We've got a winner. Even though I nominated this one, I've really no idea how we should preceed. Not only that, but since I'm a fan I'm afraid I may be too close to this to come up with a concept that isn't fancruft. So I'm counting on you guys' help. -OptyC Sucks! CUN19:33, 16 Sep

It has begun[edit source]
Ok I started the article. What I wrote may totally suck but we have to start now or forget it. Here's why I wrote what I wrote:
- Some people seem to like Transformers as transsexuals
- Transformers really did begin in 1984 when the American Federal Communications Commission first allowed cartoons based on toys, and was an America-Japanese co-production
- Dakko-Chan was and is the mascot for Takara Co., Ltd. which made the toys, and he looked like a golliwogg (a black African based character that became unpopular because it was seen as being racist)
- "Little Boy" really is the name given to the bomb the Enola Gay dropped on Hiroshima in 1945
- The 1984, Oceania and Eastasia part is from George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four
- If you don't like what I wrote, fix it, change it, write something completely different. But whatever you do, they'll be something here! :) DAP Dame Pleb Com. Miley Spears (talk) 05:15, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
- hi, miley! PLS's up so everyone's gonna write something, and i seriously doubt that anybody is going to contribute to IC, so lets just just leave this IC project till after PLS.. and in the meanwhile, why dont you write something for PLS and maybe win yourself 20 bucks? :) • • • • 10:16 October 6 '09
- Yeah, I think putting it on hold might be a good idea (although I think it's been on hold too long already). Can you really win 20 bucks for putting in only, say, 10 hours work on an article? Wow, such a deal! King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 22:36, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
- Who's the fool who made that comment above? Oh, was that me? Sorry about that. By the guidelines for these things, this article should already be finished. Telling editors who want to work on it "No, you'd better not write anything on it because the rest of us will be off trying to win an award" seems rather ungood in retrospect. - It was more like, put it on hold so that we (that's me, optimuschris, my mommy and his mommy.. and other users and their mommies) can participate in this IC project after we finish our PLS projects (opty and his mommy are starting theirs later this week) It's quite simple actually, there was no need for the critic/sarcastic tone • • • • 23:13 October 9 '09

A couple things[edit source]

Possible Ideas[edit source]
- Do younger Transformers get pressured into following their father's footsteps. Is Daddy upset when junior becomes an aeroplane after a long family history of haulage?
- Or maybe on the transexual theme, the Transformers are born as who they are but maybe have identity issues. Has one that converts into a helicopter always felt like a Ferrari. Can they have some kind of vehiculer change operation?
- I think this idea has definite potential. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 05:44, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
- What did Transformers change into before the Industrial Revolution?
- If they were created during a nuclear attack on Hiroshima as it's written now, this is a non-issue. If not, it may be. But personally, I think trying to make transformers pre-industrial will tend to complicate this article. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 05:42, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
- Do they change for the first time at puberty? Is changing for the first time the human equivililent of shaving for the first time?
- I like this. Fits the classsic change at puberty theme. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 05:40, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
- Do they resent being judged by which vehicle they change into? Do they want to be judged on who they are inside. Do some of them refuse to transform for this reason?
- Can they help transforming? Could it be one of them tries not to transform, but just can't help it? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 05:44, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
mAttlobster. (hello) 11:24, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
- Along the line of identity issues: Do they have "color envy" - ie, he's a red Transformer but always wanted to be green?
-- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 05:44, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
I've made a few of the suggested changes and more or less rewritten the article to include almost all of the stuff that was already there. Main things that still need doing are the 'Reasons for Transforming' area, which needs more reasons and the ones that are there need (re)writing, a section about the new movies, a couple more pictures and possibly the adding of more robots. Personally I think it's not a half-bad article now, though, but it might benefit from including a few of the nice ideas detailed on this page... UnwiseOwl 03:53, January 12, 2010 (UTC)
Japan vs Cybertron[edit source]
Looks like we have a version conflict between a couple groups of writers. I like the Cybertron version better because it is closer to the actual, and is less likely to be offensive to Japanese and Japanese transexuals. Offensive is not always funny. That's my opinion, anyway. -- Simsilikesims(♀UN) Talk here. 02:30, October 9, 2009 (UTC)
- Also, the whole Japan thing was random and juvenile. Unless someone can come up with a betterer concept, we're going with Matt's suggestion. Approach the article as if Transformers were real. Colin has expressed interest in writing the fetishism section, and I'm thinking I'm gonna take a wack at the oedipal section. Further suggestions are always welcome. We need a better intro to tie it all together if someone wants to give that a shot. -OptyC Sucks! CUN15:26, 9 Oct

