  1. PHP ERRORS
    If you see lines on the top of the page like PHP Warning or whatever, be a dear and copy/paste that for us along with what page you saw that on and what you were doing at the time so we can better look into the issue.
  2. "Array to string conversion ...on line 1522"
    If you are getting this notice, that's a known issue, so you don't need to post it unless the page is broken otherwise.
  3. Broken redirects
    If you come across a redirect which points to a page which exists, but shows a red link, do a "null edit" on the redirect (click the "edit" tab, insert a space somewhere, click "save"). This should fix it.
  4. The new edit window is "icky"!

Description:

File:FF popup.gif is showing a weird error that prevents it from being displayed. The error message is unreadable on the file page but you can see the some text on here:

"Error creating thumbnail: convert: malloc.c:2451: sYSMALLOc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr) (((char *) &((av)->bins[((1) - 1) * 2]))"

Apparently it's mishandling some png thumbs, possibly just grey files - see File:Sophia-Loren.png (RGB) and File:Sophia-rocks.png (grayscale).     If it's still broken, I'm afraid you'll have to try to update the code yourself to use the current formatting and such. If you notice any wider issues that might be causing trouble in general, in particular on other pages, please report those as well.     Oh nonononono, you don't understand. My userpage used to only display the menu at the upper right hand corner of the screen when hovered over, but now it displays it all the time. DO NOT WANT. And many of the images have somehow stopped working. DO NOT WANT. Not only that, but I found a bug on this page that I also found on the "Redundancy" page: the fake edit buttons on the side of <h2> tags have stopped working. DO NOT WANT. Open bug.svg Bug report: Edit window link suggestion is slow

Description:

The in page search function is moving slow if at all (I don't know the tech term, it's when you do a search while editing by started it [[HowTo:Beet , and then the "off" doesn't show as an option). This goes for pics [[File:Abra , as well, although Wikia uncy doesn't in-page file pics where you can scan the pics by using the up and down aarows. I too am amazed at how much work and time a group of people have put into this, and it's lucky we have coding geniuses so interested in keeping this site afloat. Thanks. Aleister 14:17 7-1-'13

I'm not too sure how this is supposed to work, because my Internet connection is so slow that I usually have Javascript turned off, and so I've never used the feature. Could be an issue with the new fancy editor. Try Lyrithya's advice from up above:

If I understood you I'd do it, but I'll try it later. You've never used it? That's how I do almost all my links and used to do lots of pictures, you could get an entire list of existing pages, and used to get a list of pictures which you could schroll down using the up and down keys. Both tools are among my favorites on uncyclopedia. Thanks for doing all those in=page pop=jups yesterday, that was tedious work. I found a few more but I'll try to do them later following your code.     • Unless I'm mistaken the site notice is pushing that down, along with a couple other things. The colonized logo on the top of the Great Britain page, along with the page Aleister posted above are having the same issue.     Anything which uses "absolute position" HTML attributes to try to paste text or images over top of the page title area or the site logo is likely not working, as a position which might've looked OK in monobook is usually a wee bit too low on the page on vector. There are better ways to do this sort of thing; the 'displaytitle' function in MediaWiki or installation of extensions to override logos on a per-page basis or insert CSS into individual pages.     A <css> </css> plugin could be useful indeed. Otherwise, there is a solution for the logo-alignment problem: use the same id, but insert different values for those same id at vector.css or monobook.css. R7 (NL) 14:32, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
    The <css> tag code (as used on nl: pt: et al.) was posted to mw:Extension_talk:NewPageCSS#Outputs_nonsense. There is another Extension:CSS which does the same job but with different syntax, #css: as a parser tag. Either would be useful. Carlb (talk) 20:13, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

    It looks like someone needs to write a js to reposition the featured stamp, since the vector skin doesn't have any good hooks for an extension to use (and skizzerz' idea of putting it in the logo image was brilliant but unfortunately just didn't work). js would work perfectly to account for the sitenotice which is added in js anyway, the main thing apt to push the stamp down, and also for long titles, though anyone with js off will still see a mis-positioned stamp for the latter. -— Lyrithya 16:01, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Now when I read about putting the featured image in the logo, I was thinking about the constructure of #p-logo, which excists out of "#p-logo" and "#p-logo a". Now, normally, the image itself is located at #p-logo a, which causes it to click on it to go to the main page. When I move this background-image from #p-logo a to #p-logo itself, and putting the featured image instead on #p-logo a, it is placed above the potato and is adjustable with (negative) margins and paddings. I think this will fix it. Only thing to rethink about is namespaces. This only does work with main-space articles. Or there must be all different sorts of templates be created for those namespaces.

