Forum:BHOP music club
So I've just learned that Zombiebaron likes underground hip-hop, RAHB produces music, TheHappySpaceman is a huge fan of The Doors and we even have a last.fm page. Since there might be many more people who like music, I'm opening up this thread to discuss music; the theory behind it, the talents of very artists, even basic things like what's your favorite artist and your favorite song from said artist.
About me, I'm into certain kinds of hip-hop; particularly the underground boom bap scene. I like rock and certain kinds of pop and I'm definitely impressed by the guitar riffs on a Slayer record but hip-hop is my main love. I believe that dusty drums and discordant tones is the key to making a good dark hip-hop track; to me it screams confusion and brings the listener in to their frustrated world. That doesn't mean I don't like happy hip-hop. "What We Do" by Freeway certainly has an upbeat tone and yet the track still rocks hard; in addition whenever high-pitched synths pop up in a song, it immediately makes me want to dance. DJ Quik for example.
So what about you? RedHot (talk) 00:36, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Me (Cuz I deserve a section all to myself)
I like a diverse range of music. Actually... I know this sounds generic, but I like what appeals to me. To meet that standard, a song must meet at least 2 of the following criteria. A: Song should have an interesting beat. B: Song should not be repetitive as fuck. C: Song must have a deeper meaning as a whole, or C.2: Have many metaphors. D: The song may be produced in an interesting manner, or with unconventional instruments/singing/etc. D.2:This may be obtained with Voice Synthesis, or Instrument synthesis. Now, I have a few more criteria, but what I've found, is that Vocaloid J-Pop (afaIk) has most of my criteria. However, I also like electronic music, (NOT DUBSTEP FUCKERS) and some hip/hop or rap. I also like some classical music. --The Shield of Azunai DSA510 Insight into the mind of an aspergian: 00:57, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Self-promotion time!
I released an album with my band Dark Matter back in April. It's mostly a piano rock type of thing, though it also blends in influences from post-grunge and the like. Here's the link. Or, if you can't afford the entire album, I've also released one of the tracks as a digital single. ~[ths] UotM 01:22, 07/29/2013

My name is AwesomeMatthew. Friend me and you'll see that like DSA510, I have a diverse range in music too. I'll fuck listen to anything that moves. You name it, and I'll probably listen to it. Unless it's bubblegum pop, dubstep or jam bands. I'll listen to anything, but I won't listen to that. Matter of fact, I even listen to Bollywood music, do you do that, DSA510? Let's get some actual discussion going on
What do you think of Captian Beyond; certainly I think they're one of the most underrated bands out there. The way they use their guitar and melody definitely clicks with you and transports you back to a time where things were simple and life was nothing more than an enjoyable pleasure. Everybody seems to think their 3 album discography is just fine but I would of liked to see more from them, especially in this day and age. Thoughts? RedHot (talk) 20:08, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
