Proper NRV usage
When using NRV, please place it using {{NRV|~~~~~}} because without the tildes, there will be no timestamp. Thank you citizen. --Sir gwax (talk) 20:04, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I stupidly paid attention to the part on VFD that said to use {{NRV}} for really bad pages, without looking up proper usage first. And by the time I'd found out I was doing it wrong, I forgot which pages I'd put it on. My bad. --Spang 20:22, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Planet Google
What's wrong with the Sergeant Hans Schultz quote on Planet Google? He's a character from Hogan's Heroes and it was an appropriate quote, but you've taken it off. Bloopy 04:23, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I figured it didn't have much to do with Planet Google, but I've never seen Hogan's Heroes, so looks like I may have been wrong. Sorry! My mistake. Feel free to put it back. --Spang 04:31, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I've just put it back myself. --Spang 04:37, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, that's ok... it's a funny and classic show but not my favourite or anything. Heh, if Sergeant Hans Schultz or anyone else comments on recent the disappearence of Mars then it definitely has something to do with Planet Google! :-P Oh also, you didn't need to bold the word indisputable if you just wanted to tell me about the spelling mistake. I find it strange that undisputed is a lot more common than indisputed, but indisputable is more common than undisputable. Actually, dictionary.reference.com seems to suggest that undisputable is becoming an accepted word.
- That's probably the fault of people like me. Bloopy 06:33, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't bold it to highlight your mistake :-). I did that because the mars.google.com link was kind of unnoticeable, but works very well with the article. The bold will make people pay more attention to it, and follow it. Or something. Don't worry, when I correct spelling in an article, I'm not pedantic enough to make a big point of it! --Spang 07:05, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Miss Iraq
Where did you get the lady from? Anyway, I thought I'd show you http://arabiccelebrities.com/letter_A.htm which will have plenty of head-to-toe photos of attractive Arab women to choose from, and put into the Miss Iraq statue image. --Chomu 06:10, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- I found it through a google image search for "Iraqi Woman". I thought the fact that you couldn't see most of Miss Iraq because of the not-quite-a-burka thing was quite funny. But I'll do a different version if that's not what you were thinking of. I'll look through the site later, I'm too tired to do another one at the moment. I'll put the new one on the article or on your user talk page when it's done. --Spang 07:14, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Mickey Mouse cleanup
Greeting, Spang, Is the Mickey Mouse article cleaned up enough? If not, how may I improve it? Any correspondence is appreciated. SnoopY 19:30, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, it looks a lot better now. I think the {{fix}} can be removed now : ). Can't think of anything right now to improve the article, but it is looking good. → Spang ☃☃☃ 19:39, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy
Why did you subst All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy? I would've thought it is easier to just control it from the template. Otherwise, if I update the template, you can bet I'll be updating that page too. =) Bloopy 11:34, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Why would you ever use that template on more than one page? And if it's only one one page, you might as well update it from the article. Which is not all that great anyway. → Spang ☃☃☃ 11:37, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Because it's funny. I was already using the template on more than one page, in case you didn't notice. Bloopy 11:44, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Do you really need it for that user subpage either? You should just subst it in there too. Why would you want to update the template anyway? There's not much you can add to it. There's no need for that page to be a template. → Spang ☃☃☃ 11:49, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- There's no need but there might be a desire, if anybody else wants to use it. I guess I might as well at least have the template in my user space, if not the template space. Bloopy 11:54, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

NRVs
Hey, just a reminder that pages more than a few days old shouldn't be NRVed. It is possible that you already know this and it is only because I have been looking at older pages that I see you violating the rule. Anyhow, TPS reports, etc, etc.... ---Rev. Isra (talk) 10:06, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
- I thought it was a month? I don't NRV articles over a month old since that rule was brought up at the VD, but if the limit is now a few days then I'll only put it on really new pages. → Spang ☃☃☃ 18:59, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Eh up Chuck!
