Forum:Poo Lit Surprise Status
the most recent edition of our prestigious writing competition ended in august '08...six months ago. when is the next one? who ran the last one? 19:28, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- IIRC I ran the last one. The chances of me running the next one: Zilch. We'll have to look for someone else - hey, how about that Gerrycheevers? – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 19:32 Feb 20, 2009
- HOLY GOD WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!? don't sneak up on me like that again, ok? 19:43, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, look at that, Gerrycheevers went all capitalized over Dr. Skullthumper. -Sockpuppet of an unregistered user 21:50, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

- I was about to ask this myself, actually, since PLS seems like a great response to the "dwindling amounts of writers" thing. If no-one else has a burning desire to run it, I could do it if you want. –—Hv (talk) 20/02 20:34
- Seems like you just volunteered. You got two weeks, otherwise I will track you down and kill you and if you need my help let me know ~ 21:24, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- what the hell did I just see Mordillo being nice in small text what the hell – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 21:31 Feb 20, 2009
- cool, thanks hv, and good luck, i am willing to help also. i was also going to ask about conservation week, but i guess we can do that after the PLS is wrapped up. 21:35, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Honestly though, who'd date that piece of shit? – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 21:32 Feb 20, 2009
- interesting, thanks for the update. last i saw PLS was 'it's complicated' with FFW. 21:34, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Early call for judges
May as well get this started now, so that this doesn't take months to prepare for: Anyone who wants to judge any of the categories, just give the word below (remember you can't enter the category you are judging, you can however enter the other categories you are eligible for). –—Hv (talk) 20/02 22:09
- i would be honored to be a judge. 22:11, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hooray, we have our first judge! You can pick your category here, just put your sig next to the first judge number of the category you want to judge. –—Hv (talk) 20/02 22:17
- I need to be a judge in order to fill my resume. -
- I can judge, providing I can enter one as well.--Sycamore (Talk) 10:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- If you judge, you can enter in all categories except the one you are judging (and best noob, obviously). –—Hv (talk) 21/02 10:14
- Damm, I had hopes for writing best noob article!--Sycamore (Talk) 10:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- And you would have got away with it too, if it wasn't...nah, can't do that joke. So what category d'you want? –—Hv (talk) 21/02 10:45
- I don't mind too much maybe best article or best namespace?--Sycamore (Talk) 11:44, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's your pick - just fill your name in on that link up a bit when you've decided. –—Hv (talk) 21/02 12:10
- 'Ang on, I thought the "judges entering other categories" thing went a bit controversial last time, and a discussion I hazily recall and lizily can't be arsed to find had a vague consensus to not do that again in future. This being what was then the future, doesn't that mean we should not be doing that? --UU - natter 19:39, Feb 21
- UU's right - there was an agreement not to use the "judges can enter except in the category they are judging" rule ever again. If you're a judge, you're a judge only, and you can't enter the contest. – Sir Skullthumper, MD (criticize • writings • critchat) 19:42 Feb 21, 2009
- I remembered something right? Does this mean I'm not senile yet? Hah, in your face ageing process! --UU - natter 19:45, Feb 21
- [EC] [Grr double edit conflict] /me reads. Yup, that was the consensus - I'll go change the stuff. Gerry, Syc, if you want to change your minds, go ahead. The only thing I'm thinking now is how hard will it be getting fifteen experienced people who don't want to participate but want to judge. –—Hv (talk) 21/02 19:47
- Sadly I'll probably have to discount myself because of this, I'm keen to enter my own work - I have felt that judges entering was a bit off, I think however we'll have the problem of having weaker judges.--Sycamore (Talk) 14:01, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- I thought it would be kinda interesting if previous winners who are still active judged the category they won last time. No way to really enforce it, so it's just a suggestion, but it might net a few judges to start with? --UU - natter 19:56, Feb 21
- That's a decent idea; looking at last time's winners - Modus is active, Mickey and Cap'n Ben are there a bit and the other two haven't been here for a while, so that's 1-3 more if they agree, which would help. –—Hv (talk) 21/02 20:01
- Maybe next time. I've judged a bunch of times already. Every time, in a odd coincidence, I voted for a mystery IP who was not a sockpuppet of me. Obviously. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 22:05, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- I would like to be a judge, seeing as it's near impossible for me to write anything on demand, but I can criticize people's work on demand. Is this OK? • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} 22:01, Feb 21

- Heh, I thought you'd wonder about that. I spent two weeks reading archives in Janurary. I know all there is to know about PLS that was catalougued, and I've memorised every writing tip in the book (see, I was gonna try for NotM, but my account hit one-month status before I got good at writing). Don't worry, rest assured that I am familiar with every Award at Uncyclopedia and how they are earned. Sir Not A Good Username360 KUN 01:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

- Um, yeah? THINKER; my statements take priority. Especially when its to say that I'm taking this competition upon myself yet again to ensure a fair and competent judging because the rest of the site is either too lazy or wants to compete. I run shit around here. You just live here. :) --THINKER 15:49, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

I'll judge whatever again. --
20:32, 2 March 2009 (UTC)- Rewrites it is, since that's the last thing left... and we have all our judges! Thank goodness for that. –—Hv (talk) 2/03 20:40
I have a bigger headline
And I can do mainspace. By "do" I don't mean taking it out for dinner and buying it drinks only to make sure that I can shag it later on, I mean judge articles under that category. ~ 13:53, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Hey, me too!
Just as a side thought (I sometimes get those, you know), if not enough judges sign up, am I allowed to judge more than one category? • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} 16:37, Feb 26
- For now, I'm going to say no, for no more reason than that variety is the spice of life (very tasty on potato wedges, btw). but if anyone has a good argument and/or there's still less than about ten by a week on Saturday, I'm open for argument there. –—Hv (talk) 26/02 20:31
Question
The PLS rules state that "Articles created prior to the competition cannot be submitted."
Does that go only for mainspace, or for everywhere? If I started writing an article in userspace right now, would it be disqualified? If I started writing an article in Microsoft Word right now, would it be disqualified?
19:53, 21 February 2009 (UTC)- Yeah, it'd be disqualified, according to the rules you're not allowed to start until the PLS officially opens (which, if we get the judges, is pegged for the 9th of March right now). –—Hv (talk) 21/02 19:56
- And he'll come over to your house and check your Microsoft Word files personally. ;-) --UU - natter 19:59, Feb 21
