Re: Homosexual furniture

You nailed it -- it is indeed Photoshopped, original version here. The idea of making it pink and turning into a gay rights allegory came to me in a fevered dream. But anyway, I'm glad you like it. Might you consider nominating it for VFH? Or, barring that, voting for my laff-a-minute article on Hammers? It's currently languishing towards the bottom of the VFH page. Thanks for listening to my shameless self-promotion.

PS: I see you created the "Twins" image for the Fatties article -- great stuff! It goes well with that section. --Jordanus 00:43, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I appreciate it, friend. And I guess you're right about the Credenza article; I'm just pushing for feedback now because I know that once it gets bumped off the "Recent articles" template, it'll never be seen again. I mean, really: who's gonna be searching for that? I was thinking of putting it in Pee Review, but that place is usually pretty backlogged... Anyway, you got any suggestions for it?
As for your article, I didn't really get the joke at first, but it made much more sense after seeing the original Wiki article. It's a tad random, but I don't see any problem with that. If you think it's ready (it definitely looks that way) you should consider self-nomming on VFH. I would've nommed Credenza, but it's not a week old yet, and still needs some work. --Jordanus 14:47, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Very Weak For. Not really what I'd call VFH funny, but where I've "marked down" articles before because they were too short, I'll give you a few points (metaphorical, not score-wise) because you obviously put a lot of time and effort into this. The first cut is the deepest, eh? Just remember for next time:

  1. No matter how much you like it, some people won't (my favourite page of mine, and second self nom on VFH, lasted all of a day before being mercy-killed...that hurt)
  2. Edit, edit, edit. Even the best page will lose it's audience after five minutes or so (that's why Canada went from one to several pages). Condensed genius is better than whatever the opposite of condensed is.

Good luck on the next one. I'd like to say that it gets easier, but it doesn't...--Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 04:35, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Meh. No skin off my nose, feces occur, and all that. The only thing that bugs me is I get the impression from the comments that some of the against votes were knee-jerk reactions to the length, without having read more than the first paragraph. My attitude is more like: Why should I limit the length to suit the users with ADD? My next effort will probably be just as long or longer, 'cause that's just the way I am, and obviously, some folks appreciated it. . .
Frankly, I'm happy as a pig in shit that it got the + votes it did: that's enough encouragement for me.  Sir Tooltroll, Esq. CUN  Eh?  Oh!  UnTunes! Cannabagreen.jpgI Card-hearts-up.gif my cat! 05:05, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
TT, I'm sorry about being one of those who appeared to have a knee-jerk reaction about the length (not to mention the content). I know you put a lot of work into that article, and it was well-done, really - but the fact is, it was too long — for that topic. People just don't expect major articles from topics like that, and when they see them, they can't cope... Tell ya what, though. When you feel like you've got another one that's ready for the VFH-sawmill, let me know beforehand, OK? I'm one of the best proofreaders the site has (all modesty aside), and I can help out with things like appropriate length, image selections, captions, layout, the whole nine yards. I'm sorry if it sounds patronizing, but I like where you're headed, man! Just don't forget, topic selection is vital. And you'll know when you've picked the right one, because the article will practically write itself. Anyway... No hard feelings?  c • > • cunwapquc? 05:21, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Aw, shucks. . . Actually, you called it closer than some. It is "prostitution-related humor" (or at least the horrible pun I used for a springboard is.) What cheeses me are the comments about "prostitutes freezing to death", when the second paragraph reads:
"Originally thought to be simply the effects of long-term exposure to subzero temperatures on scantily-dressed, poorly nourished women, it was eventually discovered, during the mid-twentieth century, that WF is actually caused by prions originally hosted by bearatross. Although most reputable scienticians and epidemiologists have accepted the prion theory, some have proposed another possibility."
Which seems to me pretty damning evidence that things get voted on without being read, (or without being more than just quickly skimmed.) That's just wrong. . . like a hockey or football ref who can't even be bothered to pay attention to the game. (Every few days I go to VFH, and check out the new noms. . . When I find something I like, I give it a 4; if it's a total piece of tripe that looks like it was slapped together in a drunken afternoon, (hasn't happened yet) I'll give it a -; but if it's an otherwise well-written article that just doesn't hold my attention because it isn't my "thing" and I don't want to read all of it, I try to realize that my "thing" ain't the only "thing" out there, and abstain.) At least you seem to have a grasp of where I was going with this, so even if I were the type to hold grudges, you wouldn't be one of the grudgees. So I wrote an epic tale of ursine rape and pillage, spanning thousands of years and miles, with an endearing cast of characters of broad depth and scope, incorporating the fundamentals of love, blood and rhetoric. . . and it went over like a plutonium dirigible. 'Tain't worth getting homicidal over. . . maybe herbicidal. . .  Sir Tooltroll, Esq. CUN  Eh?  Oh!  UnTunes! Cannabagreen.jpgI Card-hearts-up.gif my cat! 11:23, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Once again, great, great work.

Funny coincidence, somewhere in that oversized forum article I posted the following:
"You do realize that a massive Aspie attack on Uncyclopedia would be more grist for the Aspie-humor mill, don't you? We would make an article called "The Great Aspie/Uncyclopedia War of 2006" and detail all the battles, and photoshop pictures of tanks with pictures of other tanks on their side. Ask yourself: is that something you really want to happen? --Hrodulf 15:47, 24 October 2006 (UTC)"
Maybe a little mean, but I do like the Aspergers' tanks that have pictures of other tanks on them. Dunno if anyone will make an article, but that would be another way to mine this incident for something positive for the site.

The Great Aspie War of Ought Six

I think it's coming along nicely. It's amazing to me that Slashy is actually still in Forum:Asperger Syndrome is no laughing matter running his mouth (hm, he's typing, not talking. Hands?) without running his brain (assuming he has one. I think the spinal cord alone would be enough for him). I still want to do another tank picture and if there's any way to make it more AS-offensive for the purposes of pissing off Slashy, that's fine, but I don't have any other specific ideas. I was wondering if you had anything in mind. --Hrodulf 12:31, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

From the "Save the Aspies" forum (you know which one I mean)

Cquote1.png

O, my people!

>sigh< . . . and so Slashy reiterates the same tired arguments yet again, throwing in bogus legal threats like a barracks lawyer, as if he's got the resources to actually commence legal proceedings. Don't you all get it? He won't be reasoned with, and will accept nothing less than absolute capitulation on our part. Logical, reasonable debate on the issue falls on deaf ears, and only prompts him to more repetition of his unwavering demands and/or rationale. The more you try to meet him halfway, the harder he spouts his immutable rhetoric. If you're not going to abuse him for your own pleasure, or let slip my leash, then quit talking to him before his repetitive dogma fills another page. We're no closer to a resolution than we were 190K ago, and we never will be, since it's clear that resolution is not his desire: He's just a spoiled little boy seeking attention.  Sir Tooltroll, Esq. Tooltroll, speaking only for myself, based on this guy's arrogance, contempt for American civil rights, resorting to increasingly bizarre and hysterical attacks upon people who dare to disagree with him and complete failure to acknowledge that he's utterly lost this little debate, let that leash slip.
