point? --Zarbag 19:36, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
- Good point..I was thinking more like 'Best Oscar' so could equally be Baddest Ass....I didn't use Arse as that is a bit less offensive - like 'don't be an arse' which doesn't sound quite right in this context. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 20:21, February 28, 2011 (UTC)
- Now that you are back Zarbag...what about sending Julius Caesar up for feature nomination? Ides of March etc?? Could be worth a go. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 20:23, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

Skunk Anansie
I've never really heard any of their songs, or paid much attention to them. They stink, man! On Skunk, thanks for the edits but you know what, I took out the entire section on elephants. It slowed the story, was stupid random elephant stuff, so now I hate elephants except when they show up on UnNews. And I notice you haven't listed Kitten Cookbook on your user page, do you abandon your feature credit on that? You've kicked it to the side of the road like a dog, let alone a kitten. I must now go vote to save something on VFD, don't know what yet but I'll save something in your name, like donating to a relief fund somewhere but more wiki in nature. Aleister 11:04 20-3-'11
- Randumbo the elephant packed his trunk and said goodbye to the uncyclopedia circus...I was wondering where you were going with the elephants there. Perhaps a touch of illogicopedia was creeping into your writing there? The Skunk Anansie thing was just an idea, I wanted to go through the skunk article carefully before voting in favour. Still have to finish that and then I will vote accordingly. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 06:49, March 21, 2011 (UTC)
Hi, saw your note on the Viking Metal nom about the white spaces. Seems fine on my screen. What you may be talking about are the quotes, I have quite a bit of conversation on the page and separated each person's talking by a paragraph. Gwen the Green is interviewing participants in the fashion show, and as she talks she's asking them questions or responding to their answer. This may be the white space you speaketh of. And Skunk, no? Skunk with the pretty eyes? Aleister 00:48 23-3-'11
- Ok I'll will have another look at Viking Metall and consider my vote. Regards Skunk, it seems a bit uneven to me and jumps around a bit. From pseudo encyclopedic tone to 'How to Fuck Like a Skunk' which just looks awkward. I can feel a 'gear crunch' there. I think removing the elephants was a good idea but that was done after at least half of those who voted in favour had read that into the story..so in my view this Skunk has dramatically changed his stripes' on VFH. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:22, March 23, 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your support and some fixin' edits on Viking Metal. I can see how tame would fit in, for the alternate would be for all the contestants to tear each other apart once the results of the fashion show were announced, but then this seems to be an annual event and where would that be if all the best designers kill their own. And skunk. ah, precious skunk. How I sense the flow is that the page is written by a psychotic who managed to get his hands on some good mushrooms, and whose encyclopeidic rendition of the genus Skunk is interspearsed with his private tale of delusional love. The elephants didn't fit, and how they came about is I thought of the line rhyming skunks and trunks and tried to squeeze words around it. You did very well with H.G. Wells, a noble effort! Thanks again. Aleister 11:03 24-3-'11
- Skunks in trunks, there's an angle I hadn't thought of. The H.G.Wells needed only some minor work, the main idea remains. Well, it will do for now. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 14:20, March 24, 2011 (UTC)

HoGB, Tombstone
Two things. There's a good pic of George VI and daughter Liz on user:George VI user page, only used there. Might be a good one for HoGB. And I'm going to do a writing sweep of Tombstone, which was VFH nominated. Haven't done anything on it in several months, so I'll come with fresh eyes. If you have moments to spare, take a look and please tell me if there's anything on the page right now that would make or break your vote. Thanks. Have you heard any good rumors? Aleister 18:38 28-3-'11
- Ok I will have a look at it. Thanks for the tip and I will have another look at Tombstone. I can't remember now (without checking) if I supported it or not. As for rumours..I only trade in gilt edged certainties...--RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 18:47, March 28, 2011 (UTC)
- God no, if you surpported it last time after it was up for a couple of days I'd lose all faith in your judgement. Early in the nom some vandal did the page over, and I never looked at it and was surprised that people were writing such negative comments about the article. Only after it lost did I go back and find out what had happened. Pwned. I have everything watched (I use my user page for my watch list and look at "Related Changes" to see edits), but somehow the vandal slipped through). Aleister 19:00 28-3
Just edited and expanded Tombstone, and if you have any ideas they'd be appreciated. I'll keep thinking if there's anything else needed. And after not reading it for several months, and if I may say so myself, I'm thinkin' it's in pretty good shape. As for rumors, I heard a good one about, well, never mind. Aleister 11:00 29-3-'11
