Kick it old-school with Hinoa's Talk Page Archives! This archive dates back to 23 October 2007, and continues all the way up until 16 December 2007. Vandalism strictly prohibited here (duh). If you want to vandalize something, get a can of spray paint and tag some bathroom stall. Violators will be shot on sight. I have a banstick and I know how to use it. This page is only here because I am a packrat and can't bear to part with my old stuff. Anything here isn't current. If you have to leave me a message, do so at User talk:Hinoa. Apparently I Can't

Sorry about that, was a last thing I was doing before getting off the computer and taking care of that must have slipped my mind! -tinyubuntu.jpg Prof. Ahh(to the)Diddums[FUCK-A-DOODLE-DOO!] 16:55, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

You may not remember me...

Hey dude. Long time no talk, I know. You seem to be the only sysop around right now and I need something (lucky you!). Can you restore my Boethius article? I just started on it yesterday and some jackass who clearly doesn't know about my greatness (flyingfeline) huffed it. I usually go to Mhaille for my requests but he is not on yet today... Thank you.--User:Claudius Prime Sir Claudius CUN VFH (carpe diem) 14:53, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Where do I put stuff like this?

I'm not sure where to report stuff like this—it is not nearly banworthy—but Thebirdo made two racist edits[1][2] to Lazy. Otherwise a productive (if unfunny) editor. Do such incidents merit reporting? Or should I just revert and let it go? Hans Johnson as in "keep ya hans off my" (cover your eyes!) 04:08, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Were it me, I'd check his contribs and see what stupidity he has perpetrated in the past (reverting as needed), then report him to BP. Isn't vandal patrolling fun? —Hinoa talk.kun 04:22, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I have a question about a similar case for you. 204.191.184.252 made racist edits to Poop Cuisine and Japan (here and here, respectively). Said editor has only made two other contributions, both of which were acceptable if mediocre. Given such a short edit history, should I wait to see if more bad edits are made and report him/her then, report them now, or am I wrong entirely and those "racist" edits are merely poor attempts at humor? Hans Johnson as in "keep ya hans off my" (cover your eyes!) 20:24, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

i dont understand what i did wrong

you said i wronged the vanity policies????????

i have no idea what you mean

i was just writing about kiama high school as a satirically themed page?????

what did i do wrong

One of the standing rules of Uncyc is that any page written about a high school gets deleted almost on sight, as they are more likely than not to degrade into an insult-slinging war between its students. However, if the page is funny enough, it'll live. Take a look at HTBFANJS and, just for fun, UN:VAIN (again?). —Hinoa talk.kun 14:45, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Newbie on Huffin, and Talk about Trout

Hi Hinoa sorry if I just woke you up... As you can probably tell, i'm new to the uncyloipedia and please forgive me if I am im "being a dick" but I feel I must enquire as to how things work around here re "the huffing". I have now added 3 articles and have found that 2 have been huffed. Today I added what I (obviously) considered worthy of the unencylopedia [A pointless article] (a paraody of the Man vs God debate in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy). I have just discovered that it's been deleted. I accept that it might have (well it has) been considered to be not good enough, and so should be deleted, that's obviously cool (i'm often told the only thing funny about me is my looks).

I thought I would take a look to see who deleted it and when. I was surprised to find that it had been deleted within the same minuite as 3 other articles, one of them being [The platypus]. I actually happened to read [The patypus] about 30 minutes before and remember it being at least a couple of pages long. Although I accept that it would have been possible to read and decide to delete my article within the one minute time period i'm struggeling to see how someone could critically appraise my article, the [The platypus] artice, and whatever else was deleted within the same minuite, maybe they can. When I look to see what happened with my other deleted article I found that it was deleted in the same minute as 10 others. Were these articles actually read prior to being deleted? I would like to think that some of the jokes on unenclopedia are not always obvious at first, and so surely deleting articles at this kind of pace is likely to miss some pritty good stuff? I'm not suggesting that anything I have written is particularly good, just questioning the process.

Maybe there is something going on here that I do not understand.

Please don't think im trying to cause trouble, I'm just trying to understand how the unencylopeda works. Thanks for your time. User:MrN9000 03:25 9 November 2007 (GMT).

