ATTENTION COLONIZER[edit source]

Duty Calls! Imperial Colonization has been commandeered! With a shiny new, waterproof coat, we're heading out to sea once again. We need you for our next colonization. You have one week to nominate or vote from right now, Sunday the 31st of January 2010, to Saturday the 6th of February 2010. (See Protocol for how to nominate an article for Colonization. And remember, if you vote for an article that means you intend to help colonize it.) Then starting Sunday, 7 February 2010, we will start colonizing another savage land (i.e., improving whichever article gets the most votes). Come on board and vote or nom now, to the glory of Her Majesty!

EXTRA: Our most recent colonization, Transformers, has just been Pee Reviewed. If you're interested in making improvements, please check out the article and the review. With a little work, we may have another glorious Feature article! Wouldn't that be just spiffy? And remember, if you participate and this does get featured, you get one half feature credit!

For the Glory of Her Majesty and by Order of your Fearful Fearless Leader, King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  19:35, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

UotM Nom[edit source]

A couple days ago I noticed you hadn't won UotM, and thought about nomming you. But I saw you'd already been nommed. As it happens, this month I voted for Woody. I think you're a great uncyclopedian, and definitely look for you getting this. But you already have a higher rank than UotM gives you, and Woody's been here longer than you or I combined, and has been making great contributions for a long time. You were a fine contributor last month, but as you said you'd like to get this for one of your better months and you don't think last month fits that, I'll support that. Frankly, if I hadn't spent several hours at the end of last month working to revive IC, I would have felt rather guilty accepting the award, and still do a little, as otherwise last month was one of my weaker months. Ah well. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  06:35, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

I agree completely - well, except for the ranking bit, as I've never really taken much notice of that. And your winning UotM was long overdue anyway. My votes for that stretched over a user-time of working as an effective member of the Uncyc community, so no guilt needed. I'm actually trying to work on my potato-chopping skills as that is still one aspect of my contribs that is letting me down. I can obviously do some decent animation work, but comic brilliance in an image (that is not textually based) is still beyond me. I'm also trying to get the game that I'm working on done as I don't recall any games being featured, and there is some brilliant stuff in our games that should be looked at a little closer. At the same time I'm still trying to keep up a consistently good writing and coding aspect, and I'd like to help noobs a little more and that means a rewrite of UN:HAX is in the works, along with our editing help page. Once I have those done then I'll be campaigning for this award. But Woody helped build Uncyc, and so far I've just helped it coast along rather than grow. Pup
Well, excuse me for being such a pain! Keep in mind I'd been waiting since November to nom you, but people keep coming 2nd in the competition, and then they have a home-run next month, where another person comes second etc. Just thought I'd get the ball rolling. And stop with this self-degrading nonsense. You two are awesome Uncyclopedians, and not even Oscar Wilde, Chuck Norris, or any other cliche could tell you wrong. --Matfen 11:56, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
It's not that - no self-degradation or false modesty - I know that I will get this award simply by being here this long and doing the stuff that I do. But when I win this I want it to be because I have gone above and beyond the call of civic duty. I want it to be because I've laid the foundations of something that will help uncyc thrive. I can review 100 articles but that just means that there are a further 500 that I haven't done. UN:HAX redux and editing help will do so much more, as will a few other irons in the fire that will potentially come to light. Pup
Fair enough. I respect your integritah on this position. No more need be said. --Matfen 19:11, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Need help if you can spare a few minutes. Apparently the stamp location on the bottom of Jewish Cuisine is not absolute and is dependent on the resolution and monitor. Any idea how to lock it in place for on top of the final section? ~Jewriken.GIF 18:45, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

I'll have a look at it... Pup 20:26, 8/02/2010
Done, but it has a couple of minor issues. First suggestion is to actually place the stamp behind the text, as there are some browsers/networks that will not allow transparent colours and that will kill the look of this one. Placing it behind will keep the humour without destroying the look. The second thing is the spacing. There are two things that you can do to tweak this. The first is to change the positioning of the image by changing the top: 150px to raise or lower it. (The lower the number the higher it will sit). The other thing you can do is increase the size of the spacer image to push the categories lower. Otherwise should all be good. Pup 22:23, 8/02/2010
Thanks very much. So, how do you place the image behind the text? Is that a DIV attribute? ~Jewriken.GIF 08:30, February 9, 2010 (UTC)
I have to be honest, I haven't seen any change in the code, though I saw the change in the pic, what did you change exactly? ~Jewriken.GIF 09:06, February 9, 2010 (UTC)
z-index is where things are in front of the other... a little complex but the lower the number the further back it is. I changed from a "1" to a "-1" Pup 09:44, 9/02/2010
Ah! That's what I missed. Thanks! ~Jewriken.GIF 09:55, February 9, 2010 (UTC)

