Benninghoff Vincent "Ed" McMahon, Jr. (March 6, 1923 – June 23, 2009) was an American comedian, supermodel and legendary gangster. He is most famous for smugggling Publishers' Clearing House Sweepstakes into Cuba in attempt to relieve Cuba's gross deficiency in junk mail.
Early years[edit | edit source]
When the lure of international diplomacy wore off, he changed his name to Vince McMahon, Sr. and moved to Greenwich, Connectthedots. For years McMahon struggled to build a upstart wrestling promotional enterprise which eventually taken over by his sons Vince McMahon and Ted Turner. After a legal dispute with the FBI in 1976 over the distribution of Anabolic Steroids at live events, McMahon was banished to the state of West Virginia where he continued to wrestle his building empire, the WWF, with his business partner Jim Hellwig.
The Dark Years[edit | edit source]
The 1980s were known as the dark period for wrestling fans. Huge technical wrestling talents like Hulk Hogan and Jim "the Anvil" Neidhart were mired in the midcard while inferior talents like Tito Santana and Dink the Clown received major pushes. Business was down and the companies stock hit an all time low of $1.16 a share which was just plain bitchin'.
The Golden Era[edit | edit source]
It was not until the early 1990s that the world renowned tag team "The Powers of Pain" jumpstarted the wresting scene. The team of Kevin Nash and Psycho Sid wowed fans from coast to coast with a finesse and technical skill not seen since the days of the legendary Marcus "Buff" Bagwell on NWA fame in the early 1900s. Their title reign was cut short when Kevin Nash fractured his tibia sidelining him for the most watched event in wresting history (Wrestlemania III). An wrestler known only as "Test" was thought to carry the torch left by Nash, but his career was irrelevant due to his association with the Brazillian Mafia, known as the NWO or to some fans within the cow community mooo mooo NWO.