Congrats on the NOTM, you're in some great company there. Was a difficult month to choose a "winner" for, lots of new talent (as can be seen from the recent Poo Lit competition). Often Admins spend a lot of time having to deal with the dross, so I for one am pleased that the new crop of contributors is such a strong one..... :) -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- Thanks, it's always good to win awards! And congratulations again on your win, too. I am just pleased that nearly all the current members are so friendly, even to n00bs like me :). ..for correcting the column widths on my user page: it's probably better since you changed it. I'm not very good at wikiformatting (yet), but it looked OK on my browser and screen resolution. --Hindleyite Talk 18:36, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- You're welcome :) The main bit's width was just set too wide, and had a %% where there should've be a %, so it was just sending it way to the bottom. I'm still learning the wikiformatting too, so if it turns out I actually broke it, feel free to change it back! → Spang ☃☃☃ 18:45, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the great image for the Ask Hal 9000 page
Thanks again for the great image! I moved the interface to the page you recommended, but could you please now list User:Spang/hal (the unneeded redirect) on QVFD? I'd do it myself, but I don't think it's good form for one user to list a subpage from another user's userpage on QVFD, even under circumstances like this where it's appropriate. --Hrodulf 06:41, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- You're welcome! As far as I know, unneeded redirects on user subpages can be safely ignored. There isn't much real need to delete them. Incidentally, there's no need to have the interface as a subpage of you're putting it all right on the page. I thought it'd be easier to keep all the interface code on a subpage and just link to it with {{UnNews:Ask Hal 9000/interface, keeping the actual page tidy and free of all that mess, but it's all on the actual page, the subpage will just sit there and gather dust. - --Hrodulf 10:49, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I changed it so the code's off the article now. On a related note, please don't huff HALCON2, because a custom template on my userpage uses it, and it's so small that it looks fine, so there's no need to update it for that purpose. Thanks again!

I Am For The Birds...
...not the rotisserie ovens people put them in. I think that's how Cage liked to say it. Man, I really think that the mainpage will be missing out if it doesn't get off its duff and feature this article already. It was in the funny papers, fergawdsakes!! And it makes accessible a rather obscure subject, welcoming everyone to enter and read, perhaps eat one of Cage's magic mushrooms and, most importantly, laugh. Plus it'll bring a touch o'class to this place, maybe attracting new contributors who aren't fifteen year old stubmakers. Eh, just giving my opinion (how very shocking, right?). --Immy I will never wash my talk page again 13:44, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with you completely. That any article can sit on VFH with a feature worthy score for almost three months without being featured is ridiculous. Believe me, if I had any control over what got featured, old Cagey would have been featured long ago, but that just ain't how it works round these parts, unfortunately. I may have to start whoring myself out for for votes until it is. I'm determined that it will be featured eventually. And uncyclopedia will be the better for it, I'm sure. Until then, though, we must play the waiting game.
Lament for an unfeatured John Cage
- Once you sat and gathered dust
- Your content inconsequential.
- Only when deletion was discussed,
- Did I realise your true potential.
- I scrubbed and polished; I gave you soul,
- Your content was much expanded.
- Your overhaul people did extol,
- And a feature nomination you were handed.
- There, they loved you, your content a delight,
- You were better than most noms combined.
- Yet since then, forty others have the spotlight,
- And you're always just too far behind.
- So again you sit and gather dust,
- Waiting patiently for your day.
- But till then, in the voters I must place my trust,
- And hope things eventually go the right way.