Your siggy[edit source]

I know you'll probably change your signature again in five minutes anyway, but not having the time stamp easily visible drives some of us wacky (I've seen some of the big scary people get on users for that). Could you add that, please? I like to know if I might have a good chance of catching someone who just posted, and also if a question was asked after I answered the previous question or before so I know if I already answered or not. (And if none of that last part makes sense, it doesn't matter--just please show us the time). King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  19:25, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

The use of UTC buggers up my mental clock which is why it's generally hidden. And I haven't changed my sig for ages since this last change, which just has gone through a couple of steps due to a coding issue. Pup 21:51, 8/02/2010

Problem with my userpage[edit source]

Since you do know some about wiki formatting, my userboxes aren't in a straight line or anything. I can't put any new ones in or it breaks the tables. So, what am I doing wrong? I at least want mine to look nice like Chief's. Sir ¬_¬ | Banter HOMOPHOBE!!! CUN.png Icons-flag-us.png NOTM 04:01, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Ummm... tell you what - I'm fairly busy trying to do a few different things at once, and I'd rather that you learnt how to do this rather than having it done for you. Have a look at the coding on Chief's page and see if you can emulate it. If that fails then see if you can find somewhere else that has similar formatting to what you like. And don't forget that some userboxes have their own definition of where they want to be. And some really cool people don't even have userboxes on their pages. Pup 05:24, 10/02/2010

ATTENTION COLONIZERS: WE ARE RECREATING CREATIONISM[edit source]

The Bible says God created the world in six days by himself--our crew of talented colonizers can surely recreate an article in a week and a half! Remember, any Colonizer is welcome to work on our current project, which is the Creationism article. But before you begin, check "READ THIS FIRST" at the top. From Sunday, 7 February to Wednesday, 10 February 2010, a hearty crew of brave colonizers plotted a strong course for the article by consensus. We have the beginning of a great colonization, so go forth and colonize to the glory of Her Majesty!

Special Note for Lobsterbacks (i.e. those who signed up but haven't yet worked on a successful colonization). We plan to keep your name on the honored membership list if you make worthwhile contribution to the article or other parts of Imperial Colonization between 31 January 2010 and the end of this project. If your name is removed from the list, you are welcome to reapply when you plan to become active. User:Why do I need to provide this?/sig10 05:11, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

What browser are you using? It should show up as green block if the sig is okay. If it's too tall then you'll get some red showing on the screen (which is what I have) or too long will do the same thing. Pup 09:11, 21/02/2010
Firefox 3.0.17. It looks like a 2 or 3 pixel high red bar in a green box. (I can see a 1 pixel high portion with my dancing banana's feet.) Is that what it's supposed to do? Shouldn't it tell my I'm ok as a person or something? Thanks.  Avast Matey!!! Happytimes are here!* Happytimes.gif (talk) (stalk) Π   ~ Xkey280.jpg ~  21 Feb 2010 ~ 09:34 (UTC)
  1. Firefox rocks.
  2. That's all it does. The idea is that it hides your sig behind a span that's 12px high and 55 X's long, while putting your sig on a red background. if your sig is taller than 12px (which yours is) and longer than 55 X's, then you'll see some of the red. I've noticed though that sig's can get to about 15px high without an admin getting antsy, so unless anyone says anything, you should be fine.
  3. I've tried to create a template that tells you that you're okay as a person, but it keeps telling me I'm a bastard, so there must be something wrong with it. Pup 10:01, 21/02/2010

A) I didn't create {{H3}}, and I simply copied the existing code that someone had put together on that page to create {{H4}}. It's Geek chic - The numbers are the ASCII codes for the letters POTR - which as everyone knows is an abbreviation for Populus tremuloides, which is a tree that is tree native to cooler areas of North America (qv Wikipedia:Populus tremuloides). The Fonz was from North America, making North America the coolest place on Earth, so therefore this is from the cooler part of the coolest place on Earth. Yes I do[edit source]

