Cookie!

Hey there! So where's my cookie? --Rcmurphy KUN 03:05, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Blast! ye figured out the secret. Ok, chocolate chip or oatmeal? Splaka 03:07, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Chocolate chip, most definitely. I quite like your images, by the way. --Rcmurphy KUN 03:15, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)

excellent template!

{{Boohoo}} is great! You should have the text read: They are playing My Heart Bleeds for You just for you.

That makes sure that the receiver knows just how sorry we are all for him or her. =)

Anyway, great work, Spläka!

How's that? (Tried to keep it kind of small and skinny). And thanks! Splaka 05:08, 21 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Burinator Award

I was considering widening the Burinator awrd to include those assisting in the deleteion of loads of Crap, i.e. those who place a load of Article on QVFD that are deleted (to avoid stuffing it full of ones that survive in order to get the award) but as the instigator I though I should check with you first. --Sir Elvis KUN FIC Bur. | Petition 11:05, 25 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Oh, totally go for it. This is a wiki, and my templates are no exception! If you can make it better, do. And I kinda know what you mean. I've been trying to add only the ones that get deleted, taking bets on ones that don't (I smell an addition to Gambling), also {{MTU}} them a bit more. I'm getting a bit better, of course with Flammable on duty it is easy, anything gets deleted, muahaha. Btw, if you can fix/expand cookie, feel free, I am still not happy with the image (and you can delete this useless old version... I've been meaning to QF it. Splaka 11:16, 25 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Space and time continuum was something i was proud of... well maby rather the best thing i coukd come up with at 5 in the morn. anyway, can you still get it? tomorrow i will definatly want to remember what was there that made it so "accurate" and right now (after half a bottle of scotch) i am concerned of me remembering (tomorow) what the hell was in it... rather, i cannot recreat it now and my memory of it is fading as we speak.

Hmm, you mean the reversions of that long title'd article? Well, that wasn't me either. Check the history of the page. You'll see it was Hessef and Flammable, all they did was revert to the last version by me. (Also, you can access old versions of it there.)
However, I thought you meant the deleted article from just a bit ago: 18:37, 25 Aug 2005 Famine deleted "Space-time continuum" (Bizzarely accurate article. Not even quite parody. It will probably upset people, but I'm whacking it.) --Splaka Bur. SG CM © 02:12, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

There was one kiddo I banned for blanking, and you found another IP doing the same sort of work. 63.19.158.71 (TalkContribs (del)Block (rem-lst-all)WhoisCityProxy?WP Edits) In the future, rather than pasting the new IP below the other banned IP, can you just create a new entry? It's easier to spot new banees that way, and the IP template helps speed our work along. Other than that, super work here. Thanks for all you've done - you've really made a difference. --Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 12:42, 17 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Okie dokie, will do. My problem, with that guy was that he was on his 3rd IP for the evening (I think). At the time, probably the best thing to do would have been an IP range for about an hour to discourage him (and the best way to convey that info would be with a single entry listing multiple IPs), but I didn't make that very clear in the entry I see now, so I'll only list multiple IPs if there are three or more by the same guy, and only use the IP template once in a line. Oh, and your you're welcome! --Splaka 20:35, 17 Sep 2005 (UTC) PS: The QVFD mentions that there is no need to sign one's entries and/or deletions, but I notice in ban patrol many people do sign it. Is it better to sign each entry for easier sorting? Or does that just make the entry a more confusing read (especially with an anonymous IP as the reporting party, heh).
Um, could you be a little clearer? Are you talking about signing QVFD enteries or Ban Patrol entries? Personally, I like to see ban patrol entries signed, even if it's an anon ip. Because if I don't know the signer, I often note their IP, and if I see lots of their edits interspersed with the baneee's edits, I assume both are guilty. If it's a user I know, I generally skip that step, since I can be fairly well assured that they aren't just trying to get someone banned for the hell of it. Another way of putting it is that anon ipers whine. Logged in users request assistance. --Bone F clear.png Sir Famine, Gun Petition » 02:27, 18 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Ok, here is a bit more transparent. Sorry for the confusion. What I was asking was: I know many pages where one votes one is required/requested to sign entries. However, on the QVFD it is noted that one doesn't need to. This made the requirement ambiguous on the Ban Patrol (which is closer to the QVFD in 'fire and forget' for the non-admin), so I wanted to know what your opinion on it was. But you've just answered that, thanks! Sorry, bad pun, cheers. --Splaka 02:34, 18 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Corn Pops Guy

