22:51, 1 January 2009 (UTC)- I didn't realize we had more than 10 featured articles this year. -- Kippy the Elf Talk Works ☃ 23:07, Jan. 1, 2009
- Are we not waiting to add the top 3 of December to it when they're decided then? --UU - natter 23:21, Jan 1
- Yes. Yes we are. On a side note... Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 00:16, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Voting for Top10 of 2008 is...
...here, on the page that I've spent the better part of a year making (note: the last bit is a lie). Lastly, you can't vote there yet. Not until the Top o' December is done at new day on the 16th. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 00:16, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hey! Why is Michael Bay not up there? 'twas one of the funniest articles I've ever read on Uncyc. So what if it didn't make the top 10 of a month? Shouldn't it still be eligible? • • • Necropaxx (T) {~} 20:40, Jan 2
- As you can see, that page got five votes, while other pages got 8, 7 or 6. So, no, it's not eligible for Best of '08. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 20:58, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
While we're on the topic of the top 10...
We had a top 14 last year, because we're not dealing properly with ties. If two articles tie for first, the next one down the list would be third, not second. This meant that Sergei Rachmaninoff came in the top 10 last year, despite there being thirteen articles with more votes. -- 15Mickey20 (Ho ho ho to Mickey) 19:19, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- But that would mean no second! Are you trying to make the apes take over? Madness! Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 19:52, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- There's no specific, detailed way to deal with ties. It's at the discretion of the person organizing the final list to decide how to deal with them. --
- Mickey's right though. That's how ties are dealt with mostly in other things, and I feel like it is the best way. The Woodburninator (woodtalk) (woodstalk) 20:09, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's fine to do it Modus's way when you're alotting positions in a competition. However, we're alotting the top ten, not places one to ten. What use is the title of "one of the top ten articles of the year", when there are thirteen articles voted as better? -- 15Mickey20 (talk to Mickey) 22:20, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Following last year, I'm for 10 top - ie, no more than ten articles on the list (plus the five honorable mentions). ~ 22:48, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- That would be ideal, but I'm not clear on how to break last-place ties. If, in theory, you had 9 articles with a score of +7 or more, and then you had 6 articles with a score of +6... what then?
- Then you'd have 15 articles in the top ten. What you wouldn't have is an article in the top ten with 10 or more articles that are measurably "better" than it. -- 15Mickey20 (talk to Mickey) 20:20, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
