Carry On[edit source]

Nice additions to the Carry On Films article, I'd always intended to expand the cast list. :) -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)

Feed The Welsh[edit source]

The first thing I personally would do is get rid of the participants section, and replace it with a paragraph, because there's a bit of an anti-list ethic going on in Uncyc these days. Maybe cut out a few of the people and write something about them - think of the various stuff that happened at Band Aid - ie; Stevie Wonder becoming all diva-ish and not wanting to play (Tracy Chapman performed during his set and thus kick-started her career. Sure you could make some kind of joke about "Baby's Got a Fast Car" therefore being Stevie's fault.) I don't know how much advice I can really give you on this one, because it's very different to the sort of article I write. Yer man Mhaille there is a thoroughly good chap and better at doing different styles than me. Don't be scared of him - all the rumours you've heard about him being on the sex offender's register have been blown out of all proportion - the little whores were asking for it. Don't worry about the lack of encouragement - although 'official policy' is to be nice to noobs, humans are as humans are and individuals can leave a lot to be desired sometimes. Keep on at it - there's some very pleasant and helpful people round here too! :-) RabbiTechno 19:47, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

BTW - would you be a Welshman yourself? RabbiTechno 19:50, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Carry On Film[edit source]

I'll give it a jolly good seeing-to (matron!) very soon. Are you looking for advice or do you want me to do the whole pee review thing? --Zarbag 22:09, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes please if you could give it a going over (Oo-er!) on Pee review, I'd be grateful.--OliverKnight 07:15, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Can't see a great deal that could be done to improve it really. Looks good overall - perhaps if I'd seen a Carry On film in the last 25 years I might be able to think of something, and even then I only saw about three minutes of it. What a philistine I am. RabbiTechno 22:19, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Words fail me, Mr RabbiTechno, sir. 25 years!!?? But any advice will be gratefully received. --OliverKnight 07:15, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your review of my Lettuce article. I'm going to take what you said, and hopefully create some sort of "masterpiece". But seriously, that was very helpful and I appreciate the tips. Keep it up! -- Smallbeer.pngSpillin DylanSmallbeer.pngTALKSmallbeer.pngEDITSSmallbeer2.png05:03, Dec 17

Happy to help. I got a helpful review myself the other day and just felt some odd desire to do the same somewhere else - Strange. 'Lettuce' all hope we'll see a masterpiece soon. (Yes, I do puns, also) --OliverKnight 08:00, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

...for pee reviewing my Andy Murray article. I've incorporated a few of your ideas, mainly that of him thinking he's brilliant, which of course was one of the main themes of Adrian Mole's diary. I've mentioned Tim Henman too, but I've decided to concentrate more on his rivalry with Novak Djokovic. Thanks for the help. I think it's ready for VFH now. -- 15Mickey20 (talk to Mickey)  15:15, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Would you be willing to re-review this article once I've incorperated your suggestions and done more re-writing? --Winstanley1 22:01, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, no problem. Give us a nudge when it's ready. --OliverKnight 22:06, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

This is ready to be re-reviewd now. I added your suggestions, and made the article more stuctured so it hopefully makes more sense.' --Winstanley1 13:15, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Fellow Brit here. Just checking that you had read my comments relating to yours on User_talk:Mhaille. Hope you have not decided to leave for good. We need more Brits around here. MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 20:38, Dec 22

That goes double for me. The problem when we throw our mental offspring our into the wilds of the public domain is that often our greatness and craft goes unnoticed at best, or openly criticised at worst. Thats not to say that the work is bad, maybe is DOES say more about the "reviewer". I do have to agree with you that there is often a bias for US based humor and against UK based humour, but there are ways around this.
For the record I've loved a lot of your contributions, and it would be a shame if you didn't contribute more. -- Sir Mhaille Icons-flag-gb.png (talk to me)
Bring Do They Know It's Christmas? (1983 Version) back from the dead will you Mhaille??? Oliver sent it to QVFD and MadMax huffed it as it was an author request. Oliver has clearly had too much Bah Humbug this year, and the above article is a great piece of work about an important subject, even if those pesky Yanks across the pond did not get it. Please? MrN MrN9000SouthParksmall.jpg 20:54, Dec 22
Yes, don't let VFH get you down. God knows I've traveled down this path before; back when I was dipping my feet into VFH, I had six nominations fail (several within the first day) before I got my first feature. Then, oddly enough, I put several back on after a period of time and they made it! The moral of the story is, sometimes the hardest thing to do is to break through, and once you do, people realize how good your stuff is. Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, "CCTV footage of Geldof with a small length of pipe, and his best If you don't join my crusade, I'm gonna sink it up yer jacksy expression" made me laugh out loud. I invite you to reconsider your decision[edit source]

Oliver,

I think that you might be monitoring this. People who make a big todo about leaving Uncyclopedia tend to drift back to it at somepoint. The opposite of loving Uncyclopedia isn't hating it - its apathy towards it and the apathetic seldom announce they are going, they just do.

Right then, I would encourage you to keep plugging away at you writing. Its good and if you let morons who make their careers on Uncyclopedia based on being Voting Only Bullies get to you, well then, they win don't they? ANd people like this seldom know what they are doing on Uncyclopedia; if you look at what they contribute to the site its mostly shit-votes, pissing on other peoples parades because they can't write themselves, so they want to spoil the party for others.

And you are going to find folks who don't the humor because it doesn't immediatly jump out at them; for these people they thing that the punchline of a joke is always delivered at the beginning of every set up. Why? Its because 1) their brains are much too flabby to try and think about it and 2) They are assholes. I'm not going to name names, the people that put time and effort around here know who they are. If Mhaille has adopted you then you are in good hands. So if you have read this then I hope that you know that you are not alone, nor are you the only one who has felt the stinging slap of mean people who could never create the quality of work that you can.

Happened by that discussion myself, just now, and felt I had to jump in. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; nothing, and I mean NOTHING is funny to everyone. If you've ever heard a movie advertised as a "British comedy"(maybe that's a US term, I dunno), then you can probably see that there are differences between the humo(u)r tastes between the nations across the pond. Some American or Australian people just won't get some British jokes, and vice versa. It doesn't necessarily have to do with knowing what you're talking about, I think it's more of a stylistic thing. Personally, I think that Mhaille has mastered making British humor accessible to Americans and others, and I myself try to keep what I write fairly international. Keep writing-- you're good, and I think you'll go places. Cheers, - P.M., WotM, & GUN, Sir Led Balloon Baloon.gif(Tick Tock) (Contribs) 02:58, Dec 23
