WNBA

“If a routine two-point shot is slowly made in the forest, and no one is around to see it, does that shot score?”

Old philosophical question, believed to be connected to the WNBA legend somehow

The Women's National Basketball Association, according to urban folklore, is a basketball league consisting only of women's teams. Those who believe in the legend will tell you that the WNBA occupies basketball arenas from May through October, including an All-Star Game and playoffs. However, no one has ever been pictured attending a real WNBA game, and photos circulating of games in progress have all been identified as hoaxes. Mostly, these hoax pictures consist of arenas without a crowd, where the court is filled by the tallest patrons the hoaxer could find at the local lesbian bar.

Most alleged "WNBA" teams occupy the same arenas as NBA teams, which may explain most other sightings of unexplained basketball at those places.

Players[edit | edit source]

Accounts of the appearances of WNBA players are varied, but the general consensus is that they are stringy humanoids with the faces of men. Since this is consistent with most depictions of aliens, the groups who believe in the WNBA and in UFOs often overlap. One contrasting account states that they are "like Bigfoot, but much hairier".

Several individuals, claiming to be the girlfriends of WNBA players, have been audited by the IRS over attempts to obtain the salaries of these mythical beings, and even arrested and imprisoned. A tax collector source gave the opinion, "Why would you risk your life and wellbeing over an extra $5,000 a year? What kind of screwed-up country is this?".

Recent developments[edit | edit source]

According to WNBAologists (as they call themselves), the 2020 WNBA season was played without fans. None of them has been able to determine how this is any different from other supposed seasons.
