Forum:MediaWiki "upgrade"
I have been told wikia updated MediaWiki to a newer and "superior" version. I have noticed a few of the scripts I for one use a lot no longer work, here is a list of these things (there may be more)
I may have missed some stuff, but is it possible to get these working again? And if so can someone fix them? ~Sir Frosty (Talk to me!) 01:47, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
- Also Preferences is broken. ~Sir Frosty (Talk to me!) 01:50, July 11, 2012 (UTC)
- I noticed that. I was wondering. Can't they wait a bit longer? --
- They've actually been waiting for like, four years (I think). We've been bitching about their lack of upgrading for ages, so it's a good thing. But yeah, lots of things are totally broken too. Mainly scripts apparently. The tagging script seems broken and the thing I have that gives me a button to press to see subpages (I forget whose .js that is) is only sometimes appearing. And sometimes my toolbox (probably from the same .js) doesn't show up. And I don't actually know how any of that works so I'm just going to add it to the list and hope the code fairy fixes it while I sleep. -RAHB 03:58, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if this has anything to do with anything, but Special:Upload appears to be broken when I use it. Just saying. ~[ths] UotM 04:09, 07/12/2012
- If all the upgrade does is make RecentChanges a little flashier and break everything else, one may wonder whether bitching about a lack of upgrades was in fact the right course of action. 03:57, 13 July 2012

- The "new messages" banner has changed. -- The Zombiebaron 04:14, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, that too. Also, on several occasions it has unwillingly logged me off and sent me back to the "Content Warning" banner, making it all but impossible to log back on. ~[ths] UotM 04:20, 07/12/2012
- And also it mauled me. That might've been a bear. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 06:21, July 12, 2012 (UTC)
- Div is also fucked somehow. Things centered with Div don't get centered right no more. -- 03:25, July 13, 2012 (UTC)
- "Huffed" became "deleted page," as according to this forum. ~[ths] UotM 04:28, 07/13/2012
- My preview button has been broken since the upgrade. It will not save any of the text on the page when you click "Preview" (meaning that when you click it, all of the text you just wrote goes *poof*, and is not previewed, but erased). →L A B O R A T O R I E S 14:35, 16 July 2012
- If you think about it, that's probably for the best. Now, if we can only get the 'save' button to do the same thing. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 15:40, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
I'm no longer getting the warning message
When I used to every single time I went on the site, logged in or logged off. I use Chrome Incognito, which murders all the cookies after each session, so I should be getting it. →L A B O R A T O R I E S 14:18, 13 July 2012
Let's just update all the affected system messages
A full directory can be found at Special:AllMessages. The "huffed" thing isn't what changed; it's that the new version of MediaWiki uses different interface pages. Who's for updating the new system messages? -- 01:35, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

- Your comment there (I assume it's yours, as your comments here and there roughly coincide) isn't funny or disruptive at all. You're a terrible Uncyclopedian. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 15:38, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

- This one. I'd say "The one right below mine", but they've already deleted mine, because they suck and they're poopy and I hate them. *Pout!*. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 15:50, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
- Which one's yours? (You do realize that A.I.F.W. is me?) -- 15:53, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
- Yes. That's yours. My assumption proved correct, because I'm a regular Sherlock Holmes. Mine is the one right above yours, the one that isn't there, because they deleted it. Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 15:55, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