Infighting[edit source]
I'm new here, but I'm wondering if one of the major problems IC has had is infighting. We have an article that by the IC plan would have been finished weeks ago. But so far what we have are editors reversing each others edits. I tried to make a compromise, but it appears some don't want to compromise. Rather pointless in a group effort, isn't it? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 21:30, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

- The problem was that your "compromise" was terribly one-sided, reinstituting the definition of Transformers as transsexuals. The point OptyC raised was that the transsexuals idea was bad to begin with, with which I quite agree. That is to say, it's a bad concept to base the complete Transformers article on. Basically the only humor would be "You were expecting to find an article on robots, but instead you found one on transsexuals. HAHAHA!" Which is far too limited in my opinion. Now, some transsexual-related issues might be of relevance to the article (see Matt's suggestions) and perhaps you could make a section treating the issue of male robots transforming into feminine vehicles and vice versa, but at least make the transsexual theme less obvious.
- To clarify, I didn't vote for this article, never had a Transformers toy, haven't seen the Transformers movie, and generally left the room when my family wanted to watch Transformers on TV. I really had no plans to work on this article, but wanted to at least do something as an IC applicant and saw an edit war beginning. If you don't like what I did, that's fine. Where they from, when they from?[edit source]
- In relation to this article, did Transformers come into being in 1984, or did they just first appear on Earth in that year?

Question[edit source]
If I contribute majorly to the project, and it becomes featured, do I get credit and get raised to CUN, along with the fancy Mr. Potatohead blue featured article template on my page?-
- Everyone who participates gets a half credit if the article goes on to become featured. I believe (though it's been a while since I looked at the requirements) that you need a full featured article credit to be promoted to CUN. So, if you participate in two IC's that get featured, you're golden. -OptyC Sucks! CUN23:44, 23 Oct
- Well my world domination article didn't become featured, only the featured HowTo (Whether or not this counts as half or any credit, I don't know), so if Transformers becomes featured (which is questionable right now), I guess I could become CUN. But that's my theory. As you can see, I'm no Socrates.-
Just when you thought I had some sense I go and open my mouth[edit source]
I couldn't help but notice that several people were starting to work on the Transformers article a few weeks ago. Then there was a little revert warring, followed by some insults on people's talk pages, and some people were told on talk pages not to edit it until PLS was over. So people stopped editing, and now that PLS has been over for a while, nothing's happening. So I was wondering if, maybe, insulting people and their edits and then telling them not to edit wasn't such a great idea for a collaborative effort? King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? - Also if I just move this, will it screw up the history or something? If someone knows how to do it right, let me know or go ahead and do it. Father WHY??? (confessions) 20:40, January 14, 2010 (UTC)

- Admins? We don't need no stinkin' admins! (Seriously, I'm open to suggestions). Also Brother UnwiseOwl, welcome to the church, even if your sig currently has a break in it. Father WHY??? (confessions) 02:33, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
- I posted 10 days ago I planned to move this unless someone told me it was a bad idea. No one's told me that, so I'm assuming it's not a bad idea. If I do something that screws something up, I'm also assuming someone will fix it. I think most if not all of us would agree this has been here way too long. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? - MrN9000 fixed it. You can tell from the name he's a Transformer, or at least a robot. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade??? (royal court) 23:38, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

- If you're frightened it's because you're a native who's afraid to be colonized, what? Do not be afraid. Before you know it you'll be Lord or Lady Muck driving your lorry home for tea time and to watch the cricket on the telly. King of the Internet Alden Loveshade???