On a more serious note than my previous question I was wondering what species of trout you normally use to 'smack people around a bit with'? As a fan of the fetish Brownticker i'm actually quite partial to a bit of picien slap and tickle, but using anything other than a native British brownie is just plane crude. User:MrN9000 03:56 9 November 2007 (GMT).

Heavens to Betsy... is this guy for real? Hans Johnson as in "keep ya hans off my" (cover your eyes!) 16:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Shush, you. —Hinoa talk.kun 02:28, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
I actually do read every article before I delete them. As much as I'd like to say that I do this and still delete n articles in the same minute is due to the superspeed power that I got when I became admin, the truth is that I read all of them beforehand and just delete them all in one go with a script. However, that doesn't mean that I necessarily read them all well. Uncyc can get upwards of 100 new articles every day that aren't much more than "foo is a friend of mine who resembles Frankenstein"--and that's just the ones I check. I have other things to do, so I occasionally rush through it.
That said, I have a few pointers. First is that if you aren't done with an article yet, add {{construction}} to it. It basically states that you're not done and for us admins to go away. However, it expires seven days after the last edit, so make sure you do work on it. Second, if you want your articles restored, please lemme know what article(s) it is and I can do that for you. Finally, you may want to spellcheck your articles. It isn't foolproof (Firefox's spellcheck doesn't recognize the word "spellcheck"), but it makes it look better. (Something I key in on when I make the rounds is how well something is written--articles taht aer writenn leik tis are far less likely to survive that something that's spelled well.)
As for trout? Well, I have a unique specimen that I use. It takes the fiercest qualities of most other trout species, and, well, unusual size. Isn't mad science fun?
Thanks for your reply. Fair enough on the trout, each to their own I guess... RE the spooling erors, I hav no's ideals what you meens (will see what I can do about getting firefox going). Will use the construction tags from now on. Is it worth you un-huffing a pointless article??? I would be willing to do some more work on it if you think so. Ok I know it was "a pointless artice", but that was kinda the idea (my attempt at a circular joke). If you think it could be saved any comments would be gratefully received. User:MrN9000 03:38 10 November 2007 (GMT).

  1. The word you are looking for is "effort."
  2. Click the links.
  3. If you're still working on an article, add {{construction}} to the page. (If I missed that, I'm sorry.)
  4. Calm down.

Dance Dance Revolution

Hi, I'm the original rewriter, and the one who recently was reverted back to. I wanted to ask if you were interested in helping to make this article become a sort of "1984 in-universe" thing, with newspeak peppered throughout, a more propaganda-esque tone, referring to prof. dance as a traitor after his defection, etc. ^^65.12.233.213 00:21, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Semi-Protect Most Haunted

Hey, Razorflame here, could you semi-protect my article Most Haunted?? Like make it so that only registered users can edit it please. The reason is because I don't want it to get edited by IP users, because of all the IP user edits I've seen, most of them I've had to revert. Jesus de Canada/Canadian Jesus

If there is a reson for having deleted my article about Canadian Jesus, please tell me! To the best of my knowledge it is funny and appropriate! If I have violated some rule, let me change what is wrong! Otherwise, if you can't explain yourself, I will simply presume you to be in league with the Catholic church or worse yet, a Wikipedia insurgent and evil spy trying to keep Uncyclopedia from expanding! Haha, I hope you have a good answer. --Ggarfield 04:24, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Crap, you found me out!
I actually just checked the deletion log for Canadian Jesus, and surprisingly, no reason was given for the deletion. I'm not a mind reader, so I can't tell what Olipro was thinking. You may want to ask him. —Hinoa talk.kun 04:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Since you're such an amazing administrator...

Can you keep an eye on Anubby for me? He's been creating vanityshite for the past ten minutes or so. I warned him on his talk page, but you know, better to be safe than sorry, and "safe" in this case requires the guns of an admin to back up my warning. Many thanks. --Andorin Kato 06:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Canadian Jesus revisited

Hello Hinoa,

Well, Olipro just doesn't seem inclined to answer my inquiries about why my Canadian Jesus article was huffed. I worked hard on that, and admittedly, I think it was rather funny. If you ask me (which you probably don't), is was better than a lot of the "minor jesii" articles. Would you please help me?

