Some more template help please
Hey! So I recently created a template, Template:June Anniversaries. I wanna create one for each month to make navigating the anniversary pages easier. When I put the template on Uncyclopedia:Anniversaries/June 30, as expected, it showed up on the main page. Is there trick to make the template show up on pages like Uncyclopedia:Anniversaries/June 30, where it would be useful for editing, but not show up on the main page? Thanks! MrX 20:11, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- OK, no problem. Check out what I did. The 'noinclude' tags prevent transclusion. I also adjusted the layout for mobile but it's up to you. The 'A' utility spacer prevents the hyphen from showing up on the left of the template. There might be a way to populate the templates automatically, so you would only need to make one. I could figure it out but it would take me a long time, maybe JJPMaster can help. I'm working on a similar template for the mainspace articles, but it has to handle years and decades, etc. Let me know what you think!
- Thanks a bunch! The new layout looks really good too. I'm sure there is a way to populate them automatically, but yeah it seems like it would take a long time. I'm happy to create 11 more, that doesn't take too much time. Thanks again! MrX 21:16, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, setting them up as sub templates of the Anniversaries template is the way to go. Glad to help.

Hi there Zana. Can you help me with a techie issue? The span elements in this part of Pornography don't work on mobiles:
Pornography_(full_article)#Elements_of_pornography
Any idea why? Leverage (talk) 15:02, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Leverage: Yes, the mobile stylesheet ignores the 'sigexpand' class, among many other issues that I am not able to correct yet. I've re-added the original {{PopupImage}} template that was substituted some time ago to update the code. Hover effects are buggy on mobile, and overall not really supported, but the 'hide' function works. Let me know if you've any other issues, always happy to help. XOXO – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 18:48, 27 August 2021
- Great, thanks. I like the way you replaced all that span code with a simple template! I have deleted the old Pornography page, which was just a pretend disclaimer page whose text and image didn't line up well on mobiles either. Just not worth the time to fix it. I see the other issues you are talking about. This is where the clash between standard coding and Wiki stuff gives me a headache. Leverage (talk) 14:10, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
ICU
Hey so I was clearing through the ICU-category and I noticed that a good chunk of the articles you had tagged with the ICU-template were actually years old articles by now. Now, sure, a lot of the tagged content were articles that had just previously went unnoticed by the administrative purging team, so I treated this as a sort of mini-Forest Fire Week and deleted most of the obvious ones - pages like Uninterviews for example - but I do have an issue with tagging year old pages with a maintenance template mainly used for new articles. I know VFD is a long, tiresome process and most of the time leads nowhere, but the ICU is in general a helpful, guidelinish template quite strictly meant for new articles. So please don't tag older content with the ICU, unless it just really obviously needs to be taken care of. You had tagged some other articles which had previously survived VFD-votes and from which maintenance-templates had previously been removed, and, for example, you had tagged pages like Uncle Sam with years of page history and several ambitious rewrites and touchups, suddenly expecting them to go through some major changes again in just 7 days. It's just not very cool, that's all I mean to say. So in the future, could you please check out the page history first before tagging an article, pretty please? Thanks, 11:28, 25 September, 2021 (UTC)
- @Cat the Colourful: The reason I use ICU is because those are all uncategorized pages. Meaning the backlog is with new articles from a year ago. Since the user base is only about 30-50 at most, VFD would have a flood of 30+ pages. I'm not sure we want that either. If I was able to delete things this would not be an issue. There are still around 150-200 articles in uncategorized pages. Maybe you can take a look? Most of it is random cruft under 1000 characters. – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 14:02, 25 September 2021
- Well if you would have been able to delete all the pages you tagged with ICU you would have just purely abused your administrative rights. That is a bit concerning, especially seeing the few cases where you slipped on. I'm just saying that's not how the template works. But I'll take a look at some of the uncategorized pages later, sure. 14:45, 25 September, 2021 (UTC)
- I completely understand. I was referring to QVFD. In the future, please allow me to respond to my own talk page before interfering as you did with Candid Toaster. You jumped the gun quite a bit and there are still problems with the main page. – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 14:50, 25 September 2021

