Could we maybe consider take it down a level on the bans? Especially on regular users? And consider doing away with the joke bans on regular users as well? It's never nice to recieve a ban, even if it's a joke. At least that's my thoughts. --ShabiDOO 20:00, October 12, 2011 (UTC)
Remove joke bans against users

- For. It clogs up the block logs, and it's a waste of time. There needs to be boundaries in it, or else it's op abuse. -- PLEB SIR Lollipop (TALK) - updated on 12 October 2011, at 20:03
- Against. I have been joke banned only twice and it made me feel special. Mattsnow 21:07, October 12, 2011 (UTC)
- For me at least, even seeing my name on that block log makes me think, damn Im being cut off from the community. Then I see, its just a joke, but it doesn't compensate for the shitty feeling I had before. I don't like it at all. --ShabiDOO 23:27, October 12, 2011 (UTC)
- Against. Per Shabidoo. --EpicAwesomeness (talk) 16:33, October 13, 2011 (UTC)
- For. Yeah joke bans aren't funny. -- The Zombiebaron 16:37, October 13, 2011 (UTC)
- Against. How would you enforce this, precisely? That question aside (and please, don't answer it, I'm not after an Mnbvcxz-style serious discussion of every aspect here) some people like joke bans. Some people used to go hunting for them. I got joke banned quite a few times before I got opped. Mostly by Mordillo. It actually made me feel more a part of the community in that people would want to have a joke with me. If you don't like it, I won't joke ban you. But I ain't gonna stop with the joke bans when I happen to pop by. (Mind you, I do tend to keep my joke bans to a reasonably short length of time, such as a handful of seconds. Just sayin'...) And one more question: why, exactly, is "clogging up the block logs" any kind of problem for anyone, ever? Why do you need a neat and tidy block log? Hang on, was that two questions? Oh bollocks, that was three, wasn't it? Four? Hnng.... *wanders off to joke ban self* --UU - natter 18:47, Oct 13
- Admins can do it to themselves if they feel like it, but if a user feels like an admin is purposely going after them, that's pretty much op abuse. Also, to be Mnbvcxz, you have to like BUTT POOP!!! (which nobody else does). -- PLEB SIR Lollipop (TALK) - updated on 13 October 2011, at 18:55
- A joke ban, as I see it, is kind of like getting called "ya fuckin asshole" after you beat your friends in basketball. Like Under user says, it's all but aggressive, it's just a sign of camaraderie. --
- I just don't get the drama here. The only way a joke ban could be detrimental is if it came right in the middle of a big edit. Other than that, it's funny, if the reason given is funny of course. Mattsnow 22:21, October 13, 2011 (UTC)

- Joke bans are funny, and they don't last long. It's not like you're getting fined for anything.--- 00:55, October 14, 2011 (UTC)
- Against. Why else would I want to be a sysop? --Scofield & The Machine 11:30, October 14, 2011 (UTC)
