God Bless Playstation 3

I got a PS3 and I am currently folding on the network for Uncyclopedia at a rate almost 6 times that of a normal computer. IF YOU HAVE A PS3 MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE SYSTEM UPDATE AND HELP UNCYCLOPEDIA RAISE THE RANKS! I bet that if we get 3 or four otehr PS3 owners like me folding for this team, we will reach first faster than eve before! Squeak! Weasel 3689PS3 and F@H Pwn! Viva Colombia! 01:48, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I first saw this software on the PS3. It's absolutely amazing what you can do to help research these days. :) I'm hoping to fold on my Linux computer soon, but I'll probably stick with "anonymous", unless I'm feeling sassy I'll send as "Uncyclopedia" Mistress of the Clow ~ Cardcaptor Stacey Icons-flag-gb.png Snoopy.gif [Talk] [Work] [Uncyclopedia Fanlisting] 21:36, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Reducing amount of computers

I had three computers working with F@H, but one of them wasn't mine and I had to give it back. I have a tar.bz2 of the f@h directory, do you know of any way I could use the work (it was at 20% I think) and not lose that protein? --W2bh 13:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Great Work

As reigning Uncyclopedia Folding@Home Champion since basically the beginning, I want to be the first to congratulate gwax for surpassing me at whatever point he does. I'm processing fewer units these days, but I still have 2 computers plugging away most times. Anyway, great work everyone, and keep it up! R 14:59, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks; I've been waiting for this day to come myself. Though, as they say, it is lonely at the top. --Sir gwax (talk) Signuke.gif 08:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Note On Main Page

I say we either add another template to the top of the Main Page, put something in the site notice for a bit, or add F@H to the Community toolbar. I realize it's not the Village Dump, but it sure includes a lot more community then the Community portal... If we put something on the Main Page, or in the site notice, it'd just be for like a day... Even better then a note would be a full-fledged reskin, maybe on the 28th, our unofficial 8 month anniversary... Anyway, chew it over... or whatever. Ladies and gentlemen

As you may have noticed, we are now, very proudly, in the top 1000 ranking!!!! WOOO!! And I for one would like to thank every single one of you who has contributed in the name of Uncyclopedia. Even if you're making use of a 386, folding deadline-less work units: without your help, we wouldn't be where we are now. Of course this great achievement shouldn't take prime. After all, it's for a good cause, not to whoop other teams backsides. But it sure does feel good, doesn't it? :D --~ sin($) tan() 12:44, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

F@H Admin Election

Note: Todd is back! No need for the election.

Accepting nominations for someone to be forced to take charge while Todd is off being cool elsewhere. --Joe!&MUN&F@H&KIA&C^2&N^1 03:47, 11 April 2006 (UTC) Requirements:

  • Must have more than 1 WU
  • Must... not suck.
  • I really can't think of anything else.

Okay, nominations here.

Nominations

Err.... first five will get voted for, and I'll end it on.... err, May 29th. Yeah. My birthday.

  • Nomination? Is it really necessary to vote for people to support this project? If so, MoneySign has already handed out a few awards in Todd's absence and is ideal to take the helm (unless his admin duties are keeping him too busy). If not, I think that anyone should feel free to "award" the Ninjastar for 1 WU and the cookie for 1000 points, provided they state the reason with the award. We're getting behind now, and it might be necessary to crosscheck the Uncyclopedia and Stanford rosters with user pages to see who has missed what.--Winston 16:28, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Comically Large Times?

It's telling me 208 days of constant running. On my old computer (and I mean old - parts from at least 1996, if not earlier) it would be about a week of constant running. Is there something wrong? Comp's vitals available if needed. --RoboJesus 02:02, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

I've had WU's that would have ended in a little under 3 years, if I was to believe the estimates... So yeah, that happens once in a while... Usually it's when the WU has just finished (down)loading, but I've known those crazy estimates to stick around for a few hours... Don't worry about it. :D --~ sin($) tan() 02:07, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Moving stats from one team to another

Is it possible to move your statistics from team to another? -AlexJohnc3 Complain F@H Fx2 22:30, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Honestly? No idea... I've never known anyone switching teams... Common sense would tell me that the points you made whilst folding for team X will stay with team X, and so once you join team Y, you start from scratch on team Y's statistics page. But really, I'm not sure about that at all.
Also, please change your nickname in your preferences to the following:
{{SUBST:nosubst|User:Alexjohnc3/sig}}
It'll stop your sig from being hardcoded everywhere you sign. And yes, that's the way we like it here at Uncyclopedia. ^_^ --~ sin($) tan() 04:13, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
I tried to come up with a solution to that myself. I just had my signature point to User:alexjohnc3/sig/subst, which had the template user:alexjohnc3/sig in it. That's a much better fix, thank you sir! = 0
That's what I thought about moving my points... I had F@H before I knew about Uncyclopedia, including its F@H team obviously, so I made my own team (which had only me in it, now it has nobody. =P ). I guess it wouldn't be likely, especially since it would be pretty hard to verify you're the person who got the points. Oh well, too bad. AlexJohnc3 Complain F@H Fx2 13:24, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
ANS: No, it is not. Check your Profile page, then click on 'Detailed listing for projects 0-999' … or whatever that is. Then read through that page, and you'll see that a WU stays with the team it was turned in for.
Which, in my opinion is stupid, but you can't have everything. <.<

SETI@home?

