Forum:Deletion policy, again[edit source]

Read your recent comments in the above forum, and obviously I agree with you 100%. While I doubt we will change the deletionists' minds on this issue, and they do have a point about the problem of high volume, low content/quality submissions, I think there is a middle path, which is the howto page I developed that tells n00bs how they can edit and create in their userpage subpages without being poked and prodded by deletionist admins, which is obviously not necessarily the greatest creative environment for some people.

Anyway, thanks for the comments, I think it's important to keep a debate alive on this issue, even if it doesn't go anywhere. A lot of people think that their views are the only ones that matter here. It's good to have at least some small space for alternatives, even if they are not accepted by everyone, or even the majority of the users. That's probably the essence of what a wiki is, after all, anybody can do anything within reasonable limits, and that means different people are entitled to have different, even antithetical, ideas, and still somehow find a way to work together anyhow.

--Hrodulf 21:26, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, at least one person agrees with me. Meh. Flameviper12 22:57, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Aaaaargh[edit source]

Flameviper, those Flammable libel pages were ALREADY DELETED. They show up in a search becasue Mediawiki detects deleted revisions when searching for a query string. All you've done is make extra work for me (as I'm now the one who has to go through and delete them all over again). Please man, ASK someone when you come across something like this. I saw the original note you left for Flammable on his talk page; if you feel that you need a response to a query immediately without waiting for the relevant admin to come online, look at the Recent Changes page and leave a note for an admin who's on duty. Had you done that, someone would have explained the above to you already, and we wouldn't have had to go through all this. Bottom line: If you're not sure what the appropriate action should be, find an active admin before instigating a change. Cheers. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 15:24, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

I know. Before, they were obscene. But now they say nice things about Flammable :D
It's more that if those pages must be there, at least make people a little more comfortable by making disclaimers as the content. Flameviper12 15:27, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
ALL YOU ARE DOING IS MAKING MORE WORK FOR ME! Stop making them, I've banned you for one minute to get your attention. We can find a way of removing them from the search results by editing the scripts. And offensive language is prevalent throughout this wiki. I hope our users generally are above being offended by the odd swearword in their search results. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 15:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Wow. Sorry dude. Erm...wow, you can ban someone for just one minute? I want a screenshot of the ban screen!
Here you go: [1]. Yep, we can ban from one second to infinity. Muahahahahaha and so forth. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 15:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Decorum[edit source]

Of course it's "crap" you moron, it's not even started yet

Talk pages are the way to ask admins—nicely—to undelete your article. Calling them a moron will just get you sent to the corner. If there is a "moron" here, blame the guy who neglected to mark his work in progress with a {{construction}} tag. But even by forgetting that, your template could have been restored had you asked politely and provided an explanation. ~ T. (talk) 14:56, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Please do not use the wiki space to create redirects to your userpage, either here or on other wikis. Especially trans-wiki double redirects. Ugh. Thanks. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 20:19, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

CHEESE, WOT WOT!!! -- Flameviper

That's fine if you're using User:Flameviper to redirect to another wiki userpage, but we don't like people using mainspace pages as username redirects. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 20:26, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

OK. Firstly, if I leave a message on your talk page, please reply there rather than on my talk page, otherwise the conversation gets fragmented (hence the reason I pasted your text above). To asnwer your question, we revert vandalism very easily, using the rollback button, which is how I removed the Harry Potter junk you just dumped on my talk page. Please don't do that again. -- Sir Codeine K·H·P·B·M·N·C·U·Bu. · (Harangue) 20:33, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

But how, Codeine, do you know if I reply? Surely thou dost not sittetm at thy keyboarde and waiteth for thee to respondeth to thine query? Or dost thy putteth it on thy Watchlist? Ande besides, thou hast put a redirect to thine Uncyclo talk page on thine talk page, thus to the transwiki. Why hast thou reverted it?

Umm, first off, stop being an ass. Beyond that, it'd be nice if you didn't consistantly create crap, and if you wouldn't create completely irrelevant double-redirects to your own work. Also, Don't vandalize pages. That's definately gonna get you banned. HOMESTAR ME!!! TURTLE ME!!! t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 17:45, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