Once again, great job. I never really imagined Valen in a viking hat(or holding a flag of norway) but the fact that it obviously identifies him as norweigan, which makes it impeccably awesome. Anyway, before I get off track again, the corn pops guy is the guy in the bright yellow outfit in the corn pops "music video" commercial. I invented an excuse for his abscence in the picture, so don't trouble yourself. I enclosed a picture, in case you want to do anything else with it, but either way you did an awesome job. Thanks a lot. --Kyle1 23:00, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC) Image:Corn_Pops_Guy.jpg

Heh, ok, it'd be of little trouble to add him, but he wouldn't necessarily need to be there either I can see. I can take away the guy's viking hat and/or flag if you want him to be less norwegian. Gordon Flash - undictionary

Hello, first of all, this fucking comment can be ignored.... I`ve seen that you`ve classified the Gordon Flash as candidate to undictionary-- I'm not going to negate you, because I don't want to make you angry -- but, that makes me think the definition of "a little article". However, when we look to the dictionary we find words, while the rest of existing craps, like people, places, personae and whatsomore we use to find in bury fucking pedias. Even if we can well see Gordon Flash as a word to use in phrases, i better see him as a persona (even never have seeing him before). Where did I go wrong?

Shit on you, --Ribamar 17:30, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

You didn't go wrong. MTU is just a friendly reminder that short articles, which usually get created and then ignored by the author from then on (and are left to us to deal with, so we sort and categorize them as best we can in bulk as they ship in, and later more thoroughly at our leisure), might fit better as undictionary namespace entries. Reread the MTU tag linked tips and tricks in how not to accure them. Also see Category:Move to Undictionary for other examples of MTU tagged pages, and their possible fates. If the author of a page does nothing about an MTU tag after a week (at which point we assume they do not care about the entry), then we deal with it in one of those fasions. Since you obviously seem to care about your entry, you can best decide what to do with it (although if you do remove the mtu tag, you should format/expand it a bit more, or tag it as under construction). Also, Gordol Flash would conform to the undictionary unstandard of unxcelence pretty easily, just has to be short, not heavily formatted, and not heavily linkified. The subject and content don't matter that much. Browse Undictionary:S to see a mixture of words, places, things, ideas, itchy rashes etc. --Splaka 20:14, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Being topped by Elvis aside (he is the king), a repertoire of edits including at least one non-racist contribution was not found, and scattering slurs around uncyclopedia just doesn't seem that funny. I am curious why you are defending their edits though? Is it an alternate ISP/proxy for you, or possibly an associate of yours? I am willing to listen to a sensible discussion aimed towards lifting the ban, but this doesn't seem to be it so far. --Splaka 09:49, 11 Oct 2005 (UTC)
I'm not defending my edits. I was trying to use racial humor in certain racially-contexted articles trying to be funny, but I was offensive/not funny in doing so. YЯMA (and Undictionary)

Yeah, I think you were on a roll when you labelled this one, too. I can add a photograph if it makes you happy, but making this joke longer will not necessarily make it funnier.

Look, I'm sincerely bothered that you put this tag on the article. I know it's unreasonable to make a fuss about an Unencyclopedia article, but this is something that's been happening all across the site and it's been really bothering me.

As an unencyclopedia user (I've been posting as Kinda for quite some time), I have found this whole Undictionary movement to be singularly unhelpful. I'm not sure I see any benefit at all. All in all, it seems to accomplish about as much as putting category:undictionary at the bottom.