- I don't have a clue what you mean, but then again you weren't talking to me. I don't even want this secret knowledge, but I'd like you to bestow it upon this article or something. Why sucha vested interest? Immy I will never wash my talk page again 04:37, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- I assume Rc's talking about that one article that got featured despite the -10 or so votes it had... I can't quite remember its name though. Well, that or he's suggesting producing poetry until people feature it in return for me stopping... Though those alternate roads would be great, I'm pretty sure I'm not the one that has the option of taking that road. If you know what I mean. And I would love to see it featured finally. And Im, I don't know exactly what you were talking about, but if my best guess is anywhere close to right, I can most definitely relate ;) → Spang ☃☃☃ 05:01, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- By Jove, I think you've got it. Exactly ;) ;)*nudge*nudge*. And for the record, the poetry, in my opinion, only makes it more featurable. I don't even whore myself out for my own articles, but I'm ready to don my best fishnets to get this gem on the mainpage. Maybe I'll threaten the admins with photographs of that, you know, if they don't feature it... might work better than the poetry. --Immy 05:36, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, all I can think of to get it featured is to get the right kind of people to vote for it. Or hijack the featuring process. Or blackmail everyone. One thing we can be sure about though, is that one day it will be featured, I'll make sure of that! → Spang ☃☃☃ 08:52, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Those pesky <br> tags
Hey Spang, what browser do you use? I was looking at Daniel Brandt/Main just now and saw you'd added a break tag, and it looked like this on IE6 under Windows XP, regardless of window size:
I didn't change it, but I just thought I'd point it out because I'm, you know, the sort of person who points things like that out. In other words, annoying. Now that I think of it, maybe I could adjust the table-cell width or something... c • > • cunwapquc? 06:13, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, I use firefox and it looked ok to me... probably should have checked IE though. What was happening there was that there was a style thing that was causing it not to wrap, pushing the right hand portal table off the edge, which IE was ignoring for some reason. All is fixed now, and should look OK on IE. I'm too lazy to actually check that though. Damn you and your making me think about stuff! → Spang ☃☃☃ 21:10, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

- Yes, go ahead, that's fine. If you see any other articles marked as dead ends that have plenty of links, anyone can just take those off. Same goes for the redlink template. → Spang ☃☃☃ 14:50, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your Request
Thanks for requesting something cool for the cool article...that inspired me to create my first feature-worthy image in months! Without your request, it would not have been possible. Strong Rad 13:42, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi.
You asked if there was a particular reason to nom you for FFS. There wasn't. Jackmort said more people needed to be nominated. I picked you. I now realize my fault, and changed my vote very creatively. Sliferjam - #1UN - You got something to say? - JAM! - I'm special. 12:25, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. That's ok then. I have also less creatively changed my reply to your vote. I found your creative vote changing highly amusing :) → Spang ☃☃☃ 01:33, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Choose your own articles to pwn
Because I'm already in the process of handling those pages, you dimwit! :D Please do not touch any further. Oh, and gee, could you make this talk page coding theft any more obvious? MUSE RULES!! --~ sin($) tan(€) 01:28, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Here's an idea: how about you shut the hell up! Which pages are you talking about, exactly? All I did was look in the deadends page and fix the three that were there. There are no more there to touch further. Coding theft? Never! It's borrowed from that PLS template that was on the front page ages ago because I liked the colour. At least I think that's where it's from. All other code is mine. Not one of yours, is it? → Spang ☃☃☃ 01:38, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- P.S. Though I admit it is remarkably similar to Isra's talk page, it's not from there → Spang ☃☃☃ 01:40, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- And once again creativeness is lost on Spang... *weeps for Spang* ... *weeps more for creativeness* I was talking about Choose Your Own Adventure. Anyways, yes... I noticed only after I left you this kind word that you had indeed stolen isra's job in his absence. I thought you were looking at new pages or something. But since you didn't: WHY DIDN'T YOU DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE FACT IT WAS NOT LOCATED IN THE Game: NAMESPACE? :D
- Oh, and it looks like Todd's talk page as well (which was stolen by isra, I believe).
- And another thing: I bet you never even noticed my lovely day off page... :( --~ sin($) tan(€) 01:49, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I thought it might be choose your own articles thing, but it's best to make sure. I wouldn't call it a job, there's never more than 5 or so articles in there, and all those just need reverted, deadend tagged/nerved, or deleted. Easy cleanup of the newest crap articles and blanked pages in one. And how was I supposed to know it was a game? You don't expect me to actually read these pages do you?
- Nope, the only thing from isra's page is the admin badge. What you see is just {{WC}}, but with a different message and admin badges. I just liked that blue colour! Incidentally, I changed my new message notification thing to that colour as well. Perhaps one day I'll change it to {{Random colour}} too.
