Uncyclopedia talk:Der Unwehr
Any good usergroup page needs a discussion page. Also on a serious note, you havent offered us a usebox. Userboxes are good advertising if nothing else. Go make a userbox. ~Orian57~ ~Talk~ 22:13 18 May 2009

she said. If you need me to, I can make it. I've made at least 5 or more userboxes already (see my page). You'ld have to supply a pic though. And if I got a point for it, that would be cool too. Puttano 22:21,18May,2009
Two points I'd like you to keep in mind[edit source]
First, please be careful with slapping various maintenance tags around. And second, I'm not sure what's the intention of "liquidation of memes?" ~ 22:43, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
- This is somebody who is completely out of the know, but I took it to mean the removal of unnecessary memes — that is, any meme thrown into an article for the sake of "filling" it (which is most of them) — to be replaced with funny, relevant, original jokes in their stead. I assume that the exception would be articles that are written about a particular meme or ones that use a meme as a specific narrative device. — 23:51, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
- Mitch Hedberg. It's almost like 4chan threw up on a single page of Uncyc. But yeah, take a look at that and then you'll know what Guildy means by "liquidation of memes." 05:59, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I'd like him to respond to that. ~ 06:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Basically what Knee [anti-Communist sign] Chee said. The removal of unnecessary memes. Articles on memes can stay, I suppose, but things like Mitch Hedberg the unnecessary 4chan horseshit must DIE. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 13:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I'd like him to respond to that. ~ 06:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
How's This?[edit source]

Der Unwehr uber alles[edit source]
Personally, I liked the usage of "jugend" since that resembled the small article that needed to be nurtured. But I don't care either way.
Some notes: the introduction seems a bit overlong to me, some of the joke (don't forget "ruthless efficiency") intended by the image of the rewriting group could be put into the first section following the introduction, in a more "in-depth" description of the group's intentions. Going with the military theme, are images (presuming they'll be added) going to be depicted as such? As for the "dibs", I'd really rather not have to say I'm "reserving" something that anyone can edit anyway. In the same vein, I wouldn't use any "this article has been targeted by Der Unwehr" templates or as such. Just so you know.
Well, I'm going to start my first rewrite already. Also, I presume all rewrites done before joining the group are not to be added to the list? I think it's fair not to, since that means anyone can take advantage of the incentive intended by the group. --
00:14, 19 May 2009 (UTC)- I think the military theme works best as a sort of foil to IC, which is what I'd like this group to be to an extent. And, although short, I think the description of the group's intentions works just fine. I also agree with you in not having gratuitous templates. The one that Cheddar made suffices, and I'm thinking of having Sonje (or whomever wants to) make an award-ish template for every rank above Brigadegeneral. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 14:00, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
One thing(s)[edit source]
Is there going to be any imperative to put things on VFD or QVFD? I think that having a table with successful deletions made by each member would encourage that, but still keep the main focus of rewriting stuff.
03:45, 19 May 2009 (UTC)- I think that would be the absolute opposite of what the group means to do. In the same way that a PEE reviewer can't just nominate an article for deletion, no matter how bad s/he said the article was in the review. Besides, I hate seeing articles deleted. --
- same here Puttano 19:10,19May,2009
- Yeah. I mean, ideally, there wouldn't be a need to delete any articles (vanity and the like excluded), because somebody would have taken the time to make it humo(u)rous in the first place. —
- I concur. I talked to Saberwolf, who is the VFD master, about him possibly taking the role of "Chief of the Uncycpo." Instead of just VFD every shitty article he comes across, I asked him if he could slap a rewrite tag on stuff that has rewrite potential, like Alternative Rock and Bob Marley. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 14:02, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm...well, i'll think about it guildy, but I think putting stuff on VFD and having it deleted isn't that bad. Usually, if a notable subject is deleted, it's recreated- sometimes it's just better to start with a clean slate. But I suppose I will help you. You have to make a custom template for me, though ;) Saberwolf116 22:05, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

- Does it count if you're rewriting your own article? Puttano 02:54,26May,2009
- It depends. If it's exactly how you left it and you rewrite it, you get no credit. However, if your shitty article has been totally butchered by IPs or something, and is totally different from your original shitty version, then you'd get credit as normal because it's no longer "your article," per se. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 03:11, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Emblems[edit source]

- I don't think it seems Nazi-ish. Just German in general. People just link Germany to Nazism. It's not like they're saying "Kill the jewish articles." Puttano 19:22,16June,2009
- Yes, notice why I said "homages" and not "statements." If you want it to be German, then you could perhaps restructure it to reflect modern day Germany, old Prussia, or the Weimar Republic. Right now you've got subliminal Nazi Germany down to a T: the colors, the flag, and even the "Crush the Communists!" --

OK, so, yes, I understand that not everyone is a fan of the whole Nazi look to Der Unwehr, but it's not done in seriousness, mind you all, it's a parody just like anything else on this site. The title of UnFuehrer that I "boldly parade around" is a pun of sorts. At worst it can be interpreted as "Uncyclopedia Leader," and at best "Un-Leader," so there. The military ranks used are no worse than the ones that IC uses, and all the other titles have no Nazi analog at all. So there. The group's emblem is an Iron Cross, which may seem a bit Nazi-ish until you realize it predates the Nazis by several hundred years. In regards to the question of changing templates etc., they're all made, and I for one think Cheddar did a fuckin' awesome job, and I'm not about to ask him to redo everything because someone's overly-tender disposition has been offended by something that is clearly a parody. —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 13:24, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Why should I become a member?[edit source]
Actually, that's a bogus question, as the answer is on the main page. I just needed an excuse to write on here, which as I've just pointed out that that is a bogus question, that screws up that excuse.
Where is Rosencrantzencrantz? Is he dead?
Having said that however I was out shopping recently and came across these in my local shopping centre chemist. I thought you might appreciate them. (Iron cross, red cross, what's the difference Pup really?)
Articles already completed before you joined[edit source]
I'm just wondering if articles that you wrote before you joined can count towards the victory count. Because I wrote articles for Selling coal to Newcastle and Alien abduction insurance just yesterday and today after seeing them on the requested articles page, but I didn't join this group until just now. So yeah, just wondering. Sequence 14:25, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Another Kwick Kwestion...[edit source]
When we are rewriting articles, are we allowed to write something about the subject material, but under a different name, and then redirect the original article to the new page? For example, I am going to rewrite Bowling, but have a good idea for an UnBooks about the subject Matter. Is that okay? Carnies[edit source]
Checked on your story at Pee Review. I don't think it works. Ok I understand what you have done but suggest the historical background doesn't really add anything to the article as it stands. That could be at best abbreviated. Been thinking a teeny bit about DU... I've been looking at the list of vital pages, and there's a fair few redlinks and a fair few of those that aren't redlinks are... well, frankly, crap. I'm thinking that a DU week where people get bonus points for either writing one of those articles or rewriting a bad one. Something like a Vitality week? What do you think? Pup 22:22, 9/02/2010
