French[edit source]
Hi Max, I'm interested in doing some work to the French entry but I note that "This page has been locked so that only registered users can edit it."
Does this mean I can edit it, or not? If I do edit it, is someone going to summarily revert it?
Thanks, Blind Pugh 17:20, January 1, 2012 (UTC)
- It's blocked for IPs and new editors but you should be able to edit it. If not, I can unprotected it so you can work on it. MadMax 07:46, January 2, 2012 (UTC)
Yo MadMax[edit source]
Hello. And goodta holidays to you. I've seen the categories creation and all of that, and am wondering, ah, why? The newest one, Canadian Journalists, made me look to see if the person listed was also listed under category Journalists, and he wasn't. As with so many of these, why the subdividing into categories where Journalists would have covered it fine. It may be a little late to bring this up. But it seems we will have a category per topic, and nobody will be able to find anything. Did I miss a decision somewhere? I'm asking because I enjoy categorizing things, and have seen many categories crumble and fall away into broken pieces, so it is hard to know where to put things now. Aleister 12:30 Russian Christmas '12
- p.s. And you moved Wayne Gretzky out of the Hockey category. Wayne Gretzky? I must drink myself to sleep, please call the paramedics and ask them to bring me more of the good stuff.
- Well the categories have been a bit of a mess for a long time. Category:North America, for example, had literally 1,000+ articles. A lot of them, mostly UnNews stories, didn't have anything to do with North America but were dumped there because the authors just copied the bottom sample categories when creating a story. And it can get really tough for people with low-end computers (myself included) to wade through categories that have hundreds of articles. I'm just going by Wikipedia's system but if you know a better way I'd appreciate it. MadMax 12:52, January 7, 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to be a crybaby, which is what I am in real life (and make good money for it too!). Oh, jeez, of course if a cat has many hundreds, some of them are kind of weird (category:People). I guess I'm just saying that smaller cats, and logical ones, like Hockey, that Gretzky could be in there too. Last year I was worried that Lyrthirya or whatever the name is was going to start dividing picture cats into sub-cats and submerge them, but she was distracted by baubles. I just looked at Category:People who didn't fuck your mom in the kitchen last night, and laughed thinking that when you get to it it will be divided up into "American people who didn't fuck your mom in the kitchen last night" etc. With the cats with hundreds of entries, you are doing a great job. I know Puppy was starting a Vital category, and that's one which would be very vaulable to the wiki. These others, besides searching for images I don't even know if anybody ever looks at them. I'm rambling, and most go look for food soon. Good to "see" you again, Aleister 13:00 Russian Christmas '12
- Actually, the regional categories on UnNews were used to group the UnNews stories by region on the UnNews by region pages, or whatever they were. Admittedly I don't think anyone ever entirely got around to setting that up properly, but that was why the things were there. That said, regional categories specific to UnNews might make more sense in general. ~ 17:07, 7 January 2012
- Well I try not to go overboard with it. :) I found Wayne Gretzky through the Canadians category while I was moving the hockey players to here. I didn't notice that the main Hockey category had only 30 or so articles. I tend to merge related categories (e.g. Canadians and Hockey to Canadian hockey players) so I don't have to go back and edit it more than once. Feel free to move it back if you think its necessary. It's great to see you (and Lyrithya) around the site again. MadMax 15:01, January 8, 2012 (UTC)
TAW[edit source]
Strangely enough, I seem to have finally come up with an idea of what to write. Unfortunately, I am only half finished and have to leave for a bit, so I'm not sure if I'll be back before the clock hits 12 and it becomes Jan. 10. Mind if I have an extra 12-16 hours to finish my work? --Sir Oliphaunte (განხილვა) 16:33, January 9, 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks for being silent about it. Here's your 20$. Out of curiosity, when you create a page redirecting to another as you sometimes do, does that count as an article regarding the stats we see on the frontpage (which is at like 30K right now)? Mattsnow 21:48, January 12, 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, that's a good question. I assume it's counted separately like Categories but I could be wrong. MadMax 21:54, January 12, 2012 (UTC)
- But basically you're adding categories and redirects. How do you know which pages need it? (Yes I'm curious!) Mattsnow 21:56, January 12, 2012 (UTC)
- I usually use Special:UncategorizedPages or this list. As for redirects I browse the huff log or Special:WantedPages. MadMax 00:46, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

Pakistan[edit source]
Spike alerted me that you have restored the 2006 version of this article after the last one was huffed by RAHB. I restored Spike's last edited version to my pages for now. I think this is one of those subjects that does need an article to fill the space. Perhaps the good bits of either can be melded together. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 07:52, January 13, 2012 (UTC)

