Zachary Taylor was the 12th President of the United States, best known for appearing in high school social studies textbooks and absolutely nowhere else. He took office sometime in the 1800s, preceded by a moderately obscure but still relatively well-known president. He served for sixteen months and was promptly succeeded by a somehow even less important president after either dying or resigning, although nobody could be bothered to figure out which.

Early life

Zachary Taylor was born to a mediocre family in a mediocre town in a mediocre state. He was the third of five mediocre sons in his family and had three sisters, who surprisingly were not mediocre. In school, Taylor was an average student, receiving mostly C's and B's. Classmate Theodore James mentioned Taylor in an 1798 letter to his girlfriend:

“ ...I copied the homework from this one kid who sits in the back of my Spanish class. He seems like a nice enough guy but I can't remember if his name is Zack or Zeke or Cameron... ”