I always hated the games namespace. This is the point I was making: take a look at our Subprojects. The games namespace was not created as a parody of anything on Wikipedia, and Wikipedia agrees. While each of the subprojects specializes in satire of a different information style, one can't help but notice that Zork began it all and created a snowball effect on a tedious style of cruft. The Zork game we have was created as a parody of the actual Zork game. There are a few other games which are game parodies, but a majority of them are absolute cruft and stray off from disinformation to just plain nonsense. The games namespace is just a little fun corner of the site - or at least some people find it fun. Okay, scratch that, nobody finds it fun. Don't forget what I said in the forum about 9/11 and 2012 at the same time. I think that still remains the strongest argument for deleting the games namespace. If it were up to me I'd delete them all except Zork, and let the kiddies move games to their userspace. Good article so far though! --EMC [TALK] 07:16 Feb 26 2010

I thinl that there is an excessive amount of cruft there, but I like Zork, and a few others in there have decent concept but fall well short in execution. But we've both been clear, and won't be able to change each others minds, so the next step is to VFD cruft, and write quality. Nominally Humane! some time 20:59, 26/02/2010

Wow. I must have missed something along the way or something, but from the looks of it me getting/not getting this is some sort of big deal, or something. Something about OptyC leaving and TKF being a knob and whatnot. I'm kind of confused. In all fairness, though, you deserve it just as much as I do, so yeah. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 03:10, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

G, I'd suggest you just lay back and enjoy the ride. You deserve it, and you getting it will make TKF cry in his root beer, and Puppy should get it the next month. My understanding is: TKF said something in IRC a while ago, he brought it up in a little war between him and OptyC, OptyC felt as if he didn't deserve the award, shit happened, and now here we are. This kinda stuff[edit source]

Don't. If you want to get a page deleted then nominate it for VFD. What you did was not much more than page blanking. I ban people for doing what you just did there sometimes. Especially as it's your article you are redirecting to. That kinda sucks bad man, doing stuff like that. Please don't do it again. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 11:02, Feb 28

Okay. We'll do it this way then. Nominally Humane! some time 11:58, 28/02/2010
That's a lot better. As your rewrite is totally new it's probably a good idea to nominate the old page for VFD and move your new one over the top when it's gone (as I suggested) as someone could revert it when you are not around/gone but that's up to you. Also there now appear to be two pages on the wiki which are almost the same. What ya going to do about that? MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 22:16, Feb 28
I actually like to keep the old one in history. As much as I hated it, there is occasionally stuff I have taken from history that has been rewritten but people like to be able to get to what was there. Stereotype is a classic example of that. And as for reverts to current articles - I'm so used to going back through them, and if something keeps being reverted, then it's an indication that work may need to be done on the article.
I'm having trouble with that "duplicate" page for concept reasons. I actually wanted to just go straight into Game:Alone in the dark/Title, but that would mean having the two templates that are on Game:Alone in the dark would either have to be there, which stuffs up the look, or not having them, which is against the whole look of the Game site, and YTTE did a good job with those. So my thought at the moment is to create "cover art" for the game and have it looking like a game box that - when clicked on - takes you into the title screen. So at the moment it's a place holder, but will probably get kicked around over the next 48 hours. Nominally Humane! some time 23:12, 28/02/2010
Well, that's kinda why I was suggesting you nominate the old page for VFD. I'm rather confident that if you did you would get agrement to huff that page and replace it with a redirect to Game:Alone in the dark solving the problem. You would loose the history, but you could request it be moved into your user space if you really care that much. Yea, I know it's a pain, and would be far less effort if you could just do what you did in the first place with the redirect, but unfortunately I can't allow people to start replacing established pages with redirects without going through VFD first. Obviously if you come up with an alternative solution that's great also. So long as we don't end up with two pages which are basically identical (like we have now) then it's cool. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 23:37, Feb 28

There it is![edit source]

The Alone in the Dark Title Haunted House. I had seen the house and the lightning uploaded a while back and was wondering where it was going to go. I looked on ghost, and on haunted house, and didn't see it, but never asked you. Now it's got all kinds of added things, bats and lights going on and off, probably the best graphic I've seen on uncy. I've nominated Funnybony for 'tatochopper this month--it's amazing he's never won it--but since this is so new I'd be humbled and honored kind Sir to nominate you and your pic for both the month award in March and for VFP. Note, on the article page, with the smaller version, it doesn't move because of the size, so the whole effect of the finished gif is not present. My hands would be clapping at this moment, but they seem to be striking at letters so I will not stop them. ~ User:Aleister in Chains User talk:Aleister in Chains 12:23 28 2 2MX