Fixing red links in WantedPages

Would it be alright to start redirecting pages in Special:WantedPages? Automobile, for example, should redirect to Car but are pages still being imported at this point? There are also miscellaneous pages currently listed (e.g. [[%PAGE%‏‎]], [[M:Religion and Wikipedia‏‎]], and various interwiki links) that link up to 100+ articles. Fixing links to wikia

I think I've gotten most of the external links pointing to the old wikia site. I'm assuming specific mentions on articles, talk, and user pages (e.g. John Scherer/Outrage!/Response) are to be left alone?

There's a lot of nomination pages on VFH, Pee Review, etc. that use the wikia.com address in the title. Similarly, there's links on plenty of the forums as well. There were some wikia image links that wouldn't display in preview when I tried fixing them. Will external links for uncyclopedia.org need to be changed too? Technically, everything is adjustable, but I don't know what Uncyc's userpage policy says: is someone's userpage entirely his property, or can we make the changes which are - in my view - not harmful to the content's context? We're basicly not wiping out every W*k*a-link from the article base since each change to the content is logged in the page history. But hey: what about using a robot? The problem with a script is that several of them have context, examples coming from the move to the wikia domain in 2008 from the .org domain and if we got a robot to do it they would also be changed and whilst they do point to the wikia site they sort of need to. Futhermore several hundred exist in forums which would all be bumped which is bad. For now it's safer to do in manually, I'm mainly working on diffs and whatnot on talk archives and the odd one in mainspace. These can be corrected because otherwise it doesn't make much sense, also it gives more links to this site which will boast are search engine ratings. But yeah not everything needs changing... As for the .org links I thought Skully changed them all last April but yes they should be updated too as they redirect to the Wikia site. ~Sir Frosty (Talk to me!) Broken images

I've been going through the Category:Pages with broken file links and have run across some problems. These mostly concern files that have been mistakenly deleted as unused images.

  1. Trying to restore a file for an image deleted prior to 2011will result in an error message. This also occurred on the old website, so I assume its not related to the move, but I just thought I'd mention it.
  2. Successfully restoring files does not remove the page from the broken links category even after several days.
  3. Files from imported pages do not exist despite a record of it being uploaded (e.g. EMC's File:Anuslogo.jpg).

In addition, I'm seeing a few external image links that are broken in non-mainspace pages. I was able to repair some of these when I was fixing the links to wikia but it didn't always work (I noted those I wasn't able to fix in the edit summary). Should wikia image links be changed to uncyclomedia.co? MadMax (talk) 12:11, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

A significant number of the files hosted on site as of January 2010 were moved over to the mirror, as we're a large number of files (but not all) hosted as of early to mid 2012. You may also be able to locate files using wayback machine. Obviously this isn't a technical fix as much as it is an advantage in having back-ups off site of site content. I also created User:Puppy/image as a way of determining what file pages we had and where they were used. Note this only reflects the file pages - it doesn't determine the images themselves.
My experimentation with Category:Pages with broken file links elsewhere showed me that this category was not dynamic. The pages that were shown were those that had broken file links at the time the page was last updated. (Or at least, I think that's how it worked.) this means you'll get false positives in there as well as not covering reflecting pages that develop broken links when a file is deleted. Or - in other words - it's pretty useless. I did consider a DPL solution to address this at one stage but the server load that it presented was pretty heavy, and it crashed more often than it worked, unless I stripped the bulk of the variables out of it, which then made it too slow and with too few results to be worthwhile.
The next option is to run a not that looks for links in a page that are file creation links - so for instance File:This does not exist creates http://server name/index.php?title=Special:Upload&wpDestFile=file name as URL encoded. Once you have a listing of files then searching other wikis for the link to the media via [[Media:file name]] is a matter of simple cut and paste. I also have a script a friend of mine out together that will import images on a large scale based upon the URIs of the image files.

