Thanks for the subscription. ;) I'm glad there are still some 1-2 year old overnight successes left. Wish I had the time to write some more. My goal is to eventually polish some of the ones left in the vault. That seems more reasonably attainable, given that life is only getting busier. Given the recent Dio publication though (as written, with the addition of a nice outro from OEJ), I (still) can't tell which of mine are crap, and which were just never noticed.

I do miss this place, you, and a handful of other ne'er-do-wells who shall rename nameless (mostly out of respect for their families) and aliasless (mostly 'cos I'm too lazy to make out the full list).

Well...that may very well be true, however in the example cited the individual was dealt with based on his actions on Uncyclopedia, ie openly talking about his actions on THIS website. If Colin's actions had been brought to the community via the Forums he would in all probability ended up with a token ban as a slap on the wrist. In this case I think there is a serious COI on your behalf, either you are acting on behalf of Wikipedia or you are acting on behalf of Wikia. At the very least you should have talked it over with the community to make sure that any COI, perceived or otherwise, wouldn't be an issue. Just for the record before I unbanned I sought the opinions of other admins and all but one agreed that a ban here overstepped the mark for the reasons highlighted above. -- Sir Mhaille  (talk to me)

I acted for Uncyclopedia, as an admin, exactly as I and others have acted in the past (in more than just the case I linked above, it's hard to track examples of course). Colin was bragging on #uncyclopedia about his vandalism of the user page of an Wikipedian who is an Uncyclopedia critic, in revenge for an edit that user made. I had already warned the channel as a whole that vandalism of Wikipedia was not a suitable reaction to the edit. His actions showed us all up, and will help to reinforce our critics' opinions of us.

Another admin was present and agreed with my action (I think his words were something like "damn, you got to the on-wiki ban before I did"). I was fully expecting the ban duration to be reduced after discussion with Colin and an understanding that it won't happen again (again, standard practice). So all in all I don't feel I overstepped here.

This is in no way a Wikia matter. As Wikia staff I see this purely as a local issue, to be dealt with by local admins (like myself). However, I am aware that it's easy at the moment with the bad feeling about Wikia for that to carry over into my non-staff actions. I've said before that I would step down as Uncyclopedian admin if this sort of conflict happened (to restate, I don't think the ban was a COI, but I do see that my dual role is likely to be part of the perception of and reaction to that ban) but, dammit, I don't want to! I like being an admin here! Perhaps it will be necessary, but I would like to try and hold on to both roles for now. -- sannse (talk) 16:44, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

I support Sannse's actions, as per the comments I made 2 1/2 years ago. Vandalising wikis - almost any wikis - raises issues of trust and responsibility that need to be clarified. Also, attacking our critics is a petty and pathetic move, and puts us on a par with Scientologists. Isn't that nice? I agree completely, however in the precedent that you point out there was a discussion within the Forum before action was taken, which therefore make it community led. The perception, regardless of sannse's good intentions, was of a conflict of interest. I will have to check through the logs but there was also another case of vandalising a wiki a few years by users on this site, and one that I believe had a lasting effect on the poor people who worked hard on making WNWiki the monument to national and cultural pride that it became. Know of any URL witchcraft that can make an entire page black-and-white? I recently rewrote the Ingmar Bergman page for the Conservation thingy, and the black-and-white Ingmar Bergmany aesthetic I was going for is sort of ruined by the garish shades of green of the "great directors" template. I still want the template there, but want the article in B&W. Know of anything I might be able to do?

Emo

I still think "whatever" is too much underlining but won't go sulking because you switched it back. Another idea - what if the insult contests started as those, but then turned into self-insulting contests, and then suicides (this is a minor change but the idea is somewhat different)? If there's a reasonably good way to depict one I'd like to have it on there to give life to the text. Otherwise the lyrics will do it so let's not force it I suppose. I don't know if the predecessors-section is useful unless we find some way to mock some shitty artists from earlier time. I took care of the lyrics section - I think an interview with a surviving rapper would be good. We would get first-hand information of what happened in their emo battles. What if they set out to go to a rap battle, packing heat and all, and by the end of the battle it had transformed into a full-blown emo battle: wrists slashed, people shooting their own brains out. Another idea?

Mhaille, I'm curious if there was ever any talk of creating an Uncyclopedia-style parody of YouTube Hitler videos? A lot of the parody videos seem perfect for Uncyclopedia. I'm surprised there's not an UncycloMedia project for this (or at least a YouTube channel) since Wikipedia seems to enable video clips. Hello, I would like to request rollback rights here on uncyc. I have already requested these a while back from Mordillo, but he(?) said no. I have reverted over 250 cases of vandalism within the last few months, and this would help me get some more. Operations of the U.F.B.I. will once again be working. There shall be changes to some of the things we do (which I'm do not know at the moment) and if anybody wants to add something can talk to meabout it over a nice cup of coffee. Can you unblock {{Listen}} for me? It has this cascading block thing on it that I don't understand, and I just need to add something to the template to make it categorise articles it's on so as to better collect the audio-tised articles in a slightly organised fashion. And since you have shown up after a long period of inactivity, perhaps you'd like to weigh in on the talk page of VFS? I'm trying to get an another admin or two, but Spang, UU, Mordillo, and Chiefy say no because they think more admins will return now because it's summer. I guess your appearance confirms it...
