Forum:The issue of TYATU
So I noticed today that TYATU was up for deletion. Obviously, we can't nominate a bunch of articles for deletion at once (*cough*TIMELINE*cough*) and someone suggested that we take it to the dump, so here we are. Please be serious: what should be done with TYATU? Some users suggest that it' just a stupid vanity project, whereas others think it's a masterpiece. What should be done with it?
Discuss. Saberwolf116 16:30, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- TYATU has increasingly attracted cruft, and not of the good kind (if there even is such a thing). I propose all TYATU activity be immediately halted and altogether forbidden. If someone is extremely bothered by a certain episode, they can nominate it at VFD. 16:37, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Meh. I'd be more than happy to see it all mass deleted. It's just one giant vanity in-joke that nobody besides Meganew (who?) and Gouncyclopedia (banned) care about anymore. -OptyC Sucks! CUN17:28, 25 Jun
- Keep as an idiot magnet. If it gets deleted, we might have another <Squirrel Who Must Not Be Named>'s Angels situation. --Mn-z 17:53, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

HowTo: Avoid VFD
- Split your crappy article into more than forty pages.
- Watch with delight as everyone points out the near-impossibility of deleting it through VFD and Mordillo insists it absolutely cannot be done any other way.
- Watch with further delight as the issue spills onto the Village Dump and the site grinds to a standstill as all the regulars argue about your page.
- Watch with even more delight as Uncyclopedia devotes one hour of editor time to every minute you spent pooping out your crappy article, and ultimately doesn't even get it deleted.
- Profit?
19:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I say that we have a vote to mass-delete the entire series here on the Village Dump, then. Also, you forgot the "???" step.
- Anyway, who's with me? --
- I think there might be a few TYATU episodes actually worth keeping, but I generally don't care whether all of TYATU is deleted or not. One thing however I do care about and it's for TYATU to come to an end. No more new TYATU crap.
- How about we compromise: All of the new and terrible shit gets deleted, but we keep the first season for historical purposes. --
- I agree. Saberwolf116 19:30, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

- Thank you for expressing what's exactly on my goddamn mind, Hyperbole. This anti-mass-huffing is a complete waste of fucking time. Just accept category deletions - considering when a category is nommed, every page suffers from roughly the same issues - and get on with it, guys. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 20:14 Jun 25, 2009
- No u. The word "roughly" is a good start there - throwing out the baby with the bathwater is never a great idea. Granted, in the case of TYATU I don't see that there's much chance we're getting rid of much worth saving, the wider putative case of category deletions and other mass deletions is a bad thing. Amongst other things, one of the points of VFD is that the tag goes on the article so if the author keeps an eye on it, and cares, they can make a case for it being kept. And so can others who watch it, for that matter. Mass deletion with so little warning is a bad idea for those reasons and more. --UU - natter 21:00, Jun 25
- Nevertheless, as Hyperbole points out, the current system basically allows massive categories, such as the Timeline and TYATU (regardless of whether they should be or not - this is a different issue from what I'm saying), to never be deleted. Even nomming one section at a time provokes an uproar of "this ain't right!" Just because they're big, doesn't mean they should escape the system; and presently, that's what the system does. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 22:05 Jun 25, 2009
- I gotta agree with Skull, even if he is a git. This is a workaround for VFD. Similar to regular editors moving mainspace articles into their userspace with no discussion. So, maybe I'll move this whole shebang into my userspace then put it on QVFD. Technically it's allowed, correct? -OptyC Sucks! CUN22:14, 25 Jun
- Allowed, yeh, recommended, neh. Wait until the vote's done. If the majority say delete, then offer to take it in your userspace. If for some reason it gets deleted before that, I'll personally put them in your userspace myself if there aren't any other takers. Also, I am a git. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 22:17 Jun 25, 2009

- Delete, based on everything I said on VFD, and also on the basis that half of the people who voted to keep it on VFD were only keeping it because it was being voted on at VFD and not here, which is a bollocks reason, and worth pointing out for its absurdity. --
- For the record, if this option and compromise are approaching a tie, then I consider this vote more strongly than the other. -- 20:33, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

How we all like deleting and removing stuff. It's a national hobby here already ain'`t it. For the record though, two points:
- I never said anything about removing or not removing it through VFD. I just said this doesn't get a different treatment then Timeline.
- If anyone, and this is the absolutely the last time I'm saying that, will take the piss out of Crablogger again, I'm banning him/her for a month. This is way past being funny. This is cyber harassment of someone who tried his best to write articles, got a shit treatment and left - and ever since then a couple of users seem to think it's funny to run a crusade against him. ~ 21:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, it's gone.
I'll miss the series. Admittedly, it kind of jumped the shark near the end of season 2. And season 3 started to really suck after a while. However, us creators put a lot of effort into it. It wasn't really too good for the mainspace, but it wasn't horrible. It was the first major UnScript. I think it should have been userspaced. Season 3 got too vain, Meganew advertised it a bit too much, and Gouncyclopedia!...just sucked. But it was fun. Fun to write. Somewhat funny to read, at parts. Managed to parody some movies and stuff along the way. ...Actually, it would probably have been better written in a userspace, without that construction template getting in our way. But oh well.