I've actually deliberately kept the image as a still on the article page, as it's supposed to look like a screenshot. And the pic is good, but I'd vote against as VFP to be honest, as it's not a "funny" pic, so wouldn't suit the front page. Besides, the reality is that you're looking at 4 pics overlapping each other for the final effect on the title screen, and 3 (I think) on Game:Alone in the dark/Dercretin. Nominally Humane! some time 23:17, 28/02/2010

I thought about the first of the next month, but really I like the way that 353 days a year the card will be expired... I can change it to next month, but it will take 14.983 Martian minutes to complete - which we all know equates to 23.784 of your Earth minutes. What was the first question again? Nominally Humane! some time 01:10, 4/03/2010

For Co-creating Creationism[edit source]

link=:File:{{{image}}}

This person wrote an article which became one of the Featured Articles on Uncyclopedia. Ain't they clever?!

You served beyond the call of duty to help create this colonization for God and Country. Be proud! And accept this 1/2 feature credit.

King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  03:16, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

And a special note for Puppy: I noticed that you credited yourself with doing Creationism with IC. It's possible in the distant past (i.e. Al Gore and Great Britain) that everyone in IC who made any edit whatsoever got 1/2 feature credit--I don't know, I wasn't there. But I'm not doing it that way now, as we'd be giving 1/2 feature credit to people who made edits that were all reverted because they were way off topic, or someone who added only one or two words (both those happened with Creationism). In fact, out-and-out vandalism could get 1/2 feature credit, as long as the writer had signed up for IC.

But on the other hand, I don't want to not give an IC member any credit if they really tried.

So the way I'm doing it for Creationism is I'm giving credit on The Big Board to every colonizer who edited. But I'm going through the edits and seeing who I think were among those who made the most significant contributions to the final article, and they're getting 1/2 feature credit. I'm trying to make this as fair as possible (while frankly still being a little generous).

So in the future, I'd prefer you not give yourself feature credit until I give it to you. I'm not worried about you, but want to be consistent with everyone so it doesn't look like I'm playing favorites (even though I am--after all, I gave myself credit). King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  04:04, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

Cool - I honestly didn't agree with the half credit system they had before, and only support it now as a method of encouraging IC membership now with reluctance... However, I need to catch up with UU, and to get ahead of Orian, so I'm taking the advantage of the extra half credit. Nominally Humane! some time 04:41, 8/03/2010

Yes and no. You can set up personal js for some different functionality, and admins can set up site-wide js, but as for the pages themselves... no. Wikimedia is designed to set up static pages for the most part. Exceptions to that are things like sigexpand, hidden sections, parser functions, and animated gifs. Combinations of all of these things together can create some interactive features, which you can use to do things like Game:Alone in the dark. Most of what you do have access to is different layout tricks, like absolute positioning of divs and stuff, which can be used to create Microsoft Knowledge Base. Anything in particular you were trying to achieve? Nominally Humane! some time Saturday, 22:44, Mar 13 2010 UTC

I can see what you're trying to achieve, and short answer is no. Longer answer is that you may be able to fake a similar result by pasting a div over the top of the exisitng community bar, but it won't work in all browser/platform combinations (thinking particularly of mobile platforms here.) It would be messy but similar result. Nominally Humane! some time Sunday, 04:03, Mar 14 2010 UTC

AAN box[edit source]

I should put this in the discussion we've been having, but I don't remember where it was. I think you said you're redoing the AAN box. I think it would really be helpful if we got the colors back in, especially for whether someone's now adopting or not. Especially considering this is for noobs, I think it would be great to make it as easy as possible. I do see the colors are in for MIA, which is great. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  05:04, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

I just added something back to the old convo earlier today - I think I have to go back to the drawing board with this somewhat. If someone writes "yes" "no" or "MIA" in the admin/accepting/on uncyc areas it will change colour accordingly. Nominally Humane! some time Monday, 05:25, Mar 15 2010 UTC
Yeah, if you could fix it that would be great. Some of us reallt want to be able to put personal messages in the boxes and still have the colours show. Maybe for now you could change it back to your version where everything was as it was before only the margins were different? That's actually what I was looking for anyway when I first proposed changing it to RAHB. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  18:49, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Who created God?[edit source]

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to reply, but thanks for your comments, they are extremely helpful but I have a few further questions about general editing and if you are able to answer them that would be great.