At Forum:Ask me about my stubby thingy it has been suggested and seconded that we trim UN:REQ. It's also been suggested that it's possibly too big a job. As that seems to be your baby, your input would be appreciated. Pup 01:41 13 Jan '12
Hello[edit source]
Hello, and a tip of o hat to ya. I noticed you were setting your eyes on composers. There are only 76 of them. Do they have to be segmented? Not very many to gather together and compose. Aleister 4:42 15-1-'12
- Actually I'm just fixing some of the Composer templates. I'm not removing any from the main "Composer" category. MadMax 04:46, January 15, 2012 (UTC)

I am Just Curious About Uncyclopedia's Lack of Advertisements?[edit source]
I've noticed this site lacks in any noticeable advertisements especially on the top and sides but ocassionally on the not-so-noticeable bottoms of the site's pages. Why is that the case? I am surprised this site can host over 10,000 articles with its apparent lack of any ads. Unlike your mean competitor satirical Wiki (you know which site wink wink), this site is utterly devoid of any ads.
So just of curiousity. Where does this site get most of its operating revenues?
Sincerely ShockingChairOfGod

Thank you[edit source]
Thank you so much for hacking up some of the huffed articles. Has this been going on long, have you been doing this all along? If so, your godliness is more godliness. An editor huffed over 100 pages yesterday, within a half hour or so, and looking at the names of the pages made me just about as sad as I've ever been while logged onto uncyclopedia. I didn't know this was occurring, didn't know at all, until last week when I saw a user put up an edit summary on a fix page reading PLACING TIMEBOMB, and then I began to look into it. There is a forum up about it now, by Socky. You are a light in a forest of unlight. Thanks again. Aleister 4:13 20-1-'12
- I've restore articles from time to time, usually when there's a better version in the history, if only moving them to userspace. I recently restored Baby and reverted it to an apparently overlooked version from 2007. I've noticed the number of red links since FFW and the expand/fix tags started being used. It's sad to see long time articles like, say, Absolute Power, Educational aspects of porn or Hurricane Of Horrendous Destruction and Death because they aren't long enough. Wow that many, huh? I don't know. I'm all for quality control but I agree there are some flaws in the system. On the otherhand of course, I tend to trust the judgement of someone like ZB. I think the main problem is that there are far more articles being tagged than editors are able to work on. I don't event think there are 100 active users on the site right now. And while I'm not much of a comedy writer, it'd probably put me off writing a story for the site, especially as new user, if I were forced pad out an article under the gun of an expand tag. MadMax 23:05, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your long answer. Maybe have a look at the lists from January 19 and see if some of the huffed pages are pages you recognize as good. I saved a few yesterday (I left Original Jesus with the fix tag, to see if it gets huffed). There are now hundreds of pages with fix tags on them, they expire, and it looks like mass huffing is done when that occurs. It's possibly almost a daily extinction. I've never looked at the fix list, and I doubt many users look at it, so the only ones saved are ones each individual user keeps watch over--largely their "own" pages. So when hundreds of pages are tagged with ICU or Fix tags, and then after 30 days they are left unprotected, at that point admins should, imnho, exert very limited and strict huffing procedures to rid the site of the dreck but save all the fairly-good to good to great pages. Category:Inside jokes[edit source]
Hi, I've just merged Category:Inside jokes with Category:Uncyclopedia In-Jokes, but 3 are protected. So can you go to Category:Inside jokes and replace the protected ones with Category:Uncyclopedia In-Jokes. Thanks! ~Sir Frosty (Talk to me!) 22:20, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, there should be two separate categories for inside jokes. The "Inside jokes" category is for general inside jokes like Alan Smithee or Atlantic Records. The "Uncyclopedia In-Jokes" category is reserved for in-jokes which specifically originated on Uncyclopedia (i.e. Oscar Wilde, Euroipods, Kitten Huffing, et. al.) Merging the two categories implies that all Inside jokes were created by Uncyclopedia. MadMax 23:19, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia:Requested articles/Social sciences/World War I[edit source]
Hi Mad Max. I noticed you had made a sub page on that category. A lot of scope for some story ideas there, I did read 'Causes of the First World War' back at university many moons ago so may be that one is worth trying there. --RomArtus*Imperator ® (Orate) 13:37, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
WWI Idea[edit source]
I love it! We just got a big WWI feature in the Top 10 this year, and we could definitely make some more great WWI-themed features in the next two years. I could count on you to provide us with a shortlist of "Vital" WWI articles, right? And you could count on Zombiebaron and/or Lyrithya to provide us with a ballin' skin. We could extend the theme to the anniversaries/UnNews/etc too. Great plan, all of it. -- 06:54, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
- Totally agree. Yay reskins! -- The Zombiebaron 07:42, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