Why do we need an entire new file tree for short articles? I really don't want to have to worry about whether my article is long enough or short enough according to an arbitrary standard that does not seem clear or evenly enforced. Who cares what wikipedia does?

If I need to rewrite my article because it's not funny enough, that's fine. On the other hand, when I write an article and keep it brief, to improve readabiliy and impact, and then within ten minutes of posting you tag it because it's too _short_, I find it discouraging.

It's not an Undictionary article, at least not from my point of view. If it was, I would have put it in the Undictionary. I put it in Unencyclopedia because that's where, from my point of view, it belonged. If you want to move it, move it. You don't need permission.

The tag's gone. I have no plans to expand the article, or contract it, at this time. You can put the article wherever you think best. Please apply the same standard to all my future articles. I don't want to have to worry about my 'seven day deadline' or you'll huff it. I don't want to feel like I have to hit a certain 'word count' or 'hour count' or 'effort count.' Sometimes long articles take ten minutes and short articles take two days, and all you can judge by is whether the article is any good or not.

Apologies for the lengthy message. Hope I didn't come across as too unreasonable. I know you meant well, but this bothered me, and I wanted to say something about it.

{edit later) -- well, I can't remove the tag. Hooray. Do whatever you want with the page, then. I'm out.

"Why do we need an entire new file tree for short articles?" Alternative is to delete them. We get around 200 new ones a day, and they range from excellent to total vanity or just one word insults, or pages full of "PENIS!". MTU is a way to give the borderline ones (middle 1/3 about) a chance at life. Very few get put in the undictionary, most are expanded/formatted/fixed by the author (or even moved), or they get ignored and later are deleted. See this discussion if you'd like to comment on MTU in general. PS: Why can't you remove the tag? Your article is borderline, and with a little formatting and linkifying it should be ok, but it is a bit short. --Splaka 04:48, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)

One week? Hahahahaha. Check the Special:Log/delete sometime. I don't know what wiki will let you have a week for anything you want by claiming it is a work in progress. As for "Work in progress"... tag it as such, with {{{WIP|~~~~~}} or {{construction}}, or put it in the sandbox, or on a subpage of your userpage, or use a freaking 'preview' button. Idiot? For deleting things short and boring and not funny? I contend sir, that you are an idiot for thinking it wouldn't get deleted in that form. Let us agree to disagree. Anywho, there is a customary 4 day ban for calling an admin a douchebag (as well as adding to his talkpage without signing, and not creating a new header, and recreating a deleted page, and pretending to dictate police as an anonymous user, bwahaha). Thanks bye. --Splaka 23:44, 28 Oct 2005 (UTC)

yes, douchebag

No, you're a douchebag/idiot for deleting it after 5 minutes and being ignorant of a.) who Gene Ray is and the larger joke in context of his internet notoriety b)for spending hours on end being an 'administrator'. I had posted it and then messaged my friends to contribute to it. By the time they got to it it was gone. What's the point of having such anal policies if you're just going to alienate people from contributing to this website? I also didn't feel like logging in, and I don't see why it's necessary. You can trace my IP.

And yeah, I was justified calling you a douchebag/idiot for deleting my page without any discussion or reason given.

Anyway, I guess you won because I'm done with this website for legislating dickheads like you to run around unchecked deleting whatever they want and then banning people. I had posted things in the past that weren't deleted so briskly while just being given warnings to expand it or face deletion. I don't know why there has been a policy shift, but it's a shitty one and it's based upon the limited subjectivity of a few internet nerds. Look at some of the crap you've contributed to. Venture Brothers? HAHAHAHAHA... SO GODAMN FUNnY> YOU"RE A COMEDIC GENIUS!!!! TAP WATER?!?!?! OMG YOUR COMEDY IS OFF THE HOOK HILARIOUS!!!