- And yes, I did notice that as soon as you put it up, but was incognito at the time and couldn't say anything. And it never came up in conversation after that. I did enjoy it though :) And rest assured sometime in August there'll be a Spang's day off page too! → Spang ☃☃☃ 02:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Telephone Service
I'm writing to try to get my article Telephone Service revived from the bowels of huffed hell. I was in the process of adding on to the article with different "game" pages to try to imitate telephone operator systems, and I had already gotten several of these pages added on to the home page. I just haven't had time in the past few days (with activities around Independence Day and all) to update it too much. I also originally had everything on one page, but it was a confused, muddled mess, so I had to change it to what it was. I just ask a chance to try to finish it and make it better.
Thanks!--Mr.Vib 13:42, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Spang, it appears you're the only admin on, so...Can u make sure that the article Portalforums is quickly deleted, and all the editors are banned? Sir Cornbread
I would like to make a formal complaint about this user. I am what you would call a noob to this site but the attitude he has shown towards me has not been that nice. And I don't think me being banned for comments a friend made on the Portalforums page should amount to a banning of myself. I happened to tell my friend I was making a page about Portalforums and he and another person posted all that. Now I was going to fix it up in the morning but Sir Cornbread's attitude towards me forced me to make this complaint. Now the way you responded to me was nice his way no so nice. I will give you a taste of what he said to me,
Actually, I'll just make sure your article is deleted. Read the vanity policies. Nobody here gives a flying fuck about some gay website you and your friends like. Nobody cares about members of the site, or how gay they are. You might want 2 save the article to your computer if u like it, because it will be deleted very soon. Have a nice day. -- Sir Cornbread The Great [SHOUT] [CUN] [RAP] 07:50, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
And that was in response to what I posted, As I have stated to other members Portalforums s a work in progress. It is not yet done. It's no like it's a hot pocket you can put in the microwave for 3 mins and then take over the world. It will be funny to more then 3 people in 6 days. Thanks

- Yes, he shouldn't have acted like that. You're as welcome to contribute here as anyone else, but just not articles about yourself and your friends. Don't worry, I won't be banning you for anything, it seems like an honest mistake. I'll leave a note/warning for Sir Cornbread to be a bit more civil in future, or at least work out the difference between a vandal and someone who just doesn't know before saying things like that. If he does it again let an admin know. Most of us don't try to bite the new users here, really :) → Spang ☃☃☃ 08:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Deletion
I would like to know why you deleted a article that was titled "Shelley the Republican.com". Was it not funny or what? – Preceding unsigned comment added by The TV (talk • contribs)
- Well, at uncyclopedia, articles about websites which aren't all that notable are discouraged because for the most part, any humour they have will only be understood by people who go to that website. Also your article in particular looked a lot like an article disguised as an advertisement, i.e. it seemed to be saying "come to my website!" more than trying to be humourous. You'd be welcome to keep it as a user subpage or something. Probably. At User:The TV/Whatever for example. It won't get deleted from there except in rare and unlikely circumstances. I can restore it to there if you want? → Spang ☃☃☃ 23:32, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Chicks on Speed
I noticed that you removed the NRV tag that User:Sir Cornbread added. I don't know the procedures here that well, but I suspect that won't save the page unless you can convince him--or, better, improve the article so it convinces him without argument. I think there ought to be a CoS page here, and the basic joke works, but it obviously needs help. (For example, there should be good jokes about them being pulled offstage by security at a festival they were headlining. See the Wikipedia page or their own website for lots of other ideas.) Anyway, if you can help, thanks. --Falcotron 20:45, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- I am procedure here! The fact that I removed it in itself saved the page from NRV. I removed it again, and added an expansion tag instead. If he adds the NRV back again I could ban him if you want. That said, it's still quite short, so adding a few more sections couldn't hurt. → Spang ☃☃☃ 16:04, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I've been continuing to work on the article since it was originally posted. I don't think Sir Cornbread is going to re-NRV it; he seems content at the moment to make bitchy comments about it on his talk page. --Falcotron 19:46, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