American University in Cairo[edit source]
Hey, I'm the original writer of the article and I was going to restore the article to its greater days since some of the sections seems to have been removed by random people over time for no specific reason. But I also noticed that you did a couple of logistical changes that improved the traffic flow in and out of the page which I obviously would like to stay. So, I'm going to go ahead do my thing and I hope that I don't accidentally get rid of the things that you changed. I wouldn't mind some help since I am not to familiar with some of the features in the wikia system. – Preceding unsigned comment added by AUCian (talk • contribs)

King to rook's pawn 4[edit source]
Hello, nice Happy Monkey category! A question you may be able to help with, although I don't know how. The Martin Luther King, Jr. page is going to be featured later today, and I mucked with it enough to get a half feature credit, but the theme and direction of the page was already there when I began. The problem is that it was moved around so much that I have no idea who the original author was who wrote much of the page and shaped the stupid theme (it took hours to unmean and unstupid it, and even now it's stupid and mean) to give them a half-credit thingy. Can that be traced somehow through the shadow site or some other route? Thanks, and let me know if I can help with that. Aleister 13:12 1-3-'12
- Ah ha! From looking at the edits and then at the history of his talk page I'm guessing The Woodburninator did the foul deed. Sound right? Aleister 13:28 1-3-'12
You are correct sir. Checking through the deletion logs The Woodburninator wrote most of the present text on November 21, 2009. MadMax (talk) 13:35, March 1, 2012 (UTC)

Minor league baseball[edit source]
Please revert your move if you agree. Although Wikipedia has an article on "Minor league baseball" (why no hyphen?), ESPN and the trade press capitalize it, as does the Uncyclopedia article itself. It is essentially a proper name (perhaps a trademarked one) for the national association of minor leagues. Spıke ¬ 01:19 2-Mar-12

Sorry fer takin' so long[edit source]
CW is Zombiebaron's baby, and it appears he wasn't too strong on the idea of an official tie-in. I still say the WWI Centenary will be a great project to stand alone, though.
As for LonelyPages, I remember when that was a huge problem a year ago, nearly to the day, and when Dr. Skullthumper said he'd set Fnoodle on to fixing it. I thought maybe he did for a while, but apparently this hasn't actually worked, like you say? Damn that Fnoodle! --
07:04, March 16, 2012 (UTC)- No problem about the wait. I was more embarrassed about the awful grammar than anything else. ;) I'd definitely like to pull something together before the summer. It's kind of hard to tell if there's much interest in it though.
- And about Fnoodle's lists, the page for mainspace articles is blank as are most of the others. The ones that do are either not orphans or point to deleted pages. MadMax (talk) 07:37, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

Good day sir.[edit source]
I was passing and wondered if I could ask your advice about something. I have been trying to tidy up Category:Football a little. I guess it's a little jumbled because of the obvious American Football vs Soccer thing. I have moved a lot of the Soccer players and managers which were in Category:Football into either Category:Association football people or Category:Association football players or wherever. I guess when people create an article on a football subject they tend to add it to Category:Football. Anyways... I was wondering if we need an equivalent of "Category:American football people/players/teams" or something similar. I'm thinking that Category:Football should be just for general articles about either American Football and Soccer, but that the American teams and players should be in sub-cats like the Soccer ones are. There is probably something I have missed... As you know, I don't do a lot with categories myself, and am not that familiar with how we normally do things so I thought I see what you think. I am probably fretting about nothing as usual... :-) MrN 17:30, Mar 16
- Oops. I have just found Category:Association football, and am feeling very nooby about categories! :D I'm not sure what goes where! Well, I'm thinking of changing a few things around really, but obviously... Well... MrN 20:19, Mar 16
Yeah I tried reorganizing the main Football category last summer. The category for American football players is at Category:National Football League while soccer players are at Category:American soccer players. There really isn't a lot of American soccer-related articles on Uncyclopedia so I didn't create more specific subcategories. If you need any help reorganized the categories I'd be glad to help. MadMax (talk) 20:54, March 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. I moved a few articles around, and it works a bit better now. Possibly needs a few more changes to the category layout, but it's cool. Anyway... Also... What have you done with MadMax and who is this imposter that just huffed an ICU! I don't think I have seen ya do that in almost 5 years! I'm off to purchase a lottery ticket. Excuse me.
