Forum:Pee Competition
I'll think you all know that the Pee Review has been a bit neglected lately. The queue is chock-a-block full, and no one seems to be doing anything about it. There's been a lot of talk on this subject. But I think there has been enough talk - we need a bit more action.
What I would love to see is a virtually empty queue. How do you do that? By making people review articles. And how are you going to make them do those reviews? Why, hold a competition of course!
So here's my proposal - contestants sign their name on this page. Then they are given one week. Every Pee Review they do, they will add next to their signature. Every in-depth review counts as a point. Every non in-depth review counts as minus one point. He with the most points wins.
I know there are still some niggly things that will have to be sorted out before we actually hold a competition like this - time zones, a starting time, an award template, etc - so if you have any comments or suggestions to help organize this thing, please leave a message here.--

- Comment. I have nothing to contribute but I just wanted to say I think this is a great idea. ~ Avast Matey!!! Happytimes are here!* ~ ~ 03 Sep 2010 ~ 06:58 (UTC)
- Comment. Excellent Idea. The only downfall I can foresee is that you're going to have a lot of people reviewing the same articles at the same time. Maybe talk with ChiefJustice or UU to see if we can get an exception to the "Only book one review at a time" rule for the week of this competition. That way, everyone can reserve their reviews so you don't end up with multiple people working on the same one. --—John Lydon 13:22, September 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Cant you just use one of those nifty pee-claiming templates? We don't get much work on the queue done if we all end up reviewing the same articles... -- 13:41, September 3, 2010 (UTC)
- Question in general - what about review requests that have been in the queue for a goodly long while and the person requesting the review has been gone over a month? Would there be any point in doing those? At least it seems more likely that folks will go near them now.
- Anyhow, I reckon this is a fine idea... not that I have any intention of taking part.
- But awarding runners-up would help for those who expect to have no hope, too. ~ (talk) (stalk) -- 20100903 - 15:10 (UTC)
- I'll be at Cajek's list, ready to check, when you need me...but it'll be a pain in the ass.--HM (T) 00:43, September 4, 2010 (UTC)
- I think that should definitely be the case here - Rule: YOU MAY ONLY BOOK ONE ARTICLE AT A TIME.
- If there are no other problems to to be sorted out, it would be good to start deciding a starting time, considering time zones. And it would be great if someone could create a template for the winner and runner up.-- 00:46, September 4, 2010 (UTC)
- If you promise not to egg me when they suck, I could make some templates. Be better if someone else does, though. I mean, since I'll probably forget and not actually get around to it. ~ (talk) (stalk) -- 20100904 - 00:52 (UTC)
- Can we have a template for participant, and maybe one for 'staying in the green' and having more in depth than shitty reviews? -- Soldat Teh PWNerator (pwnt!) 05:28, Sep 5
So...
...when's this bitch happening? —Unführer Guildy Ritter von Guildensternenstein 14:24, September 5, 2010 (UTC)
- Well, we have six participants so far. How about we give it four days for anyone who hasn't entered yet, and then we decide the exact starting time on that day, considering timezones and stuff? Or should we just start now? What do you think?--
- start later! like a week from now. I'ma be gone the whole weekend so my already low score is going to be even lower. -- Soldat Teh PWNerator (pwnt!) 23:57, Sep 5
- Well, we don't want to put it off any more then that, but a week is ok.--
- How about I big it up in this week's Signpost, seeing as I haven't run one in a little while? (Been busy). I'll give it the treatment, see if we can get anyone else to sign up. So I'd start it after this thursday - I'd suggest calling it Pee Week, so I (and by "I", I mean "Mordillo", as I'll actually be away when I'm suggesting it starts) can do something with the site notice with a "Weak Pee? Pee Week!" theme, and starting it on Monday. That's the 13th. Whaddaya say? (Also, if no-one else gets around to it, I'll make sure there are templates, userboxes and awards for all involved, because I'm nice like that). --UU - natter 08:23, Sep 6

The scores...
We have hit the second last day of the competition, and the top scores stand at...
Pee Week | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
# | user | # of reviews | ||
1 | PeregrineFalcon999 | 8 | ||
2 | John Lydon | 5 | ||
3= | ChiefjusticeDS / Thatdamnedfollowspot | 3 |
And a special mention to Lyrithya and Black flamingo, who actually at least tried to do some reviews. Everyone else who signed up and didn't make an effort are just lazy.
But it's not over yet - there is still time left! Come on, let's clear out that queue!--

Here they are: the winner's template and the not winner's template. You guys are looking at them so I can decide whether to mainspace them or, mainspace them and block you all for complaining about how crap they are. --ChiefjusticeDS 23:18, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