- Assuming the article passes VFD (which I'm pretty sure it will, despite Cornbread's antics, or maybe because of them), how much more expansion does it need at this point? I don't think the article is anywhere near perfect, but is it long enough? I couldn't find any good guidelines, so I took a sample of 50 random articles without NRV, VFD, stub, expansion, etc. templates, and it was longer than 41/50 in page length and 37/50 in raw KB. But that probably includes lots of old articles, from when Uncyclopedia's standards were lower, so I don't know if that means anything. Thanks. --Falcotron 04:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Why did you take out "shit on tv"? it's funny. how do the other ones fit more? -- VFP Eincyc (talk) 17:11, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Because the article is supposed to be completely pro-Bush. And also, all the quotes are famous quotes by various other people, including past presidents, famous writers and stuff, that are supposed to make him sound more intelligent. The link to the quotes page at the bottom has all the quotes like the one I took out. Or try George Dubya Bush. → Spang ☃☃☃ 17:18, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

That move summary
- This should be where everyone can see it, not just the select few you tell about it, or happen to notice it
Can I ask what that is supposed to mean? -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- Sorry, looking at that now it sounds very snarky, and wasn't meant that way. Damn the internet and its inability to convey tone! It just seemed that you had created what seemed to be the official voting page for new admins at a subpage of your userspace, and only told a few people about it. I could hardly find it even mentioned anywhere, and looking at the links, it's completely unlinked, which is tantamount to hiding it. I only knew about it becuase I saw it in the recent changes. I don't know how many people on IRC discussed it, but I sure wasn't told about it. In that email group thing, Chron specifically said to keep discussion to the wiki. And it seemed this wasn't done, and having the voting at any user's subpage doesn't count as having a proper discussion "on the wiki" in my opinion.
- So sorry for it sounding the wrong way, it wasn't meant to sound the way it seems you took it. Hope that clears up that message and why I moved the page. → Spang ☃☃☃ 19:59, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing that up. For the record, we were aiming to have consensus from as many of the Admins as we could that this method was the best way of going forward. The page was "hidden" in as much as until we had chance to talk to more Admins we weren't sure if everyone would be in favour. As its live now, I guess we have little choice but to go with it, just as long as you know when a load of disgruntled Admins start complaining about not been consulted, I'm sending them here.... :)
- For future reference please do not move pages from userspaces unless asked by the author. Userspace SHOULD (within reason) be sacrosanct. -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
- Duly noted, and apologies for any inconvenience.
I'll remember that excuse for next timeI won't do it again (on purpose, at least). Think and discuss before doing, spang! In my defence, it did look a whole lot like an official page on which voting had already started. My mistake. Unlike some other admins, I'm only human! Crazy idea
Spang! How ya doin'? I wanted to thank you for suggesting me as an admin, but I'm pretty sure the more pro-Wikipedia admins here would never allow something like that. That isn't to say they'd have anything to worry about, and in fact they never really did in the first place... But unless somebody wants to come here to Des Moines and meet me in person, just so I can prove I'm not who they thought I was (and it's not like they've ever retracted those assertions), then I can't imagine they'd ever go for it. Meanwhile, I don't want you to stick your neck out on my behalf - if anyone gives you any static for putting my name in, please don't hesitate to remove it - I assure you that you won't hurt my feelings or anything by doing so. (In fact, I often think I can do more good for the site as a regular user anyway!) Good luck, etc., c • > • cunwapquc? 00:36, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
- That's alright, I'm pretty sure the powers that be can't do anything about my opinions. Not yet, anyway. That whole mistaken identity thing was way before my time, but in my experience your conduct has been nothing but exemplary. That's not to say it always has been, I can only speak for when I've been here. Evidence that that whole fiasco even happened seems to be hard to find these days anyway.
- Don't worry, I won't be removing the nomination, but you're welcome to if you'd rather not have that. Now it's just up to the voters, I suppose. Good luck, etc., → Spang ☃☃☃ 04:01, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