I'm not entirely confident with the formatting on wikis, but it appears to be a life skill which I will need to acquire so here goes:

Firstly: Thanks for the info about my list names that constituted stale humour, I actually put them in because they seemed to appear in a lot of articles and hence were a required element, rather than a fad that had gone too far. How exactly do I work out whether someone has a place in the article?

Secondly: I actually created this article as a response to the creationism article as one of the links was broken (Who created God exactly?), which I tried to fill with more than the one line article originally presented. However, I wanted the article to reflect a biased and uninformed opinion as much as possible, is this completely unworkable or do I need to make the article seem skewed with a bit of balance?

Thirdly: I wanted the image to draw the attention of the reader as it is quite central to the article and as such am reasonably unhappy about the new format. Is there a way in which I can make it more central without breaking the format of an encyclopaedia as I am generally unskilled with the wiki formatting system.

Also: I am using firefox but forgot to install the dictionary this time round (which has now been fixed), although I did run it through Microsoft word thinking that firefox's spell check was broken.

Also 2: I am very glad that this website is around to distract me from doing actual philosophy... I really dislike Plato's Republic :S

Again thanks for the Review, if I manage to make this article actually funny I could certainly see more pages to come :) --AeroZephyr 00:07, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

About USP[edit source]

Sorry, I've been running into some getting-here problems lately.

Imperial Colonization Buccaneer Admiral walking the plank![edit source]

Actually, I'm looking for a temporary assistant/permanent successor as head of Imperial Colonization. I got put in charge of IC because I kept bugging a certain admin. I'd say, "Why isn't somebody doing this with IC?" and "Why isn't somebody doing that with IC?" So that admin basically said "Why, you're somebody; go do it" (see discussion here). But as you can see, I took on the position planning to update IC, get it moving again, and see it through one colonization. Well, that happened. IC was updated and reactivated and, thanks to some great colonizers, Creationism was recreated in a spirit of cooperation, was rewritten on deadline, was Pee Reviewed and, as a bonus, was voter-chosen as a feature article within about a day of being nommed. Our current project, Uncyclopedia:Imperial Colonization/Batman is scheduled to be written by 20 March, and then we'll begin another. IC is moving...and I'm looking for someone to keep it moving. If interested, please post a note on the IC talk page--experienced and successful users only need apply. Ability to say "ARRRRR" like a pirate is not required, but would be nice. User:Why do I need to provide this?/sig10 15:55, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

Also you don't need to make this story high on this list--this notice has been sent to all the IC members, and they're the main ones I want to see it. But I do want it in USP in case there's some great user our there who's not already a member of IC. Although I doubt if there is. We have all the best, except possibly one user. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  17:39, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

Puppy, also I wasn't thinking--instead of "To apply, contact Why do I need to provide this? on his talk page" I wanted people to post a note on the IC talk page. That's not your fault--I had changed my mind on the version seen by IC members, but forgot to change it here. As it's a template, could that be changed? If it's too much trouble or would violate some policy or other don't bother--as I said it's my fault anyone. But in case it can be done, the link where I'd like applicants to post (in order to keep the IC history together and to let IC members see what's going on) is http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/Uncyclopedia_talk:Imperial_Colonization#Imperial_Colonization_Buccaneer_Admiral_walking_the_plank.21 King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? My paid work at the moment is selling advertising space to employers who are looking to recruit staff, and part of that is writing professional job adverts. I've been trying to work that out - will I be equal nine with Cajek and Tagsit still equal ten, or does ten drop out because there are two nines? Puppy Saturday, 04:41, Mar 20 2010 UTC
Generally in lists like this, you count people. You would put up a minimum of 10. If two people are tied for 9th place, then there essentially is no 10th--the next one in line would actually be 11th because there are 10 people ahead of them/it. Good review - agree that a text box would be a good addition, but unfortunately Wikimedia limits the capacity to include it - however it has given me an idea. Actually, I don't care why it doesn't work. What I want to ask is: What works?! Spıke ¬ 01:34 24-Mar-10

{{USERNAME}} has a tendency to screw with stuff like that. Are you doing this as a template or something? The quickest solution I have is - if it's on a talk page - User:Puppy/Sandbox will work. Puppy Wednesday, 01:43, Mar 24 2010 UTC

