2016 was a dark time...

MetLife Stadium is the worst located stadium in the National Football League. Despite being home to the New York Giants and New York Jets, it is located in New Jersey. It is also located in the Meadowlands, which is what happens when you combine entertainment, the Bermuda Triangle and the United States. Snoopy and Woodstock would originally greet you at the gates at the start of each event. This doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

The stadium also has topped various charts, mainly relating to how boring its design is. Apparently, it was originally going to be called Allianz Stadium, but MetLife got the naming rights to avoid Nazi controversies. The stadium would later be an inspiration for another worst located stadium in the West Coast, that being Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

History[edit | edit source]

In 2009, Giants Stadium was becoming outdated. It also looked like one of these cookie cutter stadiums. It also had a misleading name, as the stadium was also home to the New York Jets as well. So, in 2010, it ended up being demolished. The final concert there was unsurprisingly played by Bruce Springsteen. He even wrote an entire song about the stadium being demolished and filmed an entire music video that had footage of its death. Thus, there was a new stadium that was built. The new stadium was called MetLife Stadium, and on April 10, 2010, the stadium opened. It hired Snoopy and Woodstock on its opening. Their jobs were to greet fans for every event. They did this for 6 years before they ended up being fired.

Its design is almost similar to that of its predecessor, Giants Stadium, except it is much worse. It is your typical cookie cutter stadium, just much more constricted. It also would've been located in Manhattan, but that didn't happen, sadly.

Events[edit | edit source]

Sporting[edit | edit source]

The stadium is home to the New York Giants and Jets. Contrary to popular belief, both teams are not from New Jersey. Maybe if they would rename themselves, that would be making much sense. That didn't happen. The only time it would've not happened is that if the stadium was built in Manhattan. It also hosted a Super Bowl, despite breaking the rules for stadiums hosting the event. This was because the NFL felt that it would be unfair for them not to host a single one in its life.

It has also hosted two Wrestlemanias and one SummerSlam. Not only that, but it has been used for soccer. It is planned to be used for the World Cup in 2026. However, it needed to lose some seats for this. College football games are also held, except the Army's football team has played there twice. Another sporting event, ice hockey was being hosted there. The NHL thought this place was a good idea to play outdoor ice hockey, so this venue was chosen.

Concerts[edit | edit source]

June 11, 2023. The date when MetLife converted itself to Sheeranism.

Their seats are one of these folding ones made out of fabric, which can be really tight to view concerts, especially in a crowded area (and not just sporting events). Its first concert was a Bon Jovi concert in May 2010. It didn't take until 2 years for Bruce Springsteen to come back to play in the new stadium, as he was mourning the loss of the Giants Stadium for 2 years. The highest-grossing concerts at MetLife went to Taylor Swift, not surprisingly enough, but that didn't last long. It took 16 days to beat her record.

As of 2023, the record for the highest-grossing concert in MetLife goes to Ed Sheeran. As is tradition, MetLife ended up converting itself as a Sheeranist place of worship along with other stadiums that have had this record, such as Nissan Stadium. This just means that while walking through the gates and other areas, you can't see anything else but his likeness everywhere. Unless someone else breaks his record (which is not going to happen), it, along with the other stadiums and venues that have reported his concerts having higher ticket sales than the others, will have to conform to this tradition. If any other musical act breaks his record, the venue in question will convert itself back to normal, much to the dismay of Sheeranists everywhere.

Other events[edit | edit source]

The biggest event held at MetLife Stadium is related to Judaism. This shouldn't be surprising as New Jersey has a lot of Jews. It also hosted Monster Jam in 2012. They also have held events for Jehovah's Witnesses, Indian films and Phil Murphy's inauguration. They even did meet and greets with Snoopy and Woodstock in its first 6 years before they got fired. In the summer days, Snoopy and Woodstock would give away tickets to Cedar Park, even if the people in question didn't live in Ohio. That also doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

According to various radio stations, MetLife Stadium has topped various lists, mainly relating to how boring its atmosphere is, its terrible location choice, and much worse. It is a 30 minute drive from New York City to there, though. The stadium is located next to the shopping mall American Dream, which gives away free tickets to any of their events, but you can't see anything. Worst of all, both locations are located in the Meadowlands, and as mentioned before, it is literally the American Bermuda Triangle. But it's not that much of a mystery anyways, because if you live in New York City, you can literally get there in less than an hour.

Only time will tell if MetLife surpasses Giants Stadium in terms of lifespans.
