Fritz Lang, Akira Kursowa[edit source]
Two of my favorite directors, own 2 by Lang and i don't know how many by Kurosawa. I'm glad you made articles for these two heroes of mine, they deserve it; I came through by making a crappy Hayao Miyazaki article, but whatever... What's the deal with Mad Max 4?? I've been getting teased around by all those news feeds saying it's going to happen and then 2 weeks later they said George Miller got bored and instead made a movie about penguins. --AmericanBastard 22:13, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

How you've been passed over for Admin rank for the last year and half I haven't the foggiest idea? I think you were actually nommed for it at the same time as me! :) At least you know that not everyone is blind to the amount of work you get through. -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)

Sockpuppet Categories[edit source]
Hi.....Not sure if you noticed but Codeine deleted a lot of the Sockpuppet categories earlier today, as we're not overkeen on people stroking their egos through the site. I think we're probably going to have to make a decision on this at some point soon. -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
I'm terribly sorry![edit source]
For a few minutes I accidentally thought you were a vandal. I was a little surprised to learn that the exact opposite was true, given a few misinterpretations of your recent edits, but that doesn't matter. I'm terribly sorry, please accept this as a token of... apology? It isn't much, but it's the most an insignificant normal user like myself can offer.

Sorry, I didn't realize that. Should links to deleted articles, templates, etc. stay red links or should they be redirected somewhere such as UN:CVP or UN:CRP for example ? MadMax 09:08, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'd let the admins deal with CVPs if I were you, but you can redirect a page to CRP if it is being vandalised repeatedly. If a non-existent page has multiple redlinks, I would either redirect it to a similar title, or just leave it as it is if there is no similar title. Anyway, thanks for all the hard work. I used to work nearly as hard as you, but then I got bored. Sir Cs1987 UOTM. t. c 06:57, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

for tinkering with History of Woman. Well, it's more than tinkering, must have taken you a good while. Mostly it is an improvement, allthough on my screeen, Boudicca now halfway overlays the box with the content headings. I guess it is just very hard to get a layout that works on every screen configuration. But thanks again. Pieface 16:21, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- Your welcome. Actually it did take some time, mostly with trying to make the various images consistant with the article, although I hadn't noticed the Boudica image. I'll move it down slightly if that makes a difference ? MadMax 07:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for moving it down, but it didn't help (much). I will tinker with it. Thanks again for your help.Pieface 07:35, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm..its a bit difficult as it appears normally on my screen so I can't tell wiether my changes are better or worse. Please feel free to make any changes you can to improve it however. MadMax 07:41, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Also, a word about the {{talkheader}}. What's the purpose for that one? It takes away the lovely chaos of the talk pages....~ 09:13, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, originally it was to get the unused Template talk pages off the wanted articles list, although I thought it was a logical add on for the {{oldvfd}} template and would hopefully prevent flame wars on certain controversal pages. It also displays the top headers correctly (== == as opposed to === ===). Although if you think it just clutters up the talk pages, I can remove it from those pages with out the {{oldvfd}} template. Thanks for the award by the way. :) MadMax 22:41, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, you'd really be suprised how many times an article has been recreated. MadMax 07:41, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I resent this label[edit source]
You labeled the talk page of my pet article and masterpiece as a recent VFD. However, only the original American article was so nominated. After that page lost out, my own article, American (species) was used to replace it and was accordingly moved to that page name. Since my article was clearly not the one up for deletion, I resent the label you put on the talk page. While my article was clearly not good enough to be nominated, there was no indication that it was bad enough to be deleted, and I resent it being so associated with any such label.
Having explained my reasons, may I remove that label on the talk page? Humble Acolyte of Humor, Radioactive afikomen 22:12, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, I hadn't realized the page had been moved. I've removed the oldvfd tag and my apologies for the misunderstanding. MadMax 23:53, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. Radioactive afikomen 00:11, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
VFD kept articles[edit source]
Please see discussion Marking the Survivors near the bottom of the VFD talk page; your name came up and I want to make sure we have everything straight before proceeding any further. Slithy Tove 14:31, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I have been working on tagging former VFD article for a few weeks now. I imported the {{oldvfd}} template from Wikipedia and have used it along with {{talkheader}}. Along with User:Insineratehymn, we've both been taging most of the VFD articles between 2006-2007 although its a bit more difficult going through the earlier archives given a lot of articles have been deleted and recreated several times. I hadn't realized anyone else had been working on a similar issue, however your recent list is both impressive and extremely helpful. Here is a list of articles I've already placed a template. If there's anything I can do, please let me know. MadMax 06:42, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
My list only goes back to late April 2006. I have listed which articles I've tagged with oldvfd on my list. Sometimes there's ambiguity as to whether articles were voted kept or not, so you may want to tag some I haven't. Also, I haven't been putting the talkheaders on. But hopefully I've helped somewhat. Slithy Tove 11:04, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Category:QVFD[edit source]
This category is pretty much deprecated now, as we have realised that the easiest way to QVFD pages is just to link to them on the QVFD page, and forget about templates, categories etc. Actually, you probably don't need to know that, since you almost certainly will be an admin by next month, and you will be able to delete such pages on sight. Anyway, I just thought it would speed things up a bit if you stopped adding pages to this category. Sir Cs1987 UOTM. t. c 13:39, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't realize I was actually being considered, nor did I realize how many people knew who I was nevermind who would be in favor of it. :) Although if only two can make the cut, I really don't mind if someone else wants it. MadMax 21:33, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Vote[edit source]
Are you aware of the discussion and vote here: Forum:Why do we need a Talk Page Header? Slithy Tove 01:16, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know. I certainly didn't intend for all the trouble or that that it would be so widely used. I've hopefully given a somewhat reasonable explanation and of course ceased using the template. MadMax 21:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Backlog Question[edit source]
What's your backlog subpage all about? -- Kippy the Elf Talk Works ☃
- Well, about a year and a half ago all the special pages (effecting all Wikis I believe) became cached and were updated every 24 hours. One of the problems with this is that with over 1000+ entries it's impossible to sort out what has been deleted, unorphaned, categorized, etc. I also put articles which have been ICU'd so I can wait seven days before linking them. Otherwise I'm just creating more red links for the Wanted page. I suppose I should have left a summery, however I didn't think anyone would find it. :) MadMax 19:40, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Congratulations, MadMax! You were nominated for sysop before those you were up against had even registered, even when you were an IP, we knew you were special. Glad to have you as a member of the adminatti. 2007.08.01.02:41

Right back at you MadMax. I did wonder if you would have noticed the nom, off in your own little categorising world, but I thought, nah... that's just crazy thinking. :-) That must have been quite some surprise! But the important thing is, its arrived, so congratulations on a well deserved "promotion". If you need any advice on abusing your new powers give me a shout. :) -- Sir Mhaille (talk to me)