Yes; assuming approval, it will go into a template, replacing the blurb you see when you prepare to create a new UnNews story; mock-up in User:SPIKE/New article intro. In production, the BASEPAGENAME will not be the user name. Spıke ¬ 01:54 24-Mar-10

I'll have another look at it later, but there's no simple answer coming to the top of my head - not a problem I've tried to overcome before, except maybe when I was coding Microsoft Knowledge Base, but there I eventually worked out a work-around for what I was after - I think. Puppy Wednesday, 02:03, Mar 24 2010 UTC
Actually, thinking about it a second longer - I think the template you're talking about is a subst: template. Just do <includeonly>subst:</includeonly>{{USERNAME}} and you should be sorted. Puppy Wednesday, 02:06, Mar 24 2010 UTC
Nope - I'm stuffed. Short of changing the site's js, I can't think of a solution. Puppy Wednesday, 03:18, Mar 24 2010 UTC

BASEPAGENAME indeed doesn't have the weird effects that USERNAME does. But, at least in a page in my userspace, the formulation above doesn't solve the problem. It might, once installed inside a template. Spıke ¬ 02:21 24-Mar-10

That doesn't work, and I should have realised that - stoopid puppy. I'll see if there's another option that I can work out for you, but username is not technically a magic word/variable, so there's limits to what I can do with it. Puppy Wednesday, 03:01, Mar 24 2010 UTC

Well, I went to sleep for a while, but I see you didn't. Let me ask the question a different way. In the instructions that guide a new user to create an UnNews story, is there a way for me to code a link that will open an edit window to a document in his own userspace? If not, I see that there is an article in mainspace called Sandbox that I could dump him into. Spıke ¬ 09:45 24-Mar-10

I'm a moron - what you want is this. Sorry it took me so long. Puppy Wednesday, 10:34, Mar 24 2010 UTC

Yes, that is exactly what you want! But thanks much for all the work in the meantime! Spıke ¬ 11:45 24-Mar-10

There's a couple of ways it can be done. PNG allows you to use transparent sections, and depending on the browser may even be able to handle semi-transparency. GIF allows you to use semi-transparency and animation. I usually use GIMP to edit most of my images - it's free and there's a significant amount of help online on how to use it. Most image editors will support transparency (MS paint being a noticeable exception) and there are other ones that will handle animation. If you need more of a tute I could probably do something but it would take a while. Puppy Friday, 02:55, Mar 26 2010 UTC

Upsilon Sigma Sigma March Newsletter[edit source]

Upsilonsigmasigmacrest.PNG

March's collaboration on Nintendo, our first as a group went really well. You can drift on over to check it out in mainspace. Now onto frat business and stuff. First of all, we need to determine as a group a few things in terms of our monthly collaboration; will it really be a 'monthly' collab, or should we not stick to such a rigid timeframe? Secondly, we need to figure out how we're going to determine future collab projects. Currently we're voting on April's project, but we need to decide if we're going to vote at the end of each month for the following month's project, or if we're going to adopt a rolling queue like IC currently has. I'm leaning more towards the rolling queue idea, but I'd like to get a consensus on the subject. In order to vote on this, go here. I would like to take the time to point out that we are not IC; in fact we're kind of the opposite, whereas they take crap and turn it into slightly better crap, we create the crap that people want the most. Along these lines, any member of the frat is encouraged to contribute to each months collab, not matter how big or small. There aren't really any rules in terms of how we tackle these collabs, so the structure will kind of just spring up.

Ok, the second part of the frat of course is the individual creation of pages from the requested articles list. None of us, myself included, have called dibs on, started, or created any of these pages. I want to stress that this is just as an important part of our group as the monthly collaboration. I hope to make an individual article of my own in April from the list, and I encourage all of you to do the same.

Third, the lesser third pillar of our group, pee reviewing. I would just encourage you guys if you feel like it to go ahead and do an in-depth pee review or two in April.

Well, I think the start of Upsilon Sigma Sigma has gone rather well considering most groups don't get off the ground too well here, and it's all thanks to Aleister in Chains and Pelargonium, who both contributed to Nintendo. Without them, I feel the group wouldn't have gone very far, so please pop over to Frat Bro of the Month at some point and give them a shout out. Also, please feel free to browse the various sections of the group (I spent a bunch of time creating the frat page), and be sure to check the news tab from time to time, I'll be updating that regularly. I'm really looking forward to working with you all in the coming months in making some quality requested articles! --Sir Skinfan13 Talk {< CUN RotM FBotM VFH ΥΣΣ Maj. SK >} 22:19 EST 29 March, 2010

You do gifs, right?[edit source]

And what is the truth?