I am currently working using Settee@home, could we have a team for that? *expects answer to be "no"* ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 11:11, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm against, I think Folding@home is more useful than SETI@home (which is probably the most useless waste of computer resources ever). - Sikon 12:22, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Why do you think that Settee@home is a waste? ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 12:31, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Because we're unlikely to find "Eny Terrestrial Intelligence", and even if we do, the practical benefits are questionable. - Sikon 08:22, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I asked above awhile ago, but what about Boinc? That way everybody can contribute to whatever projects they want, and the Uncyc team gets the points.--Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 08:43, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, that's a good idea... if there is a way to connect all the BOINC projects into one team. ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 09:13, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Now that I think about it, I joined the team for whatever country it is that I am from for each of the projects that I joined, but I'm not sure that they're "linked". --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 09:18, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Um... NPOV

Shouldn't Uncyclopedia support other distributed-computing projects such as World Community Grid? Into what article should I insert the relevant information? (Sorry, I don't have the computing resources to lead a team on any distributed-computing project.)

Two Questions

Curious... how could I make this thing go FASTER? I've got a WU of 5,000 and it's telling me it's going to take 2 1/2 days to finish it. I'm just saying, I mean, it's not a race or anything (or is it...) but while I'm doing resource-safe things such as coding or reading, I'd like for the computer to be doing something useful. ;) Also, I get the 'vibe' that the app runs faster if you have a screensaver up... true? Mightywayne 15:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

It runs faster in the non-screensaver mode, since it doesn't have to stop whenever you use the computer for non-intensive tasks. Other than that, the only way you can really make it run faster is with a faster machine! 2 1/2 days per WU sounds pretty good to me - these aren't small tasks you know! --Strange.PNG (but) Untrue  Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 12:23, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm finishing a work unit in around 2 hours, amazing these new GTX 280 OC's and the GPU-2 client !! (running an Intel Quad core 2.66 at 3.5GHz (water cooled), 4Gb of 1066 at 1200, 6 x 1TB drives, blu ray, 2 x 24" displays, NVidia GTX 280 OC 1GB video ram - flat out 24/7 , 1,000Watt PSU ) user Ausscorpio

Display

Does anyone know if the Display for 5.03 works on Windows Vista? When I open it it's a black screen. Does it take a while to load or does it just not work for me? NASCARKahne 01:06, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

It works on Vista, and it's not slow either. --The Dit 10:02, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
When I open mine, it's just a black screen. NASCARKahne 21:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry for your loss. You could try setting compatibility of the program to Windows XP in properties or switching your screen display to 16 bit (which would suck). I'd like to help, but I'm no expert. More probably, it's an OpenGL thing. --The Dit 01:53, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Anyone who's display works, what does it look like? NASCARKahne 23:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Update: Switched to 16 bit- Horrible, but display works. Not worth it.

Humanplyr joining the fun!

Heyas all, I'll be joining in soon, been folding for some time now, so I expect when I do manage to get my comp and everything settled, I'll join in the fun. 1. 20 now 13/DEC/08 and should be at least 16 by the 20th december, look out coming through......
  2. 19 now 15/DEC/08
  3. 18 now 18/12/08 behind schedule, offline for 12 hours - make it 16th by 21st DEC
  4. 15 now 22/12/08 just missed the deadline, but here I am . lets go for #11 by 1st Jan
  5. 13 now 23/12/08 vroom vroom, 12 coming soon, bit of a gap to 11 though...
  6. 11 now 27/12/08 made it easily to this spot in time , might just get 10 by new years....
  7. 10 now 30/12/08 Made it to 10 before new years, theoretically made 9, but it wasn't updated in time.
  8. 09 now 03/01/09 now 9, hoping to make it to 4 by end of January , so lets see hoe it goes.....
  9. 08 now 07/01/09 now 8, some conflicts between latest nvidia drivers and screensaver with F@H running

so down time is much higher, should still make 4 by months end - extreme overclocking shows overtaking to #4 in 2 weeks (21/01/09) with #3 due in 5 weeks (approx end of february) so off the nice GTX280 goes, hopefully a second system dedicated to F@H using a 260GTX by march, then positions 2 and 1 are within reach.....

  1. 07 mow 10/01/09 #6 in about 4 days and then 5 and 4 in quick succession in about 10days (or so)
  • Nobody checks this page anymore. That being said, screw you and your quad core overclock abuse. I've been folding for two years with a normal-clocked one-core and I'm in the 70s. Also, if you've checked the scores on the stat page, you've got about 1/9th of the way to first place right now. Have fun. --SPY Administrator (Complain|I rock|In memoriam) HMRFRA Bluegarrisoncapsig.png Sucrose b.gif WH 23:11, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

nobody checks this page, you checked this page, therefore you are nobody -

guess what I'll be number one in this group within 5 months after that I'll go elsewhere into a larger pool, setup my 2nd o/c system and blast through that, guess your the sort of guy that keys a BMW or Koenigsegg 'cause you can't afford one ? As for Abuse it runs 24/7 with nary a hiccough. (anyway it only has to survive for 6-9 months before it gets the next level up) And I still use for movies , games etc etc because it's all running on one of the video cards leaving the quad core to do other things. - mono cores are so last century.

  1. 4 now 17/01/2009 about 3 days ahead of schedule #3 in 10 days, #2 in 14 days (both pre Feb 09)
hoping to get to #1 about June 2009

Did it
