So our third Poo Lit Surprise competition has ended with nary a hitch. In my opinion the PLS has been a big success with essentially no drawbacks (especially now that Wikia is providing the money...or at least has for the last two contests), but we can always improve. So for the next PLS (which won't be happening for several months at least, mind), what would you like to see? —rc (t) 06:55, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Serious suggestions
- More variety in the writing categories. Best Article, Illustrated Article, Noob Article and Rewrite are all worthy categories, but I'd like to see some more offbeat or creative ones. For example, we could have a theme category - Best Article about a US President, for example, or Best Article on a Country. This could help flesh out a particular area of Uncyc that needs help. Or we could create a pool of ten or fifteen images and make a category in which the writers would have to choose at least three of them and create a coherent article with them. Note that adding more categories may be contingent on getting more award funding, since the four we already have are perfectly good in themselves. —rc (t) 06:55, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Option to post submissions anonymously. Making everyone post their articles through a sock or with the help of an admin would be too much trouble (though I considered it for the first PLS), but we should make it clear that it is an option if any of the writers are concerned about judge bias. —rc (t) 06:55, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep rotating organizers and judges. This is a good thing, I think, for all involved. Let different people participate in different ways each time, as we've been doing already. —rc (t) 06:55, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Best 'Chopped Article, rather than Best Illustrated Article, to encourage the next gen of 'choppers and their flagrant disregard for leaving found pictures unretouched. --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 07:22, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Seconded I agree with everything Modusoperand just said about things. --The Zombiebaron 03:43, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Worst written article. I'm not talking about a blank page or an article that says I pwn you heXXORed NOOBS fuck you blah blah blah' but something that is written bad in a good way. Do I make any sense? ~ 10:26, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Keep it a secret until just beforehand- So no-one can start working on their articles before the time-period. I'm not suggesting this was a problem this time round or anything, it just seems like it could be. --Sir Jam 12:43, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- This may not be feasible, but... a larger number of judges would mean a fairer, more rounded result. -- Hindleyite Converse • ?pedia 13:22, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- I can't speak for all the judges, but <emoticon for face with tongue sticking out>. Also, I agree. More judges would damp out the votes of the insane and easily bribed. /me babbles incoherently and gazes out window at my brand new Lexus. --Sir Modusoperandi Boinc! 13:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Best audio - we need more people getting out there and recording. -- 14:51, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, yeah, I like this idea. But would they have to write the article as well? —Braydie 14:53, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- Depends on the article, I guess. Unknownfile's reading of Woodchuck definitely deserved a prize of some kind, despite the fact that I wrote most of the article. -- Whhhy?Whut? How? *Back from the dead* 17:30, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

- All the "best rewrites" should have "before" and "after" links to show how much they've improved.
- More Categories - specifically one for UnNews, UnBooks, HowTo and so on - all the major namespaces. --Composure1 00:45, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- A People's Choice Award - Let expert judges still pick the actual winners, but let everyone also vote on a "people's choice" of best articles, sort of like it's done on VFH. --Composure1 00:45, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Best Image Just a straight up VFP style image-ho-down. Would be nice, since I can't write for beans. --The Zombiebaron 03:42, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

- Could we create an award for "User of the Year who's name begins with 'bra'"? We could do one for both 2006 and 2005. Also, I'd like for the award to grant a new ranking above GUN: BUN. Someone else get to work on this, I'm too