I want to make an image that stands for Multi's Summit of spin, like how Skinfan's USS has their coat of arms, DU has their black cross on red background, etc. Since the "group" is focused on spin, I'd like to make a gif that has something spinning. However, I don't know how to make gifs. Could you do it? Necropaxx (T) {~} Friday, 22:30, Apr 2 2010

Throw some images at me of what you have in mind. I'll see what I can do. Nominally Humane! some time Friday, 22:35, Apr 2 2010 UTC
OK, I'm thinking that in the gif it'll start out with the text in the image (I just liked how the font looked), then spin so it becomes a blur (like Mordillo's Jewriken.GIF) then when it stops spinning, it'll turn into "lies" (I couldn't find a matching image, but you get the idea), and then spin back again into truth. Is that doable? Thanks, POTR. Necropaxx (T) {~} Saturday, 00:16, Apr 3 2010
I'll see what I can get done, but RL is making things a little limited at the moment. Nominally Humane! some time Saturday, 00:33, Apr 3 2010 UTC
Okay, the background is annoying me, so I'm likely to scrap it. Second issue is size - the illusion works a lot better if it's a smaller image, but I'm assuming we also want it larger as well for the home page, etc. Animated Gifs don't like changing size on wiki, so I'll have to make a few different sizes worth. I'm thinking 400 x 400 px, 100 x 100 and 25 x 25 just to give us a few different options. This won't work well as part of a sig though, as the shape of it will have to be circular, and that means at 12 px the text will be barely legible, if at all. There's a few technical challenges I have to overcome. Oh, and the final result will be fairly monochromatic, as too much colour will ruin the effect. I'm having fun with it though. Nominally Humane! some time Saturday, 06:16, Apr 3 2010 UTC
Oh, that's fine, I mean for it to be a logo, not part of a sig. Glad you're having fun, I can't wait to see the finished product! Necropaxx (T) {~} Saturday, 07:26, Apr 3 2010

UotM[edit source]

Congrats on winning UotM! Now you have every serious award I've got, and one I don't. OK, so maybe I don't yet qualify for that one yet. Still, I never should have nommed you if you were going to win. But I got my UotM andUGotM first! Pffffft! (Seriously, congrats!) King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  04:30, April 3, 2010 (UTC)

Also I think you should know I'm feeling depressed. I made a big deal about getting 4,000 edits, 3,000 edits, etc., and was going to make a really big deal about 5,000. But I lost count and went over 5,000 without even realizing. Now I learned that I just went over 6,000 and didn't recognize that either. So what I want to know is, what can I do to fight this awful depression over missing milestones? And are they really that important to recognize? And if they aren't, then why am I making something that's completely unimportant so important to me? Does it really matter to me? Really, I guess it really isn't that important to me after all. Say, I think I'm better now. And it's all because of you. Gee, thanks! King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  06:13, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

I'm glad I could help. Nominally Humane! some time Sunday, 22:58, Apr 4 2010 UTC

Moar coding help[edit source]

Hey POTR, sorry to bug you again, but I'm having a small issue with a template I created. I wanted to make a badge for articles that come out of Summit of spin, and it's working fine (Oh, yeah, I guess I should give a link: {{Summit of spin badge}}), but I'm having an issue with the title text of the badge. The code is there, just like it is in {{FA}}, but for some reason the title-text ain't showing up. Do you think you could take a look at it, see what's making it misbehave? Thanks. Necropaxx (T) {~} Monday, 00:18, Apr 5 2010

Thanks again! Necropaxx (T) {~} Monday, 00:27, Apr 5 2010
You've did it right - didn't close the div, but that's fixed. The problem is with the way wikimedia does titles on images - it works sometimes and doesn't others. I've added in a minor hack that will make the image unclickable but adds the title onto a div that is laid on top of the image. I can add a link back into that later if we need to as well. Nominally Humane! some time Monday, 00:30, Apr 5 2010 UTC
Yeah, could you add the link? I was freaking out a little when it wasn't working. Necropaxx (T) {~} Monday, 00:32, Apr 5 2010
I'll have to come back to it - brain has ceased functioning properly for some odd reason. Nominally Humane! some time Monday, 00:40, Apr 5 2010 UTC
Ah, thank you, it's working great! Necropaxx (T) {~} Monday, 04:23, Apr 5 2010