Favor please
Hey! If it's not too much to ask, could you please make the NFL biography infobox look like it did before? I undid a bunch of stuff, but it's still kinda off. That sports biography template looks nothing like the way it should for this article. Another one that I might undo is the infobox for criminal organizations. The new way just doesn't look right. It might only be in one article in my user space so far, but it does have the potential to be used elsewhere, and I don't see how having the template could hurt. If you really want, I guess it's okay to do that thing where you put a / after the article title like in Durian. Thanks. MrX 23:06, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- Another one that doesn't look right at all is Infobox person. MrX 23:14, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- These are sporks that cause script errors. I'm not sure what you mean by 'looking right'. My main concerns are adaptability and humor. Someone has to maintain these things, so if they are only used in one article they need to be subpages, but that doesn't fix the orphaned templates, empty categories and script errors. – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 23:44, 12 October 2021
- Infobox person had the worst of the script errors. As for the criminal organization template, there are at least 4 other infobox templates that are basically the same. Importing wikipedia templates should be discouraged, our category tree is completely different from theirs and many of the page-level templates (like infoboxes and navigation templates) cause a lot of error messages and maintenance flags. – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 00:17, 13 October 2021
- First off, I love you! You've been an invaluable and awesome help and presence and funny writer here! As for 'looking right', um, should I define those words lol? My main concerns are look and humor. It's important that the look of our articles matches the look of wikipedia, that makes our satire that much funnier. Obvi it doesn't have to always be that way in every single article, but that option should always be available. And these changes to the templates are making our articles look less like wikipedia, less like 'legit sources', and in some cases we're just missing items (one-liners, I know) and a lot of funny stuff. This has not been good.
- As for sporking and scripting errors and why they should be discouraged, well, as you probably guessed long ago, I am not very tech savvy. So, first off, thanks again for all your help! But I've been "dealing with" script errors for a long time. The final product looked good, so I didn't care about the script error. I agree we should eliminate script errors, but the final product, i.e. the reader's version, should come first. Totes happy to continue this discussion. I'm sure you have lots to teach me about avoiding future errors the next time I create a template. Again, you've been so helpful and I really appreciate it! MrX 06:31, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for the appreciative words. Requesting that I change the look of the templates is always better than reverting to deprecated code. Looking 'like Wikipedia' often requires perpetuating bad design choices. Wikipedia is currently going through a major overhaul to become mobile friendly and I have already done that for most of the templates here. This means that the 'look' of Wikipedia will eventually become more like my stuff, and I encourage you to be more open minded in that respect. At any rate, the style difference requires a simple setting of
|style=classic
for the old-style look on infobox person. – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 07:50, 13 October 2021- That style=classic kinda helped, but it still doesn't look right, the text is still smaller. What's the problem with bad and/or deprecated code? If our choices are bad code with good looks or good code with bad looks, we should go with the former. As for mobile friendly, it's great if we can make things more mobile friendly, but we shouldn't be sacrificing anything to do that. Mobile users can just scroll down, click desktop, and then everything looks the same. MrX 16:37, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
- The text is smaller so the nowrap property functions better. But I can fix that too *sigh*. I hope you realize how different other portions of the website look compared to Wikipedia and flagship that as well. The main page, for example. I tried several times to no avail and I have been tired of the negative feedback, especially after the nonsense with Zombiebaron so I am trying to appease you as best I can. As for bad/deprecated code I would hope that you know the answer already. Browser support will disappear. Like the nobr tag or the acronym tag, etc. Parsers, like math stop working, etc. Wikipedia sporks are littered with extra template calls and unnecessary code. You need to understand that the presentation of the templates is handled by css, not the template itself. So the look can be changed very simply as long as the code is up to date. No updated code, no easy style changes :/ – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 02:10, 15 October 2021
- Sorry for the late response. Thanks again for everything you're doing, and I'm sorry that there has been some negative feedback. But while bad code is a problem, bad looks are a bigger problem. Isn't there a way to work on the code in a sandbox or something before implementing it in a way that causes problems? MrX 19:29, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- When rolling out something large scale on existing templates, the short answer is no, there isn't. If by problems you mean minor spacing errors and style discrepancies, I think you're making quite a mountain. Category:Pages with script errors being empty is more important. There used to be over 200 pages there. Just saying. – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 22:38, 18 October 2021

- Wikipedia has over 4 different infobox template styles. Have you looked at the infobox style choices? Don't you think the ability to choose is cool? I think the style you prefer is ugly, quite frankly. {{Infobox legislature}} has particularly bad spacing errors I'd rather not perpetuate for the sake of parody. – ...·º•ø®@» LEG CUN GUN DUN 00:22, 19 October 2021
- Of course the ability to choose is cool. I would certainly love to be able to choose right now. As for whether we think wikipedia’s style is ugly or not, well, that should always be our default.