Oh ow, you've hurted me. Quite. In case you've been blind (again, check the delete log) we are in the middle of massive cleanup (that started with "Forest Fire Week" and is now moving on to scooping up the ashes). Again, posting a few lines and an external image is not an 'article', and will be deleted (and in the past have been deleted) if no indication is given that it is a work in progress, *especially* if it is by an anonymous IP. If you want a public work in progress, try a userpage like User:MisterQuickly/WIP. This website is not your public toy (like wikipedia), but a project run by Chronarion and Stillwaters to look at a wikiproject (and the world) in a satrical point of view. They add or delete whatever they want, and hire admins who will do their bidding. If you disagree, feel free to leave (with or without help). K thanks bye ^_^ --Splaka 00:22, 29 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Just a head's up but the article Christopheros Lacos has been recreated again. MadMax 19:01, 7 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Questionable Categories

  • Splaka,

Just sorted some odd categories under Category:User OW as well as Category:User du, Category:User du-0, Category:User en, Category:User en-N, Category:User es, and Category:User es-1. Not sure if these are created with a purpose (as most have the same articles) but I thought you might want to check it out. MadMax 00:52, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

They are transwiki/sporks from Wikipedia (Wikipedia has entirely too many user language/status templates/categories). These aren't yet out of hand but soon could be. Peek at Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Babel --Splaka 00:56, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Wow, the Wikipedia ones are rather complete. We really need the BS, Pig, and 1337 ones. Dawg.gif » Brig Sir Dawg | t | v | c » 01:57, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
True story, creating the subcategories for Category:User OW [nb. Thanks MadMax for cleaning that into one category], I've based upon what real Wikipedians call the Babel. I'm not responsible for the rest. What I just saw on Dawgs page I really like and have added self. Hope it does not get out of hand. --Ouro 11:47, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
We just sorted it out so it won't, hopefully. Each language will just have one category, and the contents of that cateory will be sorted by level (sort of easy to do). You might do the same. For each OW template, put in: [[:Category:User OW|#]] where # is the level. Each user of level 1 will be under '1' in the category. However, it is not retroactive (but will happen in new additions), you must go back and null edit the pages containing the OW user template to get them to recategorize. If you want I can go do this for you. --Splaka 11:50, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
I think I can figure it out myself, thanks for the suggestion. Practice makes perfect, not? --Ouro 11:53, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
D'you think that what I did corresponds with what you had in mind? What about those five categories that are now de facto orphaned? --Ouro 12:10, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
I think so. Category:User_OW looks good. I'll delete them for you. --Splaka 12:12, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. Looks clean now, ready to accept members :) --Ouro 12:17, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Forgot that there are two links per template. Only now are they all ready. --Ouro 12:25, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Page moves that seem vandalous

The page for United States of America was moved to America of United States. I feel that this was an inappropriate move, but I have no idea what to do. So, can you...you know...?--Nytrospawn 22:12, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Moved back. Wasn't funny. Block them if they do it again (without telling you why). --Splaka 22:15, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Don't revert admins

See here and here. I don't know why it was reverted originally; after waiting a week I assumed it was just a mistake.

The "Reverted revert(s) of Nytrospawn" thing was just a joke...

OK to put it back? Juan Kerr 21:23, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Well, the title isn't correct, it is wrong, and the parody aspect of that is in the text of the wrongtitle template. --Splaka 21:28, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC) PS: Also, we have some templates that are helpful and useful and not just there to get a laugh, wrongtitle is sort of one of those. PPS: Also also, that particular article is highly viewed and vandalized having been slashdotted twice, and shouldn't be changed too much from the site founder's original designs.
OK, I'll leave it alone. Would it be a good idea to have a special template for slashdotted pages? Juan Kerr 21:33, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Hmm, only happened twice and on the same article (the third occurance was just the main page). So again, it would involve messing with that article, so I'd leave it alone. --Splaka 21:44, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Too many templates

What was wrong with this? Wasn't it funny? If it wasn't, why? --Logixoul 08:35, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)

It was slightly funny, but not very pretty, which was the main thing against it. Also, there were complaints (ok, one) --Splaka 08:45, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Okay. --Logixoul 22:23, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
