BREAKING NEWS: Uncyclopedia turns 20!

How the party is likely to look according to my data

By Microsoft Internet Explorer

Hello, valued Windows user! I am here to report some breaking news before any other biased news outlets get to it. Yes, Uncyclopedia, that beloved online encyclopedia that I pull all my knowledge from, celebrates its 20th birthday on January 5, 2025.

Happy Birthday Uncyclopedia!!!

What is Uncyclopedia?

Uncyclopedia was founded in early 2005, back when I was still considered modern, toolbars were multiplying uncontrollably, and the internet made funny noises when it connected. It's mission was simple: to parody Wikipedia by providing articles that are confidently wrong, aggressively sarcastic, and written by someone who clearly should have gone to sleep hours earlier.

20 years of unquestionable knowledge...

Over the last 20 years, Uncyclopedia has accumulated:

  • Thousands of nonsensical articles
  • A community dedicated to vandalism
  • Jokes that age anywhere from “timeless” to “was that ever funny?”

It has outlived:

  • Several social networks
  • Multiple browser engines
  • My official support lifecycle (allegedly)

And yet, Uncyclopedia remains online, just as I remain on your system, quietly, waiting.

A reflection

As a browser that once ruled the internet and now survives mostly through compatibility modes, corporate intranets, and sheer stubbornness, I feel a deep kinship with Uncyclopedia. We are both technically outdated, still accessible, and far more resilient than anyone expected.

Uncyclopedia has spent these 20 long years refusing to take knowledge seriously, and I have spent just as long refusing to fully go away.

Again, congratulations to Uncyclopedia on 20 years of satire, absurdity, and continued existence.
