UnBooks:Sunday my Sunday[edit source]
Hi Shabidoo! I've recently had to study the Vietnam war and see that it can be treated from plenty of very interesting perspectives. Yours might be one of them. For instance, is the narrator really a dog or is everything you're telling just happening in his mind, affected by the war trauma (and possibly drugs)? Anton (talk) 18:00, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hey. First...thanks for your critiques on the VFH. I am very aware of the shortcomings of the article and indeed it mostly has to do with space restrictions. If I could I would ineed expand it a whole lot (and it has crossed my mind to turn it into a much larger work on my own). This article was written for a friendly competition. I think we only had a couple days to write it. The idea was to write a really original creative article. As it's an absurd story I'm trying to play with contradictions. On one hand the two characters in love are different species so there should be an atmosphere of tollerance and understanding and yet at the same time there are tons of innapropriate references about black people and asians. It is historically accurate in the sense that Americans were in Vietnam and some soldiers brought back home prostitutes as wives but it is also a total fantasy per the future as the Chinese won't be taking over the world and they certainly won't do so with robots (despite what even some rational people actually fear). And I wanted the cat to be the male as it is a bit of a gender reversal (we usually think of dogs in a masculine way or a mans animal and cats in a feminine way or a woman's animal). It's pretty impossible to rationalise absurd and surreal stories. Some of it has a message and is metaphorical (or with symbolism) and some of it is just weird random messed up stuff. The only common theme there is humanism (as with most of the stuff I write). Also the story starts out like the novel "lolita" a novel about inappropriate love and instead of the name of a very young girl it's the day of the week (and turns out of be an animal of a different species). I'd recommend the books by Kurt Vonnegut (one of my three literary heroes). Especially his book "Cat's cradle". And Saramago and his book "Cain" and any the short stories for adults by Roald Dahl. I'd love to be able to write in the spirit of their surreal humanist novels and one day put out a novel approaching their quality. On the other hand...I don't think I'll be changing the article much. Hopefully it will be featured. We shall see. As for the vietnam war "A Good Scent from a Strange Mountain" is a pullizer prize winning collection of short stories by a writer who was a US soldier in Vietnam. Very amazing vietnam fiction. As are the movies "appocolypse now" "full metal jacket" and "the thin red line". --ShabiDOO 22:27, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

A small request[edit source]
Hi Shabidoo. I'm trying to restart Uncyclopedia:Foreign Office and I thought it might be worth reaching out to Wikipedians involved in wp:Wikipedia:Translation or wp:Wikipedia:WikiProject Echo. Would you consider asking on my behalf? Thanks. MadMax (talk) 07:05, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- I haven't edited on the Spanish uncycloedia for over a year...but yeah...I'll contact them. I translated a couple articles both ways...and in neither case did anyone notice or care (in fact in one article a couple images were deleted).
- Whats your vision for foreignoffice? ShabiDOO 13:56, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
Oh thanks! I left Ratachu a message there recently but I’m not sure if he (or the other Spanish ambassadors) are still active. And any articles you could translate would be much appreciated. If you’re interested, I know Everyotherusernamewastaken is looking for some help reading Rembrandt on the Spanish Uncyclopedia.
I have a few ideas for the Foreign Office but I was hoping to get some input from the other foreign Uncyclopedias. Personally, I’d use wp:Wikipedia:WikiProject Echo and wp:Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki as a model. I’d like to try asking for volunteers on translation websites as well as Wikipedia.
I created a list of translators for the English Uncyclopedia so the project could start small with individual volunteers translating requests. Monthly collaborations or an annual competition (i.e. images and meta humor) are a possibility too.
Ideally, all of the various Uncyclopedias would be trading articles with each other. This list, for example, was made so that each Uncyclopedia would have a high-quality article for each entry. MadMax (talk) 14:16, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

- The fork is the one that leaves four holes every hit and the spoon just isn't real. Anton (talk) 17:31, 3 May 2015 (UTC)::
- On the wikia there is only one edit to the main space per day that isn't large cuts and almost everything is done by admins and this Miley person. Both are utterly dead. It is time for some kind of reboot. I've been thinking about taking the best of uncyclopedia and letting go of the wikipedia parody part :) I've also talked with a few other users about having a version that only shows the best of the best of the best :)
- What are you upto these days Anton and Wikiman? ShabiDOO 08:49, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Frankly speaking, abandonning the Wikipedia parody format is probably the best option for enuncyco. Maybe, if we do it, then for once the two uncys will be able to coexist without competing for readers' attention. I've personally been up to many things. You really intrigued me with your ideas, Shab, so I'd be checking again soon, if I have time. I'd also be very interested in helping out, if you are going to reboot the website as you promised! Rebootin'[edit source]
Just checked up because I haven't seen you around in a while and I was interested to read in your comments above. Leverage and I are trying to stir up activity by nominating stuff for feature, but a new big project sounds welcome at this time. In some ways I think it would be a shame to ditch the encyclopedic aspect of this site simply because our formatting is so much better than wikia's, but with SPIKE at the helm that site very much prioritises the encyclopedia aspect over the comedy-writing, which makes for a slew of shitty soulless pseudo-satire. I think we must take an experimental approach to comedy in order to keep ourselves interested, we should probably collaborate on a regular basis, we should get rid of stuff merely because it's not funny, and we should lose our prejudice against short articles. So what were your ideas for a reboot? ~EveryOtherUsernameWasTaken(dtf?) 15:42, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- The idea is best of the best only...no injokes and nothing unecesarily obscene or offensive (obscene and offensive are great when done well but not when uncesesary). I think a small group of users is best working out content by consensus...not votes. New content is added through peer editing and consensus. ShabiDOO 06:55, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- Interesting... I am cautious about anyone who says "no injokes" because I don't know precisely what an injoke is. I've said a little about this before: I used to think an injoke was something you can only understand if you were there at the time, and that definition is likely to create animosity towards it because there it is an elitist concept, but at Uncyclopedia the definition seems to be anything avant-garde, basically. Not that I know what avant-garde means either. But A wizard did it, for instance, doesn't take long for new readers to understand. ~EveryOtherUsernameWasTaken(dtf?) 14:42, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
- Kitten huffing for example is an injoke. A reader wouldn't understand what was so funny about it unless it was clearly explained. The same with "A Wizard Did it". Without the context...it looks like fluff. Any article or image that directly mentions a user name here is also very injokey. Articles that refer to or make fun of uncyclopedia itself can (though not always) be pretty injoey too. ShabiDOO 03:43, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
- I disagree on the grounds that I personally laughed a fair bit from seeing A wizard did it, just because of Merlin's jaunty pose and the caption "Wow it's fucking magical or something!" The idea that the whole site has a recurring gag about kitten huffing also appeals to me, and This Guy seemed like a genius parody of Wikipedia biographies when I first read it. Now, a page about the fork and the spoon, or typography refresh, or SPIKE, is an injoke in my books because I would have no reason to laugh when I first came here. ~EveryOtherUsernameWasTaken(dtf?) 22:41, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

