Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram is the capital and largest city of Kerala. The long name was chosen to confuse people and make them type the name wrong, so residents could joke and tease them. However, the people who didn't live in Thiruvananthapuram didn't think that was funny, and refer to Thiruvananthapuram as Trivandrum. Sometimes.
History[edit | edit source]
Once upon a time, the Malayali Varma clan decided to build the city of Thiruvananthapuram. From this point onwards, they decided to call themselves the Aye dynasty, pronounced similar to the Canadian saying, "Eh!"
In the 1700s, the Aye dynasty decided to change their name to the Thiruvithamkoor dynasty to twist the tongues of their subjects. The British diplomat, who was originally born in Canada, then exclaimed, "He gotcha, eh!"
Climate[edit | edit source]
The climate of Thiruvananthapuram is humid, of course. It's similar to the climate of Kolkata but without the extreme heat or the slums.
Lulu Mall[edit | edit source]
A new addition to the Thiruvananthapuram skyline is the Lulu Mall (named after the Lulu Hookah Smoke Shop in Bahrain). Created by the Muslim Yousef Ali, it was a gift of a splendid nature for the city. Lulu Mall gave rise to the inevitable Lulu Casino right next door, which is now one of the greatest tourist attractions of the city.
