As most of you are aware, we use IRC as our primary method of off-wiki communication. Because we have such a large IRC commmunity on freenode, I think that now may be a good time to elect a Group Contact and have him (or her) file a Group Contact Form to make him (or her) become the official representative of Uncyclopedia on freenode and officially make Uncyclopedia a registered group there. The main responsibilities of the Group Contact will be to manage channels in our namespace (#uncyclopedia and possibly #uncyc-*), act as a representative of Uncyclopedia to freenode staff, grant and revoke uncyclopedia cloaks, and solve problems related to our channels and users on freenode. Currently, the form requires that the person filing it be some sort of official representative and that a lot of personal info (which is kept confidential to staff only) be given so that the forms can be verified and so that our existence outside of IRC can be proven. How will this affect my Uncyc- channels? I have #Uncyc-cyber (please don't ask) and #uncyc-lite (It's supposed to be for serious #uncyclopedia talk, but demand flittered away after the strong initial support). currently registered, as well as #wikia-cabal. Update!!!

JSharp has just been approved as the Group Contact for Wikia, Uncyclopedia, and many other wikis. Because of this, he now has control of #uncyclopedia and the #uncyclopedia-* namespaces as well as uncyclopedia/* cloaks. I wouldn't do that yet... I'm not sure if he knows about it or what cloaking scheme he'll use for Uncyclopedia's cloaks.
