Forum:Articles = Users
Today, we have witnessed a monumental stepping stone into complete and utter... something. Today, uncyclopedia's article and user counts collided, leaving us with 18,248 articles, and 18,248 users. Congratulations to everyone involved. t o m p k i n s blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 22:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

- Crud, I missed the Unpocalypse as I was sleeping. Never mind, it seems that the prophecised judgement day never actually occurred. Oh dear, this is quite bad, actually. It means that each registered user has created less than one page each. I think it might be a good idea to delete some of those pointless user accounts that no-one is ever going to come back to. Deeper Meaning
I'm inclined to believe there might be some deeper meaning to this occurrence, namely that we need to clean up our user list a whole bunch. --Sir gwax (talk) 19:59, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- There is a maintenance script included with the MediaWiki software which can delete any/all usernames that have never posted, but it would need to run from the server command line. Unless Wikia wants to deal with this cleanup task, it's out of our hands. --Carlb 20:07, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm... anybody think they could set it up? It'd be nice to get rid of a few of those users... to see how many we really have. t o m p k i n s blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 04:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Just to clarify, "clean-up" means deleting both users that never posted and perma-banned users, right? ~CaputosistheHorrible20:12, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think it cleans up perma-banees, but if we delete all their edits then we might be able to. ~ 07:34, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- If somebody can run it on Uncyc, then perhaps someone can do the same on UnMeta also. ~ 15:59, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

- I just hope the we don't realize that there are really only say 100 users of the site after said "clean up". --ZB 22:16, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
What we would do if we were to run the script, which I hope we do
- Change the sitenotice to explain about the steps below.
- Unblock all registered users.
- Block all non-admin registered users for the duration of following steps (may require another script).
- Delete all of the userpages (may require yet another script).
- Run script.
- Go to Special:Listusers and recreate the userpages of all users still on Uncyc.
- Unblock all users left on Uncyc (may require a fourth script).
- ???
- Profit!
- Not much point in deleting the userpages of all users who never posted. Pretty much by definition, every one of them will be blank. Nothing to delete there. --Carlb 11:34, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well if the userpage doesn't exist then it can't be deleted... I think that's implied. ~ 15:41, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
bad statistics
i've heard that statistics all over Wikia have been really screwed up lately. (i.e. inaccurate) that might explain this occurrence. Still, I call Russian Reversal, because, in Soviet Russia, article claims YOU!! --Nerd42eMailTalkUnMetaWPediah2g2 21:39, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Mystery solved
There are 9458 registered users who edited uncyclopedia at least once, according to the new Special:Statistics. This means that each one of us can actually call for two articles instead of one. I call Two---Asteroid B612 (aka Rataube) - Ñ 11:43, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, that's just edits to Articles, which means it doesn't count edits made in any other namespace. So, it's not entirely accurate. t o m p k i n s blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 18:25, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, a registered user who has never edited a mainspace article should't be counted anyway---Asteroid B612 (aka Rataube) - Ñ 19:08, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- But that doesn't end the fact there there are too many usernames clogging up special:listusers and the like. ~ 16:02, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
somebody went to alot of effort to make some of those user names. Hate is a bad thing.--Sir Silent Penguin "your site makes no sence" The illusion is complete 17:56, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