That does help, thanks. I've found that editing a page a second time (after the broken image is fixed) will remove it from the category. I've been going through Special:UnusedFiles and listing missing files at Uncyclopedia:RadicalX's Corner. The majority I've found, however, are linked to inactive user pages. Is there a shortcut I could use to find missing files in mainspace articles instead of searching them one by one? MadMax (talk) 08:38, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

More minor issues

  1. Broken files I've deleted are appearing in Special:UnusedFiles even after the cache is updated.
  2. A few pages are appearing in categories as redirects (e.g. Bob Dylan in Category:American musicians.
  3. I can't seem to find the spam filter to block text from pages. Was this brought over during the move (I notice the exclude title feature is not included on Special:WantedPages now)?
  4. I used to be able to search the backlog of Special:WantedPages on the old site, bypassing the 1,000 limit cache, by using this link. Apparently, this is no longer working. MadMax (talk) 08:28, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

File reverting

For a long time, I've been bugged by a user called TheHauntingHour2. I'm sick of his stupid edits but now, thanks to him, I found a weird bug. He reverted to a version that was done at 2007 (and reverted back then), I reverted him and now the shit is somehow broken. Take a close look at the thumbnails and to the versions I reverted. I first reverted him to the latest version (before him), which showed me the thumbnail of his edit. Which was weird. So, aware that I did something, I reverted myself to Haunting's edit (yes, the same one I tried to revert...), and the thumbnail was the same, altough the thumbnail from the HISTORY OF THE REVERTING HAD CHANGED! So, I reverted myself again to the same version of my first revert (yes, I know this is confusing), and now it looks the same as HH's edit.. It's pretty confusing but take a look. Ah, so I've found the reason for this. This one is really fucked up sdo listen up carefully:
So, first of all, this is partly my fault. Once I get back to home with a better computer, I'll fix up everything because this needs file downloading and uploading again. Sorry, REALLY. Here comes the important part:
This is a big glitch that may destroy the whole file-reverting system. IF one, like HauntingHour, makes a bad new version of a file AND YOU UNDO HIM FIRST BEFORE PRESSING THE FILE REVERT-BUTTON down somewhere there, it's game over :( I did this mistake, first rollbacked his edits (which does not do a thing as I noticed) and after notiving nothing happened, noticing the file revert-button and pressing it THEN. This causes the file to die, you see, making reverting almost impossible. I did this on few first cases, and afterwards noticed there's a connection. I tested it WITHOUT rollbacking/undoing and file reverting worked finely. See his contributions for example. I'm sorry for this, it was an accident. I'll fix up things after few weeks. Ah, seeing over his contribs SOME MORE it seems he has broken himself too some files. See this. Actually I haven't been responsible of the breaking up at all, it seems he has fucked up things himself, altough not all. Some of them were broken BEFORE I did some of my edits, it seems. So, I've asked this before and I ask it again; could someone ban this guy? If not for terrible edits, but for file destroying as well. I'll put him to BP. I'm SICK of him, seriously. Disabling Forum talk pages

I notice that UnNews blocks the discussion tab on its main page. Could something similar be applied to the Village Dump? It seems to be a semi-regular target for spambots recently. MadMax (talk) 04:23, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Blocking the tab doesn't do much, as I believe those spambots never even see the actual page -- they just use the API. Spambots

There's been a few persistent spambot active on the site lately. I've blocked more than a few of them over the past week but they keep coming back. They use a wide range of addresses but usually repeat the same phrases in edit summaries:

  1. "Knight intends to champion for aeration Loew differences to renew love rears?"
  2. "Magic interested in chasing Paul substitute to get the blood out of the number one scorer"

Each spams these websites:

  10. [10]
  11. [11]
  12. [12]

In addition, accounts are being created by spammers (typically using a combination of letters and numbers) to post ads on their user pages. MadMax (talk) 04:09, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

There's a new batch of spammers using an account with a first name ending in two or three numbers (e.g. John123). Multiple accounts seem to be created at the same time. Since the forum is getting locked every few days should this thread be moved to a more official page? MadMax (talk) 21:44, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Username not found