Also, I have written a couple other articles, and it seems that long articles that totally exhaust a joke are preferred over smart streamline articles that are only several paragraphs in length. I think a short article (like Canadian Jesus) does not loose its entertaining aspect during the duration of reading it. Another article I wrote, Model 94 Winchester, was tagged as having "No Redeemable Value", and was cited as a candidate for expansion. I thought that it was plenty funny and a perfect length. Short of an extensive essay of actual facts and functions of this firearm, I can't imagine what one would add to it. And now they huffed my article on Sex Positions which I thought was both funny and long overdue. It was just simply a good parody of the Wikipedia article on the same! Please help! I need a friend, because Uncyclopedia seems to be an evil place crawling with vicious Satanic varmints and beasts!

I mean, Jesus, I'm a reporter on my School Newspaper, Virtually News @ IQ Wisconsin: http://my.highschooljournalism.org/wi/waukesha/iqhigh/index.cfm?eid=9859 , an A+ English Student (and an A student in general), and I happen to be a Web Developer to boot. I plan a career in writing. This leads me to wonder who the hell is qualified to write the damn humor here? Only people who have written for Comedy Central? Anyway, sorry to go on and on and get into such a huff, but please give me some peace of mind, or at lest make me a Sysop (I'm qualified) so that I can extract my wrath on articles far worse than those I have written. :P

Thanks,

  Ggarfield 03:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

P.S.: Should I be bugging a bureaucrat, or will they just be "Super Evil"

I figure this'll be easier to do as a list.
  1. I've restored the page to your userspace. It can be found here. The most obvious problem I see with the article is that it's lacking in the picture department. You might want to head on over to RadX's Corner, which is essentially the Uncyclopedia Request-A-Pic Hotline.
  2. You do not want to be a sysop. I do not want to be a sysop. I don't think anyone with the +s flag wants to be a sysop. It's one of the most thankless jobs on the site, ever.
  3. Regarding Olipro's silence on the matter, I'll be hitting him on the head with a large hammer shortly.
  4. If you should ever need help on writing, head over to Pee Review, which is like peer review without that extra R. While I don't think that anyone here's written for Comedy Central, they can at least help you to the best of their ability.
Sorry about all this. —Hinoa talk.kun 18:14, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Barack Obama

Planes, Tranes, Goroxides, and Banned accounts

Hello again Hinoa,

I am totally adopting the list thing.

1. Thanks for all the help. You seem like a cool sysop/admin, and you made me stop crying. You were actually 100% helpful.

2. How do people strike-out text. I need to know.

3. My real life friend used my computer, and got banned, and now my PC is banned for like half a year. I'm now on my Mac. Please unblock my IP adress. I don't know what it is, but the user is user:MaddMax.

4. I'm not entirely sure why he got banned. I thought his article I dare you to huff this article you admin! was serious, as in seriously funny, if not a bit inflamitory to the admins. I would suggest it be renamed Goroxide Ultimatum.

5. I'd be glad to fix his article and put it in pee review if you'd put it on my homepage. I don't think he's going to be editing for a while :( How do I put articles on my homepage?

6. I'm asking you, and not user:Tom Mayfair, because he has been banning people for like 20odd years for vanity and blanking, when my friend only tried to contribute in an "out of the box" humorous fashion. Why not read the article in question and leave me your thoughts on it?

7. I do not want to be a Sysop anymore. I am going to go get an Undergrad in Pre-Dental instead, and then go become a DMD and do Web Development on the side.

I need to work on being less long-winded. Sorry,

   --Ggarfield 02:46, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
I think the "User is blocked" message tells you what IP you have. Also, <s>text to strike put</s>. --Sir Starnestommy Icons-flag-us.png (TalkContribsCUN) 02:54, Nov. 27, 2007
All right, here we go again.
  1. Thanks. You seem like a good person, and I'd hate to deprive the wiki of fresh <s>meat</s> talent.
  2. Like what Starnes said or the word "meat" above.
  3. As a Mac user, I'm tempted to leave it. However, the block has been adjusted both to allow for your PC to work and a bit of a length adjustment.
  4. I'm going to take a guess, but I think that it was because of his article. There's already an article with a similar name - Do NOT Delete this Article. It could have been deleted because "a joke is only funny once." Of course, that's if it's the same joke. I read the article, and the pages are sufficiently different enough. Which brings me to...
  5. I'll go ahead and restore it to User:Ggarfield/Goroxide Ultimatum. And as for how to make pages in userspace? Switch the words "Goroxide Ultimatum" above with anything else you want, and poof--instant user subpage. I'm pretty sure it's explained better somewhere in the manual, though.
  6. See point 4 above. Also, I think Tom's off his meds, so give him a break.
  7. Hey, as long as you enjoy whatever you're doing, then it'll all be good.
  8. I prefer this to what I normally get on my talk page. Look at the two entries above. :)
Hinoa talk.kun 04:35, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