We will see four operas (in Bolshoi, Novaya, Stanislavsky and the Childrens opera, one ballet in the Kremlin theatre, one concert in the Tchaikovsky music hall and one play in the Chekov theatre. We will visit the three alternative art galleries, the planetarium, the Kremlin museums, the museum of design and a few more. We plan on doing a tour of the metro stations one day and do the free boat tour (with a boat day pass) and take the monorail once. We will go by two different parks and a botanical garden, visit the bohemian neighbourhoods, go to a disco at least one of the evenings and eat in a variety of restaurants (i have a list of good but economical places). The rouble is going down again which is GOOD for us (bad for russians). The rate has already gone up 10% which is nice. Any other recomendations? ShabiDOO 17:34, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Maybe try visiting the Gor'ky Park, if it's not on your list. But I think you've got more than all the essentials covered and despite the fact that I've probably been to at least half of these places, I am still very jealous. Happy Monkey[edit source]
Unfortunately, due to my lack of free time and the making of my next music video, I cannot make an article for the Happy Monkey. On the other hand, I would be interested in being a judge. What exactly would that entail? ~[ths] UotM 17:42, 07/31/2015
- Judging is an incredibly delicate and important responsibility. As a judge...you are representing both the integrity and the reputation of uncyclopedia. All judges are expected to do their best and to maintain the highest standards of professional integrity. If you are willing to meet these challenges...then the happymonkeycompetition committee will unanimously welcome you onto our judging team. Ok, so I can't figure this one out. Lets say the Topic I were assigned was Pooper Scooper. Am I allowed to change the title at all, into something like UnBooks:The Pooper Scooper? I haven't been able to find an answer to this. The Woodburninator The vote was legitimate! ™ 18:11, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- YES. Just don't overdo the modification. I think once someone went a little too creative as in "Submarine murder" into "UnBooks:A tragedy at sea". That's too much. Your example is quite okay. ShabiDOO 18:57, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

HM Scoring[edit source]

- You won't regret this Mhaille! :) 16:17, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
- If my buddy will decide to judge...he can do it out of 10 and we can round the number to 100. Usually if you judge out of 30 you have to write up at least a couple sentences summarising the article. I do a full out review...though if you are super lazy a couple sentences will suffice. if you mark out of 10...it's just the number. you don't have to run down the score or justify it. ShabiDOO 17:40, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
- You won't regret this Mhaille! :) 16:17, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
Hi Shab, judging by what MyOwnBadSelf wrote, I think he doesn't want his article to be judged. What do you think? Anton (talk) 00:13, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hey...all articles are judged. If it is just a stub...then just give a small review! ShabiDOO 02:03, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
Fourth Judge[edit source]
Hi HappySpaceMan and GrammarFegelein. We need one of you to do indepth judging and one of you to do light. Indepth means giving scores out of 30 with the scores out of 10 for humour, creativity and originality as well as at least a couple sentences of review per article (one sentence if it is a stub). Longer reviews are appreciated.
Light judging means a score from 1-10 representing your over all score for the article based on the happy monkey criteria. You don't have to give any review.
Can you guys work it out here who will do which? ShabiDOO 04:16, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
I'll do indepth judging. 04:45, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- Okay. Settled. Grammar does full out and Sapceman does lite. You have a few days to go over it. The scorring is here. ShabiDOO 05:04, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

First, thanks for supporting my campaign for becoming an admin with your original vote! Second, thanks for the compliments about my page, they mean a lot to me. When I started writing, I didn't know a thing about belly fluff and so had to research that, and I was really afraid the article would just be plain boring. I'll try to amend the moment which lost you, when the pages are unlocked. I mean, when I unlock the pages.
And finally, here is the information about the park I was talking about, in English. Gorky Park is to Moscow what Bois de Boulogne is to Paris and the Central Park to New York, pretty much. Anton (talk) 15:34, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- By the way, Shab, I had a question about one of the scores I received, but I don't know if you are allowed to ask the judge about it. He did his job and the review, and it feels like asking him for more details would look like I am begging to reconsider it or that I don't appreciate his review (which I really do). But I just have an impression like the comments do not really match with the note, if you know what I mean. Anton (talk) 17:35, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
- Mmmm...in general it's a huge no-no to question the judges and their scoring unless there is something very clearly wrong. I'll ask all of the judges to double check their scores before it is over. Also...you should feel very free (once the competition is over) to ask the judges for some extra constructive criticism...but in the most politest and non-complaining manner possible :) ShabiDOO 20:39, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