NO, Haska was (whoops didn't intend to put 'no' in ALL CAPS) not crap and a half, what you saw was not what it was, argh...it wa a botched attempt to retrieve what was lost. Arrgh. Flameviper12 00:22, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Ugh... Please reply on your own talkpage if I left you a message there. I'll be watching it, and the conversation won't become fragmented. As for your article: you're right... It wasn't crap and a half. It was 2 full craps!!! EWWW! But, I'll tell you what I'll do... I'll restore it, and move it to User:Flameviper/Haska. That was it stays away from the main space, you can stay in the fantasy that it was great enough to be kept, and we needn't delete it again. Deal? Umm.. yeah.. just exactly what do you plan to do with the invention templates... and how many pages to you plan using them on? HOMESTAR ME!!! TURTLE ME!!! t o m p k i n s  blah. ﺞوﻦ וףה ՃՄ ண்ஸ ފއހ วอฏม +տ trade websites 21:58, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
I was making them so that...well, let's start. When someone creates an article, they just type in random things, like "invented by Vin Diesel in 1149", or some nonsense. If people are going to do that, you might as well give them a plain template to do it on, there's no sense in just having them all be the same, because it takes up way more space. I plan to have about 10 or 25 (yeah, big difference aint it) Invent templates and the same number of Person templates.
The cabal has discussed the matter, and we think it might be a good idea to, at least temporarily, stop the production of these templates. You see, the porblem is, there appears to be no pages currently using these templates, and until there are... it's pointless to keep creating more. So, it'd be a good idea to put the templates on pause, and actually start writing full articles that use the template(s) in some way. Thanks. Your edit-summaries[edit source]

What do they mean? Have you seen the Oracle? What did she say? And don't give me that "She told me only what I needed to know" crap, neither. --~ sin($) tan() 16:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

The Oracle told me that on July 6 2006, Wikipedia will be engulfed by a cloud of grey poo, then Chuck Norris would round-house kick it into oblivion. By "its maker", I think she meant that it was going to be formally introduced and shake hands with Jimbo. Although Wiki's really a bunch of servers strung together running on MediaWiki software, I don't see how that's possible. Unless it uses a cord or something as a hand, and has the psychological capacity (being a bunch of servers) to even comprehend what the hell's going on...I prefer the Chuck Norris version myself. "No userboxes?" Bullshit![edit source]

I notice you have an unhealthy obsession with userboxes, but you say that they don't work here. There are userboxes here, just not the same ones at WP. Try here to look for userboxes. And here, too. —Hinoa KUN (talk) 17:34, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I know what you're getting at, I don't mean that. I mean that I {{subst:}}'ed them. This would mean that they could be universally transwiki-ed, but when I copy-pasted them from my Wiki account, it didn't work. I'll try again here...

Ban from Template: namespace[edit source]

This message and attached complimentary 1 day ban is to serve notice you are hereby banned from editing or creating files in the Template: namespace for a period of no less than 2 months, and up to infinity.

You and your IP may make no edits or creations to that namespace until we the CABAL feel you are fit to do so. You are free to experiment with inclusions in your user space once you learn how to do so.

Fondest regards,

I could be missing something, but didn't flameviper agree to stop creating templates above?
From [http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/User_talk:Flameviper#May_I_Ask...]:

Now, something else could have happened I don't know about, but right now I don't understand what happened here.
--Hrodulf 15:25, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes, he was warned. Did he heed? Well.. lesse, I've huffed (since the warning) a handful of re-created crap templates, and in addition, he created Template:Person twice, and even attempted to overwrite Template:Random/person with "ALREADY A TEMPLATE FOR TISH!" despite the latter template having existed 3 to 5 months prior to his. See all his non-deleted "contribs" to Template:Namespace. Deleted contribs (to be fair, many of these were before the warning) include: Template:Body part, Template:Country, Template:LiteInsult, Template:Randvar, Template:Person, Template:Begin, Template:Anoun, Template:Years, Template:Invent, Template:Invent1, Template:Invent2, Template:Invent3, Template:Invent4, Template:Invent5, Template:Averb, Template:Aadv, Template:Bnoun, Template:Body part, Template:Person1, Template:2number, Template:3number, Template:3Number, Template:Animal, Template:3letter, Template:2letter, Template:Country, Template:LiteInsult, Template:Alien4, Template:Alien3, Template:Alien2, Template:Alien1, Template:Vowel, Template:Consonant. All in all, he has not done anything significant to improve that namespace, hence the ban, cosigned by 6 admin you might notice. --Splaka 00:18, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
I thought it was something like that, but I was just curious as to what had happened, since it was a little bit cryptic. I didn't mean to imply anything, I just didn't understand. Like I said earlier "something else could have happened I don't know about."
--Hrodulf 01:51, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Btw, how does the ban from one namespace work? Is that automatic, or is it a situation where he can do stuff, but if it's detected he will be banned? I'm asking because there was a discussion at [http://en.uncyclopedia.co/wiki/User:Mhaille/Stop_Mhaille_from_Making_Images_Petition] and the question of whether it was possible to ban someone from creating images came up. Based on this talk page, I said it was, but I wanted to make sure the information was accurate.