ICU tags

Hey Hinoa, one more question. Someone told me how I could use JS to modify my layout, and sure enough, I now have like Wikia super powers. I have the ability to use all the different ICU tags. Should a regular user ever mark articles with an ICUif they think it is appropriate? I can also QVFD instantly with a button, witch is awesome. Finally, if I move messy and unformatted articles to people's userspaces, and tell them to fix it before reposting on the mainspace, will this get me banned? I think it almost got me banned once. Lol. Thanks.

--Ggarfield 23:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Regarding ICUs: Yep, that's what they're there for. Just about the only time that I ignore ICUs is if a total noob adds them, and you've long since left that category. However, keep in mind that ICUs are used on newish articles only (less than 1-2 wks old).
Regarding moves to other userspaces: I'm not too sure on that one. I'd be tempted to bonk someone who did that myself (under "Thou Shalt Not Dick With Someone Else's Userspace"). I'd stick with just ICUing the article and letting the admins sort it out. —Hinoa talk.kun 22:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

{{Nofu|comment}}

Thanks, is it acceptable to use the Nofu template on older articles that are really Nofu? I am a bit of a fan of it, although it has no power, unlike an ICU, and thus ICUs are best for new articles. Nevermind, I'll probably use it regardless. But, how do I use a modified signature? I got this far "MajorMajor'GUN' Ggarfield, Le Marquis de Nofu .Complex!". but my sig is still the same :(. I promise I'll stop bugging you soon, but no point in asking lots of different admins questions! And you've been the most helpful thus far Sir Hinoa, so your probably semi-stuck with me for now. Lol.

--Ggarfield 17:34, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Oh, joy, I'm stuck with someone Anyway, as for signatures: Read this. I'm too lazy to go through the whole process, so I'll just direct you to a page that will. —Hinoa talk.kun 19:59, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

16 VFDs

Sir, thanks for your reminder in my talk page about the 16 VFDs. Actually I've nominated a number of articles in VFD. Somehow I'm not quite sure how the article about the Philippines ended up in 16; before I added it I swear it was only 14. Nevertheless, rules are still rules and the ban by Zombiebaron to me is rightfully served. The next time I'll be more careful about the number of VFD's.

For the VFD tag in the article itself, that was my bad :).

3 minutes, 11 seconds

And so Cajek wondered, what is the significance of a 3 minute, 11 second ban?

  1. 3:11 = 191 seconds, which is EXACTLY the amount of time that... uh...
  2. 3:11 = 6 months before 9:11. God rest his soul.
  3. 3:11 = square root of 9 and the square root of 121, which is nearly 9/11. God rest his soul.
  4. √9:√121 = 9+121 = 130. You wanted me to know about 130. I'm going to go to that page and find the secret meaning of Hinoa. Be right back.

  Le Cejak <-> (Dec 5 @ 05:36)

On that page, H appears 1,620 times, I appears 2,412 times, N 2,396 times, O 2,301 times, and A 2,667 times. ...ah, the mystery deepens!   Le Cejak <-> (Dec 5 @ 05:41)

The average of all those numbers is 2,279, which on the surface may seem meaningless, but is actually THE EXACT CUBE OF 911 - 666. SOMETHING VERY STRANGE IS GOING ON HERE, HINOA. SOMETHING VERY STRANGE INDEED...   Le Cejak <-> (Dec 5 @ 05:48)

okay, I'll shut up now!   Le Cejak <-> (Dec 5 @ 05:51)

RE the link to the "guidelines" page. Cajek and I are doing some work on the guidelines in an effort to improve them a little.
