Hello, Sequence, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! Thanks for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If not, the door's right over there... no, a little more to your left...Not that far, goddammit! ...Yeah. Anyway, here are a few good links for nooblets:
If you read anything at all, make it the above two links, particularly the second one. If you want to find out more about Uncyclopedia, or need more help with something, try these:
If you feel like asking someone for help, feel free to ask me on my talk page, in the help forums, or on the Uncyclopedia IRC channel. With the forums and the IRC, keep in mind that the first response of the community is almost always general silliness. We are after all, a silly wiki, run by numerous silly, silly people. When you edit discussion pages, though, make sure you sign your name, using four tildes (~~~~) or the "sign" button (Button sig.png), above the edit box. This'll automatically produce your name and the date, and lets everyone know who the hell you are. Signing will also help you avoid the {{tilde}} template.
When you write articles, make sure you start with enough on the page so that it's not deletion-quality. If you must create a stub that you plan to expand on in the near future, use a {{WIP}} or {{Construction}} tag to mark it as a work-in-progress. However, if you leave a tagged WIP unedited for a full week, it'll wind up huffed. If the idea of impending deletion doesn't appeal to you, you should like I do, and start pages in userspace, first. This means making a page like User:Sequence/Article about stuff. In userspace just about anything goes(save for the obvious no-nos, like shock pics or other stupidity), and you can build and rework your page(s) at your leisure. Once it's done, just move into mainspace, maybe getting a pee review at some point to get constructive feedback on your article.
For new users seeking help, the Uncyclopedian Adopt-a-Noob program is there to bring experienced editors straight to you. Browse our list of available mentors, and leave them a message on their talk page.
Lastly, and most importantly, have fun with it! As a comedy wiki, that's kinda what Uncyc is for. Enjoy yourself, and remember to never take anything anyone here says too seriously. We have serious moments, but generally we stay pretty laid back. Also, I'm not a bot. Just 'cause you saw a similar message on a bunch of other users' pages doesn't mean I didn't have to copy and paste this one onto yours with my own meatsack of a finger. Anyways, welcome to the machine! - T.L.B. Baloon.gif WotM, UotM, FPrize, AotM, ANotM, PLS, UN:HS, GUN 12:59, Jul 31

Cheerios[edit source]

  1. Thank you for the review.
  2. Did you know? ... all those varieties of Cheerios listed -- from organic to Millenios -- are taken straight from the Wikipedia entry. It's true. They're all real. Horrific, innit? But yes, I think I shall remove Millenios from the list and replace it with ... er ... oh, Berry Burst Cheerios, which should probably be first of the also-sold list.
  3. Yes, Avena sativa is oat. Well spotted. The name avenasativa is actually intended to be a generic name for the drug, you see. So avenasativa is to Cheerios as atorvastatin is to Lipitor. Hope that clarifies some stuff.
  4. I will have to develop the FDA section a bit. This is true.
  5. Good ideas on clinical use and the Peanuts adverts, as well as the general concept, and I will make sure to use them. Thank you.
  6. Will look into awkward diction and wording as well.
  7. Erm, that's all the feedback addressed, I think. In conclusion, thanks.
  8. Hope you do review some other articles!

Orion Review[edit source]

Thanks for your review! In it, however, you mention that the concept I chose wasn't that great. This comes as a bit of a surprise to me, for the (Featured) article Akira Kurosawa uses a similar approach. As per some of the concerns you raised: The characters of Lionel and Linda Irving are (in my mind) supposed to be a satire of the way most people see Orion, and by extension the entire night sky. Take a look at Akira Kurosawa, and then at my article again. Does this change your opinion of Orion? Again, thanks for the review!--You know what the music means... Our time is up. 13:52, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

After reading over the Akira review I get what you were aiming to do much better. Although obviously this meant that in it's current state it won't be immediately obvious to most people. If you are going to run with the 'a lot of people are shallow fools' joke then it could turn into quite a good article. In that I case I would probably work more on the formatting that you had, because the way it seemed to irregularly quote them was probably the biggest reason why the jokes didn't work in my opinion. As I said in the review the sarcasm was also kind of blunt, which ruined the effect. It's kind of late here and I'm trying to finish up a review for another piece, but if you want tomorrow I could start putting some ideas on the Orion discussion page and we could start trying to rewrite the article in a style similar to that one on Akira Kurosawa. Sequence 14:33, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay, that sounds good. I also put up the article for another review, so I can get another opinion on it. Thanks again!--You know what the music means... Our time is up. 14:39, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

My view on the 500ft thing[edit source]

Hi, I have considered your article and the review and have a couple of comments.

