wikia[edit source]
Any way of blanking the Wikia spotlight?
- Theoretically, you could by rendering another Nihilism picture at its location. 71.220.211.235 22:19, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
How?[edit source]
How did you blank the tabs at the top? I've made an article somewhat like this, and if the tabs were blank, it'd just complete the article... Thanks,

There has GOT to be some kind of hidden message in this page. --152.163.100.201 22:16, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- There's no hidden message in life, so why should there be a hidden message here? --S P I N N I E 22:53, 2 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- To answer that question more thoroughly: No. There is no secret, no guidance, no comfort, no hope, nothing. Man is alone in the dark, and no one will ever bring a light. Or in other words, life is a blank page, free for you to scrawl your own design. But what's the point? It's like writing in the sand - time, tide and the internet will wash your words away. -IQ

This is not nihilism[edit source]
Nihilism is Nietsche's theory of complete moral relativism. It does not mean nothing. If you can right a parody of nihilism that would be great, but this is not one. --Anonymous (Signature added to avoid confusion)
- Dictionary.com Say:
- "ni·hil·ism P Pronunciation Key (n-lzm, n-)
- n.
- 1. Philosophy.
- An extreme form of skepticism that denies all existence.
- A doctrine holding that all values are baseless and that nothing can be known or communicated.
- 2. Rejection of all distinctions in moral or religious value and a willingness to repudiate all previous theories of morality or religious belief.
- 3. The belief that destruction of existing political or social institutions is necessary for future improvement.
- 4. also Nihilism A diffuse, revolutionary movement of mid 19th-century Russia that scorned authority and tradition and believed in reason, materialism, and radical change in society and government through terrorism and assassination.
- 5. Psychiatry. A delusion, experienced in some mental disorders, that the world or one's mind, body, or self does not exist."
- I feel justified in saying, then, that this article represents, and is, nihilism, but perhaps isn't a parody, as it says much more, and says it more truthfully and more accurately than I believe any other description of nihilism ever could. --Spintherism 18:54, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- I really should have worded that in a way that doesn't sound all serious-like, oh well. --Spintherism 23:35, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- I think you're probably right, but the popular layman's perception of what nihilism means would make this article acceptable, and funny, which I believe it is. Nicegravy 18:12, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)

- I think this is what Uncyc is all about. It can communicate in ways that "serious" and "literal" forums can't approach. It has neither respect, standards nor expectations and so it's free to speak the lies that tells the truth. IQ 21:22, 16 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- Nihilism can mean many things, all having to do with nothing (to an extent). I think this is a good article.--Sophia 22:09, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- The question should be humor, not fact, but Dictionary.com, like Wikipedia and Google, is not a reliable research tool. Your rationalization is worth keeping because it is humorous (to me), not because it is factual (to anyone with knowledge of the topic). --anon 02:57, July 30, 2012

Make the words go away![edit source]
I dislike the little "60px-nihilism.jpg" thingie in what I can only assume is the "the so-called experts" box. Is there a way to make it go away? This page ought to be pristine white. If we can't blank that line, I suggest we remove the so-called experts box. The whole page must be WHITE. WHITE POWER! No wait.

I like this[edit source]
It's great. Now all we have to do is find some way to get rid of the google ads.
- You cannot. You can make them invisible with CSS, but that would get us into some trouble with Wikia. - Sikon 03:04, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- How irritating. Oh well.- Cronion 12:43, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
- I think it says so much about the internets that the only item that cannot be purged from the nihilism page is the google ad. --Olly 12:34, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, you can't kill Google. --TimeStopper 00:23, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sure we can't cut a deal with Google? It's just one page of what is it, 13000? IQ 07:07, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- It is in deference to Angela (and Wikia). I asked her about the legality of it, and she said that although she wouldn't totally disallow it or enforce it, she does not want to set a precedence for blocking ads in the default skin. And I agree with her. I deny google ad removal to reskin css's when they are requested of me, and advise other administrators not to allow it either. Suck it! ^_^ --Splaka 07:19, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, I like the ads! I think in a way, there's nothing in the world but humorless and random advertisements that don't apply to you. No meaning at all. Maybe there's a way to get an appropriate nihilistic ad to show up. --70.231.172.229 21:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- If you could change the default skin to add a picture "extension" to the bottom of the Google ad, you could probably make an appropriately nihilistic ad. Don't know what; maybe an ad for Nietzche for something. You know, don't make it too obvious.--DeadlyGrim 23:04, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Current ad I'm seeing seems ironic, in a recontextualizationy way. "End Public Speaking Fear: Breakthrough 2-Day Class makes Presentations fun and easy." Then again, that's just me. Eoseth 18:39, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

logo trouble[edit source]
the custom logo for this page is not transparent, at least in MSIE. --Nerd42eMailTalkUnMetaWPediah2g2 16:34, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- It is a bug in your version of IE, for some stupid reason it won't show alpha transparency with the image inserted via CSS (even though the result should be exactly the same as if it were embedded in HTML css). Upgrade! --Splaka 04:31, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- The wonderful thing about IE is that all the errors can be fixed in one easy step: get a browser that doesn't suck. --Spin 06:15, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
MSIE has a problem with PNG files and doesn't show alpha transparency. Apart form IE7 I think. Bilky Asko Talk Here 19:22, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Isn't there any way to make the page all white? Like get rid of Sophia, the gray background, the lines, everything, just all white. An entirely blank page. I know there's got to be a way. Soakologist 09:52, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think so, but I think that would be more appropriate for Blank Page.
Some of the translations of this page are entirely blank, such as the Japanese-language version.
Might be worth looking at ansaikuropedia's version as well as the Finnish hikipedia?
Main image[edit source]
I've noticed that if you hover your mouse over the potato logo, it says "Main Page." Is there any way to disable that, or at least have it but make it blank? --Wikipewhine - vandalisms 23:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Firefox?[edit source]
I'm using Firefox and I still see all the various navigation link thingies. I'm also using the Adblock and NoScript so maybe that's what messing it up...?
Also, when I render the page in IE it is all delightfully plain and white... so I'm sure it is some kind of extension scripting issue thingy.
