Arguably the most popular Vocaloids to exist.

The Piapro Family (aka the Cryptonloids) are a group of Vocaloid characters that are the cash cows of Crypton Future Media. Their most popular of them is Hatsune Miku for obvious reasons. Everyone else basically doesn't get the chance to shine. Occasionally they do, but it's just for only one year and that is it. Well, actually, if their anniversary is divisible by 5, then this is where their anniversary celebration is bigger than the other. They also have more concerts than the other Vocaloid companies because of this popularity. Not to mention that they rule all worlds in the game Project Sekai.

It's also worth noting that they have unique IRLsonas like all other Vocaloids due to the musician in question having the same birthday as a Vocaloid release date.

Characters[edit | edit source]

Hatsune Miku[edit | edit source]

Hatsune Miku (初音ミク, born August 31, 1991) is the most popular of the Cryptonloids. She is easily recognizable by her aqua-colored twintails and her necktie. Obviously she doesn't really need an introduction, but if you genuinely want to read about her, just simply go to the Vocaloid page here. She is everywhere and will basically take over the world. I'm not kidding. She likes spinning leeks and even gets her own concert every year to celebrate her birthday. This is the result what happens when you use Vocaloid for the first time.

Her IRLsona is Jang Wonyoung from IVE. Kinda makes sense actually.

Kagamine Rin[edit | edit source]

Kagamine Rin (鏡音リン, born December 27, 1993) is Kagamine Len's annoying twin sister. She is easily angry and will beat up anyone if no one agrees with her opinion. Contrary to popular belief, she never had orange hair in the first place. Like her twin brother, she was born with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her character item is an orange due to her head looking like one, but she ends up dying her hair orange anyways to prove that her character item is really an orange. She is more recognizable by her bow hairband and yellow neckerchief.

Her IRLsona is Hayley Williams from Paramore, which given the fact that Rin likes oranges and that her IRLsona has orange hair, which is actually dyed, this one actually makes more sense than the others.

Kagamine Len[edit | edit source]

Kagamine Len (鏡音レン, born December 27, 1993) is Kagamine Rin's twin brother. He is recognizable with his spiky hair that looks like a banana. He is also comparable to Kenny McCormick due to both of them dying several times. Basically, Len is immortal. He dies in one song and then gets revived in the next, just like Jesus Christ. Both of the twins have a shared character item, which is a road roller. Len's not that annoying compared to his sister, Rin, but still, he gets tortured. A lot. But this is what happens when you share Vocaloid songs to the public. In 2021, the twins would get their own in-person concert without anyone else because 2021 matched their canon age, which was 14.

His IRLsona is much more obscure, as it's Walker Hayes. Yes, that Walker Hayes who made a song about dipping fries into Wendy's Frosties.

Megurine Luka[edit | edit source]

Megurine Luka (巡音ルカ, born January 30, 1989) is the final Cryptonloid ever released. Crypton would've released more characters, but they said that 6 was enough and that was it. She has mermaid powers and can turn into an octopus at will. She originally had a mature sounding voice but recently Crypton decided to make her sound almost similar to Miku for no reason. Her character item is a tuna for some reason, thus one of her nicknames is the "Tuna Lunatic". She is recognizable with her long pink hair and large boobs. This is what happens when someone listens to your Vocaloid songs.

Her IRLsona is Tyla, thus Luka also gets tiger DNA as well.

KAITO[edit | edit source]

KAITO (born either February 14 or 17, depending on your view), is the first male Vocaloid to be released. He's still the most popular male Vocaloid to this day unless another male Vocaloid or whatever somehow surpasses him in popularity. He is recognizable with his blue scarf. He also apparently has a large collection of scarves, such as a transparent scarf and a plastic one. He even wears scarves with speedos, and out of all of the Cryptonloids, he doesn't have a sense of fashion whatsoever. Because he was born in the winter, he was given warm clothes. Not to mention that he is the tallest Cryptonloid of the 6. His voice provider is actually his father, and he is his son. His character item is ice cream, and he has Sub-Zero's powers, such as ripping off the spines of other people for some reason. Also just like Len, he gets beat up, except way more often because he's a douchebag. KAITO is the only Cryptonloid have two separate birthdays for no good reason at all, but Crypton goes with the 17th of February, so we'll take that as his real birthday, then.

Because of this, KAITO gets 2 IRLsonas. The first IRLsona is Jaehyun from NCT. But somehow, Crypton manages to pull off being the luckiest company to get the most popular singers as IRLsonas. KAITO's second IRLsona must be used with precaution, because out of all the IRLsonas out there, he somehow got the most infamous one in the entire history of Vocaloids and IRLsonas; Ed Sheeran. Not only that, but his second IRLsona is allegedly one of many family members that KAITO has. Thus, the second IRLsona must be stated as such and not by his actual name, because if you do say his name, KAITO will become even more powerful due to the fact that his second IRLsona is arguably more popular than the others. So, while Miku may be more popular, obviously in the traditional Vocaloid sense, when it comes to IRLsonas, you don't want to fuck with KAITO. Not even once. Plus, his second IRLsona is literally a god. There are no jokes. Turn away now.

