3. User:Composure1/The Watch Men
4. User:Guildensternenstein/Dungeons & Dragons: Real Life Edition: Character Races
5. User:DrStrange/Godzilla vs. Vaginus

Notes: I tried to review these earlier today. However, judging from the titles, I was only confident that four of them were work safe. (In retrospect Childhood: an essay could have gone either way.) More notes: It was very hard to separate Childhood: an essay and Plink for the top spot. Neither was laugh out loud funny, but both were witty, well written satires. If this had been a general short story competition, I would have given it to Plink; as a comedy competition, I gave it to Childhood, which I found more amusing. Watch Men - took a decidedly unpromising concept and somehow made it work. D&D - Hm. Wasn't sure if it was making fun of the intrinsic racism in D&D, just an excuse for a bunch of ethnic jokes or both. Either way, it has its charm. Vaginus - nice little send up of Japanese pop culture; kaiju + hentai. I would have ranked it higher if it had topped Godzilla vs. Urethra. Paedometer - weak concept and too random. Charles Lindenburg - okay this annoyed me. I really liked the concept, but there's nothing there but a stub.

Best Noob Article[edit | edit source]

2.User:GlobalTourniquet/Alfred_Hitchcock
3.User:Tagstit/My_Girl's_Best_Friend
4.User:Guildensternenstein/Dungeons & Dragons: Real Life Edition: Character Classes
5.User:CheddarBBQ/Thin_Mints

My Thoughts: Thin Mints was a wall of text but I can see the comedic potential. Dungeon and Dragons is only funny for the character blurbs. My Best Friend's Girl is like a blog post, there's not enough to go around. Alfred Hitchcock is nicely constructed but it needs more absurd humor. And I enjoyed the UN Fat Project solely for the fat puns. I enjoyed it so much I thought it deserved the number 1 spot.

5.User:Mahm00shA/Nile (band)

Notes: It seems as if many entrants tried to use inside jokes rather than real humor- many of the articles weren't very funny, or had maybe one or two funny parts. Therefore, I judged based on how many humorous parts were in the articles, and how funny said parts were. Still, I strongly suggest running these articles through Pee Review after the competition- all of these articles show great potential, and I look forward to seeing these ideas reach their full potential.

4.User:GlobalTourniquet/HowTo:Write Serj Tankian Lyrics
5.User:So So/poetry and jap chicks archive

Notes: Monika's UnNews struck me as slightly dry and confusing in the beginning, but wound up coming to a solid, humorous conclusion. Modus's UnMovie review had some good lines, but was short. Plus, I think some of the references went over my head. DrStrange's article had its moments, but relied too much on the absurdity of the situation without having a lot of defined punchlines. GlobalTourniquet's page struck me as having fallen into the HowTo trap of being overly template-y, and seemed generic because of it. Plus, I think a lot of the humor relies on knowing SOAD's lyrics, which I'm not really familiar with. The other 2 articles were incomplete, so I award my 5th place sport to So So's Poetry and Jap Chicks archive which, despite not being eligible for this competition by any stretch of the imagination, actually has a reasonable amount of content which has in turns made me both amused and horny.

1.User:GlobalTourniquet/HowTo:Write Serj Tankian Lyrics - Surprising that I like it, but I do!
2.(TIE) User:Modusoperandi/UnMovie Review: Watchmen (with special guests, the Watchmen) Clever, clever!
2.(TIE) User:DrStrange/Why?:Be a transvestite if you're not going to put any effort into it? Could have won if it was more concise.
4.User:Monika/UnNews:Obama unveils education reform plans - Too dense and it drifted in too many directions. If this is an Unnews article, it lacking a news lead and needed an opening paragraph.
Not judged. User:A.Z?123/HowTo:Become A Politician - Unfinished, unjudged.

Best Illustrated[edit | edit source]

1. User:DrStrange/Economic Collapse Barbie®
2. User:Modusoperandi/Karl Lagerfeld
3. User:Mhaille/Eadweard Muybridge, Zoopraxographer
It was quite hard to decide the winner, but I had to give it to DrStrange, mostly because his images are so well done and his article seems most in the spirit of Best Illustrated when compared to the others. I liked Modus's a lot also, but I felt it might have been better for another category. Mhaille's was amusing too, but I didn't think it could stand up to the others. All of the entries were excellent, however. - UnIdiot | GUN.png | Talk | Contribs - 02:04, Mar 30

1. User:Sycamore/Money - Good: Some nice jokes sprinkled throughout. Bad: I feel it could have been longer and more in-depth.
2. User:GlobalTourniquet/Oscars - Good: Much better than the original article. Bad: Very attacky and listy.
3. User:Zheliel/L - Good: Much better than the original. Bad: Random, unfocused.
4. User:15Mickey20/Claude Debussy - Good: Starts out great, esp. the first picture caption. Bad: Had a chance to be very classy, and just isn't. Drills joke into the ground.
5. User:Sonic80/HowTo:Online Jihad - Good: A nice-sounding concept. Bad: I thought the original was actually better. :(