Firstly, this shouldn't be seen as me undermining the reviewer, he is new at PEE review and everyone has different opinions. I thought your article was intelligently written and genuinely finny in places, whereas he found that the comparisons to the modern day were more amusing and the rest was "Pointless drivel". I think that you should take a look at some of the featured articles on similar topics and see what they do, evidence is better than opinion, as far as I can see a large number of references to the word turd and a difficulty recognising HTBFANJS doesn't make for a good article, but some people find that amusing and we shouldn't complain because of that. Ultimately it is up to you, if you like the tone of the article then you should stick with it and make it as good as you possibly can.

My view on the article currently is that it is a lot better, the main problem section is the "Depiction in recent popular media" one. It is OK to stay, the writing needs attention, it starts to slip from the superb tone of earlier in the article and a couple of the points are just plain unfunny. I also liked the image you had in the info box before. If you are going to use the kitten one then why not use it at the section where you actually do invoke some censorship, where you talk about 500ft tall turd monsters copulating? This way it would make far more sense and probably get far more laughs. Otherwise your tone is still good and the article is mostly improved in ways that I see as very positive, well done. If you need anything else, or you have any more queries or qualms then feel free to drop by my talk page. Also, good to meet you. --ChiefjusticeDS 16:52, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi again, I thought I would drop by and commend you for some excellent work on PEE review, I have been looking at your reviews and they are, for the most part, superb. You haven't reviewed one of my articles, but I still think this is deserved for a couple of your others. Well done and keep it up. --ChiefjusticeDS 21:39, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for this mate, as well as the comments for my article that you posted above. I'll try and help out on the queue as much as I can although at the moment I'm the only at home taking care of our new puppy and she needs pretty much constant attention. I had a page sitting open for the whole day and was only able to finish the edit for it just then since she has gone to sleep...zzz. Oh and nice to meet you too.Sequence 14:33, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi Sequence, thanks for the compliment, just thought I would come over here and echo Chief's sentiments too. MUCH APPRECIATED REVIEW OF Joe Pesci[edit source]

Hi Seq!!! Thanks for the very helpful review. I made all the changes you suggested (except the 99/100 quote, which is from Casino. See, in a Norris joke the 1% chance would be totally fucking impossible). I also made new picture of Home Alone to replace the "ant" nonsense. I also made only one quote at the start which is changed around to Pesci threatening the Director of Casino. Let me know what else too do. You help is greatly constructive. BTW: Both Casino and Goodfellas are two of the greatest movie ever made, with Pesci freakin' just awesome. Thanks...--Funnybony 13:14, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for writing it :). I took a look at the page and the formatting looks better now. I also like the new home alone picture, the one with the ant looked a little off. Good luck with it. Sequence 13:35, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Re:Articles[edit source]

Hi again. Right first of all I think that the 500ft turd article is excellent now and truly has a place on Uncyclopedia as an example of how articles about nonsense should be done. As for a VFH nom, you would have my full support if you decided that VFH was where you wanted to take it. However there is no vouching for taste and you should be prepared to receive comments like "Not that funny" and "Didn't think it was anything special". If it was my article I would be hesitant about nomming it but equally I nommed my article when I was pleased with it and you shouldn't be afraid of doing so with yours, you might get some pertinent feedback and if it fails then at least you gave it a shot, worse articles have gone to VFH.

As for Alien Abduction Insurance you are heading down the right lines with it now, and my advice would be to carry on refining it, experiment with new ways to express the same thing and try to be consistent with your tone throughout. My main suggestion is that you start some liberal use of the {{USERNAME}} template. Instead of "it was that guy again" it could be "It was that idiot <insert name here> again". Also consider putting the username template onto the top line of the contract, that way it proves the reader's idiocy.

If you need anything else then just let me know here or back on my talk page. Good luck. --ChiefjusticeDS 17:25, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting the Firefly article! <sarcasm style="obvious">Although, if I may, my plan was really to have it fail VFH after 11 days, have it quasi-featured, start a "Feature Firefly" campaign, and eventually rewrite and have featured the article on Serenity (which is kind of in a mess at the moment).</sarcasm> But thanks anyway!

Macmanialek.png
Thank you so much

for supporting my nomination for Writer of the Month.

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my shift away from writing. The reason is very simple.

As the intelligence of the average Internet user has exponentially decayed, Internet media in general has seen major paradigm shifts, from newsgroups to webcomics to lolcats. Clearly writing is dying, and Photoshop is taking its place. Visual puns such as the one at left are just as funny, and take massively less effort.
Get it? MacMania? A Macintosh wearing a Scottish kilt (because the username begins with "Mac") gone mad (and therefore transformed into a Dalek)? Oh, forget it, I'm sticking to writing.

Yeah sometimes you get reviews that you definitely aren't expecting but that can often come down to what types of things the reviewer found funny. For instance I gave the Orion article a very low score partly for the same reason I gave yours a lower score (I just don't find blunt sarcasm slightly in the funniest) and it ended up getting featured relying on jokes of a similar style as to what I advised not to use. Although I still didn't find it funny even when it was featured, I just don't like to vote against articles of VFH since I might not find funny others might, and what I might find amusing others might not find amusing.