--Hrodulf 01:54, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

It is manual, which is the point of having a list of admin co-signing it. The undersigned admin will patrol and ban Flameviper or his ip (or any sockpuppet accounts) if they see him edit or create a template during his probation. We've done this before a few times, although rarely, where a contributor has some merit except in certain places (Kakun with VFP, Clorox/Nerd42 with Template, etc). --Splaka 02:03, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
That's what I assumed, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up.

QVFD[edit source]

The {{QVFD}} template is not for putting on pages to be deleted, but on the talk page of the creator of the article (reason). Read the template's instructions. --Splaka 10:03, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

I was trying for a Burninator award by rampantly and wontonly destoying all new pages that were crap. But there doesn't seem to be a widely accepted template for it. I tried a combination of QVFD and NRV, hoping that would get someone to delete it. So what do I do for, say, these...?
  • Crappy one-liners?
  • Short pages?
  • Short pages w/pictures?
  • Long pages that are still crap?
  • Random cruft?
Because I don't want to be putting random templates on pages in the hope it will work (or EVERY deletion template, for that matter). Thanks. Flameviper12 11:36, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Read this. Not every problem should be solved by putting a template on it. Pages like that go on Uncyclopedia:QuickVFD. --Splaka 11:44, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Heh. So...QVFD is useless I take it?
I thought so...but if it DOES ever go back into service, it should be made less confusing. Now it just looks like crap! Flameviper12 11:45, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
QVFD is not useless, it is just NOT for the articles, it is to serve notification on user talk pages of a page placed on Uncyclopedia:QuickVFD (or given some other delete notice). --Splaka 11:47, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Meh. Okey dokey then. But can you ive me a Burninator for my service? Flameviper12 11:48, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
You'd have to perform some service first. As is, I'm having to revert most of your NRVing. Lets clarify a few of the NRV rules guidelines: Don't NRV things that have {{Construction}} tags, don't NRV images, don't use offensive edit summaries when NRVing ("DIE CRUFT DIE"), don't put in offensive and falsly authoritive comments with the NRV tag "This seems kinda good, but REALLY badly made. Someone clean it up and maybe resubmit. For now, it's BALEETED." --Splaka 21:11, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
I was taking a tip from you...meh. All right. Cool, then. Thanks. Flameviper12 11:46, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Juste to cleare thinges up...[edit source]

  1. Art thou goinge to change thine userpage so it makes sense in Middel Anglish?
  2. In Middel and Olde Anglishes, -est was fore thou, -eth for he and she, and otheres are no different this morrow in verb suffixes (do is I do, We do, Thou dost, Ye do, He/She doth, They do).
  3. 'Ye' in the sense 'Ye Olde Anglishe' actually means 'The', and is only found in Olde Anglishe, which neither thou nor I comprehend.
  4. Wither doth not mean What, nor Thither meaning That. What and That are to be used for them.

This is juste some advice aboute thine 'Olde Anglish'. And also, per-haps thou should change your Wikipedia user page, whick I imagine is thine. ~ Ghelæ talkcontribs 15:50, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

1 Month ban[edit source]

Per Template_talk:Zorkheader, you very obviously and premeditatedly violated your parole and edited in the Template: namespace, hence the harshness of the ban. Also, {{title-left|Zork}} was already there. On the very next line. --Splaka 21:34, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

It has been brought to our attention that while you've been banned here, you've gone and got yourself a third indefinite block on Wikipedia [2] (soon after begging to be unblocked it seems). Due to your high count of blocks here as well as on Wikipedia, and also taking in to account all your contributions:

Your images...[edit source]

Must you add your username to all the images you upload? Signing articles isn't allowed, and I don't see why there should be an exception when the name is included via an image. It's bordering on vanity. In fact, it is. If people want to know who the image is by, they can look at the image's page. I could go through all your images and remove the name from them all, but I'll just recommend keeping your images free of it from now on. Spang talk 03:40, 26 Jan 2007

Well, they are my pictures. And I try to make my photosig unobtrusive and not obstruct the image (unlike CERTAIN people). If I made it any smaller, you couldn't read the name. I suppose I could abbreviate it to FV. My main concern isn't the Uncyclopedia non-attribution, it's the fact that it's public domain and that somebody will inevitable use it without attribution. I just want to take credit for my images. I guess I could remove it from the Uncyclohexane pictures, as they did not rewuire that much effort. Thanks for telling me about that. ~ Unflameviper Who's a Peach? 17:57, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