MEIKO[edit | edit source]

MEIKO (born November 5) is actually the first Japanese Vocaloid ever to exist. You think Miku was the first one? No, Miku is not the first Japanese Vocaloid. MEIKO basically changed the way Vocaloids were made, like having a sexy avatar. She has multiple DUIs and has gotten into several bar fights. It didn't take until 2012 to make her concert debut. She is recognizable by her red jacket and skirt. As mentioned, her character item is sake, which is basically rice wine. Not to mention that most of the merchandise she gets are basically related to alcohol. Also, she likes pouring alcohol down her titties.

Her IRLsona is BoA, but that doesn't mean MEIKO gets to turn into a snake.

Soyogi Soyogi[edit | edit source]

Wait, that's not a Cryptonloid. But we're going to talk about him anyways because even though he's on CeVIO, apparently his voice provider did a character that would've been 7 people anyways.

Soyogi Soyogi (梵そよぎ, born November 21), is the only "Cryptonloid" to have two names. He's not as popular as the other 6 because he's on a different vocal synth engine. This is why Crypton kicked him out. There's not much to say about this guy, really.

His IRLsona is Davido, but like I said, there's not much to say.

Games[edit | edit source]

Of course the most popular Vocaloids have their own video games, mainly rhythm games for the most part.

Project Diva[edit | edit source]

Project Diva was the first ever Vocaloid game ever released. It eventually had several featured added in to the sequels, such as a DIVA Room where you can interact with the Cryptonloids in an intimiate manner, as well as Akita Neru, Yowane Haku, Kasane Teto, and Sakine Meiko (who is MEIKO's niece). You can give them gifts and furniture that they can play with, some gifts they like and some gifts they don't like. If you somehow manage to enter a Cryptonloid's room on their birthday, a cutscene will occur where two random Cryptonloids will sing Happy Birthday and the Cryptonloid will thank them. But if it is yours, then the Cryptonloid (whichever you select) will sing to you. Project Diva X changed everything by doing a story mode and a limited selection of songs, and that sucked ass.

Project Mirai[edit | edit source]

Project Mirai is basically Project Diva except all the Cryptonloids are now chibis. Also, GUMI exists to give gifts and that's just her role. It's for the Nintendo 3DS, which makes sense anyways because the 3DS is smaller than the Playstation consoles. However, if you do not go to a Cryptonloid's room for a period of time, the game will force you to apologize to that Cryptonloid. You can also take the Cryptonloids on vacations, play Puyo Puyo and Reversi, and there's not much to it other than the fact that this is literally a bite-sized Project Diva.

Project Sekai[edit | edit source]

Project Sekai is what happens when you take all the Cryptonloids, put them in random worlds and add in 20 randos. There are 6 worlds in the game. The first world, the Piapro World, is basically the Cryptonloids' world. The second world, the Classroom World, takes place in a school where 4 girls form a band and they only perform if all of them work together. The third world, the Stage World, is where performances happen every single day. The fourth world, the Street World, exists through a series of dark alleyways, and if you manage to find the cafe that Len and MEIKO are working, you found the Street World. The fifth world, the Amusement Park World, is owned by one of the randos' families. Finally, the Empty World, only has Miku, but eventually all the other Cryptonloids found their way in. It is home to the Circle For the Chronically Online, or the CFCO for short. This game apparently revived the Vocaloid fandom due to its storyline.

Concerts[edit | edit source]

Crypton holds concerts each year because they're the only company whose Vocaloid concerts sell out.

Magical Mirai[edit | edit source]

The Magical Mirai series of concerts happens each year when it's close to Miku's birthday. It only happens in Japan. Each year, Miku and the other Cryptonloids dress up for a certain theme. In 2013, the first one, Miku dresses up as a magician, obviously. For 2014, which was the first one to have a theme song, it's basically based off of a dancing cube. Not to be confused with the previous year, 2015 had a cleric theme. This was changed in 2016 to avoid making the last two outfits look similar to Miku's default outfits, in which this is likely the most popular one due to its simplicity. 2017, Miku's 10th year, made her become some kind of angel and would be the first time Miku actually wears the main outfit for the theme song. In 2018, the theme song would be performed last and she wears an eye-straining outfit that is supposed to have the motif of traffic lights. 2019 would later have a clearer theme, this time having a circus theme. 2020 would be the first year in which Miku wears different outfits, being a summer and winter themed outfit, but both outfits are identical anyways. 2021 combined the elements with each Cryptonloid. 2022 would be the 10th year of the Magical Mirai series and it has a throwback theme to the past. 2023 makes Miku's outfit much more skimpier and cooler. For 2024, she is a flight attendant. In 2025, charms are popular now so each Cryptonloid gets their own star plushie for some reason.

MIKU EXPO[edit | edit source]

These are concerts that are mainly not in Japan. While they originally had a hologram screen, after the pandemic ended for some reason Crypton decided to add an LED screen without anyone knowing. Because of the stage setup and that there aren't a lot of effects in 2024, they tried too hard to be Hololive. They also tried again in 2025 with a much larger LED screen that improved, but that is not saying much anyways because they still suck at stage setups for these kind of shows.
