What the fuck? This place looks deader than an armadillo on the interstate highway. Is this normal for UnSummertime? I mean, even with the PLS giving away prize money, it took two fucking months to complete it. The last new UnNews article was on June 23. The current featured article is a year listcruft. Frankly, I don't care how awesome 1993 was or how well written the article is. We're featuring years now. Honestly, when was the last time we did that?

The rest of the articles on VFH? Mostly pathetic. Two shoe-ins are another year (in which I was born) and the sandlot. The SANDLOT!!! Come on, guys. At least come up with new ways for Mr-ex777 to be brutally sodomized.

I even nominated VFD to gain some interest in that page, but despite my pleas, absolutely no one (except Denza, the IRC martyr) has even bothered with all the crap I spammed. If you're not going to write articles, you can at least do the bare minimum by annihilating crap with a simple vote.

Last winter, everyone was whining about how Uncyclopedia was decaying, and I was the one telling you to get back to work and stop the alarmist freaking out. Now? I am the one whining, and it seems like I'm alone. Everyone else is either too apathetic at this point or nonexistent.

I mean... we are kind of dead. I blame current tastes. I can't get my friends or family to really read anything I write on here. (And they are better off for it, to be sure.) People don't want to read long articles on the internet anymore. It's a twitter-based thing now. Two sentence jokes. Videos. Things that you don't have to think about when you view them. How many unregistered users even come on here to vandalize/eventually become real users anymore? That's the biggest problem. Users go all the time. Retire, or vacation or whatever. The biggest problem is that in the last year or two, we haven't been getting new users to replace them. If we had a good way to drum up new users, it would be the biggest help. Well, I am known in teh wikiaz for never producing any content save the vocaloid page, but always undoing vandals, posting to BP and voting. The big offering of Uncyc to 99% of people is just stuff to read, which has always made its actual community more janitorial and incidental in nature, especially once you hit the point of already having so many articles. I think one of the main problems is that the site hasn't been able to rebuild its user base from the move. We might see more activity if Uncyclopedia can actively attract new editors or reach out to older users to rejoin the site (at least on a semi-active basis). I've kept a list of ideas related to this if anyone's interested.

I may have mentioned this already but Uncyclopedia may want to consider expanding into other mediums via YouTube and other social media websites. YouTube especially has a lot of potential to bring in a whole new audience. Things like flash animation, music videos, podcasts, short videos, and even a spoof news segment are all possibilities (Mhaille made a really neat flash video a few years ago). I'm sure there are plenty of readers that may be interested in helping out. Personally, I'd love to see this UnTunes as a music video. MadMax (talk) 05:15, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

One primary reason why this place is losing old editors is the janitorial shit which needs to be done on a daily basis almost in order to keep this place tidy. It's 100% the most boring and thankless job on the internet and people almost feel obligated to do it rather than write content. Most of these tasks could be done by bots almost and on other sites like wikipedia probably are. The issue being we don't have someone with the time to write the many maintenance scripts to make maintenance as close to redundant as we possibly could. My two cents.

Hi, as a new member to Uncyclopedia I felt compelled by the writing community that existed here; sure some member's sense of humor was better than others but there was one thing they shared the most, which was a love for writing. After being a member for a few months, I can tell that it's dead, not creatively dead but dead in the sense of activity. I was expecting a whirlpool of contributions and inspirations coming from this sites split off of Wikia, a community hungry to have their work reviewed, judged and improved on and maybe there's still a time of that. The heart and soul of Uncyclopedia has always been it's contributors from far and wide, putting up different points of humor, trying to build what is the funniest thing here and I've done a small insignificant amount of research to believe that there were creative juices flowing that made the place feel oh so great.

I can review other people's work but I want to be surrounded by other people reviewing articles as well. If it's just one person doing Pee Reviews than what's the purpose in even getting one? I'm just a guy trying to get betterment for his work in the form of opinion but it seems like the most opinionated people ain't here; hell my UnReviews:Jurassic Park hasn't gotten enough reviews yet. I want to be a member, I want to be the guy who contributes the most and has consistently funny articles but it seems like there's barely any motive for me to do anything. VFD and VFH has a few people going on but I feel like more people need to search through the rubble to find treasures of crap or gold that they can nominate for VFD and VFH, it get's boring when you keep on trying to find articles that are featurable.

No one person can run Uncyclopedia all by himself, there has to be a bond between the community; one that is for the betterment of this site and it's sister projects as well. We need to pump juices into projects such as UnReviews and UnVoyage and show that these projects can stand out on their own. I know I may expect an answer that says that the community is behind this site but we need to amp that 110% I need to see that there's an active community willing to commit to the big picture. In fact this is the main reason why I'm taking a break from this site, not enough activity, not enough action and work that goes unnoticed. This may change if I get back and read alot of books to improve my grammar but at this point, it's unlikely.

Hey Redhot, even though I am a sporadic member at best, I do see where you're coming from. As far as things like PeeReview goes - I keep forgetting about it - Something seems very clunky about the layout and to be honest I didn't realise that many people used it.... my article is still third from the top in the list and I wrote that ages ago, and I don't really even care about getting it reviewed any more.... So that just seems strange.

Maybe there just needs to be a bit of a rethink to the layout of the front page? - It seems that UnNews and VFH gets all the attention and the "today's featured picture" seems to be enormous...

Pee: do what Kippy suggested a few months ago and just make a forum with a link to your article. You'll get a quick pee from me at least. Less bureaucratic, shit gets done, activity is resumed.

lack of ideas? I suggest you go to USER:Multiliteralist/SoS and see if you don't want to set up something with a connection to something else. This is, in my view, a good way to get some community feeling to things. Questions about SoS? Ask away - but it's basically a free-for-all with the aim of making up funny shit with connections to other funny shit. No rules whatsoever; just a different idea board from stuff like the requested articles thing. Large scale collaboration with 16.000 open ends per minute.

VFH: just do what I suggested ages ago and abandon the direct democracy shit. Nominate and vote for a few people to take turns and select from a list where anyone can suggest articles. Less cumbersome, less bickering, activity is resumed.

It is a waste of everybody's time and is extremely bad for everyone's morale. Yes, it is true that we are at an all time low in activity, but it is also summertime, our annual slow season. Just go do something. If you wanna talk to other Uncyclopedians and get feedback on stuff come on IRC.