I told you it would happen. You get your name in the top ten membership of Pee Reviews, you'd knock out some long-sitting members. Oh boy, are you in trouble now. (Seriously, congrats. I am not a whore, really. It's just that I had several features this month, including Game:Alone in the dark, (not to be confused with the article I wrote, Alone in the Dark, which hasn't been nommed for feature yet), Lateral thinking puzzle, (not to be confused with my earlier feature, Lateral Thinking), and Tropical cyclone. I also had Chatroulette nommed for highlight but it got voted down due to lack of images - and issue which I have hopefully fixed now - and a few other minor issues. But the three features I had in March (not to be confused with the other 16 features I had previously - a complete list of which can be found in the Hall of Shame towards the top), and the half feature that I had with Creationism (which was done as part of Imperial Colonization, and is not to be confused with my earlier feature of Intelligent Mathematics) are all up for nomination as part of this months top ten. But nobody could accuse me of being a vote whore or attention seeking, especially when I also managed to get into the top ten of all time PEE reviewers last month, along with getting awarded UotM. Nominally Humane! some time Monday, 09:22, Apr 5 2010 UTC
Why, thank you sir for depressing me. I've been here for fourteen fucking months, wrote four FAs and six non FAs, been generally nice and helpful towards almost everyone (yea, 2 or 3 exceptions) and HAVEN'T WON A SINGLE FUCKING AWARD YET. That and the fact that I have given uncyclopedia most of my time, in a way that severely affected my performance at college; my future. FTM, Robert Mitchum, Kirk Douglas, Peter O’Toole, Richard Burton, recognized as some of the great actors of American film, never won America's Academy Award (Oscar) (Kirk Douglas did get an honorary Oscar). Mohandas Gandhi was widely recognized as being one of the major forces for peace in the entire 20th century, but never won the Nobel Peace Prize. Henry Fonda finally got an Oscar right before he died. So don't give up! King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court)  00:21, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
Albert Einstein never got Playboy bunny of the month. Joe Di Maggio was never given the Nobel prize for literature. Madonna still hasn't won a Pulitzer prize. And yet, Barack Obama won the Nobel peace prize. The prizes mean nothing really - After all, apparently Bi-curious George is still apparently a better illustrated article according to PLS then Microsoft Knowledge Base. Nominally Humane! some time Tuesday, 00:36, Apr 6 2010 UTC
Albert Einstein was scheduled to be Playmate of the Month for March 1955, following Betty Page (January) and Jayne Mansfield (February). But he became ill with what eventually led in April 1955 to internal bleeding caused by the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Knowing they wouldn't get Einstein to pose, Playboy did something it had never done before nor since--it skipped an issue.

wasting your life... Bollocks. What have I gotten out of Uncyc? Entertainment maybe, but awards - who really cares? Honestly, during the day I normally work in a low paying job doing fairly dull work. But this here, it's my outlet. The point of life is not what you get, but what you leave behind. If the world becomes a better place from my asinine ramblings here, then none of this is a waste of my life. Nominally Humane! some time Tuesday, 06:31, Apr 6 2010 UTC
But in my case, I might have an exciting, high-paying job awaiting me, and I'm wasting this opportunity being here all the time.. The problem is, I fell in love with this place, I can't leave. Necropaxx or CheddarBBQ can tell you how many times I said I was going to leave for good - 10 times or so, only to come back two days later.. I'm addicted, mate.. FreddThe Metalhedd 22px-Flag_of_Egypt.png 18px-Foxicon.png 07:34 • Tuesday, 6-04-2010
I had the exciting, high powered job - I'm now happier and more at peace with myself. The reason I'm on a partial hiatus is due to the death of a family member - rich, powerful CEO of a significant finance company. Died in his late 40s due to stress related issues. I'm happier now than I ever was climbing the corporate ladder. I'm not saying don't go for the high paying role - I'm saying that the life you make for yourself should be filled with joy and laughter. Can I stop being serious now? Please? Nominally Humane! some time Tuesday, 08:55, Apr 6 2010 UTC

BOOBS!! Well, smoking DOES relieve stress.. I've just burned a couple ciggarettes, and I feel much better. For now.. So again, BOOBS!! FreddThe Metalhedd 22px-Flag_of_Egypt.png 18px-Foxicon.png 10:02 • Tuesday, 6-04-2010
